On Thanksgiving night, a time honored tradition as I wait for the minutes to tick down for the Vinegar Syndrome and Severin Films Black Friday Blu-ray sales is to watch the 1987 slasher classic Blood Rage (also known as A Nightmare at Shadow Woods or simply – Slasher). I discovered this flick when Arrow Video […]
Thanksgiving's right around the corner, and David and Justus are celebrating with this obscure 80's Thanksgiving slasher. It might have three different official titles and be really hard to find on the internet, but that can't be because it's a bad movie, right? Set the table and say grace with David, Justus, gigachad slasher Terry, Condom Salesman Ted Raimi, and Sloppy Drunk Single Mom. That's not cranberry sauce, it's a delicious Thanksgiving themed installment of the Greatest Movie Ever Made! Blood Rage (1987) is directed by John Grissmer and stars Louise Lasser, Mark Soper, Marianne Kanter, Julie Gordon, and Jayne Bentzen. Music: “Fractals” by Kyle Casey and White Bat Audio

Blood Rage (1987) Directed By: John Grissmer Starring: Louise Lasser, Mark Soper, Julie Gordon, some fucker named Brad Maybe you know it as "Nightmare at Shadow Woods" or "Slasher" (real original name there), but we're talking about the 1987 film Blood Rage, which takes place around American Thanksgiving - a pair of young twins get up to twin stuff, you know, like murdering some dude at the drive in. The bad one blames the good one and the good one goes away. But now it's 10 years later and the good one is getting out, so is there hell to pay? IMDB describes this movie as: "A boy kills a man and accuses his twin brother of the murder, and the innocent brother ends up institutionalized, while his psychotic twin goes free. 10 years later, the innocent twin escapes, which triggers his brother into killing again." Something something something, a weird relationship with the mother and hilarity ensues. We Also Talked About: Blood Harvest (TubiTv) Gilmore Girls (Season 7) (Netflix) Meth Gator (TubiTv) Repligator (TubiTv) I'm sensing a theme here... That's not cranberry sauce!!!Blood Rage (also known as Nightmare at Shadow Woods and Slasher) is a 1987 American slasher film directed by John Grissmer, written by Bruce Rubin, and starring Louise Lasser, Mark Soper, and Julie Gordon. Set on Thanksgiving, the film follows a woman and her adult son who are stalked at their remote apartment community by the son's unhinged twin brother who has escaped from a psychiatric institution after allegedly killing a man in cold blood years earlier.Watch it hereTUBIYOUTUBE
Does anyone remember that Rage in a Cage song? I'm not talking about that J. Geils Band song but that nu-metal one. And no, not the Pantera song either. Anyway, that was what I referencing for that one joke where I spontaneously broke into song. I thought it was funny. Anyway, here we are. Thanksgiving is on the horizon! We are nearing the end of another year of living. And here we are watching a film about a twin who murders all in his path, especially if you exhibit any form of sexual interaction with another human being. This man is beyond delighted to enact his jealous fueled celibacy rage. This is Blood Rage, AKA Slasher, AKA Complex, AKA Nightmare at Shadow Woods. A film with that many titles has to be 4 times as good!
Happy Thanksgiving 2021! We are SOOOO Thankful to all of you listeners who keeps us going every week, and also thankful to the fabulous Miss Leah Shannon who returned to play with us on this holiday! This year, because we're are suckers for a decapitated half still moving, cranberry sauce (or not?) and moms with boobage at your holiday dinners, we tackled that other Thanksgiving horror favorite “Blood Rage”, aka “Slasher”, aka “Nightmare at Shadow Woods” . www.thedollsofhorror.com . Chris & Kelsey are thankful for two more movies that are only tangentially related to the holiday. The Classic Film: Blood Rage (1987), aka Slasher, aka Nightmare at Shadow Woods "A boy kills a man and accuses his twin brother of the murder, and the innocent brother ends up institutionalized while his psychotic twin goes free. 10 years later, the innocent twin escapes, which triggers his brother into killing again” (IMDb.com). This overlooked gem from the slasher boom era of the 80s has more to offer than you might assume at first glance. Creative effects, ridiculous characters, and a killer soundtrack make us wonder why people don't talk about it more often. The Modern Film: Escape Room (2019) "Six strangers find themselves in a maze of deadly mystery rooms and must use their wits to survive” (IMDb.com). It may be all kinds of dumb, but the more authentic escape room touches and playful camerawork still make this movie pretty fun. Just don't expect anything profound or life-changing. We know it as Blood Rage, available for free on Amazon Prime. Ten years ago when they were kids Terry Simmons framed his twin brother Todd for a brutal murder. Todd got locked away in an institution. Now it’s Thanksgiving Day and the family just learned that Todd broke out and he wants to prove his innocence. But Terry has other plans. Join us as we dissect this Thanksgiving classic. Colin emphatically declares "It's not cranberry sauce!" while surveying the crimson carnage of the holiday slasher Blood Rage (1987). Terry and Todd are identical twins. One of them is a psychopathic killer. After escaping from a mental hospital on Thanksgiving, he of them heads back home to bring a nightmare to the tenants of the Shadow Woods apartment complex. Listen as we talk about condom salesmen, Oedipal complexes, pumpkin pie mutilation, and bloody mayhem on this week's exciting show! See acast.com/privacy for privacy and opt-out information.
Thanksgiving - the time of turkey, football, and time with family...but, not really the time for themed movies. While there are plenty of other holidays that also have a shortage of movies, Thanksgiving feels especially abandoned. Maybe it's just because it is sandwiched between the heavy hitters of Halloween and Christmas (of which there is a plethora of themed holiday movies), so the lack of Thanksgiving movies is more noticeable in comparison. Maybe it's because most of the themes that would be covered in Thanksgiving movies are covered by Halloween and Christmas (e.g. autumn, family, food). But, because there isn't an abundance of Thanksgiving movies in which to get lost, that does tend to mean that the Thanksgiving movies you do see will be more memorable. And there are few that are more memorable than Blood Rage (a.k.a. Slasher, a.k.a. Nightmare at Shadow Woods)! Despite appearing laughably bad on the surface at times, this blood-soaked slasher has a surprising amount of technical proficiency and psychological underpinnings - so much so, that the majority of this episode actually focuses on the technical components of this film and how deceptively amazing they are! Blood Rage became an instant Thanksgiving tradition of mine when I saw it for the first time last year - and I highly recommend that it become one of your traditions as well (if you are a fan of horror movies, that is)! It’s that time of year again where I search the world of horror movies to find one to be thankful for. This year we look at the 1987 film Blood Rage (also known as Slasher or Nightmare at Shadow Woods). What happens when the wrongly accused twin breaks out of his mental hospital only to head back home for Thanksgiving? Why murder, nudity and zaniness of course! Will Todd get redemption? Will Terry get away with the killing? Listen and find out!
