Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego, young men of nobility from the tribe of Judah, had been taken captive when Babylon conquered Israel. They had studied for 3 years in the king's school alongside Daniel; "to these 4 young men God gave knowledge and understanding of all kinds of literature and learning" ....to the king they were found superior to all others; "ten times better than all the magicians, and enchanters in his whole kingdom." (1:17, 20) They rose to high levels of government in Babylon, set as administrators over the province of Babylon. As captives in a pagan land, Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego's ability to trust in God and obedience to worship and serve Him only is remarkable to be sure. The hero of this story is God, who miraculously protected Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego from the king's wrath and punishment of death by fiery furnace. God had been with Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego, giving them wisdom and courage as they navigated life in Babylon's culture and false religion. It is challenging to trust God and worship Him only when we are surrounded by a culture who neither acknowledges God nor honors our commitment to Him. We may never face such brutal consequences for our loyalty to God, but like Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego's we need Jesus to help us cultivate wisdom in navigating our current culture and to grow our trust in and love for Him. Jesus is able to keep us from falling and to present us before His glorious presence without fault and with great joy! To Him be all glory! (Jude 24-25)
When you hear someone say, “That's old school!”, they are probably referring to something from an earlier era or something they think is “old-fashioned.” However, the phrase “old school” was originally used to suggest a high regard for something shown to have lasting value or quality. In this collection we will look at the lives of some timeless figures from the Old Testament. Though ancient, their stories hold profound relevance for our lives today, offering us insight through their guiding values.“These things happened to them as examples, and they were written for our instruction, on whom the ends of the ages have come. 12So, whoever thinks he stands must be careful not to fall.” 1 Corinthians 10:11-12Get ready to dig into the archives of time and learn some valuable lessons on how we are to live in these ever-changing times.

Life in exile can be incredibly difficult. It is costly and it can easily shake one's faith in God. Shadrach, Meshach and Abednego were somehow able to hold firmly to their convictions and dedicate themselves to the "God who is Able", even in the face of almost certain death. How did they do it?

How do our friendships influence our faith? How can we foster healthy, encouraging intergenerational relationships with one another? Tune in as Phil considers the relationship between three of the most popular Old Testament friends.
What would it look like for our lives to shift from a “what if” mentality to an “even if” commitment? The story of Shadrach, Meshach and Abednego captures this profound truth. God is capable of saving his people from anything in this world, but even if he doesn't, his people are not to worship idols even if the alternative is death.

Ever feel like you're standing alone in a fiery furnace of challenges, surrounded by a world that seems to contradict your faith? You're not alone. Join us as we delve into the gripping narrative of Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego, three men of tremendous faith who stood their ground against a king's decree, undeterred by the terrifying prospect of a blazing furnace. As we draw parallels between their experience and our own modern-day battles, we'll uncover powerful insights about standing firm in faith amidst adversity and trusting God's divine protection. Now, imagine walking through your toughest trials knowing that God is right there in the fire with you. Just as He was with Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego, He is present in our battles today, standing ready to declare our name to our Heavenly Father when we stand up for His Word. We'll discuss how our faith and trust in Him can lead us to victory, even when we're faced with great rebellion against God and His word. Emerging from our own 'fires', we can see God's plans for us more clearly and become agents of change in the lives of those around us. So let's set off on this journey of faith, resilience, and divine protection together.

In this 5 week series we want to look at some rich Old Testament stories about people that battled with fear, just like we do, and how God not only delivered them from their fear, but brought them into a stronger point in their faith. This week Pastor Jeff looks at the story of Shadrach, Meshach, Abednego and touches on a faith that is tested by fire and the benefit of believing in God despite our circumstances. Check it out.

The Enemy's Hanukkah. Hanukkah is a Hebrew word meaning dedication. Today we will first discuss "coming out" or UN-Assimilating and what we've all gone through to get where we are today and how we need to help each other stay strong and not RE-Assimilate. We also look at "Merry Christmas" and some response ideas that may better glorify our Savior and King than "Happy Hanukkah". Most people in the grocery checkout line are clueless as to what Hanukkah is other than a Jewish holiday and the Jewish religion rejects the only begotten Son, YHWH's Word having come in the Flesh. Do we really want to appear to reject the birth of our Savior when there isn't even time to explain to this person what Hanukkah is all about or that December 25 isn't Jesus birthday and that Jesus isn't our Savior's Name anyway? Can we really explain all that in 5 minutes or will we simply leave them believing we too (along with most of the world) have rejected our Savior? Then after a beautiful song by Marty Goetz will read a few scriptures on Hanukkah or dedication including a fresh look at Shadrach, Meshach & Abed-Nego.
Pastor Mark uses the story of Phillip and the Ethiopian from Acts Chapter 8 to illustrate how sometimes we need to listen to what God is asking us to do and do it, even if we don't understand why. Phillip was told to go somewhere and he obeys. In doing so, he met an Ethiopian man and was able to teach him about Jesus. We'll also hear a modern story of trust from our friend Kerry Pease.
