Give Peace Its Only Real Chance - Liberate the Iranian People

President Trump's meeting this week with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu could finally precipitate the end of the still-metastasizing sharia-supremacist regime in Iran. Alternatively, it could result in failure by allowing the Iranian mullahocracy literally to get away with murder and continue its preparations to unleash truly apocalyptic destruction.  That is not hyperbole. Rather, it is the mission statement of the official religion of Iran, which holds that only such devastation will bring back its messiah.  Mr. Trump is being told that giving the ayatollahs more time to make a deal could actually eliminate the threat they pose. It ain't gonna happen. Mr. President: Give peace the only chance that will actually make a difference: Help liberate the people of Iran from the tyrants who will otherwise continue to murder them and eventually fulfill the regime's mantra of “Death to America.” This is Frank Gaffney.

Scripture (NIV): Isaiah 41:10 — “So do not fear, for I am with you; do not be dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you and help you; I will uphold you with my righteous right hand.”Romans 15:13 — “May the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace as you trust in him, so that you may overflow with hope by the power of the Holy Spirit.” Jesus, as night falls across Europe, fear rises in many hearts. Jesus meets us here — offering strength for tonight and hope for tomorrow. From London to Warsaw, Vienna, Copenhagen, Madrid, and Tallinn — may the peace of Christ rest upon Europe tonight. PRAYER  Jesus, as darkness settles across Europe, we bring You every fear of tomorrow. Many hearts tonight feel uncertain about jobs, finances, relationships, and the direction of life. Speak Your steadying peace into every anxious thought. Silence the lies that say we will not make it. Lift the weight that presses heavily on the chest and calm the mind that races ahead into imagined troubles. Lord, stand with those who feel alone, abandoned, or overwhelmed. Strengthen those who dread the morning. For every person lying awake under the strain of responsibility, remind them that You uphold us with Your righteous right hand. Let Your hope fill the weary, let the Holy Spirit breathe courage into the discouraged, and let Your love anchor those who feel unstable or insecure. Jesus, bring peace to the households of Europe — to workers, families, single parents, carers, students, the elderly, and those struggling silently. Hold the nations of Europe in Your rest tonight. He came of age in the kaleidoscopic '90s, working with Cibo Matto and issuing his first solo album, 1998's Into the Sun, on the Beastie Boys' Grand Royal label, while beginning a long stint playing in his mother Yoko Ono's band. In the following decade he formed the psychedelic duo the Ghost of a Saber Tooth Tiger and the improvisational prog group Mystical Weapons. As his musical interests expanded further, he teamed with Les Claypool to form the hard-to-categorize project the Claypool Lennon Delirium, branched out into film scoring, explored more mainstream territory as he worked with artists like Lana Del Ray, Lady Gaga and Lily Allen, and delved into jazz as well. With a musical résumé spanning decades and featuring collaborations with Australian music royalty, he somehow manages to be both ubiquitous and humble in equal measure. In this intimate conversation, we discover how one of rock's busiest guitarists balances his creative life. When scrolling through Ashley's social media, the sheer volume of his musical commitments is exhausting—Hendrix tributes at Cherry Bar, Bowie celebrations at the Odeon, performances with The Church, Paul Kelly tours, and the list goes on. "I have to keep playing, otherwise you'll lose your touch," he explains with characteristic understatement, revealing the disciplined professional beneath the laid-back demeanor. Recently serving as music director for the John Lennon tribute "Give Peace a Chance," Ashley brings the same meticulous attention to coordinating others that he applies to his own musical endeavors. The most exciting revelation comes with discussion of "Alexandria Sunset," Ashley's first solo album in over a decade, where he plays and sings every note himself. "While I've got my faculties, I'll do a record where I can play everything on it," he says, explaining his approach to capturing songs when they're fresh rather than creating separate demos. Drawing inspiration from 60s and 70s rock, especially evident in his Donovan-influenced dreamy tracks, Ashley continues crafting music that feels simultaneously nostalgic and relevant. And in true Ashley Naylor fashion, he's simultaneously working on three separate album projects.Discover the music, methodology, and mindset of a guitarist whose relentless creativity and humble approach to collaboration have made him one of Australia's most respected musicians. Follow Ashley on social media and pre-order his new album through Bandcamp now. What has Ash Naylor been up to lately?  Let's find out!Get out when you can, support local music and I'll see you down the front!!Visit: ThatRadioChick.com.au

