Actually, there are two of them. First, there is the unnamed guitarist at the White Guitar Channel. Here he is covering Dann's solo on "Never Wanna Go Back" by Geoff Moore and two different Dann solos on the song "Unexpected Friends." The second YouTuber is guitarist Kristian Larsen. Here is Krisian covering Dann's solo from Smitty's "Cross of Gold" and the iconic solo on "Secret Ambition." --- Dan Day is a semi-retired, former small business owner in the Wichita area. What's up, dudes? It makes sense that a Christian music record label would release a version of the Christmas Story, right? Yup. Sparrow Records, founded in 1976 by Billy Ray Hearn, then A&R director at Myrrh Records, did exactly that! In 1987, Sparrow released a promotional album to radio stations containing several of their biggest artists narrating the Nativity story. The B-side contained some Christmas IDs of these stars wishing us all a Merry Christmas. The Christmas Story narration is done in this order: Michael Card is up first, followed by Scott Wesley Brown, Margaret Becker, Steve Camp, and Richard Souther. Michael Card then takes it up again, this time followed by Steven Curtis Chapman, Geoff Moore, Rick Florian of White Heart, Deniece Williams, and Steve Green. The musical selections were taken from Steve Green's album Joy To The World! The Scripture reading was taken from The New International Version translation.Steven Curtis Chapman? Check. The guys from White Heart? Yup. Deniece Williams?!? Well, let's hear it for the voice! So grab your donkey, knock on all the doors to the town's inns, and remember what Christmas is all about, Charlie Brown, as the Sparrow artists narrate the Christmas Story!Check us out on Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, Totally Rad Christmas Mall & Arcade, Teepublic.com, or TotallyRadChristmas.com! This week's episode continues our series on The Journey of a Songwriter. We have Mike Murray joining us to talk about song publishing. He emphasizes the importance of networking and building relationships in the music industry. As a publisher, he meets with songwriters and artists to understand what they want to create and then connects them with other professionals, such as producers and writers, to bring their vision to life. This episode provides a fascinating insight into the world of song publishing and a music publisher's work. Mike's experience and industry knowledge offer valuable advice for aspiring songwriters and anyone interested in pursuing a career in the Christian music industry. Mike has been working in Nashville with Christian record labels since 1997, serving 7 years with Capitol CMG, 5 years with Provident Label Group, 12 years with Integrity Music, and most recently has joined Hillsong Music Publishing as their Head of Creative (still based in Nashville). During those years, he has had the honor of working with GRAMMY, Dove Award and Stellar Award-winning artists and songwriters like Hillsong UNITED, Leeland, Kari Jobe, All Sons & Daughters, Benjamin Hastings, Matt Redman, Mitch Wong, Lincoln Brewster, Israel & New Breed, Ben Tan, Paul Baloche, William McDowell and more. Prior to his time with labels, Mike paid his "roadie" dues for a couple of years, touring with 4-Him and with Geoff Moore & The Distance. Selling more than a million copies, Crossing the Chasm is arguably one of Geoffrey's most renowned books for addressing the challenges met by start-up companies.  Also written, amid an inspiring collection of related bestsellers, Zone to Win gained notable prominence for addressing the challenges large enterprises face when embracing disruptive innovations.   So, it is with great anticipation to be discussing Geoffrey's latest release - The Infinite Staircase, that metaphysically asks, "where do I fit in the grand scheme of things?" and ethically, "how should I behave? In addition to his books, Geoffrey will explore what it means to be a straight talker and the risks of false narratives, half-truths, and lies; why are these tolerated in government but not in business?  Although the public sector has a great deal of impact right now, through research and mentorship programs, Geoffrey envisions that the next generation of private sector leaders will step up to make a change.
