My guest this week is Adam Scott. You probably know him from Parks and Rec, Party Down, and of course Severance. But beyond the screen, Adam's a guy with serious taste—big fits, big tunes, and a love of style that runs deep.We talk about clothes, music, and more. Plus, yes, plenty of Severance talk! [REBROADCAST FROM January 24, 2025] The hit series "Severance" is set in the near future where the distinction between work and life is extreme. After a three year hiatus, the show returned last week to glowing reviews. We're joined by actors Tramell Tillman, who plays the charming yet sinister Mr. Milchik, and Britt Lower, who plays Helly, to discuss the new season.
In May 2025, Grace, Damo and Adam travelled to Belfast to visit the set of Blue Lights and record interviews with the cast and creatives on the show. In this first of four episodes, we speak to writers and co-creators, Declan Lawn and Adam Patterson, about the real life stories that inspire the show, and the pressure of a third (and fourth) season, Neil Keery, who plays Sergeant Laurence McCloskey and finally, we spoke to Siân Brooke, who plays Grace Ellis, about the response to her character in Blue Lights plus her roles in Trying and House of the Dragon.Special thanks to Two Cities Productions, Milk Publicity and Visit Belfast. If you would like to support the work of TV DNA, you can donate the price of a cup of coffee at www.ko-fi.com/tvdna We can't wait for you to hear our thoughts on the latest episodes and for you to give us yours too. WELCOME BACK TO THE BARDO, REFINER!It's one of the most unusual episodes of 'Severance' so far. And we're about to finish digging into every nook and cranny!! Welcome back to the 'Severed' Deep Dive into 'Chikhai Bardo.'This time we're going to get into some of those ROOMS. What the heck has Mark S. been working on? Oh, a room that's nothing but air turbulence. There's another one that's nothing but 'thank you card' writing. Huh? It seems Dan Erickson was using the Testing Floor to work out some personal demons. We avoided the Flossing Room!Grab a quick nap on Mark's sad Orange Couch then hit 'play' for the third and final chapter of "Chikhai Bardo."
Welcome to Multiverse News, Your source for Information about all your favorite fictional universesTrammell Tillman, the break-out star of Severance who plays Seth Milchick on the Apple+ show, will be part of the Spider-Man: Brand New Day cast. Variety got the scoop on the Emmy-nominated actor joining the Marvel Cinematic Universe, but no details on who he's playing were announced. Move over Marvel and DC…Archie is here to take us by storm? In an interesting move from filmmakers Phil Lord and Chritopher Miller, Universal is fronting an Archie adaptation for the big screen. Comics legend Tom King is writing the screenplay and former 20th Century Studios President of Production Emma Watts is producing. King made the leap from page to screen recently in the DCU, penning Supergirl Woman of Tomorrow and the Lanterns series, but is well-known for his comics in Marvel, DC, and beyond. The CW show Riverdale adapted the Archie comics in its own unique way and plot details for this film are unknown. Universal also produced a version of the Archie characters in Josie and the Pussycats in 2001. Though we sing the praises for AppleTV+ loudly and frequently on this show, we've also often touted it as being one of the more inexpensive streaming services. Alas, all good things come to an end, as the streamer announced its cost jumped from $9.99 to $12.99 effective August 21. The annual rate of $99.99 has not changed yet. As of now, AppleTV+ stands alone as the only streamer that doesn't have an ad-supported option. Dafne Keen and Saara Chaudry have joined the third season of Percy Jackson and the Olympians. Keen will play Artemis, the Greek goddess of the moon and the hunt. Saara Chaudry will play Zoë Nightshade, an immortal hunter and Artemis' lieutenant.Guardians of the Galaxy and Jumaji star Karen Gillan has joined the cast of the Amazon MGM's Highlander reboot and will play Heather, the love interest of Henry Cavill's character. The first trailer for season 13 of Futurama has been released. All 10 episodes of the new season premiere on Hulu on September 15.Nicolas Cage is in talks to star in season five of HBO's True Detective.NBC has reversed course on the release schedule of the upcoming The Office spin off The Paper - shifting to a binge release. Instead of the previous plan of rolling out over four weeks, the show will now debut all 10 episodes at once on September 4.K-Pop Demon Hunters and Weapons duked it out for the top spot and the estimates on Box Office Mojo show Demon Hunters coming out on top. The Netflix sensation was only released for one weekend and clearly had a draw. Now production company Sony is in talks to create a sequel with Netflix. Variety has learned that despite announcing plans for a season two earlier this year, Paramount has opted not to move forward with another season of the Dexter prequel series Dexter: Original Sin. The studio is planning however on assembling a writer's room to develop a second season of Dexter: Resurrection, the sequel series.Jon Hurwitz, Hayden Schlossberg and Josh Heald, the creators behind Netflix's Cobra Kai are in talks to bring Knight Rider, the 1980s David Hasselhoff-led action drama centered on a computerized talking car, to the big screen.