In a letter to the editor, written in a blog, by contacting your lawmakers, taking it to the streets and there are many other ways. Pete Seeger was known for his songs protesting mistreatment of workers and war itself, and over time there has been a great abundance of songs and actions of protest. Marvin Gaye, CCR, Nina Simone, Dylan, Lennon and many others wrote and performed their protest songs from What's Goin' on?, Blowin' in the Wind to Fortunate Son, Give Peace a chance and Strange Fruit. In the future you'll hear an episode of Tales Vinyl Tells dedicated to protest songs. Please send your ideas to me at TalesVinylTells@gmail.com and yours may well be included. And when you email me, please be sure to let me know who and where you are. I mention protest songs because we kick off with a real kicker from Quicksilver Messenger Service and include Petty, Joni, Cheech, Chong, Nick and more. Thanks for listening. Gerald Holtom's CND symbol, known internationally as the ‘peace' symbol, made its debut at a protest march by the Campaign for Nuclear Disarmament on 4th April, 1958.  The march went from London to Aldermaston, where Britain's nuclear weapons were and still are manufactured. Five hundred cardboard ‘lollipop sticks' displaying the logo were produced - and it's since scarcely been out of circulation as an anti-establishment plea for peace around the world. In this episode, Arion, Rebecca and Olly question whether Goya helped influence Holton's iconic design; reveal how author J.B. Priestley had fermented the protests on this day; and consider the International Shoe Corporation's dubious claim to the patent …  Further Reading: • ‘The Peace Symbol: Beginnings and Evolution' (ThoughtCo, 2019): https://www.thoughtco.com/the-peace-symbol-1779351# • ‘He gave his unforgettable work for nothing. Jesus says: “Do you think that I have come to give peace on earth? No, I tell you, but rather division” MESSAGE SUMMARY: From the Gospel of Luke (12:49-56): “Jesus the Divider” Introduction: While Jesus does bring us “Peace”, Jesus tells us that His ways are not always our ways; and Jesus does not always bring us “Peace”. In the world, we have tabulation; but Jesus has overcome the world. However, Jesus tells us, in Luke 12:49-56, that He, also, brings “division”. Today, like in the time period of Luke's Gospel, we need to pay attention to God's signs in the world. Today's Message: If we are serious about being a follower of Jesus today, we need to listen to Jesus in Luke 12:49-56. Jesus begins His Simon, to many thousands starting in Luke 12:49, with His “fire of persecution”: “I came to cast fire on the earth, and would that it were already kindled! In this passage, “fire” does not mean the Holy Spirit; “fire” means the “fire of persecution” – which is “when the Gospel is preached without compromise”. This “fire” is the hostility that occurs when the world hears the Gospel preached without compromise. Jesus continues, in Luke 12:50, with: “I have a baptism to be baptized with, and how great is my distress until it is accomplished!”. Jesus uses “baptism” to refer to His immersion in death and His separation from the Father on the cross, but death would not hold Him. Continuing with Luke 12:51, Jesus tells us: “Do you think that I have come to give peace on earth? No, I tell you, but rather division. For from now on in one house there will be five divided, three against two and two against three. They will be divided, father against son and son against father, mother against daughter and daughter against mother, mother-in-law against her daughter-in-law and daughter-in-law against mother-in-law.”. How does this statement of “division” rather than “Peace” reconcile to Jesus' other statements regarding His bringing “Peace” into the world? This apparent contradiction, regarding Jesus and His “Peace”, can be addressed by considering the five ways the word “Peace” is used in the Bible [as presented in the audio teaching]: 1) an attribute of God; 2) fruit of the Holy Spirit: 3) a state of mind; 4) absence of conflict; and 5) being in right relationship with God through Jesus. Therefore, when Jesus, in Luke 12:51, says that: “Do you think that I have come to give peace on earth? No, I tell you, but rather division.”, Jesus is referring to the Bible's use of “Peace” regarding an “absence of conflict”. Jesus is telling His followers that He, the Gospel, and His followers have come to disrupt and confront. However, Jesus wants to have “Peace” in the other four contexts of “Peace”. In Jesus, we do have “Peace”; but when we do stand with and for Jesus, “division” and conflict are created. In this passage from