Iedereen die in Nederland bevalt, krijgt thuis hulp van een kraamverzorgster. Het is een gewaardeerd beroep, een uniek systeem in de wereld, maar de kraamzorg staat onder druk.  Er is een personeelstekort, veel kraamverzorgsters zitten ziek thuis, de werkdruk is hoog en de vergoedingen zijn laag. Bonden en werkgevers praten al ruim een jaar over een nieuwe CAO voor de kraamzorg. Deze week zijn de onderhandelingen weer opgestart.  Kraamverzorgster Evelyn Dibbets hield voor podcast De Dag een audiodagboek bij over haar werk bij de gezinnen waar ze thuis komt. Dat zijn er soms meerdere op één dag. Ze kan heel veel betekenen voor pasbevallen moeders, maar het is soms een race tegen de klok. En haar eigen vrije avonden schieten er vaak bij in. Fleur Lambermon, onderzoekster in de kraamzorg vertelt hoe dit unieke Nederlandse systeem is bedacht, en wat er gedaan kan worden om het in stand te houden. Want, zegt ze: we moeten dit koesteren.
