Fr. Mike discusses how the Israelites complaining against God and believing they were better off in Egypt reflects our own inclination to be enslaved by sin. Today's readings are Numbers 11, Deuteronomy 10, and Psalm 33. For the complete reading plan, visit ascensionpress.com/bibleinayear. Some episodes are going to be action-packed and some are going to sound like you're reading an instruction book, and this episode may tend toward the latter of the two. It's important to remember, however, that the tabernacle is the place where the God of the universe, perfect in all His ways, matchless in power and authority, would meet with His people in a unique way. If it were up to you to build that, wouldn't you want detailed instructions? Right worship is important to God, and these detailed instructions gave the Israelites the freedom of knowing their worship was pleasing to God Almighty. Today, God gives instructions on how the Israelites would build the place where He would be worshipped, how to collect funds to put it together. Exodus 25 - 1:02 . Exodus 26 – 7:00 . In this sermon, Pastor Christopher talks about the meaning of praise. He breaks down three main points: The Call to Praise, the Cause for Praise, and the Conclusion of Praise. He shares with us the occasion for this praise, and four reasons found in the 'Cause' that show the greatness of the Lord and describe Him and His Plan. Listen to learn more! Thanks for listening! BIG IDEA: Praise God with Confident joy by resting in His eternal plan, and hoping in His Steadfast love. I. Trust in His good word (4-11) II. Rest in His eternal plan (10-12) III. Fear God, not false saviors (13-19) Discussion Questions: 1. When joy feels far, which truth in vv.4–9 most lifts your praise—and why? 2. What's your modern “war horse” (money, control, approval), and how will you shift that trust to the Lord this week? 3. What's one concrete way you'll practice joyful waiting (vv.20–22)—sing, give thanks, or meditate on truth—and when?

In our final week of For Every Season, we discover through Psalm 33 why we sing.PSALM 33:1-3Colossians 3:16 Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly, teaching and admonishing one another in all wisdom, singing psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, with thankfulness in your hearts to God.1. We sing to GOD because HE told us to sing to Him! New songs come from a fresh awareness of God's grace.Old songs remind us of what has been true for generations. PSALM 33:4-9 2. We sing to God because He has done great things. PSALM 33:10-12 3. We sing because God has chosen us as His Children. PSALM 33:13-17 4. We sing because even though God is all-powerful, His eye is on us. PSALM 33:18-19 5. WE SING BECAUSE HE HAS DELIVERED US FROM DEATH! PSALM 33:20-22 6. WE SING BECAUSE HE LOVES US.
Title: Sing to Him a New SongSpeaker: Nate HoldridgeText: Psalm 33Overview: Pastor Nate Holdridge teaches through Psalm 33, an anonymous psalm that calls believers to sing a "new song" to the Lord. The sermon examines three central truths about God from this psalm: His power and goodness revealed through creation and His Word, His sovereign plan that supersedes human counsel, and His worthiness of our trust over earthly securities. Pastor Nate traces how the Book of Psalms progressively moves toward praise, explains the significance of God's steadfast love (chesed) throughout creation, and addresses the modern "false hopes" that compete for our trust. The message concludes with practical application for becoming worshippers who engage both exuberantly and sincerely in their faith.
