Welcome to Multiverse News, Your source for Information about all your favorite fictional universes.Last week Disney pushed Avengers: Doomsday from its May 1, 2026 release to December 18, 2026 and Avengers: Secret Wars from May 7, 2027 to December 18, 2027. The studio also removed several unannounced Marvel titles from its release calendar: a February 13, 2026 dated release has been removed entirely while November 2026 and 2027 releases have been rebranded from untitled Marvel films, to untitled Disney films.Memorial Day weekend's $326.7 million haul at the domestic box office was enough to earn it the title of the highest grossing Memorial Day weekend ever, with newcomer, Disney's live action Lilo & Stitch remake leading the way with $183 million, overtaking Top Gun: Maverick's $160 million weekend from 2022. Speaking of Tom Cruise, he was no slouch either, with the Mission: Impossible franchise's latest and supposed final installment, The Final Reckoning, earning a franchise high of $77.5 million. While appearing on a recent episode of The Box Office Podcast, Ryan Reynolds revealed he pitched an R-rated Star Wars film to Disney, saying, “I pitched to Disney, I said, ‘Why don't we do an R-rated “Star Wars” property? It doesn't have to be overt, A+ characters. There's a wide range of characters you could use,'” he said. “And I don't mean R-rated to be vulgar. R-rated as a Trojan horse for emotion. I always wonder why studios don't want to just gamble on something like that.” The Deadpool actor clarified the film would not be for him to star in, but contribute behind the scenes by writing and producing. Notably absent from the conversation is Disney's reception to the pitch. After an extensive search auditioning more than 30,000 actors, HBO's Harry Potter series has finally found its Harry, Hermoine and Ron, as Dominic McLaughlin, Arabella Stanton, and Alastair Stout have been cast in the respective roles. Much like their predecessors from the films, our three leads are relative newcomers, with McLaughlin appearing alongside Hagrid-actor Nick Frost in the upcoming Sky comedy, Grow, and Stanton having starred as Matilda in Matilda The Musical on West End from 2023 to 2024, while this will be Stout's first significant role.Kieran Culkin has been cast as Caesar Flickerman in Hunger Games: Sunrise on the Reaping, The Hollywood Reporter has learned exclusively. The reboot of medical comedy Scrubs from Bill Lawrence and ABC currently in development has officially cast Zach Braff who will return to the series to reprise the role of JD, a character he played for 9 seasons.A24 confirmed Alex Garland will write and direct a live-action Elden Ring film with Bandai Namco Entertainment. The acclaimed game won the 2022 Game of the Year Award and has sold over 30 million copies. The Wheel of Time has been canceled after three seasons at Amazon‘s Prime Video. The series, from Sony Pictures Television and Amazon MGM Studios and based on Robert Jordan's best-selling series of fantasy novels, aired its third-season finale on April 17.James Gunn confirmed DC Studios will attend Comic-Con this year(July 24-27) with a panel focusing on Peacemaker season 2. The new season will feature another dance sequence in its opening credits, like season 1.Marvel and DC will be collaborating on a crossover comic between characters for the first time in two decades. A series of one shot comics will be released in September of this year featuring a crossover between Deadpool and Batman, with more character crossovers planned for next year.

