Episode Notes Bio Mitali Sonar, a forever student of Kathak, received her M.A. in performing arts administration from NYU Steinhardt in 2020. Currently, she is the Marketing person for Navatman Inc., and also a Kathak teacher. Mitali received formal Kathak training under Rajendra Chaturvedi of the Gopi Krishna lineage of Kathak (Benaras Gharana) and completed her Visharad in 2016. She performed at various stages like Kala Ghoda, NCPA and Sur Shringar in her homecity, Mumbai, and most recently played the role of Kunti in the Navatman's dance theater version of the Mahabharata in New York City. She has been dedicated to the art form since the past 22 years and has been an active member of various New-York based events like  the New York Kathak Festival, Drive East & Kathak Meet-ups. She has previously worked with Alvin Ailey American Dance Theater & NYU Skirball. Today's guest is Lucy Sexton. Lucy is a Brooklyn born choreographer, producer, and administrator who works in the fields of dance, theater, film, and advocacy. She is currently Executive Director of the cultural advocacy organization New Yorkers for Culture and Arts, working for equity and support for culture for all New Yorkers. Beginning in 2009, she has served as Executive Director of the NY Dance and Performance Awards, The Bessies, building them for the first time into an independent organization. As a dance artist she works with Anne Iobst; together they create and perform the dance performance duo DANCENOISE which was founded in 1983.
