In this episode, the girls are joined by a couple canine co-hosts. Susie is not mad at extra soccer practices, and Danie has been channeling her inner Bob Villa in lieu of knitting. Stuff & Things A big thank you to Rachel of Unraveled Designs, designer of the Outlander Shawl, who reached out to Susie to suggest an alternate edging. So kind! Finished Projects Hahahahaha....None finished projects. Again. Current Projects Susie worked on both of her Life's a Peach socks again (this one and this one). She also cast on The Shallow socks out of Another Crafty Girl Strong Sock in the Voice of Reason colorway and a new self-striping sock design out of Nomadic Yarns Brit Sock in the Gives Me Goosebumps colorway. She also cast on a Moonquake cowl out of Suburban Stitcher Sport in the Eggplant and Masquerade colorways. Danie worked on her Chicago Socks and her Home Alone Socks. Enhance the Stash Susie enhanced her stash in a major way at DFW Fiber Fest. She picked up a Bolga basket from Windmill Crest Farms, three skeins of Must Stash Yarns & Fiber Perfect Self Striping Sock in the Vespa, Ready Player One, and I am Strong colorways, two skeins of a thing for string Himalayan Sock (undyed) to make a Siberian rustic shawl, and a skein of Teeny Button Studio Soft Sock in the Flying Horses colorway. From Suburban Stitcher she picked up a shawl kit for a Time Trades shawl, a skein of Sock on the show colorway Irving to make Hello Sunshine socks, four skeins of Sport in Eggplant and Masquerade for the already started Moonquake cowl, a total of five skeins of Merino DK in Eggplant, Clam City, Neptune and Bashful to make a Soldotna Crop (for the record, Danie's surprise was that no color direction was provided as a jumping off point), and two skeins of Single Sock in the Eggplant and Clam City. She also picked up the cutest hedgehog project bag from Whimzee Stitches, and various notions and pins from both Whimzee Stitches and Suburban Stitcher as well as a mini shawl pin from Crafty Flutterby Creations. Danie worked on her Chicago Socks and her Home Alone Socks. Enhance the Stash Susie enhanced her stash in a major way at DFW Fiber Fest. In this episode, the girls chat about their Mother's Day Cast-Ons (and Pick-Back-Ups). Susie is unsortable, and Danie does not recommend swatching babies. Events The girls will be attending Zombie Knitpocalypse again this year - June 20th-24th in Rochester, MN. Finished Projects Susie finished her Circuitous Ribbed Socks. Danie finished her Baby Vertebrae. Current Projects Susie worked on her second Evanesce sample out of Suburban Stitcher Single Sock in the Darkest Night, Dandiya, and Sari Silk colorways. Danie's Mother's Day Pick-Back-Up was her Daeyln Sweater. Project: Reconsideration Susie reconsidered her Winter Remix Hexi Socks. When she started them she was trying to be too fancy, and with having had to re-work the first sock once, she's over them.

Please contact us if you're interested in donating a giveaway prize. Finished Projects Danie finished a stack of garter stitch squares, which is the start of her Micah's Blanket. She also started and mostly finished (minus the felting) her Micah's Duffers (2016). Susie finished her secret hat project. Current Projects Danie has been working away on her HamilKnit hat. She also started a new sweater - Staring at Stars. Susie worked a little on the i-cord edging on her Oh Scrap Blanket, and on her Vedai sweater. She also worked through the cuff of her second Directional Socks, and cast-on Whisky & Rye using Marigoldjen BFL/Nylon Sock in Merry & Bright. She knit a bit on her Pebble Beach Shawl, and cast-on Close To You using Ethereal Fibers Aurora Borealis Sock (shawl) in Do You Know When Santa Farts at the Mall?, as well as a Luckdragon Shawl using KnitCircus Lavish in Humperdink, Humperdink, Humperdink. Enhance the Stash Susie acquired madelinetosh Tosh Merino Light in Undergrowth, a peppermint mocha bag from Suburban Stitcher, some Stonehedge Fiber Mill Shepherd Wool Worsted for a kid hat, and a couple skeins from A Whimsical Wood Yarn Co.

In this episode, the girls do a deep-dive into knitting with handspun. Susie can't carry a tune in a bucket, and Danie is a show-stopper. Miscellaneous things mentioned include With Pointed Sticks' Killer Fall Collection, Danie's and PrairiePoppin's (of Imagined Landscapes) prairie-inspired collaboration, Danie's collaboration with The Rusted Stitch and Lucia of the Knitted Paradise video podcast, the Cables & Arans Harmony Guide, and Melissa Schaschwary's designs. Listen here. Finished Projects Susie finished the 4th Birthday Socks, and the Alight Cowl. Danie finished several earbud pouches based on Mary Keenan's Earbud Pouch pattern, but modified for her toe-up preferences. Current Projects Susie started her second Newborn Bonnet & Wrap Set, and finished the bonnet. She also made some progress on her Threshold and has past the sleeve-joining point, and started her Ripple Ribbed Socks. Danie has been crushing the cables in her Tour de Fleece handspun in a modified Elda Cardigan. Enhance the Stash Danie acquired an amazing and endlessly useful NeedleBook from 19 Stitches. Susie acquired a wrist ruler from LVLY that she saw on Black Mountain Yarn Shop's Instagram feed, a skein of Leading Men Fiber Arts Show Stopper in The Great Sweater Debate, and the most fabulous zippered sock-sized project bag and matching WIPminder from Suburban Stitcher. You can also use a project bag by a podcaster! The design, yarn/fiber and/or project bag must be from a knitting/crochet/fiber podcaster. (Not all 3, just one of those to qualify) Use the chatter thread for discussion. Make suggestions. She wants you to be inspired to knit in or for the great outdoors this summer.   PALKAL 2015 PalKal is happening starting June 1st! I answer a few questions I've been asked on the boards, but feel free to ask anything that you think of. The most important update is that I've decided that you can use Wips for the PALKAL. Please use #palkal2015 on Instagram. I can't wait to see what you decide to do!   This is the biggest KAL of the year for Actually Knitting!  The Podcast Along Knit Along will start officially on June 1st, but let’s start our plotting and planning now! Here are the rules: Cast on: June 1 Bind off: September 1 The basic idea is to support a podcaster you listen to or watch by knitting one of their patterns and/or using their yarns for your project. You can also use a project bag by a podcaster! The design, yarn/fiber and/or project bag must be from a knitting/crochet/fiber podcaster. (Not all 3, just one of those to qualify) Use the chatter thread for discussion. Make suggestions. There are TONS of podcasts out there and almost no one knows about all of them, so if you know of a podcaster designer/yarnie/bag maker, feel free to share with us! You are encouraged to take advantage of the coupon codes offered by our sponsors, but you are not limited to those podcasters for the KAL. Sponsors and coupon codes will be announced in an upcoming episode. Please post finished objects in the non-chatter thread and include a link to the podcaster you are supporting. Enter as many projects as you like. Each project gets a separate post in the non-chatter thread. A note about project bags: a project bag may only be entered into the contest one time for an entry. (You can’t just keep using a podcaster project bag over and over and entering the contest that way). You must be a member of the Actually Knitting Podcast Group to win. Have fun supporting a podcaster designer or yarnie! Please do not chatter in the non-chatter thread. It makes it more difficult to draw a winner! Use the tag PALKAL2015 on Ravelry and #palkal2015 on Instagram In addition, I've decided that you can use WIPS for this KAL.
