What you choose to believe and cherish, practice and submit to, work at and believe, happens when no one else is looking. These are the glorious days your children will remember—the joy of the meantime, the moments cherished, the memories of this Christmas, feasting together, choosing joy. Life teaches us to cherish every day.
In this powerful message from Pastor Karl, we journey beyond the manger to discover the timeless roots of Christmas in the Garden of Eden. Christmas is far more than a seasonal vibe—it's the profound story of God's unchanging love, revealed through proximity, provision, and loving parameters.Drawing parallels between Eden and Bethlehem, Pastor Karl shows how God has always pursued us: walking closely with humanity, generously providing what we cannot obtain ourselves, and setting protective boundaries for our good. Yet, from the beginning, humanity has often rejected this love, doubting God's goodness and choosing our own way.The heart of the gospel shines through as Pastor Karl reminds us that even in our rejection, God's love pursues and covers us—first promised in Genesis with the crushing of the serpent's head through the seed of the woman, and perfectly fulfilled in the incarnation of Jesus, Emmanuel, "God with us."This message challenges us: Will we embrace not just the warmth of Christmas, but the weighty claims of Christmas—God's call to love Him fully with our whole heart, soul, mind, and strength through belonging to His family, becoming like Christ, giving generously, and going on mission?A stirring reminder that God's everlasting love didn't begin in Bethlehem—it was set in motion from the very beginning, for you and me.Watch all our sermons on our youtube channel "Flipside Christian Church"Join us in person 8:00am 9:30am & 11:00am every Sunday morning.37193 Ave 12 #3h, Madera, CA 93636For more visit us at flipside.churchFor more podcasts visit flipsidepodcasts.transistor.fm

From Restless to Rooted: Joshua Williams on Calling, Repentance, and a Faith That Endures. What happens when the map you drew for your life no longer fits the road God is actually giving you? In this continuation of our conversation with Joshua Williams, we trace a candid journey through disappointment, redirection, and the quiet practices that turn belief into a way of life. This isn't highlight-reel faith; it's the daily, hidden work of following Jesus when the feelings fade and the next step isn't obvious. In this episode you'll hear about:Calling vs. career: how God reshapes ambition into service and steadies the heart when doors close.Repentance as renewal: not shame, but the rhythm that keeps love honest and hope alive.Prayer that holds in storms: learning to pray Scripture when words run out.Community and accountability: why “just me and Jesus” isn't enough when you're tired, tempted, or unsure.Sacrament and Scripture together: how worship and the Word form a faith that lasts beyond trends.Suffering without cynicism: carrying grief to Christ and finding courage to begin again. Why listen: If you're in a season of waiting, change, or quiet rebuilding, Joshua's story offers both clarity and comfort—practical ways to keep moving with Jesus when you're short on answers but rich in questions. If this conversation encouraged you, subscribe, share it with a friend who needs steadying grace, and leave a quick review with the one practice—prayer, repentance, or community—you're committing to this week.**********What if the road to Jesus runs through a guru? We sit down with Joshua to trace his unlikely path from a Romanian “enlightenment” school to Orthodox Christianity, and we ask the questions seekers rarely say aloud: Do mystical experiences prove truth, or do they force us to ask which spirit we're listening to?Joshua describes leaving the U.S. to “throw himself into the arms of the universe,” clinging to ideas like reincarnation and religious unity while resisting the moral claims of Christ. Inside a syncretic school that blended Hindu and Buddhist concepts, he encountered a compelling teacher, apparent clairvoyance, and a vision of reality where Brahman reigns as impersonal essence. That promise of unity felt expansive—until it demanded he treat personhood, love, and moral responsibility as illusions. We contrast that with the Orthodox claim that God is personal and tri-personal: the Trinity as eternal communion, love that exists before creation, and a God who is everywhere present yet distinct from creation. Rather than absorbing us into a faceless One, God calls us by name and invites real relationship.Across the conversation, we map the turning points: irritation at the name of Jesus giving way to self-awareness, recognition of authentic Christian witness, and a rethinking of “science versus faith” that leaves shallow slogans behind. We explore discernment of spirits, why power isn't proof, and how an impersonal metaphysics drifts toward quiet nihilism. Then we look at the Orthodox vision of personhood that grounds meaning: if we're made in God's image, our capacity for love is not a cosmic trick—it's the point. If you've chased enlightenment and still long for a face behind the light, this story will meet you where you are. Listen, share with a friend who's wrestling with pantheism or syncretism, and leave a review to help others find the show. 12-14-25 Waiting On God by LifeSource Church
