Prolific video essayist FD Signifier returns to Bad Faith Pod for a comprehensive analysis of the controversy surrounding left electeds' abandonment of 2020 era policy commitments and principles coined "Woke 1" by New York City Council member Chi Ossé, and made viral by AOC on the Sunday news last weekend. While members of the Platner left have argued that rejecting "woke one" simply means abandoning the excesses of cancel culture and identitarian jargon like "Latinx," several DSA candidates or electeds, from Francesca Hong and William Lawrence to AOC and Zohran Mamdani himself, have explicitly rejected firm BLM-era policy commitments like defund the police. And some, like Lawrence and AOC, even explicitly rejected their DSA affiliation in part or in whole. This brings a question we've been asking for about a year now front and center: Is it worth it to "win" if you have to sacrifice your principles to get there? If Zohran can do such a 180 on defund, how much confidence do we have with respect to his solidarity with Palestine? Why call yourself "socialist" if you're unwilling to stand behind the DSA platform, or if you're going to become an NPYD booster? And how did the left media ecosystem let this happen? Does "winning" within the Democratic party, in fact, help the left? Find Bad Faith on Apple, Spotify, Stitcher, and Google Podcasts. Or subscribe to our RSS feed. This week, we are sharing an historic conversation among Ohio comic book royalty: Prolific, award-winning creators Brian Michael Bendis and Marc Andreyko. The conversation was moderated by Mike Sangiacomo, one of the Founders of the Siegel and Shuster Society. Recorded live on July 11, 2026, at the Cleveland Public Library as part of the weekend-long Icons Fest held in conjunction with the Icons in Ink: The Jewish Comics Experience exhibit at the Maltz Museum of Jewish Heritage (on display until August 23, 2026). Growing up together in Northeast Ohio, Bendis and Andreyko first teamed up as friends to create the true crime comic book series Torso, the story of the "Torso Murders" in Cleveland in the 1930s when Eliot Ness was the city's Safety Director. Their wide-ranging conversation included stories about their early collaboration and the on-going challenge of bringing Torso to the screen, their storied careers in the comic book and entertainment industries, and Cleveland Public Library's role in Bendis's decision to go to DC to write for Superman. Brian Michael Bendis was born in Cleveland, took classes at Cleveland Institute of Art, and did work for several Cleveland-area newspapers and magazines in his early career. He has co-created characters like Miles Morales, Jessica Jones, and dozens of others that populate the Marvel, DC and all-new original universes. He is a New York Times bestseller and has won numerous awards for his work, including multiple Eisner Awards and a Peabody for Jessica Jones. Bendis was Executive Producer of the Academy Award winning hit Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse. Bendis' fabled move to DC Entertainment after nearly two decades at Marvel made international headlines, making his DC debut in the landmark Action Comics 1000. Bendis continues to be a prolific creator, producer, Marc Andreyko grew up in Mentor, graduated from Mentor High School, and co-created the character Kate Spencer/Manhunter for DC and was the original writer on Wonder Woman '77. He has written comics for Dark Horse, DC, IDW, Image, and Marvel. Michael Sangiacomo is a long-time writer of articles on Superman and the comics industry for the Cleveland Plain Dealer. In 2006, he penned an article that urged Cleveland to embrace the creators of Superman, Jerry Siegel and Joe Shuster, and this led to the creation of the Siegel and Shuster Society of which he was a founding board member. Sangiacomo has also taught comic book history at Case Western Reserve University and is a comics writer himself. The volume problem in AI is solved. Now it's all about data quality, and who gets to define it. Enzo Blindow is VP of Data & AI at Prolific, a platform that connects hundreds of thousands of people worldwide to the frontier labs and enterprises training and evaluating AI models. In this conversation with Liam, Enzo breaks down what actually goes into building high-quality training data, why models lean too hard into stereotypes, and the research Prolific published showing how easily AI can be nudged toward commercially motivated, and sometimes harmful, suggestions. Instead, he turns themes like revenge, technology, wealth inequality, and modern absurdity into