This week we sat down with Skyler Jett, a vocalist, songwriter, producer and humanitarian activist. Raised by a single mother across the bay in Oakland, Skyler found a love for music from singing with his family at their church. Fostering his talents and passions from a young age, Skyler has now grown to not only be Grammy-recognized, but also perform and record with an impressive range of artists like Stevie Wonder, Sting, Aretha Franklin, Mariah Carey, and Eddie Murphy. He even sang with Celine Dion on the Grammy-winning song “My Heart Will Go On” from the film Titanic. In 1982, Jett replaced Lionel Richie in The Commodores, which toured over 30 countries. Jett hit his stride with the founding of Music for Global Change. Through this foundation, he collaborates with socially-conscious music artists to break down barriers of racism and raise awareness around racial stereotypes. Jett also mentors youth about the benefits of positive language in song lyrics to promote societal growth. Skyler is a kind and generous man who learned from his mother to always help others no matter what. Jett has synthesized the power of music and his love for others in the most extraordinary and effective ways, and his skills and talents have helped him reach communities worldwide. We are so excited to share some of his story with you, and we hope you enjoy this interview as much as we did. Meet Skyler Jett!

Born in Northern California, Kai began her music career recording demos for producers such as Preston Glass, Skyler Jett, and others. After years of singing background and growing as a writer, Kai relocated to New York in 1997. Becoming one of the only female staff writers and singers for Character Music at the time, she saw a need for women engineers. Kai studied engineering under Troy Taylor and began recording projects in-house working with well-known artists in the industry. After a few years with Character Music, Kai decided to form her own production company writing for independent artists and recording her first EP in 1999. Later that same year, Kai toured singing Gospel Music in Germany and accepted the call to preach, starting bible college the following year. She graduated with honors and relocated back to her hometown working as an Associate Pastor. But music was still in her heart. In 2011, Kai recorded her first album (a live worship CD), entitled “Speechless” with Levi “Too” King. Kai officially joined the MeTooMusic family as an artist in 2012. At the same time, Kai and her husband Pastor Alex Pineda started a home fellowship in Inglewood, California. Kingdom House of Worship was birthed and has expanded into 4 states and 1 country, with more expansion taking place in 2020. In 2016, Kai released her sophomore project entitled “Unshakeable.” The album was recorded in 9 days and is the album Kai desired to make. The first single “To You Who Are Faithful” debuted at number 1 on the CMC charts and remained there for 3 weeks. With all her accomplishments, there was still one item on her bucket list missing. This year, Kai became an author. Her first book released on October 4th, 2019. Dear Church Vol 1: The Beauty of The Body, is a call to end the divisions within the Christian community. Discussing racial tension, personal preference, and other issues, Kai penned a love letter she hopes stirs others to respond with a desire to unify.