What can we put our hope in? As we enter into our season of advent, we look to find the answer to this question. Today, Isaiah 9 will reveal that God gives promises to His people that bring hope, joy and love. We can continue to trust in these promises from God
Pastor Jim teaches from Luke 1 and reflects on Mary's song, the Magnificat, as a model for anchoring ourselves in God's faithfulness during seasons of waiting. Mary, a young and lowly servant with no status or power, responds to a life-altering calling not with fear but with praise. Jim explains that her rejoicing comes from a clear understanding of who she is and who God has always been, the Mighty One who lifts up the humble, fills the hungry, and keeps His promises. Through this passage, Jim challenges us to recognize our own lowliness, resist the urge to grasp for control, and magnify the Lord by grounding our lives in the gospel. In a world that encourages power and self-sufficiency, Mary's song invites us to rejoice, trusting that God is still at work in our waiting.

Advent E1 — Over the next four weeks, we'll be exploring the four key words associated with the Advent season: hope, peace, joy, and love, starting with hope. The Hebrew words often translated as “hope,” yakhal and qavah, are rooted in images of waiting and being stretched, like a cord pulled tight. From Noah waiting for the flood waters to recede, to Israel longing for God's loyal love, to Jesus followers ultimate hope in the new creation, the Bible presents hope as an active trust in God's character. In this episode, Jon and Tim explore how the biblical story reframes hope as active waiting, a practice that keeps us moving toward God's promises.FULL SHOW NOTESFor chapter-by-chapter notes including summaries, referenced Scriptures, biblical words, and reflection questions, check out the full show notes for this episode.CHAPTERSYakhal, a Waiting Hope (0:00–11:26)Qavah, a Stretching Hope (11:26–24:10)Biblical Hope vs. Optimism (24:10–27:47)Reflections on Hope With Dylan (27:47-32:50)OFFICIAL EPISODE TRANSCRIPTView this episode's official transcript.REFERENCED RESOURCESThe Hebrew and Aramaic Lexicon of the Old Testament by Ludwig Koehler and Walter BaumgartnerThe Life of Moses and Homilies on the Song of Songs by Gregory of NyssaThe Last Battle by C.S. #advent #catholic #sspxAdvent is a holy season of waiting. We learn how to wait for God.Waiting well is an important spiritual skill, because God often moves slowly. When we look at the history of the world and of the human race, we see that God is never in a hurry.God is outside of time. All of time is like a single moment for Him. He sees all of human history from the highest perspective. When we interact with God, we have to be willing for Him to act slowly. We have to be willing to wait. “Show, O Lord, thy ways to me. Teach me thy paths”, we say in today's Introit. His ways are slow.Abraham: God first appears to him when he is 75 years old, and promises that he will make a great nation of him. But his wife is not able to have any children. After 25 years, God appears to Abraham, when he is 100 years old, and promises that he will have a child by Sara, who is 90 years old. She has Isaac and the whole race of the Chosen People comes from him.Moses: the Israelites are being oppressed by the Pharaoh. He is telling the midwives to put their male children to death. Moses is saved from the water and raised by Pharaoh's daughter in the Egyptian court. When he is 40 years old, he flees to the desert. Only after 40 years more does God appear to Moses and ask him to go back to Egypt to deliver the Israelite people. They had been in slavery for 80 years at that point.Coming of Our Lord: God waits a number of centuries after Adam. When Our Lord comes onto this earth, He is not rushed. Rather, He spends 30 years living a hidden and unknown life. Only then does He come out into the public.Bottom line: God often waits a long time before acting. (same will be true of end of world!)We find this characteristic of our God difficult because we are naturally impatient as human beings. We are willful and we want control. We want things to happen when we want them to happen. We find it humbling to be forced to wait.
