Growing up in a Pentecostal church, I have witnessed people speaking in tongues many times. But what is praying in tongues, and is it for Christians today? If you've ever wondered what the Bible actually teaches about this spiritual gift, whether the ability to speak in tongues is proof of salvation, or why some churches emphasize it and others don't, this episode is for you.In this episode, we start with Acts 2 and the day of Pentecost, where the Holy Spirit empowered believers to speak in real languages they had never learned. We'll explore why this moment was so significant—it wasn't just random; it was the fulfillment of Jeremiah 31:33, when God's law was written on the hearts of His people. Then we move to 1 Corinthians 12–14, where Paul explains that tongues is just one of the spiritual gifts and that it should be used in an orderly and edifying way. It is not something every believer receives and is not a requirement for salvation.I also share perspectives from both continuationist and cessationist traditions so you can understand the broader conversation within the church. Whether you're Pentecostal, Baptist, Reformed, or somewhere in between, my hope is that this episode equips you to study Scripture for yourself and approach this topic with humility and discernment.Shop Prayer Resources⦿ Every Woman a Theologian Shop: https://phyliciamasonheimer.com/shopOur Spring Shop is live and filled with new prayer-focused resources including the Praying the Psalms Scripture Guide and Not-So-Quiet Time: Psalms Volume 1.Watch the full Verity Podcast Prayer Series:https://www.youtube.com/@veritypodcastSubscribe to Verity Podcast:https://apple.co/veritypodcastVerity Podcast is an Every Woman a Theologian company. This week on the podcast, we're talking about something that so many women quietly experience but that very few of us actually talk about...Sex... Perimenopause...Libido... Desire...Orgasms... How our attraction changes as our hormonal levels shift. It's a big topic and one to listen to in a safe space away from small ears!So many women notice changes in their libido, attraction, intimacy or sexual confidence during perimenopause and menopause. For late-diagnosed neurodivergent women, these understanding shifts can feel even more confusing as hormones, attention, the nervous system and relationships all intersect. In this episode of the ADHD Women's Wellbeing Podcast, Kate is joined by Dr Angela Wright, a trauma-trained clinical sexologist, sex medicine practitioner and menopause clinician with a specialist interest in the overlaps between trauma, ADHD, PMDD and menopause.Together we explore the often unspoken intersection between hormones, menopause, libido and sexual wellbeing, particularly for neurodivergent women. Many women notice shifts in their bodies, desire, or relationships during perimenopause and menopause, yet these changes are rarely explained in a way that helps them understand what's really happening. This conversation opens up space to talk honestly about the changes women may experience during this stage of life, and how understanding the relationship between hormones, the nervous system and ADHD can help make sense of shifts in intimacy, attraction and connection. In this episode, we explore:How hormonal changes during perimenopause can impact libido and sexual desireWhy techniques or dynamics that once worked sexually may change as hormones shiftThe connection between ADHD, novelty and desire in long-term relationshipsHow hormones, the nervous system and attention interact to shape sexual experienceWhy some people experience a loss of interest in sex during midlifeHow orgasms can support relaxation, tension release and hormone regulationThe importance of communication in relationships, including using “I” statements to express needsHow treatments such as vaginal oestrogen and hormonal support can help during perimenopauseThe impact of progesterone and testosteroneThis episode offers reassurance, insight, and practical language for women navigating changes in their bodies and relationships, helping to reduce the confusion and isolation that can accompany these experiences.Join the More Yourself Community - the doors are now open!More Yourself is a compassionate space for late-diagnosed ADHD women to connect, reflect, learn and come home to who they really are. Have you ever looked at your life and wondered how the painful pieces could possibly fit together into something meaningful? Maybe you’ve walked through loss, disappointment, unanswered prayers, or seasons that felt confusing and heavy. In those moments, it can be difficult to see how anything good could come from the hardship. But what if God is doing something deeper in the middle of it all? This week on The Love Offering Podcast, I’m joined by author and speaker Kirby Kelly to talk about her beautiful and honest new book, The Fabric of Hope. Kirby shares how God has been faithfully stitching together the threads of her own story—through unexpected love, deep grief after the sudden loss of her mom, seasons of doubt, family struggles, and betrayal. And through it all, she’s discovered something powerful: God wastes nothing. Even the painful pieces of our lives can become part of a larger tapestry of redemption. In our conversation, we talked about how God can bring sweetness from bitter seasons, purpose from pain, and hope right in the middle of life’s interruptions. Sometimes the very places we wish we could erase are the places where God reveals His presence most clearly. Kirby reminds us that when we pause and look back over our lives, we often see a surprising pattern: some of our deepest moments with God happen in seasons we never would have chosen. In this episode, you’ll discover: How God weaves meaning into the painful seasons of our lives• Why hardship and hope often exist side by side• How to reflect on your own story and see God’s faithfulness more clearly• Why God’s interruptions may actually be divine invitations Friend, if you are in a season that feels confusing, heavy, or unfinished, I pray this conversation reminds you that God is still working. He is the thread that holds every piece together. And one day, you may look back and see that what once felt like a torn place in your story became one of the most beautiful parts of the fabric.