Cobra Kai is an American martial arts comedy drama television series created by Josh Heald, Jon Hurwitz, and Hayden Schlossberg, and distributed by Sony Pictures Television. It serves as a sequel to the original The Karate Kid films created by Robert Mark Kamen.[1] The series premiered on May 2, 2018, and concluded on February 13, 2025, after six seasons consisting of 65 episodes. The series stars Ralph Macchio and William Zabka, reprising their respective roles as Daniel LaRusso and Johnny Lawrence from the film series, alongside Courtney Henggeler, Xolo Maridueña, Tanner Buchanan, Mary Mouser, Jacob Bertrand, Gianni DeCenzo, Peyton List, Vanessa Rubio, and Dallas Dupree Young. Martin Kove and Thomas Ian Griffith also reprise their roles from the films as part of the main cast, with many others returning in guest or recurring roles.Cobra Kai re-examines The Karate Kid films as Johnny's "redemption story,"[2] beginning with his decision to reopen the Cobra Kai karate dojo, and the rekindling of his old rivalry with Daniel.[3] The series attained high viewership on both YouTube and Netflix, and received critical acclaim for its writing, performances, action sequences, humor, character development, and faithfulness to the films. It received numerous awards and nominations, with the third season being nominated for Outstanding Comedy Series at the 73rd Primetime Emmy Awards.Thirty-four years after being defeated by Daniel LaRusso in the 1984 All-Valley Karate Tournament at the end of The Karate Kid (1984), Johnny Lawrence suffers from alcoholism and depression. He works as a part-time handyman and lives in an apartment in Reseda, Los Angeles, having fallen far from his wealthy lifestyle in Encino. He has an estranged son named Robby, from a previous relationship, whom he has abandoned. In contrast, Daniel is now the owner of a successful car dealership and is married to co-owner Amanda with whom he has two children: Sam and Anthony. However, Daniel often struggles to meaningfully connect with his children especially after his friend and mentor Mr. Miyagi passed away prior to the series' beginning. After using karate to defend his teenage neighbor Miguel Diaz from a group of bullies, Johnny agrees to teach Miguel the way of the fist and re-opens Cobra Kai. The revived dojo attracts a group of bullied social outcasts who find camaraderie and self-confidence under Johnny's tutelage. The reopening of Cobra Kai reignites Johnny's rivalry with Daniel, who responds by opening the Miyagi-do dojo, whose students include Sam and Robby, leading to a rivalry between the respective dojos.Pre

Writer / Director Josh Margolin is here to discuss turning June Squibb into a nonagenarian action star in Thelma, parental caretaking dynamics, and high speed mobility scooter chases. More about Thelma: The feature directorial debut of Josh Margolin, THELMA is a poignant action-comedy that gives veteran Oscar® nominee June Squibb (NEBRASKA and star of Scarlett Johansson's upcoming directorial debut ELEANOR THE GREAT) her first leading role and features the final performance of trailblazing actor Richard Roundtree (SHAFT). Squibb, who did many of her own stunts in the film, plays Thelma Post, a feisty 93-year-old grandmother who gets conned by a phone scammer pretending to be her grandson (The White Lotus' Fred Hechinger) and sets out on a treacherous quest across Los Angeles, accompanied by an aging friend (Roundtree) and his motorized scooter, to reclaim what was taken from her. Parker Posey, Clark Gregg, and Malcolm McDowell also star. Inspired by a real-life experience of Margolin's own grandmother, THELMA puts a clever spin on movies like MISSION: IMPOSSIBLE, shining the spotlight on an elderly grandmother as an unlikely action hero. With infectious humor, Margolin employs the familiar tropes of the action genre in hilarious, age-appropriate ways to tackle aging with agency. In the first leading film role of her 70-year career, Squibb portrays the strong-willed Thelma with grit and determination, demonstrating that she is more than capable of taking care of business – despite what her daughter Gail (Posey), son-in-law Alan (Gregg), or grandson Danny might believe More about Josh Margolin: Josh Margolin is a writer, director, editor and actor from Los Angeles. He co-wrote, edited and starred in the absurdist horror-comedy DEEP MURDER, which premiered at the LA Film Festival in 2018 and ran theatrically before streaming on Paramount+. Previously, Josh co-created the digital series MY BOYFRIEND IS A ROBOT for Freeform, and has developed projects with TBS, Sony Pictures Television, Olive Bridge and Paul Feig's Powderkeg. He performed over 100 shows with One Night Stand: An Improvised Musical, which was produced by Marc Platt and had sold-out runs at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival as well as appearances in the The New York Musical Theater Festival and a limited run in Los Angeles. X-Men Movie gets a Writer, Supergirl gets a Premiere Date, Dune: Prophecy Releases a Trailer, and IF's hype may have been imaginary

