In this episode, Cendrine sits down with Rocky Heron, an energy alignment coach, authenticity mentor and international yoga teacher. Cendrine and Rocky met 6 years ago during a yoga workshop that Rocky facilitated in Wellington and have been friends ever since! In this conversation, Rocky dives into the story of his journey, From an internationally renowned yoga teacher following his passion to teach the science of yoga to others, to making his own music and now creating spaces for others to receive his magic through coaching. Rocky still walks this earth with deep humility and the biggest heart ever. He shares with us his approach to finding greater connection to ourselves by "dropping the masks" and listening to our bodies. You will love his grounding energy and the depth of his wisdom! About Rocky: Rocky works as an energy alignment coach and authenticity mentor for individuals looking to heal from the burnout of maintaining protective identities. We all receive the message at some point that it is not safe for us to be who we truly are in the world. This causes the activation of not-self patterns that we use to meet our basic energy needs pertaining to survival. Rocky uses Human Design and various energy modalities to assist clients in dropping their masks and re-writing their personal narrative into one that empowers their authentic self-expression. Today I am joined by Rocky Heron to talk about something near and dear to him, and something I hope you'll find a little curiosity for within yourself—Human Design. Rocky turned to Human Design as a sort of instruction manual on how to be, and it's a tool we should all be using to better understand ourselves and how best to operate within our own designs. Human design is not just “woo,” but where science and the metaphysical overlap. I hope you love this episode as much as I did.Connect with Rocky: Instagram, WebsiteEnter my giveaway with BuddhaPants HERE, or use code CBB10 for discount at BuddhaPants.com if you don't want to wait!Listen to the Sexy Sunday Podcast HEREBuy Bonnie a cup of tea at @Bonnie-WeeksSign up for Bonnie's sexy Sunday poetry prompts HEREConnect with Bonnie: Instagram, Email (hello@bonnieweeks.com), WebsiteThe music for this episode is Threads by The Light Meeting. Rocky Heron says that in the gay community, sex is often like a handshake; you have sex first and then look for a deeper connection. People fear depth and connection, and often a deep energetic exchange feels more penetrating and vulnerable than physical penetration. But Rocky has a penetrating aura, and he isn't looking for sex to fill a void anymore. This is part one of my conversation with Rocky. We talk about finding transcendent self-love, discovering sexual identity, open relationships, leaning in to jealousy, and so much more. Make sure to tune in for part two, coming soon! This is part two of my conversation with Rocky Heron. In part one, we discussed penetrative auras and transcendent self-love. In this episode, I wanted to look at Rocky's childhood exploration of sex and how that leads into his own exploration of self now. There is a dualism to life—for every up there is a down, for all the light there is darkness. Just like in life, there is dualism within ourselves, and we are our truest self when we allow our bodies to do the driving. These are the conversations that make me feel alive. Rocky Heron has been a guest before, and he will be here in the future. Rocky shows up very differently online than he used to—more authentically, more openly. Some people are confused, angry, maybe even threatened by it.It takes a lot of energy to wear a mask all the time, to hide all the different parts of yourself. You have to stop trying to manage others' perception of you, and to show up bravely as yourself. Give yourself permission to change your mind, to be many things… to be human. One of the greatest honors in this life is to witness my friends inside their growth process. I often get to see them step into their authentic truth, which is such a gift! Being allowed in to see someone’s life and to hear of all the twists and turns on their path is pretty damn special. This week's podcast is Part 2 of a check-in with one of my best buds, Rocky Heron @rockyheron. It had been a minute since we’ve podcasted, so we gave each other some air to talk about what is new in each other’s world. What I love about these two conversations with Rocky is how real we kept them. This is an invitation to listen to us express who we truly are in this moment and where we’re both headed on our yoga journeys and in our lives. My mind is still blown by the reality of my opening a yoga studio in San Francisco. I took a moment and reflected back on all the things that have gotten me to this place and this space -- All the boxes I thought I needed to check. All the yoga teachers whose voices I borrowed until I found the power of my own. And, you know what? I