In this conversation, we explore common perimenopause symptoms—including anxiety, insomnia, mood changes, brain fog, and shifts in energy and why these hormonal changes in women are often mistaken for depression or anxiety disorders. Dr. Hirsch explains what happens to estrogen, progesterone, and testosterone during perimenopause, when this transition typically begins, and how menopausal hormone therapy may help some women feel like themselves again. Are written prayers biblical or just empty tradition? If you've ever felt like praying someone else's words isn't "sincere" or questioned whether liturgical prayers belong in the Christian life, this episode will challenge your assumptions and open up a rich tradition of faith. Did Jesus forbid scripted prayers in Matthew 6:6–7? Many Christians assume prayer must always be spontaneous. But throughout both Jewish and early Christian worship, written prayers were a normal part of community life.In this episode, we look at the history of liturgical prayer and why Acts 2:42 says the early believers devoted themselves to “the prayers.” We'll also talk about how written prayers can strengthen—not replace—your personal conversations with God. We will also explore the beauty and biblical foundation of liturgical prayers, from the Psalms (which are themselves written prayers) to the Book of Common Prayer and prayers written by early church fathers like Polycarp. Many American evangelicals dismiss written prayers as "ritualistic" or empty tradition, but Scripture shows us that God gave us the Psalms to pray, Jesus gave us the Lord's Prayer to pray, and faithful Christians throughout history have used written prayers to train themselves in adoration, confession, and thanksgiving—not just requests. Why do some women suddenly feel more anxious, more emotional, more exhausted, or just not like themselves during certain seasons of life? In this episode, we sit down with Dr. Greg Mongeon to talk about the very real connection between hormones, anxiety, stress, and perimenopause. This conversation is packed with insight for women who have been told their labs are “normal” while still feeling anything but normal. Dr. Greg shares his personal story, what led him into functional medicine, and why so many women are struggling with symptoms that are often overlooked, dismissed, or mislabeled. We talk about the role of the nervous system, the gut-brain connection, stress, liver health, hormone shifts, and why symptoms should never be ignored just because a lab value falls in the “normal” range. In this episode, we discuss: Why anxiety can intensify during perimenopause The difference between “normal” and optimal lab work How stress and nervous system dysregulation can affect hormones Why the gut, liver, and thyroid matter so much in hormone health The problem with one-size-fits-all wellness advice online Why so many women feel dismissed in traditional healthcare settings The truth about bioidentical hormones vs synthetic hormone therapy How to advocate for yourself when you know something feels off This episode is for the woman who feels like her body has changed, her mind feels more reactive, her cycle feels different, and she's tired of being told everything is fine when it clearly doesn't feel fine. More than anything, this conversation is about hope.Hope that your symptoms are not “all in your head.”Hope that there may be deeper answers. And hope that you are not broken. So Much More: Creating Space for God (Lectio Divina and Scripture Meditation)
This midweek prayer is an invitation to pause and return to Jesus’s words in John 10, where He says, “I am the good shepherd.” In this short prayer, we take time to remember who Jesus is for us—a Shepherd who knows His sheep, stays with them, and lays down His life for their sake. We reflect on the ways He has already cared for us and ask Him to help us know Him more, so we can follow Him more closely. This prayer also acknowledges that there are real challenges and threats we face. Jesus names the danger, but He also reminds us that He does not abandon His sheep. He stays. He protects. He leads. As we pray, we entrust ourselves again to the Shepherd who never walks away and ask Him to guide us through this day and this Lenten season. Take a few quiet minutes to refocus your heart on Jesus as the Good Shepherd and pray along with me. Today’s Scripture John 10:11–15 (NIV) 11 “I am the good