We're officially into winter with rain and cooler maximums this week and no immediate sign of frosty mornings. Drier than average conditions are also forecast for southeast Australia and southwest Western Australia, while increasing signs in the Pacific Ocean suggest an El Niño pattern could develop later this year. UniSQ climate scientist Andrew Marshall joins the show to talk about temperature and rainfall forecasts, the possible impact of El Niño, and how conditions compare to recent winters.Published: 11 June 2026.Image: UniSQ Associate Professor Andrew Marshall (supplied)Theme music: AudioJungle - Mark_Music and Matt SteinerUniSQ: https://www.unisq.edu.au/ Ipswich Festivals: https://www.ipswichfestivals.com.au/Ipswich City Council: www.ipswich.qld.gov.au/Ipswich City Council meeting agendas and minutes: bit.ly/2JlrVKYCouncil meetings on YouTube: www.youtube.com/c/IpswichCityCouncilTVIpswich Planning Scheme: https://bit.ly/3g4Jwb7Shape Your Ipswich: www.shapeyouripswich.com.au/Ipswich Civic Centre: www.ipswichciviccentre.com.au/Black Swan Art (David Pearce): https://www.blackswanart.com.au/Ipswich Art Gallery: www.ipswichartgallery.qld.gov.au/Ipswich Community Gallery: https://ipswichartgallery.qld.gov.au/community/ipswich-community-galleryDiscover Ipswich: www.discoveripswich.com.au/Discover Ipswich what's on: https://whatson.discoveripswich.com.au/Workshops Rail Museum: https://www.museum.qld.gov.au/rail-workshopsIpswich Showgrounds: https://ipswichshow.com.au/upcoming-eventsIpswich Libraries: www.ipswichlibraries.com.au/Picture Ipswich: www.pictureipswich.com.au/Studio 188: www.studio188.com.au/Nicholas Street Precinct: www.nicholasst.com.au/River 949: https://www.river949.com.au/Free FM: https://freefm.com.au/West Bremer Radio: https://westbremerradio.com/Radio Springfield City: https://radiospringfieldcity.com.au/Local Ipswich News: https://localipswichnews.com.au/Ipswich Tribune Today: https://ipswichtribunetoday.com.au/The Leads music: https://theleadsmusic.bandcamp.com/Damien J Johnson: https://damienjjohnson.com/Lost Ipswich Facebook: https://bit.ly/3pLLBwNc Stream audio recommended. In this episode, I share the thinking behind my new live streaming and video content strategy. For the past several months, I've been very clear that Podcast Answer Man is an audio-only podcast, and that is still true. I remain a strong advocate for creating audio content that is designed first and foremost for the person who will listen later, away from the screen, in the flow of their real life. At the same time, I've always loved video and live streaming. In fact, I used to host “Live Show Thursdays” years ago, where people could sit in virtually and watch me record podcasts in the studio. This new strategy feels like the 2026 version of letting people sit in the studio with me. The key distinction I make in this episode is the difference between creating video content and creating a video podcast. I do not want to turn Podcast Answer Man into a polished video show. I do want to create compelling video content around the process of making the audio podcast. In this episode, I talk about three problems this strategy solves. First, there are thousands of people who used to listen to my shows who are no longer subscribed, even though many of them are still connected with me on LinkedIn, Facebook, YouTube, X, or my email list. Second, there are people who discover me through speaking, guest appearances, books, social media, and online communities who may never become regular podcast listeners, but who may still benefit from the messages I'm creating. Third, I want to create more video content without adding a complicated video production workflow that would make my podcasting process less enjoyable or less sustainable. My solution is to live stream the behind-the-scenes making of my audio-only podcast episodes. People watching live can see Adobe Audition, my outline, my recording process, my mistakes, my edits, and the way the episode comes together in real time. Along the way, I share several insights that came from this experiment, including: Documentation can become content without becoming performance. Behind-the-scenes streaming builds trust differently than the finished episode. Friction determines consistency. You should not