Following God requires you to be patient. It's so easy to want to be in the right place right now and to try to rush God's plans for your life. But Pastor Jeff teaches you today that there is value in the moment you are in. Life isn't just about the destination; it's also about the journey you take on your way to that destination. God can work in you in those moments of waiting, so that you can be better prepared to receive the blessing that is coming. But all of this requires you to be patient and to wait on the Lord.
In this stirring and deeply encouraging Advent message, Pastor Karl launches the new series The King Has Come with a powerful exploration of the first great gift Jesus brings: hope.Turning to Luke 2 and the quiet, largely forgotten figures of Simeon and Anna, Pastor Karl paints a vivid picture of two elderly saints who spent decades waiting in faithful obscurity—praying unanswered prayers, worshiping through silence, and serving without recognition. Yet the moment a 40-day-old baby was carried into the temple, their Spirit-illuminated eyes saw what the crowds missed: the long-promised Messiah, the Consolation of Israel, the Redemption of Jerusalem.Through their story, Pastor Karl reveals that biblical hope is not wishful thinking; it is the confident, unshakable expectation of future good rooted in the unchanging character and faithfulness of God. Hope grows in the hidden soil of daily faithfulness, thrives when God chooses to work in silence, and celebrates the tiny seed because it already trusts the coming harvest. Simeon and Anna never saw Jesus preach, heal, or rise from the dead—yet they held the infant King and departed in peace, because they knew who He was long before they saw what He would do.A tender yet convicting word for everyone who has waited a long time and is still waiting, prayed a long time and is still praying, and hoped a long time and is still hoping. In a season that can feel rushed and noisy, this message calls us to slow down, stay faithful, and train our eyes to recognize the presence of the King—even when He shows up wrapped in the ordinary, the small, and the seemingly insignificant.Because the King has come, hope is not dead. It is alive, resilient, and bubbling up in every heart that keeps showing up and keeps looking for Jesus. Essential listening for anyone who needs fresh hope this Christmas.Watch all our sermons on our youtube channel "Flipside Christian Church"Join us in person 9:00am & 10:30am every Sunday morning.37193 Ave 12 #3h, Madera, CA 93636For more visit us at flipside.churchFor more podcasts visit flipsidepodcasts.transistor.fm

Welcome to Week 2 of the God's Perfect Timing devotional. Advent begins long before Bethlehem. In this first week of Advent, we slow down and look at the earliest promises God spoke over a weary world. Before shepherds heard the angels sing, before Mary received her news, God was already preparing a story of redemption. If your heart feels stretched thin or you're carrying long-standing prayers, these passages offer steady hope. We'll take a gentle walk through Genesis, Isaiah, and Luke to see how God speaks into fear, meets His people in their longing, and invites us to trust His timing.