shepherd. The good shepherd lays down his life for the sheep.12 The hired hand is not the shepherd and does not own the sheep. So when he sees the wolf coming, he abandons the sheep and runs away. Then the wolf attacks the flock and scatters it.13 The man runs away because he is a hired hand and cares nothing for the sheep.14 “I am the good shepherd; I know my sheep and my sheep know me—15 just as the Father knows me and I know the Father—and I lay down my life for the sheep.” Download your FREE Lent Companion Journal Here I AM: A Lenten Journey with Jesus This journal includes:• Each week’s Scripture passage• Reflection prompts from the meditations• Space to journal, pray, and notice what God is revealing Here are some additional helpful links: Learn more about Jodie:http://www.jodieniznik.com Follow on Instagram:@jodieniznik Follow on Facebook:@JodieGNiznik Join the Monday email newsletter for new meditations, HERE Explore other faith-centered podcasts from LifeAudio:https://www.lifeaudio.com If you are helped by these meditations, consider sharing them with a friend or leaving a review as a way to support this ministry. In this episode of The Pelvic Floor Connection, pelvic floor and core coach Sarahjane West-Watson explores why running can trigger urinary leakage and why the solution is often very different from what many women have been told. Many women assume leaking during exercise simply means their pelvic floor is weak and that doing more Kegel exercises will fix the problem. In reality, pelvic floor dysfunction during running is often linked to pressure management, muscle coordination and core function, rather than strength alone. Running creates repeated pressure through the abdomen and pelvis. With every stride, your pelvic floor must respond quickly to support the bladder and manage internal pressure. If this system is not coordinating effectively, symptoms like bladder leaks, heaviness or reduced control can appear. Sarahjane explains how over-gripping the core, activating the wrong muscles, or misunderstanding how the pelvic floor works can increase pressure on the bladder and make symptoms worse — even for women who are actively exercising. You'll also learn how hormonal changes across the menstrual cycle and during midlife can influence bladder control, and why factors such as caffeine, hydration habits and pelvic pressure can sometimes aggravate symptoms during running. If you have ever wondered: • Why do I leak when I run? • Is leaking when running normal? • Why does my pelvic floor feel heavy during exercise? • Why aren't Kegels fixing my bladder leaks? • Can I run again without worrying about leaking? This episode will help you better understand what your body may be asking for — and what you can do to support it. Key Topics Covered in This Episode • Why many women leak when they run and why it is so common • The difference between stress incontinence and urge incontinence • How running creates repeated pressure through the abdomen and pelvis • Why pelvic floor coordination, not just strength, is essential for continence • How over-gripping the core and abdominal muscles can increase bladder pressure • Why many women activate the wrong muscles when trying to do pelvic floor exercises • The role of the pelvic floor sling and deep core system in supporting the bladder • Why postnatal women often notice bladder leaks when running • How hormonal changes and the menstrual cycle influence pelvic floor function • The impact of caffeine, hydration and bladder irritants on bladder control during exercise • Why simply doing Kegel exercises may not solve leaking when running Restore Your Core & Pelvic Floor If you would like expert support to reconnect and strengthen with your pelvic floor and deep core, Sarahjane's guided programme Transform Your Core & Pelvic Floor helps women understand how to activate the right muscles and build real support for movement, exercise and everyday life. What if the place you most want to avoid is the very place where Jesus wants to meet you? In this week’s episode of The Love Offering Podcast, I had the meaningful opportunity to talk with author and speaker Willow Weston about her powerful new book, Collide. Life rarely unfolds the way we imagine it will. Heartbreak, loss, trauma, disappointment, and shame can leave us feeling scattered and unsure of how to move forward. Many of us try to outrun the pain or bury it beneath busy