build a content strategy that punishes you for having standards. Live streaming does not have to be consumed from beginning to end to be valuable. And this is a powerful way of reactivating dormant trust with people who already know, like, and trust you. This episode is not a recommendation that everyone should start live streaming their podcast production. It is an invitation to think more strategically about how your creative work can reach the people it is meant to serve without forcing you to create in ways that drain the life out of you. If you would like to watch the behind-the-scenes making of this episode, here is the link to the replay on my YouTube channel: https://www.youtube.com/live/7NuyobkkP8Q?si=io9Y7ap59_2QZxpz Also, if you are an entrepreneur, content creator, or thought leader who is looking to gain more visibility, create meaningful change in the lives of the people you serve, and surround yourself with support that helps you see blind spots and take aligned action, I'd love to hear from you. How do you record a successful podcast? In this episode of The Daily Grateful with Michael Crose, we dive into the age-old philosophy of "keeping it simple, stupid". From high-end studio gear like the Rodecaster Duo to budget-friendly alternatives, discovering the most effective way to share your voice doesn't have to break the bank. Michael breaks down different production styles, comparing his own professional setup with his daughter Cassandra's method for Cassandra Explains It All. He also highlights industry expert Cliff Ravenscraft, who relies on a compact, ultra-portable Zoom F2 field recorder and an iPhone to produce incredible content while out for a walk. Whether you are using Adobe Audition, free software like Audacity, or recording raw with zero edits, podcasting is entirely within your reach. Plausibly Live! - The Official Podcast of The Dave Bowman Show
There is something wonderfully old-fashioned about thisepisode. Not old in the sense of worn out, but old in the way a good highway diner is old, or the way a favorite ball cap becomes part of a man's identity. This is not a polished studio production wrapped in synthetic perfection. It is one man, a new recorder, a road stretching westward across the Hood Canal Bridge, and the quiet realization that sometimes the best conversations happenwhen nobody is trying too hard.In this stream-of-consciousness drive along Highway 101toward the Sequim Irrigation Days Parade, Dave wanders through the strange landscape where technology, nostalgia, frustration, and simple beauty all collide. One minute he is wrestling with computer equipment, Adobe Audition, and the financial gymnastics of avoiding a thousand-dollar computer purchase by spending hundreds on “solutions” that may not solve anything at all. The next, he is watching cloud-covered Olympic Mountains drift past the windshield while reflecting on why driving itself feels almost spiritual.Along the way, there are thoughts about Washington State gasprices, climate politics, aging technology, self-driving cars, old software that still works better than modern replacements, and the unsettling possibility that future generations may view driving the way we now view horseback riding.Mostly, though, this episode is about motion. About roads.About memory. About the small moments between destinations that somehow become the parts of life we remember most clearly. The Pacific Northwest rolls byoutside the window, and for a little while, you ride shotgun.

This week's episode of The Interviews is a one of a kind, as the legendary Richard Kind pops in to the podbooth to tell Chris Hewitt all about his role as Max Bialystock in the West End production of Mel Brooks' The Producers. Also popping into the podbooth this week are Regé-Jean Page and Halle Bailey, the ridiculously charming pair who headline new rom-com You, Me & Tuscany. They tell Chris about shooting that film in Tuscany, meeting at the Met Gala, getting splashed by sprinklers, and more. And finally, Mike Muncer has a lovely chat over Zoom with Ian Tuason and Nina Kiri, the director and star of Undertone, a new horror movie all about a podcaster undergoing a terrifying ordeal. That's us every time Adobe Audition decides to update in the middle of an edit. Enjoy!