In this episode, Samuel Goulet emphasizes the importance of anchoring prayer in biblical understanding and practice, using the imagery of the upper room to illustrate the significance of waiting upon the Lord and praying according to God's will rather than personal desires. He highlights how the transformative power of waiting and prayer refines and prepares individuals for the fulfillment of God's promises, drawing parallels between the disciples' experience and the process of spiritual growth. Samuel encourages listeners to pursue a prayer life that seeks God's will, fostering personal transformation and a deeper connection with the divine. [ivoox.com]
In this week's message from our Ascent: Walking up the Pilgrims' Pathway series, Pastor Nate takes us deep into the heart of two of the most intimate Songs of Ascent, Psalm 130 and Psalm 131 , to show us how we ascend in our pilgrimage through waiting for God's mercy with quiet trust.Psalm 130 begins “Out of the depths I cry to You, O Lord,” painting a picture of the pit of sin—a place of helplessness where no one can save themselves. But there, in the darkness, we find the beauty of God's character: forgiveness, steadfast love (hesed), and plentiful redemption. Through the cross of Christ, these are not abstract ideas, they're living realities. Like Hosea's faithful love for Gomer, God's hesed runs deeper than our failures and stronger than our rebellion. We are called to pray and wait. Waiting isn't passive, it's an act of hope and longing that just as the watchman waits for dawn, the light of God's mercy will rise. We hope on His Word—trusting His promises—and we hope for His Word—expecting His Spirit to speak and lead. Psalm 131 moves from crying out to calming down, from desperation to quiet trust. David models humility before God, resisting Satan's attacks on the heart, eyes, and mind. Instead of arrogance, pride, and restless speculation, he quiets his soul “like a weaned child with its mother.” Pastor Nate contrasts childish faith, which demands and fears, with childlike faith, which rests and trusts. As pilgrims, we can be sure of this: The Lord Himself will redeem us from all our iniquities. So, we keep praying, keep waiting, and keep trusting, until we see His mercy rise like the morning light.

Stephanie interviews Elise Tegegne, author of In Praise of House Flies. They discuss finding God's presence, grace, and growth in the ordinary and sometimes challenging moments of daily life. Spiritual growth is cultivated not by spectacular moments, but by surrender, humility, dependence, and wonder woven into the fabric of everyday life. As Elise's experience, book, and wisdom reveal, God meets us in the little things—if we will simply open our eyes and hearts to Him. Elise's story begins with her call to serve as a missionary teacher in Ethiopia—an experience that brought her, for the first time, into the depths of her own inadequacy. Far from home and outside her comfort zone, she quickly realized she could not succeed on her own. Failure and discomfort became a means by which she experienced true intimacy with God. When everything felt overwhelming, the only option was to get “on her knees,” literally and figuratively, praying for help. Elise discusses how being confronted with her own limits brought a new kind of freedom. Growing up as a high-performing student, she hadn't needed to rely on anyone but herself. But in Ethiopia, humility was forced upon her—and it led to spiritual liberation. Humility is the posture that opens us to God's grace. It's not natural or easy—especially for those of us wired for achievement or “Martha” types—but it's essential. Elise points out that praying for humility is scary, but necessary, and God has ways to gently answer that prayer. True humility is not self-deprecation but a realistic acknowledgment of need—opening the way for grace. God “gives grace to the humble” (1 Peter 5:5). Cultivating humility by embracing moments that challenge our sense of control, happens by asking Him for a gentle, transforming touch. Motherhood and daily life made Elise redefine prayer. No longer only reserved for a quiet hour, prayer became integrated into every moment: while nursing her baby, washing dishes, or shopping with her in-laws, who taught her to pray over even the smallest activities. Prayer can permeate our entire day. Turn every activity—however small—into a moment of connection and dependence on God. “In everything, by prayer and supplication, make your requests known to God.” The title of Elise's book, In Praise of House Flies, inspires us to look for God's presence even in the annoyances and the mundane: the “house fly” moments we'd rather swat away. Life is lived not just in the big events, but in myriad little acts of faithfulness, wonder, and surrender. Adopting a childlike wonder, Elise encourages us to practice gratitude, see the holy in the everyday, and recognize God's gifts everywhere. Resist waiting for the “next big thing.” Instead, let's train our attention on the daily opportunities God gives for transformation, gratitude, and worship. Like children, we marvel at the beauty and sacredness embedded in the ordinary. MORE ABOUT ELISE TEGEGNE AND HER BOOK, “IN PRAISE OF HOUSEFLIES” Through the lens of personal experience, Elise Tegegne reflects on the redemptive glimmers in ordinary challenges ranging from canceled flights to insomnia. In Praise of Houseflies gives readers an opportunity to listen for what their own everyday quandaries can teach and to delight in the abundant graces blossoming within them. It is an essential message of hope, joy, and redemption imparted through deep, nourishing reflection. Elise says of herself, “Living alone and young as a high school French teacher in Ethiopia, I found a world that beautifully upended mine. I found God with skin and bones. And I found the one my soul loves. After giving birth to my son, I left my teaching career to pursue the delights of motherhood and writing. Since then I've been listening for God's voice in the rhythms of everyday life, keeping my eyes open for abundant graces—and seeking to capture what I find in words. My first book In Praise of Houseflies: Meditations on the Gifts in Everyday Quandaries (Calla Press) is now available wherever books are sold. I received a BA in Creative Writing and French from Indiana University and hold an MFA from Seattle Pacific University. “ More at https://www.elisetegegne.com/ Support us on Gospel Spice, PayPal and Venmo!