lives and brave faces. But as Willow gently reminds us, unresolved hurt has a way of resurfacing—often through anxiety, broken relationships, or a deep sense of restlessness. But what if our pain isn’t the end of the story? In Collide, Willow invites us to consider a different possibility: that Jesus meets us right in the middle of our mess. Not to shame us or condemn us, but to walk with us, heal what is broken, and begin restoring our hearts. Through her own honest and vulnerable story, Willow offers compassionate guidance for those who long for healing but aren’t sure where to begin. Together we talk about: Why our past wounds often shape our present struggles How avoiding pain can keep us stuck in unhealthy patterns What Scripture reveals about weakness, suffering, and God’s nearness How inviting Jesus into our hurt opens the door for real healing And how our healing can ripple outward to bless others One of the most encouraging reminders from our conversation is this: we don’t have to arrive healed before coming to Jesus. We can come exactly as we are—limping, weary, unsure—and trust that He meets us there. Friend, if you’re carrying something heavy today, I hope this conversation reminds you that God sees you, He cares deeply about what you’ve walked through, and He is near to the brokenhearted. You don’t have to run from your pain. You can bring it to Him. My prayer is that this episode encourages you to take one small step toward healing and to trust that even the places that feel most broken can become places where God’s grace meets you most powerfully. Hormonal birth control is one of the most commonly used medications in the world — but there's a side of the story that rarely makes it into the doctor's office. In this episode, we take a deeper look at what's happening beneath the surface when synthetic hormones enter the body, and why so many women on birth control experience symptoms they can't quite explain. Fatigue that doesn't respond to rest. Mood shifts that seem to come out of nowhere. Skin that suddenly changes. Sleep that feels just a little less restorative than it used to. These experiences are more common than you might think — and they're not random. In bioregulatory medicine, we look at the body as a dynamic, interconnected network, and when something shifts in one area, the ripple effects can show up in places you'd never expect. This episode is not about fear, and it's not about telling you what to do with your own body. It's about widening the lens — giving you a more complete picture of what your body may be navigating, and what you can do to support it. Because informed women make empowered decisions. If you've ever felt like something was just... off, this episode might give you the answer you've been looking for.
This is a free preview of a paid episode. To hear more, visit stayorgo.substack.comEpisode 98: This week, I want to talk about something that sits underneath almost every conversation I have with women who are considering divorce. It's the question beneath the question. Not just should I stay or go, but something deeper. Can I trust myself? So many women come into this space looking for certainty. They want to know they're not overreacting. They want reassurance they're not making a mistake. They want someone to tell them what the right decision is.But underneath all of that is the deeper ache of feeling disconnected from their own knowing. In this episode, I talk about why self-trust can feel so hard, especially when many of us were taught from a young age to look outside ourselves for answers. When you're in the middle of a life transition like this, it can feel like being out in the middle of the ocean during a storm. There's no clear map. No solid ground. Just the question of whether you can trust the voice inside you.I share the three things I've seen make the biggest difference in helping women rebuild that trust. Community that reflects you back to yourself. A deeper relationship with your intuition and the unseen. And the kind of knowledge that doesn't just give you information, but helps you finally understand what you're experiencing. This episode isn't about giving you the answer to whether you should stay or go. It's about something much more powerful than that. It's about helping you remember that the voice inside you is worth listening to. And that self-trust is something you can rebuild, one step at a time.