Luke, Jesus wants His followers to know that following Him will have a cost in terms of conflict and worldly tribulation. Many in and of the world will not tolerate our communication of the Gospel. Jesus is not saying that “division” is good. Rather, Jesus, in John 17:22-23, expresses His desire, to the Father, for His followers to all be one with Him and the Father. However, Jesus is warning us that “division” is inevitable because we are human and sinners. Jesus ends His message to those assembled, in Luke 12:54-56, with: “He also said to the crowds, ‘When you see a cloud rising in the west, you say at once, ‘A shower is coming.' And so it happens. And when you see the south wind blowing, you say, ‘There will be scorching heat,' and it happens. You hypocrites! You know how to interpret the appearance of earth and sky, but why do you not know how to interpret the present time?'". In this passage, Jesus was pointing toward His purpose on earth and the cross; but no one understood His message at the time period of His teaching in Luke – they could not read God's signs. Do we see and follow God's signs, or do we miss them and become party to creating “divisions”?   TODAY'S PRAYER: Father, I confess that when difficulties and trials come into my life, large or small, I mostly grumble and complain. I realize the trials James talks about are not necessarily “walls,” but they are difficult to bear, nonetheless. Fill me with such a vision of a transformed life, O God, that I might actually consider it “pure joy” when you bring trials my way. I believe, Lord. Help my unbelief. In Jesus' name, amen. Scazzero, Peter, Emotionally Healthy Spirituality Day by Day (p. 94). Zondervan. Kindle Edition. TODAY'S AFFIRMATION: Today, I affirm that because of what God has done for me in His Son, Jesus, I AM FILLED WITH THE HOLY SPIRIT. If you then, though you are evil, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will your Father in heaven give the Holy Spirit to those who ask him! What are Israeli priorities? How important is the return of hostages relative to total victory? What is Netanyahu thinking? What is the Israeli Left thinking? Is there an anti-war movement in Israel? Do American categories make any sense within the Israeli political context?Washington Post political columnist Jason Willick joins Shadi and Damir to answer these questions. He just returned from a fact-finding mission in Israel, and the news he brings is complicated. On the one hand, there is more widespread support for the war in Israel than there is anywhere else. On the other, the divisions within Israeli politics run deep, especially regarding the details of a post-war settlement. As discussion of Israeli views develops into a critique of those views, Jason and Damir question Shadi's abiding moralism, asking whether ideas like “just war” and “proportionality” are helpful in making sense of war and combat. The debate then turns to whether Hamas is a legitimate representative of the Palestinian people. Could the Israeli government ever accept Hamas as a negotiating partner in establishing a post-war Gaza? Would doing so give a tacit victory to Hamas, and legitimize political violence? Can anything be resolved without continuing this war? And will this war ever end? Tough questions, discussed with wryness and charm. This is a Wisdom of Crowds episode you will not want to miss.Required Reading:* “If Biden thinks Israel's liberals are doves, he's dreaming,” by Jason Willick (Washington Post).* “Hamas' Bid for Revolutionary Legitimacy,” by Damir Marusic (Wisdom of Crowds).* “In the Israeli-Palestinian debate, you might be wrong. My podcasts on The Ancient Art of Modern Warfare presented the elements of war that I think every citizen should know in holding our elected representatives responsible for decisions about going to and prosecuting war. The time has come in this series to move from war to peace. The most important consideration in going to and in prosecuting war is that it is the only way to correct a grave injustice and bring about a more just and lasting peace. Correcting this grave injustice must outweigh the death and destruction unavoidable in any war. Defending against the unjust attack of an aggressor and repelling the attacker's forces from the territory captured in that attack is, perhaps the only clear justification, although there is debate about the use of military force to stop grave violations of international law, and particularly those which could be considered crimes against humanity. Again, this must be done with the clear end state in view of restoring peace.  Once the iron dice of war are rolled, however, Clausewitz's trinity of passion, reason, and chance can lead us to places we did not intend to go.  These closing episodes of the Ancient Art of Modern Warfare we explore the transition from the violence of war to that more just peace.   Music: Copland, A. & United States Marine Band.
