This week on Stay True Podcast, Madi sits down with Matt Chandler to explore the lifelong process of becoming more like Jesus. What happens after salvation? Why doesn't God instantly remove our struggles? And how is the Holy Spirit transforming us even when growth feels slow? Drawing from Scripture and the teachings of Jesus in the Beatitudes, Madi and Pastor Matt unpack how God transforms believers over time and what genuine spiritual growth actually looks like. They discuss the role of the Holy Spirit in shaping our character, why sanctification is both God's work and our cooperation, and how everyday moments become opportunities for God to make us more like Christ. If you've ever felt discouraged by your struggles, frustrated by slow growth, or wondered if you're truly changing, this conversation is a reminder that spiritual maturity isn't about perfection. It's about faithfully walking with Jesus and trusting Him to complete the work He started in you. Stay you and stay true! Topics we dive into: -Why am I still struggling with the same sins? -How do I know if I'm actually growing spiritually? -What is sanctification, and why does it feel so slow? -Can I be saved and still struggle? -How does the Holy Spirit actually change us? -What does it practically look like to become more like Jesus? A flood destroyed the factory, the FDA shut them down, and the company had almost no cash and then something remarkable happened. Ramon Vela sits down with Alex Whitmore, Founder & CEO of Taza Chocolate, for a deeply human conversation about twenty-plus years of stone-ground, mission-driven chocolate making in Somerville, Massachusetts. From a transformative trip to Oaxaca to pioneering direct trade relationships with cocoa farmers in Haiti and the Dominican Republic, Alex's story is one of the most compelling in the specialty food world. * The flood that almost ended everything. Just a few years into building Taza, a freak thunderstorm flooded the factory, destroyed inventory, and triggered an FDA shutdown. What happened next surprised even Alex: suppliers, customers, landlord, and community all showed up. That moment taught him that business is deeply human at its core. * A trip to Oaxaca that changed everything. The name Taza comes from "taza de chocolate," a traditional Mexican drinking chocolate. After visiting stone mills in southern Mexico in his twenties, Alex came home and built the only company in America making chocolate on traditional Mexicano stone mills — and that founding commitment still defines every bar made today. * Direct trade before it was a trend. Taza built relationships directly with cocoa farmers, paying above fair trade prices and publishing an annual transparency report. When the global cocoa crisis hit and prices spiked, those long-standing farmer relationships became a genuine competitive and operational lifeline. * Twenty years of staying independent. Taza raised only $120,000 at the start and never chased outside capital. Alex walks through what two decades of bootstrapping in an intensely competitive specialty food category actually teaches you about patience, resilience, and staying true to your craft. * Start with the Wicked Dark. Taza's number one seller is a 95% dark chocolate bar made with cocoa beans from the Dominican Republic and Haiti. Alex also points new fans to the Mexican Style Chocolate Discs, the product that best captures who Taza has always been. Join us in listening to this episode for a rich and genuinely moving conversation about craft, community, and what it means to build a brand with deep roots and unshakeable values over two decades. In this episode, I sat down with Deputy Dean Veronica Hauad of the University of Chicago to explore what the university calls the “life of the mind” — and what that truly means for applicants. If you've ever wondered how one of the most intellectually rigorous universities in the country evaluates students, this conversation pulls back the curtain. From the Core Curriculum to the famously creative essay prompts, Deputy Dean Hauad shares exactly what UChicago looks for — and why intellectual curiosity matters more than a résumé packed with achievements. What You'll Learn in This EpisodeThe Core Curriculum & Academic IdentityWhy UChicago remains deeply committed to a classic liberal arts foundation. Deputy Dean Hauad explains the eight subject areas every student completes — and how this shared academic experience shapes classroom conversations and campus culture. What “Fit” Actually MeansUChicago isn't looking for students who can simply handle the rigor — they're looking for students who enjoy dissecting ideas. Learn how the admissions team evaluates whether an applicant will thrive in an environment built around inquiry and debate. The Famous Supplemental EssaysWhy UChicago's unconventional essay prompts are so important — and why they reveal “how you think,” not just what you've accomplished. This is where applicants truly differentiate themselves. The “No Harm” Test-Optional PolicyA clear explanation of UChicago's approach to standardized testing. If a score doesn't strengthen an application, it won't be used. Context — including a student's high school profile — matters more than headline averages.Letters of Recommendation That Stand OutWhy specific classroom anecdotes carry more weight than glowing adjectives. Deputy Dean Hauad explains what makes a recommendation memorable.Financial Aid DemystifiedAn inside look at UChicago's “No Loan” policy and 100% need-met commitment. Families are encouraged to use Net Price Calculators early to understand affordability and reduce uncertainty.Top Takeaways for Families• Designate “Admissions Time.” Choose one set time per week to discuss college tasks and protect the rest of senior year for enjoying family time.• Don't Rush the Supplement. School-specific essays often reveal “fit” more clearly than the personal statement.• Stay True to Yourself. Instead of asking, “What does the college want?” ask, “What genuinely excites me?” The right colleges are looking for students who lean into their authentic intellectual interests. If you're navigating highly selective admissions — or simply want to better understand how top institutions evaluate applicants — this episode offers clarity, candor, and practical guidance straight from the source.University of Chicago - Admissions & Aid------------------------------------