So Much More: Creating Space for God (Lectio Divina and Scripture Meditation)
In this fourth meditation of our Lenten series, I AM: A Lenten Journey with Jesus, we slow down with Jesus’s words in John 10:11–15:“I am the good shepherd.” These words come right after last week’s meditation. Jesus is still addressing people who were confused about who they could trust—people who had felt overlooked, misled, or poorly cared for by spiritual leaders. Into that confusion, Jesus deepens the image He has already given. Jesus contrasts Himself with the “hired hand,” someone who may appear present but runs when danger comes. A hired hand does not stay when things become costly. But Jesus makes clear that He is different. He does not abandon the sheep. He knows them by name. And He willingly gives His life for their good. This guided Scripture meditation invites you to reflect on where you may be placing your trust—whether in people, systems, or structures that cannot ultimately hold you. Through several slow readings of John 10:11–15, you will be guided to listen, reflect, respond, and rest—allowing the truth of Jesus’s steady, sacrificial care to settle into your heart. Care More Be Better: Social Impact, Sustainability + Regeneration Now
As human beings, we are built for relationship. Yet many of the leadership models we inherit are hierarchical, extractive, and rooted in struggle. In this conversation, Nina and I explore: What relational leadership really means Why empathy, vulnerability, and collaboration are strengths — not weaknesses How climate justice, racial equity, gender equity, and economic reform are deeply interconnected Why “solving for pattern” (in the spirit of Wendell Berry) leads to cascading regenerative benefits The importance of integrating restorative, regenerative rhythms into our leadership and lives Nina also reflects on redefining sacrifice, embracing conflict as a doorway to deeper relationship, and leading from wholeness rather than burnout. Why This Matters Now We are living through overlapping crises — climate instability, political gridlock, reproductive rights rollbacks, and widening inequity. Nina reminds us that these are not separate issues, but interconnected systems. We will not achieve climate justice without racial and gender equity. We will not build regenerative economies without collaborative leadership. And we cannot solve systemic problems while remaining disconnected from one another — or from the Earth. Relational leadership invites us to lead not from dominance, but from interdependence. While Kyle is off in Tokyo chasing World Major dreams, guest host Lisa Watkins (The Behind the Bib Podcast out of Huntsville, Alabama) grabs the mic for a full review of the Every Woman's Marathon, a traveling marathon built to make runners feel seen, supported, and wildly welcomed, especially first-timers. Lisa breaks down what makes the event unique, from year-long communication and pop-up runs to an expo that's basically a runner-care theme park (Rabbit gear everywhere, free coffee, yoga, braiding, and “they thought of everything” amenities). Then she gets real about race day in Scottsdale: bus gridlock drama, a “net downhill” course that turned wet, concrete-heavy, and surprisingly hilly, a brutal late climb, rising temps into the 80s, and cramps that made miles 20+ a survival story. She also dishes on the finish-line layout (a little chaotic), the difference in crowd energy compared to Savannah, and why the afterparty absolutely shines with recovery stations, PT help, food, and a legit concert. Lisa wraps with what the race stands for, a generous 7:45 cutoff, the next destination ******** in February 2027, and a handful of race recs that deserve a spot on our calendars.
Why does prayer feel boring sometimes? If you've ever struggled to stay focused during prayer, felt distracted, or wondered why some Christians seem so enriched by prayer while you feel disconnected, this episode will bring clarity and hope. Phylicia explores four key reasons why prayer can feel boring—and what to do about it: spiritual warfare (the enemy doesn't want you praying), overstimulation (we're unused to silence and stillness), request-based vs. relationship-based prayer, and duty-based habits that lack intimacy. Scripture shows us that showing up consistently creates the intimacy we're looking for—discipline leads to joy, and action precedes feeling.Shop Prayer ResourcesEvery Woman a Theologian Shop:https://phyliciamasonheimer.comSpring Shop launches March 12 with new prayer-focused resources and more.Watch the full Verity Podcast Prayer Series:https://www.youtube.com/@veritypodcastSubscribe to Verity Podcast:https://apple.co/veritypodcastVerity Podcast is an Every Woman a Theologian company. We believe every woman should be a theologian—every woman a student of the heart of God.Order Every Woman a Theologian:https://phyliciamasonheimer.com/product/every-woman-a-theologian-hardcover/New Release: Who Is Like Our God? So Much More: Creating Space for God (Lectio Divina and Scripture Meditation)
