POPULARITY
It's impossible to overstate how important a role audio plays in the film viewing experience. While it's perfectly natural to be drawn to the visual side of filmmaking, those striking visuals don't hold the same weight without strong cinematic sound design to back them up. Whereas a painting is purely visual and a song can be purely aural, cinema combines sight and sound for a unified experience where one bolsters and elevates the other. In this episode Leslie talks to Craig Nimens, the Vice President of Sound Dogs.com, Inc. a commercial online library of sound effects based in Marina Del Rey, California, with offices in Canada, Argentina, and Uruguay. It is the first and largest online sound effects and production music library on the Internet launched in May 1997.
The second season comes to an exciting close in this special 1-hour episode as, in Part 1, Olivia tries to convince a reluctant Blake to return to the lab to help Josiah. Blake disappears and goes to help Thia, Roxie and Liz. Josiah prepares to complete his return to the physical world, but is outsmarted at the last second by Drew. And Roxie must take Cate to the clinic, but the women are blocked by a gun wielding Barbara. In Part 2, the family receives tragic news. Thia plans to leave, but is interrupted by someone from her past. And Sandra and Amelia draw the battle lines that will set the stage for the next season. Written by Cody Lindenberger. Many other companies make their instruments specifically for the Kontakt player so grab the free one! Just make sure that when you buy other VSTs for Kontakt that they work with the “Free” version. Sometimes it says “Full version required for this instrument to work!”. After you grab Kontakt 6 free, get the Komplete Start for a ton of awesome sounds! https://www.native-instruments.com/en/catalog/free/ iZotope: A staple for composers as well as sound designers. I use their plugins at work for mixing SFX. RX8 is the photoshop to SFX ya’ll. They have some free stuff sometimes! Currently, Vynl is free! https://www.izotope.com/en/products/vinyl.html Spitfire: A great company creating top of the line orchestral and pad instruments. They have some fairly cheap instruments too! They do not use Kontakt for their instruments, but created their own software to hold their plugins. Spitfire labs: https://labs.spitfireaudio.com/#category=&search=&new=true They put out new instruments for free every month. Sign up and get their LABs VST player to get these sounds and bring in as an FX plugin into your DAW (Reaper or ProTools or Fruity Loops, etc) Spitfire Orchestra: https://www.spitfireaudio.com/bbcso/ Scroll down and there’s a “Get for $49 or FREE!” If you push the “free” button it will ask you to take a survey and then they’ll email you this amazing orchestra plugin for free! I use it and it’s great! Project Sam: Another company creating some great, top of the line VSTs! The Free Orchestra: https://projectsam.com/library-category/the-free-orchestra/ 8Dio: Have a free section and they’ll sometimes have free giveaways! https://8dio.com/instrument-category/on-the-house/ Fruity Loops: This is more like a DAW for music rather than an instrument, but you can get the demo which comes with a lot of free plugins! FLEX is fan-freaking-tastic for synthwave music. Only caveat with the free demo is that you can’t save your work! https://www.image-line.com/