Welcome to Multiverse News, Your source for information about all your favorite fictional Universes. Milly Alcock will show us her superhero landing when Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow premieres on June 26, 2026. Other than Sasha Calle's portrayal in The Flash, this means we'll see Superman's cousin Kara Zor-El on the big screen for the first time since 1984. The film will be released just a year after we see James Gunn's vision for the man of steel himself.  In a move that seems telling of the new direction of MCU, the Marvel Television banner has been reintroduced and will be used for live action series such as Daredevil: Born Again, Agatha All Along, and Ironheart. The banner was previously used for MCU-adjacent shows Agents of SHIELD, Cloak & Dagger, and others. Brad Winderbaum, head of TV, streaming, and animation for Marvel Studios, said the idea is to let audiences know they can “jump in anywhere” in the MCU and still understand what's going on. Winderbaum also alluded to a Marvel Studios rebrand that encompasses Marvel Television, Marvel Animation, and Marvel Spotlight. HBO's streaming service Max released a teaser trailer for the upcoming Dune television spinoff show, Dune: Prophecy. The show is described as taking place 10,000 years before the events that lead to Paul Atreides' rise to emperor and will follow two Harkonnen sisters as they work to establish the Bene Gesserit. Inspired by the book Sisterhood of Dune, the show has mostly been kept under wraps until now. Movie goers probably should have bought a ticket for themselves and their imaginary friends last weekend as John Krasinski's new film IF didn't quite reach expectations with a $35 million opening in the U.S. Although this means it took first place at the box office, the movie cost $110 million to make and a global box office of $55 million is still a stumble. There may be hope yet for the kid-centered flick with a lot of schools across the country ready to enter summer break. Hot off the heels of an incredibly well received first season of X-Men '97, Marvel Studios seems to have found the voice of their live-action X-Men in screenwriter Michael Lesslie. Lesslie's writing credits include Assassin's Creed, The Hunger Games: A Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes, as well as the upcoming Now You See Me 3. While both parties are still in talks, if the addition pans out, it will be the most significant step to actualizing the X-Men in the MCU since Disney's acquisition of Fox in 2019. Poker Face and Russian Doll star Natasha Lyonne has joined the cast of Fantastic Four in an undisclosed role. Lionsgate is developing a John Wick spinoff movie around Donnie Yen's assassin character, Caine. Yen will reprise his John Wick: Chapter 4 role in the untitled project set to shoot in Hong Kong in 2025. The franchise expanding film, with no director yet announced, will follow the events of John Wick 4 as Caine has been freed from his obligations to the High Table. 1996 golf comedy Happy Gilmore is officially getting a sequel at Netflix with Adam Sandler returning to reprise his role. Amazon's Marvel drama Silk: Spider Society — from Sony Pictures Television — is no longer moving forward at the streamer but Sony does plan to shop the series to another studio or streaming service. Sony Pictures announced last week that I Know What You Did Last Summer, a reboot of the film with the same name as the original 1997 horror slasher, is set for theatrical release domestically on July 18, 2025. Jennifer Kaytin Robinson will direct and Jennifer Love Hewitt and Freddie Prinze, Jr. are currently in early talks to return. Last week, Disney announced that Hulu is teaming with the estate of author James Clavell to extend the FX series Shōgun for two additional seasons. A writer's room is currently being assembled. Shōgun is currently the most viewed show in FX's history.

Empowered Through Compassion: EMDR and IFS Informed Therapy

Season 2, Episode 24, Release Date: 3-29-2024 Compassion Through The Media   Welcome to this episode, where I was able to have a "Compassionate Conversation" with a childhood friend of mine: Eli Holzman. Eli is the CEO of The Intellectual Property Corporation, which he founded in 2016. Eli is President of Sony Pictures Television, Nonfiction. I wanted to speak with Eli about therapy, and how it is represented in the media, because Eli knows media! He is a writer and executive producer who has won numerous Primetime Emmy Awards, Critic Choice Real TV Awards, and also MTV and TV Awards.  He has over 75 shows that he has been the Executive Produce on, which include Undercover Boss, Project Runway, Leah Remini: Scientology and the Aftermath, Free Meek, American Idol and So You Think You Can Dance.   We spoke about Project Runway, and how Eli filmed this at Parsons: The New School for Deign, and positive power that the show had to influence people. Eli said, "On the show something special happened. Contestants started helping each other, they weren't cut throat. They were kind."   Eli shared that as he was building his first company he was creating Undercover Boss. "This helped me define my values." Eli shared how some of his employers led by fear, but he wanted to find another ways to lead! He recognized on Undercover Boss that "humans crave esteem as much as water and air. Just seeing someone receive this can touch us."   Eli spoke about the current crisis in television. "Our tastes have become so broad, and there are so many options out there now."    I wanted to know, what would a counseling reality show look like? We spoke about "Couple's Counseling" as one option. Eli spoke about some of the challenges of a counseling reality show. (a) people like stories were there are big changes, and drama. Counseling could be slow and incremental. (b) the topics that are covered could be very specific to the people involved. (c) TV and media are going to represent a small percetage of the population that have the personality and skills to capture the interest of an audience.   Eli said he feels it could be very helpful to explore how we can monitor our bodies, and how this information can lead us to making better decisions. He also feels that it could be interesting and important to understand more about inter-generational legacies and how these are passed down and impact us.   Eli spke about how our mental health is manipulated on a regular basis, perhap more than any other time in history. This is done by the computers that we carry around in our pockets (our smart phones). This technology is engineered to capture our attention, and is very deliberate. We are in a time in history where these devices in our pocket also hold all of the solutions to our problems-- all the answers to our mental and emotional health are within our reach, if we know how to search for them.

