Per fortuna le campagne di scavo condotte negli ultimi decenni stanno lentamente portando alla luce civiltà degne di rivaleggiare con la magnificenza di inca, maya e aztechi. Nel 2006 suscitò molto clamore la pubblicazione sulla rivista National Geographic di un articolo che rivelava una sensazionale scoperta compiuta nel nord del Perù. Uno studioso originario di Cusco, il professor Régulo Franco, aveva portato alla luce la tomba della Signora di Cao. Perché una scoperta che avveniva in una zona periferica del Paese e che per di più non aggiungeva una nuova tessera alla conoscenza degli Inca, in quanto si riferiva all'ignota civiltà Moche, aveva mobilitato la più famosa rivista americana di natura e di viaggi? L'archeologo peruviano Régulo Franco sarà ospite di Laser per raccontarci in prima persona come giunse a quel sensazionale ritrovamento. Ci spiegherà anche come è cambiata grazie ad esso la nostra idea dei mondi precolombiani. La Signora di Cao ha infatti rivoluzionato la comprensione del ruolo della donna nelle civiltà dell'America prima degli spagnoli, avvalorando le teorie di Maria Gimbutas e Riane Eisle sulle civiltà antiche, che ci inviano un messaggio potente e attualissimo di inclusività e parità, sfidando le idee tradizionali sul potere maschile.