How often do we treat prayer as a last resort rather than a first response? In 1 Timothy 2:1-8, the Apostle Paul instructs his young apprentice Timothy that prayer is not merely one tool among many, but the foundational priority that makes everything else in the Christian life and church function. Pastor Dorrell illuminates Paul's fourfold call to supplication, intercession, and thanksgiving as the unseen engine that powers genuine spiritual vitality. Pastor Dorrell challenges you to examine your life, identify where prayer is absent, and commit to making it your first weapon rather than your final surrender.Eastland is a Place to BelongEastland Baptist Church is located in Tulsa, Oklahoma. Gospel Reading: John 17:1-13At that time, Jesus lifted up his eyes to heaven and said, "Father, the hour has come; glorify your Son that the Son may glorify you, since you have given him power over all flesh, to give eternal life to all whom you have given him. And this is eternal life, that they know you the only true God, and Jesus Christ whom you have sent. I glorified you on earth, having accomplished the work which you gave me to do; and now, Father, you glorify me in your own presence with the glory which I had with you before the world was made."I have manifested your name to the men whom you gave me out of the world; yours they were, and you gave them to me, and they have kept your word. Now they know that everything that you have given me is from you; for I have given them the words which you gave me, and they have received them and know in truth that I came from you; and they have believed that you did send me. I am praying for them; I am not praying for the world but for those whom you have given me, for they are mine; all mine are yours, and yours are mine, and I am glorified in them. And now I am no more in the world, but they are in the world, and I am coming to you. Holy Father, keep them in your name, which you have given me, that they may be one, even as we are one. While I was with them, I kept them in your name, which you have given me; I have guarded them, and none of them is lost but the son of perdition, that the scripture might be fulfilled. But now I am coming to you; and these things I speak in the world, that they may have my joy fulfilled in themselves."

Why do believers drift, compromise, or quit when faithfulness becomes costly? Pastor Dorrell examines Paul's charge to Timothy to “war a good warfare,” holding firmly to faith and a good conscience in a world that presses against biblical truth. The sermon warns that spiritual shipwreck rarely begins with intellectual rejection, but with compromised conscience, neglected truth, and distance from the protection of the local church. Listeners are challenged to examine their hearts, correct course quickly, remain rooted in Scripture and church community, and look to Christ for mercy before compromise becomes catastrophe.Eastland is a Place to BelongEastland Baptist Church is located in Tulsa, Oklahoma. Welcome back to another episode of Stay True Podcast! This week, Madi is joined by one of her closest friends, Erica Hardesty, for a conversation that is hilarious, heartfelt, and eye-opening. For the first time, Erica shares her behind-the-scenes perspective of Madi's journey on The Bachelor… including stories and moments that have never been shared before. From watching everything unfold in real time to supporting Madi through the highs, challenges, and public attention that came with it, Erica gives listeners a unique look at what that season was really like from the perspective of someone who knew Madi long before the cameras. But this conversation goes far beyond reality TV. Erica also opens up about something deeply close to her heart: the foster care crisis and the work she's doing through her nonprofit, Make It Matter, which supports young adults aging out of the foster care system. Together, Madi and Erica talk about the realities many of these young people face and how we can all play a role in bringing hope and practical support. Roddy Bottum in conversation with David Eastaugh https://www.amazon.co.uk/Royal-We-Memoir-Roddy-Bottum/dp/1636142699 THE ROYAL WE is a poetic survey of a time set in a magical city that once was and is no more. It is a memoir written by Roddy Bottum, a musician and artist, that documents through prose his coming of age and out of the closet in 1980s San Francisco, a charged era of bicycle messengers, punk rock, street witches, wheatgrass, and rebellion. The book follows his travels from Los Angeles, growing up gay with no role models, to San Francisco, where he formed Faith No More and went on to tour the world relentlessly, surviving heroin addiction and the plight of AIDS, to become a queer icon. The book is an elevated wallop of tongue and insight, much more than a tell-all. There are personal tales of historical pinnacles like Kurt and Courtney, Guns N' Roses, and recaps of gold records and arena rock - but it's the testimonies of tragedy and addiction and preposterous life-spins that make this work so unique and intriguing. Bottum writes about his dark and harrowing past in a clear-eyed voice that is utterly devoid of self-pity, and his emboldened and confident pronouncements of achievement and unorthodox heroism flow in an unstoppable train that's both captivating and inspirational. A remarkable portrayal of a creative individual in emergence, a gay man figuring out how to be a gay man, and a detailed look at the nuance of 1980s pre-tech boom San Francisco, The Royal We will be greatly appreciated by people who loved Kathleen Hanna's Rebel Girl, Patti Smith's Just Kids, Hua Hsu's Stay True, and other memoirs about the artist's life.