Apple TV+'s Severance (2022), created by Dan Erickson and directed by Ben Stiller and Aoife McArdle, continues to unravel its unsettling mystery in Episodes 4, 5, and 6, deepening the psychological tension and moral dilemmas of Lumon Industries. The series explores the chilling concept of surgically separating work and personal memories, creating two versions of its employees—their “innie” and “outie” selves. These midseason episodes see Mark Scout, played by Adam Scott (Parks and Recreation, Step Brothers), struggling with the duality of his existence while encountering new clues about Lumon's dark secrets. Britt Lower (Casual, Man Seeking Woman) as Helly battles her growing desperation to escape her severed life, pushing against the boundaries of the procedure in shocking ways. John Turturro (The Batman, O Brother, Where Art Thou?) as Irving and Christopher Walken (The Deer Hunter, Catch Me If You Can) as Burt explore a surprising and tender connection, while Zach Cherry (Crashing, You) as Dylan adds layers of both humor and fear when his home and work selves begin to dangerously intersect. Patricia Clarkson's Harmony Cobel looms large as Lumon's cold and manipulative supervisor, tightening her grip as the characters inch closer to the truth. Episodes 4–6 deliver some of the most unforgettable moments of Season 1, including Helly's shocking outie reveal, Irving and Burt's growing relationship, and Dylan's discovery of the outside world—all of which set the stage for the explosive second half of the season. Greg Alba and John Humphrey dive into the conspiracies, the character arcs, and the masterful suspense that make Severance one of the most thought-provoking shows on television today. A federal lawsuit against Elon Musk's X Corp has ended with a settlement that requires the company to pay $500 million in severance to thousands of former Twitter employees. The lawsuit, filed in the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of California, accused X of violating federal labor laws by refusing to provide severance pay after Musk's acquisition of Twitter in October 2022. The company, now known simply as “X,” terminated over half of its workforce in the weeks after Musk completed his $44 billion purchase. How did a deal that was supposed to redefine social media turn into a legal battle over unpaid severance? The question surfaces from the scale and speed of Twitter's layoffs and the way those exits were handled. When Musk took control of Twitter, he slashed roughly 6,000 jobs across the company. Many of those employees said they were promised specific severance packages under the previous ownership. The lawsuit, led by former Twitter employee Courtney McMillian, alleged that Musk and his team chose to ignore those agreements and instead offered significantly reduced exit terms.
The debate over whether AI models could one day be conscious — and merit legal safeguards — is dividing tech leaders. In Silicon Valley, this nascent field has become known as “AI welfare,” and if you think it's a little out there, you're not alone. Also, more than two years after leaving the company, some former Twitter employees may finally receive their severance pay. Elon Musk's X is tentatively settling a class action lawsuit filed by workers who were let go soon after he purchased Twitter. This news comes in the form of a court filing where both parties asked the court to delay an upcoming hearing so that they could work out a deal. Learn more about your ad choices. For over thirty years, Adam Scott has been one of the most engaging, hilarious, versatile actors we have working today. Born in Santa Cruz, California, Scott, the son of two teachers and the youngest of three children, sent all of his schooling in The Golden State, as he was a graduate of the American Academy of Dramatic Arts. Post college, Scott started to get acting gigs in several feature films like Star Trek: First Contact, The Lesser Evil, High Crimes, and a notable supporting role in The Aviator, sharing scenes with Leonardo DiCaprio. At the same time, he had made a name for himself on the small screen with appearances on shows like Boy Meets World, Party of Five, and as a love interest on Six Feet Under. Growing up, Scott always dreamed of becoming either the next Al Pacino or David Letterman, becoming obsessed with Pacino as a beacon of acting for a generation as well with Letterman's obscure sense of humor tickling his funny bone. It's funny how life works out, because as Scott was making his mark in more dramatic work, the summer of 2008 changed his career forever