In this compelling episode of John Solomon Reports, we delve into the latest developments surrounding accountability and the ongoing investigations into government misconduct. FBI Director Kash Patel hints at imminent indictments related to the weaponization of government, dating back to the controversial Russia collusion case. We explore the implications of these potential indictments, especially regarding the 2019 impeachment of President Donald Trump, which is now being scrutinized for its legitimacy and political bias.Senator Rick Scott of Florida joins us to announce his groundbreaking legislation aimed at expunging the 2019 impeachment vote against Trump, marking a historic move in American politics. This resolution seeks to address the perceived illegitimacy of the impeachment process, setting a precedent that could reshape the political landscape. In the second segment, we hear from Congressman Rob Wittman of Virginia, who is actively campaigning against a proposed constitutional amendment that threatens to gerrymander the state. Whitman shares his insights on the importance of fair representation and the potential fallout of partisan redistricting, emphasizing the need for voter engagement to preserve the integrity of Virginia's electoral maps.As the episode unfolds, we also examine the fallout from the Ukraine impeachment saga, revealing new evidence that challenges the narratives presented during the impeachment trial. A recent Rasmussen Reports poll indicates a growing belief among Americans that government officials acted unlawfully to create a false impression of wrongdoing by Trump, further complicating the historical narrative surrounding the impeachment.See Privacy Policy at https://art19.com/privacy and California Privacy Notice at https://art19.com/privacy#do-not-sell-my-info.

In this episode recorded live from the 2025 Reagan National Defense Forum in Simi Valley, hosts Lauren Bedula and Hondo Geurts sit down with Congressman Rob Wittman, Vice Chairman of the House Armed Services Committee and Co-Chair of the Defense Modernization Caucus. Congressman Wittman shares his journey from reforming a Boy Scout troop in his small Virginia hometown to leading defense modernization efforts in Congress, driven by a passion for connecting good public policy to decision makers who can execute it. The conversation explores his call for Congress to thank people for taking risks and learning from failures, the critical workforce challenges facing shipbuilding, and why the overwhelming presence of non-traditional defense companies at the Reagan Forum signals a transformative shift in the defense industrial base. Wittman emphasizes that modernization must happen "at the speed of relevance," not incrementally, but with the urgency the strategic environment demands.Five Key Takeaways:Congress must thank people for taking risks, not punish failures: Wittman calls for Congress to "thank them for taking the risk" when acquisition officials present failures, then ask what they learned. Using SpaceX's Starship as an example, he argues that controlled failures accelerate progress, and Congress must stop punishing experimentation with a "process-centric mindset."The Navy's Constellation decision was a watershed moment: The Navy's willingness to reassess the Constellation-class frigate, where mission creep turned an 85% complete design into 15%, demonstrates self-assessment and course correction, the kind that should be celebrated even when acknowledging past errors.Shipbuilding faces unprecedented workforce challenges: With companies like Huntington Ingalls hiring 5,000 workers annually, shipyards must invest in quality of life improvements and expand skill sets beyond traditional trades to include software programming, robotics monitoring, and additive manufacturing.Non-traditionals are transforming the defense industrial base: The overwhelming presence of non-traditional companies, private equity firms, and venture capital at the Reagan Forum represents a fundamental shift. These players bring innovative approaches focused not just on platforms but on enabling the manufacturing process itself through software and data analytics.Modernization must happen at the speed of relevance: "We have to do these things, not just say, well, we'll think about it. We'll do a little bit. This has to be done at the speed of relevance." The strategic environment demands urgent transformation, not incremental approaches, across workforce development, manufacturing, and acquisition reform.
“The Chair Recognizes” With November's stinging election results not even a month behind the Virginia GOP, their chairman, State Sen. Mark Peake, announced that he will be stepping down. Peake told me that he's leaving his post at the end of December because he wanted to make sure he could devote his full effort in the Virginia Senate to defeating the redistricting referendum before it needs a special election. He also said that the Republican Party requires a chairman who can devote a similar amount of energy to getting out the vote should it make it to a Spring special election, and beyond that, helping win whatever districts there will be come November's midterms. Peake stepped in after longtime chair Rich Anderson earned a post as assistant secretary of the Air Force. Cameron Hamilton has announced that he wants the State Central Committee to consider him. Hamilton mounted a challenge for the GOP nomination in Virginia's 7th Congressional District in 2024 and his wife Karen was just elected to Virginia's House of Delegates from the 62nd District, succeeding the retired Nick Freitas. Some other frontrunners for the chairmanship include current chairs of Virginia's 1st, 5th, and 6th congressional districts. They are Jeff Ryer, Rick Buchanan, and John Massoud respectively. Ryer has helped Rep. Rob Wittman win reelection in a very competitive district while even outperforming statewide and national Republicans. Buchanan led the 5th District through the tumultuous (and expensive) primary battle between challenger John McGuire and incumbent Rep. Bob Good. Buchanan also pulled the district together to deliver a 15% victory for McGuire in the general election. Massoud has helped Rep. Ben Cline build a strong base that supports him at a better-than-60% clip and has also managed to withstand out-of-state money attempting to flip Virginia House 34th District where incumbent Tony Wilt survived the 2025 “blue wave.” Would Loudon County GOP chair Scott Pio try again for the chairman position? He has been vocal on social media about the need for a change and called for Peake to step down in the wake of the Democrat sweep of the statewide races and a 14-seat “flip” in the house. He was a candidate for the position when Anderson departed and lost to Peake at the State Central Committee vote.
