**Originally Aired on Place to Be Nation Wrestling Feed in February 2021** On the landmark episode 10 of NWA Crock & Roll, Shawn, Dr. G and Calum are joined by first time guest, Rory McNamara (Special Relations, Seen Your Video, Wrestling 20 Years Ago podcasts) to discuss the first half of November 85! After a brief intro of Rory and his Crockett viewing history they open with the amazing storytelling of the build to Tully/TA “I Quit” match in 20 minutes worth of TV that has one of the best “real” angles ever and is the feud better than Dusty/Flair? Jim Crockett no selling President Bob Geigel mandates, Tully's continued trend of making fedoras look good, the “Soviet Union Ambassador of Destruction” Nikita Koloff, an atrocious Billy Graham/Abdullah match, several “uncomfortable” promos that would not hold up well in 2021, Starrcade 85 Update, complete with a Wahoo match announced much to Calum's chagrin, Dusty's “special” boot and return to the ring after injury, Arns continued claim to the now vacant TV Title, a trip to Mid South as Flair faces Butch Reed in a non title match with a shocking ending, why Sam Houston and Terry Taylor should stay away from microphones, the iconic first mention of the Four Horseman and close the show with the even more iconic greatest promo of all time... “Hard Times” as read by Calum Rhodes with a thought provoking breakdown by the newly tagged “Shakespeare of Special Relations” Rory McNamara. Starrcade 85 build continues and we are only halfway through the month! We aren't Tony & Conrad and don't pretend to be, but possibly our best episode to date!

Paco Osuna's record label, Mindshake drops a percussive tech house release by David Lowe featuring Jenny C, which has sassy vocals and rolling basslines. She regularly plays international DJ sets, and translates her knowledge of how to ignite a dance floor into the music she has released via labels such as Andidos, Agape and Techaway. NWA Crock and Roll Revisit No. 6, originally aired in December of 2020 on Place to Be Nation Podcast Network Matt Souza (Piece of the Action, Highway to the Impact Zone, Jenny and the Gems) joins the boys for a special bonus episode as they look at September 1985 Super Shows. 9 matches from Battle of the Belts 1 in Florida, WWC 5 Year Anniversary from Puerto Rico, and SuperClash 1 from Chicago—all from September '85! They open with some discussion on the passing of Pat Patterson, then dive into the action: 3 Road Warriors matches against legendary opponents and tag teams 3 Ric Flair title defenses, including a fantastic one with Magnum TA that they've waited five months for, one against a man with a pinfall win over Randy Savage earlier in the year, and one that causes controversy as Calum almost gets a pink slip for the holidays Possibly the worst match they will ever cover on this pod Dr. G's memories of Billy Jack Haynes A Six-Man Title match with the Russians vs. a team they had about ten names for (Team Cocoon?) Flair trying to get killed in Puerto Rico Terrible Larry Nelson and Mike Graham commentary …and so much more.
(Originally aired November 2020 on the Place to Be Nation feed) In this episode, the team welcomes Scott Shifflett to break down a red-hot month of NWA action from August 1985. Highlights include: A brief and forgettable reign ends for Mid-Atlantic Champion Buzz Tyler—gone almost as soon as he arrived. MVP promos from Ole Anderson, Ric Flair, Magnum T.A., and Tully Blanchard steal the spotlight. Not-so-MVP promos from Dusty Rhodes, including one that notably doesn't age well in 2020. The underrated brilliance of Baby Doll shines through, as the group agrees Dusty needs to back off. Two standout angles: a six-man match ending in a broken arm and a memorable Magnum T.A. legal confrontation that sparks one of the all-time great Starrcade bouts. An intense Ric Flair vs. The Russians confrontation, including a hidden gem NWA World Title match between Flair and Nikita Koloff from the Omni, laying groundwork for long-term storylines. A strong month for Sam Houston... until a disastrous match with Black Bart derails momentum. Terry Taylor's continued blandness as he challenges Tully for the U.S. Title. More groans as Jimmy Valiant appears in two matches, including a Six-Man Tag Title defense by the Russians—shockingly rated over 2 stars by some. A U.S. Tag Title bout featuring Billy Jack Haynes & Wahoo McDaniel vs. Rick Rude & Jack Hart (with a legendary manager). Paul Jones challenges Dusty for the TV Title using “his men”—but the panel agrees nobody's asking for this. The show ends with a visit to Florida, setting up a major Ric Flair vs. Wahoo McDaniel clash.
Originally aired on Place to Be Nation Podcast Feed in 2020, The Crockett time machine rolls into July 1985 as the crew welcomes first-time Crockett viewer Ben Locke to the show! The episode opens with a tribute to the late Road Warrior Animal, setting the tone for a heartfelt yet lively discussion. From there, the boys dive into one of the wildest weeks in wrestling history—July 5-13, featuring the first-ever Great American Bash, a red-hot six-man main event on Mid-Atlantic TV, and an all-time classic Tag Team Title Match. The crew also explores: The impact and legacy of Pro Wrestling Illustrated in 1985 The universal love for The Andersons (and the not-so-universal love for Jimmy Valiant) Hot crowds, Crockett tropes, and David Crockett's many expressive faces A new man crush for Ben A match that had Calum feeling some type of way Another legendary Dr. G story featuring the mysterious Grand Wizard The greatness of Manny Fernandez, and "The Flying Burrito" An all-time innuendo-laced promo from Magnum T.A. before chaos ensues The rise of a promising midcard with Terry Taylor, Sam Houston, and even American Eagle (yes, who?) The short-lived but real reign of World Champion Buddy Landell A heel Dusty Rhodes, a babyface Ric Flair, and a bonus World Title match from Mid-South The ongoing saga of Baby Doll, complete with Floyd the horse drama From new champions to emerging stars, ridiculous promos to emotional farewells—July ‘85 is absolutely loaded, and this episode captures every bit of it.
Many people see Christians as hypocrites, and that is because we proclaim one thing and do another in secret. If we're going to actually win anyone over to Christ, it is essential that we are vulnerable with them, showing them how Christ has redeemed us from our own sin and be transparent about how He is currently working in our lives and hearts.

