Devo 100: God Speaks on Foreigners

The devotional centers on the biblical mandate to love and welcome foreigners, drawing from Deuteronomy's instruction that God shows special care for the vulnerable—orphans, widows, and strangers—because His people were once foreigners in Egypt. It emphasizes that God is impartial, opposes bribery, and calls believers to mirror His justice and compassion by opening hearts and homes to those who feel alienated or displaced. The message underscores that hospitality, especially through shared meals, is a powerful expression of Christian love, reflecting Christ's identification with the marginalized. It challenges listeners to prayerfully discern and engage with strangers in their communities, recognizing that serving them is serving Christ Himself. The tone is pastoral and urgent, inviting practical, loving action rooted in theological truth and personal identity as sojourners.

The sermon examines Acts 4 to demonstrate that a genuine relationship with Christ produces visible evidence in a believer's life. It argues against building doctrine on isolated verses by using scriptural continuity to clarify that salvation comes through faith in Jesus rather than water baptism alone. The speaker identifies two primary components for spiritual boldness: immersion in the Word of God and a consistent prayer life. These disciplines empower believers to share the gospel with confidence and perform works that cannot be denied. Ultimately, the message challenges listeners to ensure their lives reflect a deep communion with Jesus so that others can recognize their faith through their boldness and impact.

THE BLOOD FROM HEAD TO TOE. LEVITICUS 8:22–24 LEVITICUS 8:22–24 KJV During the consecration of Aaron and his sons, Moses placed the blood of the ram upon Aaron's right ear, right thumb, and right great toe. These unusual details present a powerful picture of complete surrender to God: a consecrated ear that hears God's voice, a consecrated hand that performs God's work, and a consecrated foot that walks in God's ways. This message traces the sacrifice, blood, cleansing, consecration, and glory found throughout Leviticus 7–9 and shows how the Old Testament sacrifices ultimately point us to Jesus Christ and His sufficient sacrifice at Calvary. Before the fire fell in Leviticus 9, blood was shed and applied in Leviticus 8. God still calls His blood-bought people to belong completely to Him—from head to toe.

Two Mountains; One God

The wilderness journey continues as God's people move on from Rephidim and settle at the base of Mt. Sinai. It is a large, impressive, and intimidating mountain. There is thunder, lighting, quaking, and the loud blasting of trumpets. In that awe-inspiring and fear-inducing environment, God will meet with Moses and begin setting forth the conditions of the Old Covenant. If His people will obey Him, they will be His special people, a kingdom of priests, a holy nation, representing Him to the outside world. If they do not, they will surely die. In this passage, God not only continues guiding and providing for His people, He also continues revealing their need for a kind of deliverance that goes deeper than the natural realm. It is more significant than merely deliverance from Egypt. At the deepest level, they need deliverance from themselves, from their unbelief, and their own false confidence in their ability to save themselves. They need another mountain, different from Sinai, a mountain characterized not by distance and death, but by access and life. They need Mt. Zion where Jesus reigns supreme as the One who meets all the conditions, who provides full consecration, and who grants eternal life as a gift of grace. In the Exodus story, God is preparing them, and us, for this greater provision in Christ.

Psalm 19:7–11 sets forth the perfections and benefits of special revelation — God's word — as the counterpart to the general revelation explored in verses 1–6. This exposition works through the six descriptive titles David assigns to Scripture (law, testimony, statutes, commandment, fear, judgments), the corresponding attributes attached to each, and the practical effects they produce in the soul of the one who meditates on them. Main points: - the perfections of the word of God as set forth in the six titles and their attributes - the benefits of the word — its effects on the soul, the heart, and the eyes - the response the word calls forth — desire for it above gold, warning heeded, and prayerful dependence on God Scripture references: - Psalms 19:1-14; 29; 119 - Romans 10:4; 10:18 Free Grace Baptist Church — https://www.freegrace.ca Full transcript & sermon notes: https://sermons.freegrace.ca/sermons/sermon-psalm-19-the-psalmists-contemplation-on-the-revelation-2 Description generated by Tyrannus.ai: https://www.tyrannus.ai

This sermon centers on the biblical account of ten lepers healed by Jesus, highlighting the critical distinction between receiving mercy and offering praise. The preacher emphasizes that God is never overwhelmed by sin and extends unlimited grace to all who call upon Him for salvation. While nine recipients went on their way without looking back, the one Samaritan returned to glorify God, illustrating that true faith results in grateful worship. The message challenges listeners to avoid becoming like the nine who take blessings for granted and instead prioritize praising Jesus Christ above worldly concerns. Ultimately, the text asserts that God is inherently worthy of praise regardless of human feelings or cultural distractions.