There is a theory that both the next podcast edition of Charlottesville Community Engagement as well as the next written version might be delayed out of some sort of concern about whether the internal numbering system is equipped to deal with the impending approach of the 1,000th edition. At least, that is one possible explanation of why it has taken so long to produce these older stories from the last week. There was a slight disruption in the routine which sometimes results in delays. I'm Sean Tubbs, and I look forward to sorting it all out.Audio versions of stories previously sent out in the newsletter: * Charlottesville City Council agrees to reallocate funding intended to run low-barrier shelter (read the story)* Charlottesville's finance director presents more details on city's $8.5 million surplus (read the story)* The 700 block of Charlottesville's West Main Street is now known as “Mel's Walk” (read the story)* Albemarle's Economic Development Authority agrees to spend $500K on Boulders Road Extension (read the story)* Supervisor Mike Pruitt shares information on CARTA with fellow elected officials (read the story)* The Thomas Jefferson Planning District Commission will try again for federal funding for design of Rivanna pedestrian bridge (read the story)Charlottesville Community Engagement is a reader-supported publication. Change an overhead lightbulb, plant a flower, walk a dog for someone who is sick, visit someone who is lonely? If so, Cville Village needs you!Cville Village is a local 501c3 nonprofit organization loosely affiliated with a national network of Villages whose goals are to help seniors stay in their own homes as long as possible, and to build connections among them that diminish social isolation. Volunteers do small chores for, and have gatherings of, professors and schoolteachers, nurses and lawyers, aides and housekeepers. Time and chance come to all – a fall, an order not to drive, failing eyesight, a sudden stroke. They assist folks continue living at home, with a little help from their friends.Cville Village volunteers consult software that shows them who has requested a service and where they are located. Volunteers accept only the requests that fit their schedule and their skills.Volunteering for Cville Village can expand your circle of friends and shower you with thanks. To learn more, visit cvillevillage.org or attend one of their monthly Village “meet-ups” and see for yourself. As I was producing stories last week, I did produce the audio but I did not post them to the Information Charlottesville website. Somehow I forgot that finished audio segments had been made and it felt like a slog to have to do the audio again. This is because the radio version did not air last week and so I didn't feel the same pressure to follow all of the steps. This week there will be a radio show and I have enough material that I am considering slowing down a little this week to focus on business and administration things. Also, it is going to be in the fifties later and I want to go for a walk and watch the ice and snow melt. So I am going to aim to have the next newsletter out tomorrow. That will be #999 and after that will be #1000. No comma. I think that's how I'll get through adding a fourth digit.Another reason things were difficult this week is that my copy of Adobe Audition reset and a lot of my bookmarks disappeared. Because I could not see the recent links to session files, I assumed I had not produced them.I'm writing this as I produce the podcast and also missing are my links to various sound files I use as punctuation in between stories. Youngers versions of me used to love playing around with audio production. I still do, but these days the need to produce takes the capacity away from being creative.Which is why this may be a week I listen to my brain and take a slight reset. All I know is that I'm very glad to have this edition done and to have a few hours off away from writing. There are many stories to tell, but there are also days I need to do a little more.Oh! Another reason this week is weird. For some reason, the gain on the headphones for my recording set-up is really low so I can't really hear myself while narrating. This is an annoyance but also causes issues. Perhaps I'll spend the rest of the day setting up a new place to work! This is a public episode. The Shameless Plug is never late. Nor is it early. It arrives precisely when it means to, roughly halfway through the on-sale cycle of the latest issue of Empire. To which, after all, this show is dedicated to shamelessly plugging. And once again, the Fellowship of the Plug — Chris Hewitt and Empire editor, Nick de Semlyen — have assembled in the Podmines of Moria for that plugging. You have Nick's microphone, and Chris' copy of Adobe Audition, and if the deluge of Lord Of The Rings references hadn't already clued you in, the duo are here to talk about issue 450 of Empire, which is dedicated to celebrating 25 years of The Lord Of The Rings: The Fellowship Of The Rings. Nick regales us all with tales of reuniting the four Hobbits and Sir Ian McKellen, virtually collecting the rest of the Fellowship, plus Cate Blanchett, Liv Tyler, Peter Jackson, Philippa Boyens, and getting Andy Serkis to write a piece for us. It's not all LOTR, with tales of Raimi-wrangling, a bit of Gore, and a Gollum impression you will never be able to unhear. Simples. Enjoy!