wouldn’t take any of it back, because it’s gotten me to this place of deeply knowing my truth and passion. There’s no way around it: I love building community and holding safe space. It brings so much joy into my life. Rocky Heron @rockyheron and I haven’t done a pod together in a few months, but today we tuned in together. Prepare for the typical shenanigans and some checking in on where we are in life. We both had a few things on the brain, so this is part one of two. This episode shines a light on where I am at with my journey and what I am doing to move forward. I chat with one of my go-to yoga teachers today, Rocky Heron. I found Rocky right after the pandemic hit in 2020. I instantly gravitated towards his approach to asana & movement. I found his classes to be well-structured, playful, mindful & authentic. Even before the podcast was born, I knew I’d have him on someday to chat about his approach. Critical thinking is an inseparable part of yoga. Moreso nowadays. Even in our asana. The physical practice has become the doorway through which millions find their way to yoga nowadays. While it is by no means is the all of yoga. Rocky humor my asana-related questions.Throughout this interview, you’ll notice he takes my simple questions and spins the answers into a thoughtful, structured, compassionate way while acknowledging how the physical realm of experience is hard to contain with this or that questions. Every person is different. Every experience is unique. We explore questions like… What is an effective asana practice? Is there anything problematic in the way we move in yoga? What should yoga teachers do other than yoga? Role of regressions & progressions when applied thoughtfully The role of Yoga Drills Yoga Sequencing And much more…Rocky is a featured teacher on Yoga International & a host of other platforms. Having dabbled in almost every style of yoga, Rocky has developed an uncanny wisdom to teaching yoga. He has a keen sense of anatomy & alignment that he leverages often in his classes. Having taught all over the world, Rocky is also a musician as well as a yoga teacher. In this episode of Dharma Dudes, Rocky and I discuss all the things that are going on in the world right now including the epic social movement and pandemic. As yoga teachers we ask ourselves, how should we show up right now? There’s lots of conflict and opposing opinions. It takes listening to ourselves and others AND doing the work. There’s the inner work and there’s the outer work. And as uncomfortable as it may be, we gotta do both. Tune into the convo and listen to how we are learning, growing, and showing up in the yoga world. Today’s episode features three guest hosts, Dianne Bondy, Maite Onochie, and Rocky Heron, all guides on the yogagirl.com platform and voices from the Black community. Coming from different global perspectives, they share their views on how they see the world right now - and how the world has seen them. Offering up their deep wisdom on everything from white supremacy, complacency and allyship, this episode will help you question your own attachments to race, and align your inner values with your outwardly behavior. Dianne is a Canadian yoga teacher who focuses on inclusivity, diversity and accessibility on and off the mat. She is the author of the book, ‘Yoga for Everyone’ and offers online courses and workshops at diannebondyyoga.com. She also has two sons, and shares on this show her fears for them, the pushback she receives when she affirms that her life matters - that Black lives matter - and how we can all show up, as spiritual guides and as good human beings. Maite was born in Nigeria, grew up in Spain, and is now living in Costa Rica. She has a background in social anthropology and a specialization in international development which led her to work for different organizations around the world, including the United Nations. She is now about to birth her first daughter, and shares in this show the world she envisions her daughter growing up in - a world where she can be her authentic self, feel safe in her own skin, and see no limitations to her dreams. Maite speaks on growing up in a predominantly white society where she was left not feeling represented, beautiful or enough. To continue the conversation with Maite and learn about her current work as a yoga teacher and doula, follow her on Instagram at @maite_yoga. Rocky Heron is a musician and yoga teacher. He grew up in California with his mother, and shares his unique view of being a person of color raised in a white culture and how that forged his identity and allowed him to see multiple perspectives. With a passion to always continue learning, Rocky expresses the need for Americans to educate themselves on the history of their country, and demand more from leadership. You can find Rocky on Instagram at @rockyheron. Tune in to listen from the heart to voices that need to be heard, now, and always.