We are so fortunate to have another Showrunner on the podcast. This time, Hank Steinberg. In 1997, Steinberg successfully sold the cable network HBO on 61*, a biographical drama about the legendary home-run race between Roger Maris and Mickey Mantle of the 1961 Yankees. The following year, Billy Crystal came aboard as a producer on the project and subsequently directed the film, starring Thomas Jane and Barry Pepper. 61* garnered 12 Emmy nominations, including Best Motion Picture for Television and Best Writing. Steinberg was also nominated for a WGA Award for the film. Steinberg then created the CBS show Without a Trace, which aired from September 26, 2002, to May 19, 2009. Without a Trace follows the cases of a Missing Persons Unit of the FBI in New York City. During his tenure as executive producer and show-runner, the show won several Emmy awards and a Golden Globe for lead actor Anthony LaPaglia, as well as earning a SAG and Humanitas nomination. Steinberg was executive producer and show-runner of Without a Trace for the first four seasons. Afterward, Steinberg created and was showrunner/executive producer of the ABC series The Nine, which he wrote with his sister, KJ Steinberg. The show ran for one season. Steinberg co-created and was executive producer of TNT's The Last Ship ,in 2014, which ran for five seasons. The Last Ship follows a naval destroyer crew, after a pandemic kills most of Earth's population. Steinberg went on to create and serve as an executive producer of the ABC American legal drama For Life, which premiered February 11, 2020.The series is a fictional legal and family drama inspired by the life of convict turned attorney Isaac Wright, Jr. The success of the show led his Channel Road Productions company to an overall deal with Sony Pictures Television. Most recently, Steinberg landed a straight to series order with Fox for DOC, an adaptation of the Italian series of the same name.  Steinberg will executive produce under his Channel Road Productions. In this episode, we talk about: • His straight to series FOX show called Doc based on an Italian series • The story behind getting the pitch for For Life and why he had to come back to it • His advice on to get started writing for a TV show • His writing process and to just get through the first draft • Working with his sister KJ Steinberg on Nine (she is now working on This is Us) • Advice for actors approaching pilot auditions and why there are no small roles • The gentle balance between a strong pilot to hook in executives and having some discipline in holding back to have an engaging season • The genesis of Without a Trace and how they came up with the idea (question from Mentor David Grae) and why the pilot is the worst episode of a show • How he got the idea for 61* which focused on Roger Marris and Mickey Mantle's home run which was directed by Billy Crystal and garnered 12 Emmy nominations • Spec script on The Duel (Burr vs Hamilton) and his particular appreciation for Hamilton the Musical Guest: IMDb Wikipedia Variety article on new show DOC Host: Instagram: @MentorsontheMic @MichelleSimoneMiller Twitter: @MentorsontheMic @MichelleSimoneM Facebook page: https://www.facebook.com/mentorsonthemic Website: www.michellesimonemiller.com Youtube: https://www.youtube.com/user/24mmichelle If you like this episode, check out David Grae - From Spec Scripts to Executive Producer of Madam Secretary Click here to join our Mailing list. Ads: Check out Cave Day right now. The Last of Us is an American post-apocalyptic drama television series created by Craig Mazin and Neil Druckmann for HBO. Based on the 2013 video game developed by Naughty Dog, the series is set in 2023, twenty years into a pandemic caused by a mass fungal infection, which forces its hosts to transform into zombie-like creatures and collapses society. The series follows Joel (Pedro Pascal), a smuggler tasked with escorting the teenage Ellie (Bella Ramsey) across a post-apocalyptic United States. Guest stars include Nico Parker as Joel's daughter Sarah, Merle Dandridge as resistance leader Marlene, Anna Torv as Joel's partner Tess, Gabriel