This midweek prayer is an invitation to pause and return to Jesus’s words in John 10, where He says, “I am the gate.” In this short prayer, we create space to trust Jesus as the One who stands guard over our lives—protecting us and leading us toward the life He promises. Jesus tells us that while there are voices and forces that seek to steal, kill, and destroy, He is the Gate who keeps watch over His sheep. He is present with us, surrounding us with His care, and inviting us to live from a place of trust rather than fear. This prayer also turns our attention to Jesus’s promise of life—life that is full, abundant, and rooted in His presence. As we pray, we surrender what feels threatening or overwhelming and ask Him to renew our hope in the life He offers. Take a few quiet minutes to refocus your heart on Jesus as the Gate and pray along as we continue this Lenten journey together. Today’s Scripture John 10:7–10 (NIV) 7 Therefore Jesus said again, “Very truly I tell you, I am the gate for the sheep.8 All who have come before me are thieves and robbers, but the sheep have not listened to them.9 I am the gate; whoever enters through me will be saved. They will come in and go out, and find pasture.10 The thief comes only to steal and kill and destroy; I have come that they may have life, and have it to the full. Fertility is one of those topics that's either avoided entirely—or turned into a fear-fueled spiral online. So we're cutting through the noise. Molly and Emese sit down with Dr. Lucky Sekhon (reproductive endocrinologist and author of The Lucky Egg) for a clear, science-backed conversation about what every woman deserves to understand: how fertility actually works, what's myth vs. fact, and what to do if you're feeling overwhelmed, behind, or panicked by the “biological clock” narrative. We get into the truths behind AMH and ovarian reserve, egg quality vs. egg quantity, and the real-world decision making around egg freezing—including the best age window, what the process really feels like, and why it's not a guarantee, but can be a powerful option. Dr. Lucky also breaks down how far IVF has come—why success rates have improved, how genetic testing can lower miscarriage risk, and we debunk the biggest fears we keep hearing. If you're in your 20s thinking ahead, in your 30s asking “what now?”, or in your 40s trying to stay hopeful, this episode is your no-shame, no-gatekeeping fertility roadmap—built on facts, compassion, and the truth that you're not a statistic. What if one quiet moment of kindness could echo far beyond what you see? This week on The Love Offering Podcast, I spoke with Cara Shine about her powerful memoir, The Hallway Miracle: The Prayer that Opened a Jewish Heart. Cara grew up shaped by antisemitic bullying and a deep wariness of Christians. Years later, she found herself working in an elementary school as the only Jewish staff member among Christian coworkers—watching closely to see whether faith was real or merely words. Set during the fearful days of the 2002 sniper attacks in the Washington, D.C., area, her story unfolds in a season of heightened anxiety. When tragedy strikes a nearby school, the atmosphere shifts from uneasy to unbearable. And then—something small happens in a hallway. A desk calendar devotional.A handful of M&M’s.A simple, heartfelt prayer. It wasn’t loud or persuasive. It was quiet, sincere, and deeply human. And it became a turning point. Cara’s story reminded me that love lived out with humility can open doors that arguments never could. Often, the Lord works through ordinary faithfulness—through small offerings of grace we may barely notice. If you’ve ever wondered how to reflect Christ with authenticity in a divided world, I believe this conversation will encourage you. You can listen HERE. In this episode of Full Circle, we turn our focus to a critical and often overlooked reality: menopause is a major turning point in a woman's heart health.Dr. Roshni Khatiwala, cardiologist and volunteer with the American Heart Association, joins the conversation to unpack why a woman's risk for heart disease increases during and after menopause — and why so many women are unaware of that shift. Many associate menopause with hot flashes, mood swings, and sleep changes. Few connect it to cardiovascular risk. As estrogen levels decline, the protective effects it once provided to the heart begin to diminish. Blood pressure may rise. Cholesterol can change. Weight distribution shifts. Metabolism slows.Even more concerning, heart symptoms can mimic menopause symptoms. Palpitations may be dismissed as anxiety. Fatigue may be blamed on hormones. Shortness of breath may go unchecked.Dr. Khatiwala explains how women can recognize warning signs, why family history matters, and what questions every woman should ask her doctor — especially during her 40s and 50s.This episode also addresses disparities, including why women of color often experience higher rates of hypertension and diabetes, and the importance of culturally responsive care and early prevention. The message is clear: menopause is not just a hormonal transition. It is a cardiovascular checkpoint.Small, consistent steps — regular checkups, blood pressure monitoring, heart-healthy nutrition, movement, and stress management — can significantly reduce long-term risk.Call to ActionIf you are approaching or experiencing menopause, schedule a heart health conversation with your doctor. Know your numbers. Discuss your family history. Share this episode with the women in your life — mothers, sisters, daughters, friends. And support the lifesaving work of the American Heart Association through volunteering, advocacy, or community education. Awareness is protection.