highly narrative “revenge ballads” that sound like nothing else in your feed. In this episode of Marketer of the Day, Igor dive deep into Revenge Ballads, his Eastern European‑flavored concept album built around mythological betrayals, World War II stories, Slavic legends, and real-life payback. Igor breaks down how he structures albums around a single powerful idea, like the life of a musician, the dark side of technology, or revenge, and then crafts songs such as “Medea” and “The Last Voyage of the Gray Gull” to tell fully realized stories instead of generic “vibe” tracks. You'll hear how he keeps 15 songs moving through the same stages at once, so he can release more music without compromising on depth or quality. Rather than waiting for inspiration, Igor treats songwriting as a disciplined, repeatable process. He shares his 70% rule for quality control, why he genuinely likes every song that makes it onto an album, and how he balances volume with standards so nothing feels like filler. If you've ever wondered how a truly prolific artist thinks about arrangements, lyrics, and themes, you'll get a behind-the-scenes look at how Igor turns complex ideas, like concentration camps, self-driving cars, and billionaire culture, into songs that are actually coherent, meaningful, and emotionally resonant. Igor also takes a strong stand on AI music and what it means for real artists. While he's not afraid to use tools for basic tasks like spell-checking, he draws a hard line at letting AI “create” his work. To him, art is communication, and an AI band can't sit in the room with an audience, tell a true story, or convey lived emotion. In response, he's doubling down on human performance, converting his catalog into solo piano and voice arrangements, practicing for hours a day, and creating new music with a vibe reminiscent of Erik Satie. https://youtu.be/Cy-elDY-0EE?si=dorrD9xrgxyr10R- If you're a musician, creator, or storyteller who feels suffocated by formulaic content and algorithm-driven sameness, this conversation will show you another way: build a body of work around bold themes, set your own quality bar, and remember that art's real job is to communicate something that matters. Igor's motto, “Ultio et Pax” vengeance and peace, perfectly sums up his approach: intense, thoughtful, and unapologetically human. Quotes: “Art, music, visual art, film; is essentially communication, and you have to try to communicate something to your audience.” “Once you start singing them, you feel like you own them, they feel like they belong to you, and you're setting them free in the world.” “I have things to say, and it's important for me to say them to people; this is the best way I can think of at the moment to relate to an audience.” Contact Details: Visit Igor Keller's Facebook Page Listen, Watch, and Join the Longboat Journey Join the Longboat Crew on Instagram Follow The Great Longboat Podcast on Spotify Subscribe to Longboat on YouTube Tune In to The Great Longboat Podcast

Garrett Morgan was a prolific inventor. He invented the gas mask. The three-way traffic light. The self-extinguishing cigarette. He even created a hair care line. But, as a Black man, he had to be creative in how he presented his inventions to the public. He knew that some people would refuse to buy his invention if they discovered that it had been invented by a Black man. So? Sometimes he hired white actors to play the role of Garrett Morgan. Sometimes he posed as his own assistant. In short, he did what he had to do to get people to take his inventions seriously.Remember, kids, history hoes always cite their sources! "Hee hee. Ow!" Those are the noises you make when a laser from an alien spacecraft shoots you in 1967 Manitoba. Or when a diamond-shaped craft in rural Texas bathes you in radiation on a cold December night in 1980. Or when you're just trying to sleep on a Brazilian island and something called "Chupa Chupa" decides to use you as a snack. Those incidents -and hundreds like them = add up to something even stranger than the aliens, cryptids, or apparitions themselves. A pattern. A map. A theory that explains all of it. You're going to find out what that is in this episode. By the time you finish listening to this episode, perhaps by the time you've finished reading this sentence, this week's guest will have finished writing yet another fact-supported, heavily detailed, richly sourced book about ancient archaeology. Or alien sightings. Or religious apparitions. Or cryptids. Or climate shifts across the millennia. Yes, any of those topics. And yes, a full book.
