Together, they dive deep into what it means to trust God when life hurts: when the delay feels endless, the prayers seem unanswered, and the pain feels bigger than the purpose. This episode is for anyone walking through something hard (the heartbreak, the waiting, or the silence) and wondering if God is still working. We pray this podcast reminds you that pain is never wasted in God's hands. He's present in the heartbreak, He's shaping purpose through the process, and He's writing beauty into every broken place. Always stay you and stay true! Questions/topics discussed and answered: • How do you trust God's timing when life feels delayed? • How can God use pain to prepare you for purpose? • Why does God sometimes allow long seasons of waiting or difficulty? • How do you keep praying and believing when nothing seems to change? • How can gratitude and joy exist even in the middle of pain? Learn how to write authentic, diverse characters without over-explaining or fearing criticism.Writing diverse characters can feel intimidating. You want to include different voices in your story, but worry about misrepresenting them. This leads many writers to either avoid diversity altogether or fall into the trap of over-explaining everything for a mainstream gaze, thereby diluting the power of their story. In this episode, I sit down with Tiffany Grimes, founder of Burgeon Design and Editorial and an MFA-trained editor who specializes in amplifying marginalized voices. After recognizing areas for growth in her own feedback, Tiffany has spent years helping writers shed performative expectations and write with radical honesty. Here's what we cover:[05:50] Tiffany's vulnerable experience writing about a Vietnamese character and learning she wasn't the right person to tell that story.[09:00] The core framework that separates writing "about" a community versus writing "to" your community from the inside.[19:00] Why you should give yourself permission to write the stereotype first in early drafts.[20:25] How Jesinia (a deaf character in the Fourth Wing) shows why trusting your audience creates better representation.[21:00] The protection question that helps you identify when you're diluting your story for mainstream audiences.[26:45] Understanding emotional clarity and how readers' experience goes deeper than just character representation.Whether you're writing characters from your own experience or exploring different perspectives, this conversation offers compassionate guidance for creating authentic, powerful stories that honor both your characters and your readers.

You'll walk away reminded that prayer doesn't have to feel complicated or intimidating, but it is powerful, essential, and life-changing. Always stay you and stay true! Questions/topics discussed and answered: • How do I pray? • Why is prayer so important? • How do I fast? • What does it look like to pray when you don't know what to say? • Practical ways to build a consistent prayer life AND SO MUCH MORE! The Royal We (Akashic Books, 2025) is a poetic survey of a time set in a magical city that once was and is no more. It is a memoir written by Roddy Bottum, a musician and artist, that documents through prose his coming of age and out of the closet in 1980s San Francisco, a charged era of bicycle messengers, punk rock, street witches, wheatgrass, and rebellion. The book follows his travels from Los Angeles, growing up gay with no role models, to San Francisco, where he formed Faith No More and went on to tour the world relentlessly, surviving heroin addiction and the plight of AIDS, to become a queer icon. The book is an elevated wallop of tongue and insight, much more than a tell-all. There are personal tales of historical pinnacles like Kurt and Courtney, Guns N' Roses, and recaps of gold records and arena rock—but it's the testimonies of tragedy and addiction and preposterous life-spins that make this work so unique and intriguing. Bottum writes about his dark and harrowing past in a clear-eyed voice that is utterly devoid of self-pity, and his emboldened and confident pronouncements of achievement and unorthodox heroism flow in an unstoppable train that's both captivating and inspirational. A remarkable portrayal of a creative individual in emergence, a gay man figuring out how to be a gay man, and a detailed look at the nuance of 1980s pre–tech boom San Francisco, The Royal We will be greatly appreciated by people who loved Kathleen Hanna's Rebel Girl, Patti Smith's Just Kids, Hua Hsu's Stay True, and other memoirs about the artist's life. They discuss why courage is contagious, how to hold fast when culture pressures you to compromise, and the importance of finding your voice even when it feels risky. This conversation is a rallying cry for believers that truth is worth it, faith is worth it, and living boldly for Christ will always bear fruit no matter the cost. Always stay you and stay true! On this week's episode of Next Level Minds, I sit down with James Oliver, Founder and CEO of Atlas Bar. James's entrepreneurial journey is anything but ordinary—starting in a college kitchen, driving over 3,000 Uber rides to self-fund his vision, and ultimately bootstrapping Atlas Bar into one of the fastest-growing protein bar brands in the country—all without raising a single dollar of outside capital. From running 100 miles in six days fueled only by Atlas Bars, to refusing shortcuts in product quality, he embodies principle-driven entrepreneurship at the highest level. We dive into the mindset required to turn grit into growth, how to build customer trust in a noisy marketplace, and the lessons James has learned about resilience, conviction, and scaling a business the right way. If you're an aspiring entrepreneur, health enthusiast, or someone looking for a story of relentless perseverance, this is an episode you won't want to miss. Buy Atlas protein bars here!

TikTok claims to have banned “SkinnyTok,” but disordered eating content continues to thrive under rebranded hashtags, edited images, and wellness culture language. In this eye-opening episode of Dr. Marianne-Land, Dr. Marianne Miller is joined by eating disorder prevention advocate and educator Jen Tomei (@askjenup) to unpack the rise of SkinnyTok and its harmful influence on teens and adults alike. Jen, founder of the Jenup Community in the UK, shares firsthand experiences of discovering disturbing content on TikTok—even after reporting and flagging videos, the algorithm continued pushing them. Together, she and Dr. Marianne draw chilling parallels to the pro-ana forums of the early 2000s, and explore how new forms of tech—including AI-edited bodies—are further distorting body image online. They also examine how neurodivergent teens, who are often more vulnerable to extreme thinking and sensory overload, may be especially impacted by these trends. Plus, they critique the rise of weight loss drugs like Ozempic and their potential to normalize restriction—even in pediatric settings. WHAT YOU'LL LEARN IN THIS EPISODE: Why SkinnyTok still exists despite being technically banned How TikTok's algorithm can push disordered content—even without user interaction What “pro-ana” and “thinspo” culture looks like in 2025 The physiological damage caused by overexercise and undereating How social media is shaping disordered eating culture in schools globally The link between ADHD, cortisol, and disordered eating behaviors How weight loss drugs like Ozempic may impact teens' mental and physical health Why media literacy and early intervention in schools are urgently needed CONTENT CAUTIONS: This episode includes discussion of disordered eating, anorexia, pro-eating disorder content, social media harm, and weight loss medications including Ozempic and Zepbound. MEET OUR GUEST: Jen Tomei is the founder of Jenup.com, a UK-based organization providing school workshops on eating disorder prevention, body image, and self-esteem. A survivor of an eating disorder and a late-diagnosed ADHD adult, Jen brings both lived experience and professional insight into the complex intersection of neurodivergence, mental health, and diet culture.