So Much More: Creating Space for God (Lectio Divina and Scripture Meditation)
Lent continues by inviting us to consider not only where we are going, but who we can trust along the way. In this third meditation of our Lenten series, I AM: A Lenten Journey with Jesus, we slow down with Jesus’s words in John 10:7–10:“I am the gate.” Jesus offers this image in response to growing confusion and distrust among the people. Many had been poorly cared for by religious leaders and were unsure who to listen to or where to turn. Speaking into this uncertainty, Jesus uses a picture His listeners would have immediately understood—the shepherd and the sheep. At night, sheep were gathered into a sheepfold with a single opening. The shepherd didn’t simply stand guard nearby. He laid his own body across the entrance. In doing so, he didn’t just protect the gate—he became the gate. When Jesus says, “I am the gate,” He is revealing Himself as the One who guards, protects, and gives safe passage. He is not a barrier meant to confine us, but a presence that allows us to come in and go out freely—to live securely and find pasture. This guided Scripture meditation invites you to imagine yourself within this scene and reflect on where you may be longing for safety, clarity, or care. Through several slow readings of John 10:7–10, you will be guided to listen, reflect, respond, and rest—allowing Jesus’s promise of protection and abundant life to settle into your heart. Lent reminds us that we don’t have to determine what is safe or life-giving on our own. Jesus invites us to trust Him as the gate—the One who leads us into real and lasting life. Does God hear everyone's prayers? In this episode, we explore what Scripture really teaches about righteousness, salvation, and effective prayer, unpacking what it means to be “righteous” not by works, but by faith in Christ (Philippians 3:9). Phylicia addresses hard questions like: Does God hear unrighteous or prideful prayers? What about the prayers of unbelievers? And do more prayers really equal more power? If you've ever wondered whether God hears your prayers, how humility matters, or how faith and fervency work together, this biblical teaching will bring clarity, encouragement, and gospel-centered hope.Revival in New York Article:https://www.cslewisinstitute.org/resources/revival-born-in-a-prayer-meeting/Shop Prayer ResourcesEvery Woman a Theologian Shop:https://phyliciamasonheimer.comSpring Shop launches March 12 with new prayer-focused resources and more.Watch the full Verity Podcast Prayer Series:https://www.youtube.com/@veritypodcastSubscribe to Verity Podcast:https://apple.co/veritypodcastVerity Podcast is an Every Woman a Theologian company. We believe every woman should be a theologian—every woman a student of the heart of God.Order Every Woman a Theologian:https://phyliciamasonheimer.com/product/every-woman-a-theologian-hardcover/New Release: Who Is Like Our God? In today's culture, appearance matters more than ever. From social media to fashion to aging, Christian women are constantly told what to look like, what to buy, and who to become. But what does Scripture actually say about beauty — and how does our identity in Christ reshape the way we see ourselves? In this episode, Ellen talks with Ashleigh Brophy, creative director of Preserve Magazine, about:• How to break free from cultural beauty standards • What identity in Christ means for everyday confidence and worth • How creativity, motherhood, and calling flow from a secure foundation in Christ • How to renew your mind about appearance and comparison • Why biblical beauty begins with rest in your identity in Christ, not strivingTrue beauty isn't something you achieve — it's something that flows from a heart anchored in your identity in Christ.Check out Preserve Magazine and their brand new issue!Scripture referenced:Romans 12:2Exodus 31:1-111 Corinthians 12:4-26Proverbs 31:30About Preserve Magazine:Website | Instagram | TikTok Ashleigh's favorite Bible study tools:ESV | Mr. Pen Highlighters | Notebooks | Romans: Verse by VerseGot a question or something on your heart? So Much More: Creating Space for God (Lectio Divina and Scripture Meditation)
This midweek prayer is an invitation to pause and return to Jesus, the Light of the World. This short midweek prayer invites you to pause, breathe deeply, and refocus your heart and mind on Jesus, who says, “I am the light of the world.” Drawing from John 8:12, this prayer creates space to name the places that feel dark, confusing, or hidden—both in the world around us and in our own lives. In Scripture, light is a sign of God’s goodness, presence, and life. Jesus tells us that when we follow Him, we do not have to walk in darkness, because His light leads to life. Have you ever felt that quiet tension between your ambition and your faith? You love Jesus. You’re grateful for the gifts and opportunities He’s given you.And yet… the pace feels relentless. The meetings, the deadlines, the expectations, the invisible pressure to keep achieving and proving. Even when things are going well, there can still be a restlessness underneath it all. That’s why I’m so grateful for this week’s