Pastor Kevin Warner1 Samuel 18-27
Learning to rest in His timing, receive His Word, and walk in the healing power of truth. We opened with prayer and reflection, thanking God for His faithfulness and the power of the previous message. We took time to express gratitude for His healing and spiritual renewal, acknowledging the freedom and restoration His Word brings. As we reflected on trusting God, we recognized how difficult it can be to recall past messages in the moment—but also how the Holy Spirit faithfully brings truth to remembrance at the perfect time. Our discussion focused on waiting on God's perfect timing, using the example of Abraham and Sarah as a reminder that impatience often leads to unnecessary trouble. We emphasized that the Holy Spirit stores up truth within us and reveals it when our hearts are ready to receive it. God's provision is always perfect, and His timing is never late. We were encouraged to live out four simple but powerful words of counsel: be gentle, loving, kind, and patient. We then explored Christ as the pattern for sanctification, learning that God's conviction does not condemn but separates us from what harms us. The Spirit's work in our lives is surgical—using the “sword of the Spirit” to divide self-conscious thinking from God-conscious living. We were reminded that spiritual growth is not about striving but about surrendering to the process of transformation through Christ's example. The meeting concluded with reflections on the healing and transforming power of God's Word, referencing Hebrews 4 and Ephesians 5. We acknowledged how Scripture cuts through lies and restores the heart, and how approaching it prayerfully allows the Holy Spirit to work deeply within us. Just as 1 Thessalonians 2:13 says, the Word works effectively in those who believe. We prayed for continued healing, protection, and the joy that comes from abiding in His glory.Themes: Trusting God's timing and wisdom Sanctification through Christ's example The Spirit's role in transforming our minds Healing and power in the Word of God Joy and rest through surrenderScripture References: Hebrews 4; Ephesians 5; 1 Thessalonians 2:13Reflection Question: What area of my life is God calling me to wait on Him—and how can I prepare my heart to receive His Word with gentleness, patience, and trust?
Sometimes it feels like we're waiting on God... but what if He's actually waiting on us? Maybe it's time to stop asking for direction and start walking in the one He's already given.
Send us a textWe all hit seasons where life feels like it is drying up emotionally, spiritually, or practically. Sometimes long before we understand why. In this opening message of our "Empty Jars" series, we step into Elijah's story before the mountaintop victory, before the miracle, before the fire... to the quiet and hidden place where God teaches him to trust. This is a message for anyone walking through uncertainty, waiting for answers, or carrying a weight they cannot fully explain. Elijah did not pray for the ravens; he simply discovered a provision God had already set in motion. The same God who worked ahead for him is already working ahead for you.If you have ever wondered where God is in the dry seasons... if you have ever felt empty long before you felt hopeful... this episode will remind you that heaven has already moved on your behalf, even if you cannot see it yet.Because when life feels empty... the ravens are already flying.Other messages in this series:Before the JarThe Jar that Never Runs Out (October 26, 2025)Beyond the Jar (November 2, 2025)*(When sermon is being preached live at Ravenna Church of the Nazarene)Linkoln shares his story on why he started coming to Ravenna Church of the Nazarene and shares why you should consider doing the same.Ravenna Church of the Nazarene530 Main Street, Ravenna, KY 40472Support the showThe Dirt Path Sermon Podcast is a place for real sermons that speak to real life. Have you ever felt like God is running late? Like you're praying, believing, doing all the right things… but nothing seems to be moving? In today's message, “Waiting on God's Timing, Patience in the Process,” we're going to look at what Scripture says about the seasons of waiting, those in-between moments when faith is tested, trust is stretched, and patience is grown. From Ecclesiastes 3, we're reminded that there is a time for everything and that God makes all things beautiful in His time. Waiting isn't a punishment; it's preparation. God is working in ways you can't see to bring about something far greater than you can imagine. So if you've ever wondered where God is in the silence, or why His clock doesn't match yours, this message is for you. Let's lean in and discover how waiting on God can actually grow what rushing never will.