FEB. 23, 2026Stay true to the truth of God's Word."Go after them." Jas 5:19-20 MSGThe Bible says, "If you know people who have wandered off from God's truth, don't write them off. Go after them. Get them back and you will have rescued precious lives from destruction" (vv. 19-20 MSG). That means it's possible for a true believer to do this. It also means we must never put our convictions on the shelf. If we don't make a deliberate effort to stay close to the truth of God's Word, we will wander from it. After all, we live in a world with lots of distractions. Today many people are on a quest for "unity at all costs" and are therefore devaluing the importance of the truth as revealed in God's Word. Knowing he would soon die as a martyr for his faith, the apostle Paul wrote to his successor Timothy: "Continue in what you have learned and have become convinced of" (2Ti 3:14 NIV). Then in 2 Timothy 4:2-5, he encouraged Timothy: "Preach the word; be prepared in season and out of season; correct, rebuke and encourage-with great patience and careful instruction. For the time will come when people will not put up with sound doctrine. Instead, to suit their own desires, they will gather around them a great number of teachers to say what their itching ears want to hear. They will turn their ears away from the truth and turn aside to myths. But you, keep your head in all situations, endure hardship...discharge all the duties of your ministry" (NIV). So the word for you today is-stay true to the truth of God's Word.Stay true to the truth of God's WordThe importance of the truthShare This DevotionalSend a textSupport the showChanging Lives | Building Strong Family | Impacting Our Community For Jesus Christ!

We welcome actress/singer Tina Cole for a candid and captivating conversation that traces a remarkable life in show business, filled with achievements, close calls, and shocking Hollywood stories.Tina shares her deep entertainment roots that run through The King Family and Big Band history. Her mom is King Sister Yvonne and her dad is keyboard icon Buddy Cole. She and her cousins absorbed their craft playing under the piano as their parents rehearsed. She performed with The King Family on all of their TV shows and specials and she is one of the Four King Cousins. At just fourteen years old, Tina was asked to screen test opposite Gary Cooper. By age 19, she was co-starring in Hawaiian Eye with Troy Donahue and Robert Conrad!Tina speaks frankly about the perils of navigating Hollywood as a young woman. She was hit on by studio heads, co-stars, The Beatles, Troy Donahue and her Bill Cosby near-miss is truly unsettling. Her safety secret? She doesn't drink. Does the previous paragraph really mention The Beatles!? Yes, Tina was hand picked by them to attend an exclusive Bel-Air “party.” Population: Hundreds of pretty girls and The Beatles. Tina laughed off advances from John, Ringo and George as a security guard who knew her family stuck by her side. Parades of women went in and out of rooms, often emerging in tears when their encounter did not appear to be leading to love and marriage. Paul had eyes only for his one date. Perhaps it was Linda.Did you know that Tina had previously guest starred on My Three Sons three times before landing the role of Katie Miller Douglas. The producers auditioned almost every young actress in Hollywood without finding that perfect girl. Desperate, they started looking through previous seasons, found Tina, called her in and as soon as Free MacMurray and his wife signed off on her, she had the role. And we learn that when it comes to winning the heart of Tina Cole, Don Grady has more game than The Beatles. Yes, Robbie and Katie were a real-life couple! Although, for various reasons, star-crossed, their forever together remains in their hearts.Of course we bring you an IMDB Roulette that turns into a thrill ride through classic Hollywood, plus My Three Sons trivia, Tina's spooky ghost story from a house in Sherman Oaks, which has a warm ending, and, as a perfect full-circle moment, she closes by describing the distinct, individual personalities of the legendary King Sisters. In current media --Weezy: HBO series, Heated RivalryFritz: Netflix documentary film, Cover-UpPath Points of Interest:My Three Lives by Tina ColeTina Cole on WikipediaTina Cole on IMDBTina Cole on FacebookHeated RivalryCover-Up - Netflix
