Break out the bug juice—it’s summer camp week on Unorthodox! We’re talking campfires, Color War, and Mark’s traumatic summer at a nudist camp. Our first guest is Sandy Fox, a doctoral candidate studying language and everyday life in Zionist, Yiddishist, and denominational summer camps. She’s also the founder of Vaybertaytsh, a feminist podcast entirely in Yiddish. She explains how different Jewish ideologies shaped each kind of camp, tells us about a post-war summer camp for children of Holocaust survivors, and breaks the news that while summer camp is distinctly Jewish in many ways, Jews didn’t actually invent it (we totally reshaped color war, though). Micah Hart, co-host of the podcast Campfires and Color Wars, talks to us about what summers were like as the camp director’s son, the difference between a Jewish camp and a camp where most of the campers happen to be Jewish, and what it means to be ‘camp hot.’ We also talk to writer Jordana Horn, who hated camp but whose kids love it—all six of them are attending some form of Jewish camp this summer. She tells us how Jewish camps give her children a space to develop their own Jewish identity and community, how social media has changed the camp experience for campers and their parents, and what really goes down when the kids ship out for the summer. The International Day of Peace Vigil is a global undertaking that requires the efforts of many people of all faiths and beliefs to be successful. Red Velvet Media encourages you to support the United Nations' call for a full day of global ceasefire on 21 September by observing the day in spiritual contemplation for peace, global ceasefire and nonviolence with other members of your community and/or the broader interfaith community. Each year the International Day of Peace is observed around the world on 21 September. The General Assembly has declared this as a day devoted to strengthening the ideals of peace, both within and among all nations and peoples. The theme of this year’s commemoration is “Partnerships for Peace – Dignity for All” which aims to highlight the importance of all segments of society to work together to strive for peace. The work of the United Nations would not be possible without the initial partnerships that were active in its creation and the thousands of partnerships each year between governments, civil society, the private sector, faith-based groups and other non-governmental organizations that are needed to support the Organization in achieving its future goals. The International Day of Peace was established in 1981 by the United Nations General Assembly to coincide with its opening session, which was held annually on the third Tuesday of September. The first Peace Day was observed in September 1982. The United Nations invites all nations and people to honour a cessation of hostilities during the Day, and to otherwise commemorate the Day through education and public awareness on issues related to peace. In the words of John Lennon, Give Peace a chance.

It all began in 2004 while honeymooning on the beautiful island of Kauai. One morning we were meditating on Poipu Beach. As part of our meditation, we sent positive intentions for the planet into the ocean, visualizing that energy going through the water out into the world so that anyone who was touching the water would receive our positive intentions. After our meditation, we walked into town for lunch. On the table of the restaurant was a local publication called "Inspiration Magazine". The feature story read “The Miracle of Water ~ Send your Blessings into the World” the work of famous water researcher Dr. Masaru Emoto. It was an article on water and its unique ability to retain and reflect vibrational information. We said “Wow, we were just doing this!” After returning back to the mainland we started to tape positive words on our bottles of water, inspiring family and friends to do the same. If water was receptive, we wanted to give it something positive to receive.A few months later we saw the hit movie “What the Bleep Do We Know!?” There it was again, documentation of water's receptivity and our connection as water beings, to effect the world around us by creating positive thoughts for ourselves and the water around us (other people and our water planet). The morning after seeing the film, at 5am, Lex awoke from a powerful dream and saw a banner, with images of the bottles and the name “H2Om ~ water with intention”, and the motto " Think it while you drink it" floating in front of him. That was the day we decided a message so strong should not be ignored, and we started the process of creating H2Om Water with Intention. Almost two years later on February 14th 2006, we opened our doors for business.

This year they launch their exciting new line of inspirational products and the nation's first 100% RECYCLED RPET plastic bottle, completely eliminating their dependence on new petroleum and virgin resources. They will discuss the positive power and impact that colors, mandalas and our words have on our daily lives, and why it is so important to consciously create positive intention in your life. In the Spring of 2009 TIME Magazine recognized H2Om as the leader in this movement and wrote "Move over organic, fair trade and free range, the latest in enlightened edibles is here, food with positive intentions." and dedicated a full page to the company and their mission. Joining H2Om founders on the show will be prosperity mentor Marilyn Jenett, founder of the Feel Free to Prosper program, speaking on the power of our words and how our subconscious mind has the ability to manifest all that we desire. She will also discuss Universal laws and principles for changing your life by changing your words, thoughts and feelings. Marilyn states that, "Every word we speak, every thought we think, and every emotion we feel is recorded in the subconscious mind. Through repetition or with enough faith or emotional impact, the subconscious will accept our words as a command and will create subjectively and also attract and magnetize circumstances, conditions and persons to ensure the manifestation of our “order." Even words spoken casually can bypass the conscious mind and drop into the subconscious and take root. It has been said, “the subconscious mind cannot take a joke.” Seemingly harmless expressions, if accepted by the subconscious, can produce undesirable results in our lives."
Sandy is the bereaved parent of an only Child, she has authored a book and travels around speaking to groups and helping people cope with their loss.