conversation on The Love Offering Podcast with Erin Harrigan about her book, Redefining Hustle: Navigating Success with Jesus. Erin speaks directly to high-achieving Christian women—women who care deeply about excellence in their work but don’t want success to come at the cost of their peace, their families, or their intimacy with God. In our conversation, we talk about: The subtle ways self-reliance sneaks into our work Why hustle culture can quietly shape our identity How to pursue ambition without striving for worth Practical rhythms that anchor your workday in Christ What it looks like to measure success differently What I love most is that Erin doesn’t tell women to abandon ambition. Instead, she invites us to surrender it—to bring our goals, businesses, and careers under the lordship of Jesus so that our work becomes an offering rather than an idol. As someone who understands the tension of building a platform, stewarding opportunities, and caring for family at the same time, this message felt especially timely. We can work diligently and faithfully without carrying the crushing weight of proving ourselves. You were never meant to hustle for your value. You already have it in Christ. If you’re feeling stretched thin, quietly burned out, or simply hungry for a healthier rhythm, I think this episode will encourage you deeply. Praying this conversation helps you release striving and receive the steady, sustaining presence of the Lord in your work. Bone density predicts less than half of fractures in women. So if that's what your doctor is measuring, what's causing the rest? Osteoporosis is more complex than most of us realize. In this episode, I sit down with bone health expert Dr. John Neustadt, author of Fracture Proof Your Bones, to unpack what the typical doctor's visit often misses. We discuss: • When women really start losing bone • Why 95% of fractures happen after a fall • How antidepressants and acid blockers may increase fracture risk • The Mediterranean diet and its link to lower hip fracture rates • Whether bone loss can actually be reversed • The benefits and risks of medications like Fosamax, Prolia, and Zometa • The critical questions to ask before starting treatment If you're in midlife — or approaching menopause — this is information you need now, not later. Osteoporosis is serious. But it's not an emergency. You have time to educate yourself and make smart, informed decisions. Listen now and take control of your bone health. So Much More: Creating Space for God (Lectio Divina and Scripture Meditation)
In this second meditation in our Lent series, I AM: A Lenten Journey with Jesus, we slow down with Jesus’s words in John 8:12:“I am the light of the world.” Jesus makes this declaration during the Feast of Tabernacles, a celebration that remembered how God guided His people through the wilderness with a pillar of fire—a visible light in the darkness. When Jesus speaks these words, He is doing more than offering comfort or guidance. He is revealing who He is: the very presence of God, now shining with and among His people. Light is something we often don’t notice until it’s missing. When life feels confusing, when the path ahead is unclear, or when the weight of the world feels heavy, darkness can feel overwhelming. Jesus’s words meet us right here—not as a distant light shining from above, but as a light who walks with us and leads us toward life. This guided Scripture meditation invites you to reflect on Jesus’s words in two ways. First, you’ll be guided to notice areas in your own life that may feel hidden, uncertain, or shadowed. Then, you’ll turn your attention outward, holding the places in our world where it feels like darkness is winning and listening for the hope Jesus offers there as well. Through several slow readings of John 8:12, you will be guided to listen, reflect, respond, and rest—allowing the truth of Jesus as the Light of the World to shape how you see your life and the world around you. Lent reminds us that we do not have to figure everything out on our own. We are invited to follow the Light, one faithful step at a time. Can Satan hear your prayers? Can he block or manipulate what you ask God to do? In this episode, we answer one of the most searched questions about spiritual warfare and prayer: Is Satan omniscient—and does he have power over your prayer life? If you've ever felt anxiety about praying out loud or wondered whether the enemy can sidetrack your prayers, this biblical teaching will bring clarity and confidence. Scripture makes clear that only God is all-knowing (1 John 3: 20; Proverbs 15: 3; Isaiah 40: 13–14). Satan is powerful—but limited—and his defeat is certain (Revelation 20: 10; Matthew 25: 41). We explore Ephesians 6 and 2 Corinthians 10 to understand why prayer is spiritual warfare—and how spoken prayer partners you with Christ rather than empowering the enemy. In this episode: – Can Satan hear my prayers? – Can the enemy block or delay God's answers? – How does spiritual warfare actually work? – Should Christians fear praying out loud? If you want to pray with confidence instead of fear, this episode will help you rest in God's sovereignty.