Obs. 1. The first proper fruit of faith's discovery of forgiveness in God, unto a sin-distressed soul, is waiting in patience and expectation. Obs. 2. The proper object of a sin-distressed soul's waiting and expecting is God himself, as reconciled in Christ: "I have waited for Jehovah." Obs. 3. The word of promise is the soul's great supportment in waiting for God: "In thy word do I hope." Obs. 4. Sin-distressed souls wait for God with earnest intension of mind, diligence, and expectation,
In this final message of The Me I Want to Be series, Pastor Mark Reynolds explores how God uses everyday pressures—our work, our waiting, and our will—to form the person we're becoming.Drawing on the story of Caleb, who declared at 85 years old, “Give me this mountain,” this sermon invites us to see how God renews our strength through both challenge and faith. Whether you're weary from the climb, stuck in a season of waiting, or searching for meaning in your work, you'll find hope and direction in this message.Discover how God transforms ordinary experience into sacred opportunity—and how His Spirit gives courage to keep climbing.Listen in to be reminded: You're never too young, too old, or too tired for God to do something new in you.

In this second message from God's Power for Daily Living, Dr. Michael Youssef calls believers to embrace the Biblical purpose of waiting. Preaching from Acts 1:12–26, he warns against the modern obsession with instant gratification and reminds us that God's silence is never empty—it is training ground for obedience, fellowship, prayer, and spiritual readiness. The apostles didn't waste their waiting; they obeyed Christ, prayed in unity, and prepared for the coming power of the Holy Spirit. Dr. Youssef also exposes the danger of apostasy through the example of Judas, urging listeners to examine their hearts and submit fully to Christ. True revival, he says, begins with faithful preparation—starting on our knees.

In this deeply personal episode, I share a journal entry I wrote just weeks before dropping my boys off at college, closing my business, grieving friendship shifts, and walking through the final days of my mother-in-law's Alzheimer's journey. This isn't a strategy session. It's an honest reflection on what it feels like to let go of everything familiar—and face the silence that follows. I call it The Void—and if you've ever been there too, I hope this episode helps you feel seen, supported, and a little less alone.Whether you're grieving a role, a relationship, or just sitting in a season of waiting, this conversation is for you.Key Takeaways:You're not the only one feeling lost after the kids leave or the business endsLetting go isn't failure—it's often the first step of obedienceSometimes the hardest part isn't what we lose—it's the quiet space left behindYou can't out-strategize surrender or hustle through heartbreakGod is still working—even when life feels foggy, slow, or silentThe daily things (walks, dishes, dinner) are sacredIt's okay to just be here, to breathe, and to trust His timing Resources:Instagram- https://www.instagram.com/shellyniehaus/Simple Shifts Newsletter: https://resources.shellyniehaus.com/midlifeWomen Entrepreneurs In Prayer Call - https://resources.shellyniehaus.com/prayercall
Text us here! Hershall, we ended with a tough conversation about waiting on God. It was a needful talk... Before we got there, we heard some good OLD songs and relived the past in a song. We had some feedback about whether or not we should pray over our pets and Deacon Dustin quoted another song wrong and Brooks pounced on that mistake faster than Trump with a Tariff (that was for all the people who faithfully read these descriptions and got jolted by my overtly political reference)(Just making sure you're still awake and still reading these valuable episode descriptions cause I have written a many of them now...) We also heard an elk hunting story and Brooks got some valuable marriage advice... Enjoy!