when he starred in the latest comedy from director Adam McKay, Step Brothers, and without any improve skills to his resume, was able to land giant laughs opposite the biggest comedy star of the time, Will Ferrell. From this moment, things took off for Scott, as the following summer saw the release of the cult comedy television classic, Party Down, which followed a group of caterers in Los Angeles as they hope to make it in Hollywood. The show was cancelled after two seasons in 2010 (though it was brought back in 2023 for a third season), but as that door closed for Scott, another one opened with his role as Ben Wyatt on Parks and Recreation, a state auditor who slowly becomes the love interest for Leslie Knope (Amy Poehler). As a fan of the acclaimed NBC show, I can say that the best thing to happen to Parks and Recreation was the addition of Scott as Ben Wyatt, delivering one of the funniest characters on the show as well as one of the best television couples of the last twenty years. Since his time with the gang from Pawnee, Indiana, he's continued to showcase his range as an actor, with guest comedic spots on shows like The Good Place and Veep, was part of the ensemble for Big Little Lies, appeared in the sequel to Wet Hot American Summer, and even hosted comedic physical game show called Don't in 2020. But all of this work has lead him to the biggest role of his career so far as Mark on hit Apple TV+ drama, Severance. From the mind of creator Dan Erickson, Severance follows employeesat a mysterious company called Lumon Industries that have undergone a procedure known as “severance” to ensure that they have no memories to the outside world while they are at work, with no memory of their work life once they leave the building. This creates then the idea of an “innie” and “outie” personality within one's self, which would be dangerous if the worlds crosses, but that's exactly what happens to Mark at the end of season one, as he and his other colleges at Lumon briefly are able to bring their innie selves into the real world in their outie's body. The second season grapples with the repercussions of the rebellious Lumon employee's actions, as well as goes down various rabbit holes to show that the company that Mark works for is various dangerous as well as a deeper, personal connection to him that he could've ever known. It's riveting, thought-provoking, thrilling television that has slowly become the best show on television in large part to the excellent writing by Erickson, the inventive direction by Ben Stiller, and the incredible work by the show's massive ensemble, led by Scott, who in season two, not only gives the best performance of his career so far, but the best performance by any actor on television this year. In his glowing review of the season, our television editor Tyler Doster stated that Scott was “at his best this season,” finding “a new hunger” within his performance that grows this season as the mystery around Mark and the other characters begins to take shape. In my in-depth conversation with the Emmy nominated actor and producer, we discussed the anticipation of filming season two, the differences in playing Mark S. and Mark Scout, how trust is a key theme throughout the second season, and what it is like to be part of a global television phenomenon similar to The Twilight Zone and Lost; two shows that mean a lot to him and speak to the power of character forward storytelling. We also spoke about the dueling romantic relationships Mark finds himself in, what it is like working with co-stars Britt Lower and Dichen Lachman, the technical challenges of filming the camcorder and running sequences found in first and last episode of the season, as well as his versatility as a character actor; moving from drama to comedy, and how that helped him form who Mark is. In between all of this, Scott shared his favorite flavor of Gatorade, the need for bananas when performing stunts on set, his fondness for his time on his other beloved television series Party Down and Parks and Recreation, and why he loves the Fast and The Furious franchise. From comedy to drama to everything in between, Scott can do it all, and with Severance, he's showcasing a confidence of an actor who is destiny to continue to empty the tank until it's time to punch out his time card a long time from now. Adam Scott is Emmy-nominated for Outstanding Lead Actor in a Drama Series for the episode "Cold Harbor" of Severance. Music: Severance, Opening Title Sequence: Season 2 (intro) and “B-3” from BoxCat Games Nameless: The Hackers RPG Soundtrack (outro).