This episode we discuss the important of language. Language is powerful for both students and teachers and as teachers we have a responsibility to ourselves and the yoga students to be authentic and cautious with what we say. Welcome back to Dharma Dudes. Rocky and I are back from the Playa and were recapping from our time at Burning Man. Burning Man can be such an experience, not only going to it but leading up to it. We talk about the different camps, the art that is created, but also all the people that come together to join in. It’s a great digital detox from the world. No cellphone service, no email- it was such an amazing time. We tend to do a lot in our lives to keep it moving. But during this week, there wasn’t any of that, just all of us coming together. The community that comes together for Burning man is one of the greatest experiences. The different walks of life converging for a week together. Not only this year but all the years that we’ve individually made the journey with. So how do the Dharma Dudes handle burn out? Yes, we all have been there, we’ve all experienced it. Well, that’s what Rocky and I talk about today. How we get there, to how we help ourselves out of the burn out. We talk about how when we start to add different elements into our life, or just into our daily schedule it can start to become taxing on the body and mind. How that can evolve into a burn out, but also how these repetitive actions can fortify our minds for the next time we start to feel a burn out coming.Rocky and I also share what we can do to help get out of the burn out feeling. Reaching out to other people and friends to talk to can be a healthy way to connect with how we feel. Taking a step back and looking at what is happening around us can be a healthy way to understand what got us to the burn out point. We also dive into the different ways a burn out effects but also evolves our personal practice. Sharing how we nourish the body through asana, pranayama, journaling, and other means to step away from asking for more from ourselves. One way to help come out of a burn is to retreat yourself. Happy Pride Tribe! Dharma Dudes is back. Some strong language is used, with talk about drug use. These talks come from an authentic place, alongside our typical banter. Rocky Heron and I explore how we experience the balance between being in the world as queer men, but also as a yoga teacher. As queer men and growing into ourselves, sometimes it involves turning away from expectations and social norms. Trying on different hats and experiencing the yogic path that we enjoy. We talk about the dichotomy of what is being a yoga teacher and a queer man, with the worldly views of both.Yoga doesn't say that you can't practice it if you enjoy other things that are outside the studio life. As queer men, we have experiences that we have to bring into this world. Knowing where we live, and what is viewed as acceptable practices. By experiencing them we start building the vocabulary around them, and conversations that involve them.Join Rocky and me in Pachamama, Mexico for a New Years Retreat.Follow Rocky:InstagramFacebookMUSIC: Process by 92elmSUPPORT THE SHOW: If you find this podcast valuable you can support it directly by visiting https://donorbox.org/support-yogi-misfit-sessions-podcastWRITE A REVIEW: If you like the podcast, please leave a review or rating on iTunes! Welcome to the Girlfriend Gab Podcast with Danni + Rocky!Just kidding. But wouldn't that be super fun? Anyway, on with the show...Rocky Heron is a really good friend, mentor, and a huge inspiration to me--I credit him for giving me the final push into becoming a yoga teacher. As a teacher for the Mazé Method and having gone through trainings with him, Rocky is a huge wealth of knowledge of not only the body and how it moves, but teaching the yoga asanas and thinking critically about teaching. We also talk about what yoga is to different people--regular yoga vs. irregular yoga, if you will. We all have different frameworks, depending on what your lineage or training background might be, but it's all yoga. Keeping a line of inquiry in your own practice is also crucial; it's one of the best ways to discover your body and to encourage growth within your practice and teaching. What's working? How can you approach it differently?I hope you enjoy listening in to this session and want to know if you have any takeaways.Learn more about Rocky:Rockyheron.comFacebookInstagramTwitterYouTubeMUSIC:Down by 92elmFRIEND OF THE SHOW:Ohmme: Check out their functional and stylish yoga gear.