Luna as Joel's brother Tommy, Lamar Johnson and Keivonn Montreal Woodard as brothers Henry and Sam, and Melanie Lynskey and Jeffrey Pierce as resistance leader Kathleen and her second-in-command Perry. The Last of Us was filmed throughout Alberta from July 2021 to June 2022. It is the first HBO series based on a video game, and is a joint production by Sony Pictures Television, PlayStation Productions, Naughty Dog, the Mighty Mint, and Word Games. Druckmann, who wrote and co-directed the original game, assisted Mazin with scriptwriting for the nine episodes of the first season. The score was composed by Gustavo Santaolalla, who composed for the game, and David Fleming. The Last of Us premiered on January 15, 2023. It received acclaim from critics, who praised the performances, writing, production design, and score; several called it the best adaptation of a video game. Across linear channels and HBO Max, the series premiere was watched by 4.7 million viewers on the first day—the second-biggest for HBO since 2010—and almost 40 million within two months; by March, the first six episodes averaged over 30 million viewers. In January 2023, the series was renewed for a second season. --- Send in a voice message: https://podcasters.spotify.com/pod/show/popcorn-junkies/message

During the talk about the third episode of "The Last Of Us", Enrique talks about how if there is only 8 episodes of the season it was a waste to use this episode for Bill & Frank instead of developing Ellie & Joel more, Eli says he likes it because it was something more light in the depressing series, and Tristan dug the episode as he has no attachment to the series prior to this show coming out. Moving onto "Cyberpunk: Edgerunners" all of Da Bois have differing opinions. Eli talks about how the entirety of cyberpunk genre might not be for him after not enjoying this show, Bladerunner and Cowboy Bebop, Tristan says he loves the series and enjoyed the dynamic between David Martinez and Lucy, and Enrique enjoyed the show after the extremely cliché start but felt the post time skip content was a big blur. Aubrey Plaza is one of them and according to some casting details it can be assumed that Ali Ahn is also part of them."   MCU – TIMELINE   Will the MCU Ever End? Marvel Studios VP Nate Moore Responds https://www.cbr.com/will-mcu-end-marvel-studios-vp-nate-moore/ Marvel Studios' Vice President of Production and Development Nate Moore doesn't see the Marvel Cinematic Universe ending any time soon.   Speaking on The Town with Matthew Belloni podcast, Moore believes that the franchise can continue on for "a long time," insisting that the creative teams behind the MCU still have plenty of stories to tell. "To me, Marvel movies are just movies," said the filmmaker. "Our source material is just… It'd be like saying, 'Hey, are movies about books gonna go on forever?' Probably." Despite this confidence, Moore elaborated by emphasizing that Marvel Studios can't rest easy with the established formula. "I think we have to continue to… We can't sit back on our laurels. We can't think we have the answers. We have to continue to push the envelope as far as genre and what we're willing to explore."   OUTRO AND BONUS AUDIO [1:11:54]   Join Legends Of S.H.I.E.L.D. next time as the Agents discuss the Marvel Studios 2022 film Thor Love And Thunder. Jason Clodfelter is hardly whom you might think of when you imagine a big Hollywood Studio TV (Co) President. He's sensitive, caring, personable, charming, thoughtful, and an artist - a fantastic writer, director, actor, and collaborator. Risa got to know Jason in class every week where the work was intimate and intense, and he went all in. And, as he tells us here, his job at Sony TV became an act of artistry, something he needed if he was going to continue to work in what can be considered a soul-sucking job. But he found another way! And listen in to what Jason says about self tapes- what he knows and doesn't know about your experience with self-tapes. But mostly, we want you to listen to Jason's humanity. He's not some faceless power-broker executive. He's a human being.