Join us as we dive into the mind-bending world of Severance, the hit Apple TV+ sci-fi thriller series created by Dan Erickson and directed in its early episodes by Ben Stiller (Tropic Thunder, Escape at Dannemora). The show follows Mark Scout (Adam Scott – Parks and Recreation, Step Brothers), an employee at Lumon Industries who has undergone a mysterious “severance” procedure separating his work and personal memories into two distinct consciousnesses. In Episode 1 (“Good News About Hell”), we're introduced to Mark's eerie work environment, his co-workers Helly R. (Britt Lower – Man Seeking Woman, High Maintenance), Irving Bailiff (John Turturro – The Big Lebowski, O Brother, Where Art Thou?), and Dylan George (Zach Cherry – You, Crashing), as well as his enigmatic boss Harmony Cobel (Patricia Arquette – The Green Mile, Sharp Objects). The unsettling onboarding of Helly R. sets the tone for Lumon's strange corporate culture. Episode 2 (“Half Loop”) delves deeper into the rules and restrictions of the severed floor, with tense moments like Helly's repeated escape attempts, Irving's mysterious hallway wanderings, and the ominous first hints of “the break room.” Outside of work, Mark begins to question the limits of his own divided life. The dual timelines and haunting tone make for standout sequences that have quickly become fan favorites. Greg & John unpack the symbolism, foreshadowing, and corporate dystopia while spotlighting standout performances from the cast, including Christopher Walken (Catch Me If You Can, The Deer Hunter) as Burt Goodman and Tramell Tillman (Hunters, Elementary) as the intimidating Mr. Milchick. From Lumon's cryptic slogans to Helly's chilling resignation video, we break down all the details in this Severance deep-dive. This summer, we're taking a short break from our regular podcast format, and instead have selected various installments from past message series given by James Emery White at Mecklenburg Community Church where he serves as the Senior Pastor. In a world where streaming media often dominates cultural conversation, certain shows stand out - not only for their entertainment value but also for the deeper messages they convey. In Meck's series "Streaming Now," we explored four of the most popular streaming shows sparking widespread cultural and spiritual conversations: "Severance," "Adolescence," "The Devil in the Family: The Fall of Ruby Franke," and "The White Lotus." We've already discussed one of these shows on an earlier episode of the Church & Culture Podcast - CCP144: On “Severance." Today, we're going to show the message on "Adolescence" to discover the message it contains, the lessons that can be learned, and the ways the Bible and Christian faith might engage and respond to them. Episode Links Below you'll find the link to the full series if that's something you are interested in checking out, along with the sources that were used in the development of the message itself: “Streaming Now” Olga Khazan, “What Jonathan Haidt Thought When He Watched Adolescence,” The Atlantic, April 15, 2025, read online. Dr. James Dobson, Preparing for Adolescence. Ken Gire, The Reflective Life: Becoming More Spiritually Sensitive to the Everyday Moments of Life. Dolores Curran, Traits of a Healthy Family. We'd also encourage you to check out other parenting and family series given by Dr. White at Mecklenburg Community Church. You can find them under the “Marriage and Family” category of resources HERE. For those of you who are new to Church & Culture, we'd love to invite you to subscribe (for free of course) to the twice-weekly Church & Culture blog and check out the Daily Headline News - a collection of headlines from around the globe each weekday. We'd also love to hear from you if there is a topic that you'd like to see discussed on the Church & Culture Podcast in an upcoming episode. Send us a textIs a creator's vision more important than fan expectations? When Dan selected Zoolander 2 to counter Tony's Happy Gilmore 2 pick, neither expected to ignite a fundamental debate about the nature of filmmaking itself. What begins as a typical movie discussion quickly transforms into a passionate philosophical standoff. Dan champions Zoolander 2 as a delightfully absurd comedy filled with machine-gun joke delivery, praising everything from Kyle Mooney's hipster character to Kiefer Sutherland's pregnancy reveal. He argues that filmmakers should follow their creative instincts rather than simply recreating what worked before.Tony, however, sees the film as a betrayal. Where the original Zoolander offered grounded fashion industry satire, the sequel's supernatural elements, fashion police, and action-movie aesthetics abandon everything that made the first film special. "This could be about any group of people that want to live forever. It has nothing to do with fashion," he argues, making the case that legacy sequels have an obligation to honor what fans loved. The conversation spirals into fascinating territory as the hosts examine specific scenes through completely different lenses. Whether discussing Benedict Cumberbatch's controversial All character, the bizarre masks sequence, or the lava pit finale, their disagreements reveal deeper questions about artistic growth versus audience satisfaction. Dan summarizes the contrast perfectly: "Happy Gilmore 2 is a perfect sequel but not a great movie, while Zoolander 2 is a horrible sequel but a fine movie by itself."Perhaps most compelling is their exploration of how creative failure shapes artistic paths. Ben Stiller's admission that Zoolander 2's poor reception propelled him toward creating acclaimed work like "Severance" raises questions about whether commercial disappointment sometimes serves a greater purpose.Whether you've seen the polarizing sequel or not, this episode delivers laugh-out-loud moments alongside thoughtful examination of what we truly want from the films we love. By the end, you'll be questioning your own stance on the eternal debate: should creators prioritize their artistic vision or give audiences exactly what they expect?Be our friend!Dan: @shakybaconTony: @tonydczechAnd follow the podcast on IG: @hatewatchingDAT