This episode is loaded with classic storytelling, heated rivalries, and over-the-top characters that only Jim Crockett Promotions can deliver. The crew breaks down: The fiery continuation of the build to Magnum T.A. vs. Ric Flair, while Flair vs. Nikita Koloff begins to simmer—with David Crockett jumping into the chaos! The unforgettable debut of the Boogie Kid, more Paul Jones insanity (with a bold Bobby Heenan comparison), and a wild build to the Tully Blanchard vs. Dusty Rhodes barbed wire cage match—featuring Jimmy Valiant's prostitute, because of course. A surprising title change, two big tag team debuts, and a sad goodbye to a key roster member. Long-awaited appearances by both the Mid-Atlantic and Junior Heavyweight Champions, including a great Dr. G Denny Brown backstage story. A hilarious “stroke-out moment” from Shawn on Brett Sawyer (or was it Bart?)—with one of them really upset about a body part. Plus: Manny Fernandez karate poses, '80s goofiness at its best, and a full five weeks of wild NWA TV—all building to Bash season. It's 6:05 somewhere—so settle in for another deep dive into the magic and madness of mid-‘80s Crockett in this can't-miss episode of NWA Crock & Roll!

Welcome to Season 6 Episode 1 of the podcast. This season we will explore the overarching theme of hope as something we intentionally co-create through great strategy and action. I am incredibly honoured to be joined but not one but two "giants" in healthcare clinical leadership, Dr Don Berwick President Emeritus and Senior Fellow at at the Institute for Health Improvement and also special guest co-host Professor Catherine Crock Chair and Founder of the Hush Foundation. ( More complete bios in episode) In this powerful conversation we again use Marshall Ganz's perfect story arc of self, us and now to explore Dr Berwick's own story and journey of healthcare improvement, we discuss how important it is not do this work alone and organise and bring others will us. We learn that there is method in mobilisation as beautifully demonstrated by the success of the 100, 000 lives campaign. Leadership remains the pervasive theme throughout and the call to action extends to all of us in healthcare but particularly to the highest levels of leadership to courage and kindness, to dare greatly, get rid of stupid stuff, deeply listen and engage clinicians and patients and be prepared to change mind and direction with new and involving information. Whilst a short podcast conversation cannot do full justice to the wealth of combined knowledge and wisdom of these two senior clinical leaders, I know you, like I, will gain so much from this one and I encourage you to explore more of the resources we discuss linked below. We're chatting about the comics you liked as a little kiddo this week! The topic was inspired by a thread in the DD forums. This is always a fun topic and I always have to mention Asterix because it was so amazing. This week Tantz had to bow out but we have Gunwallace to replace her, and Banes is back! Gunwallace is a fellow Antipodean, that means he and I share many of the same cultural touch stones, particularity the comic Footrot Flats. (Tantz is still on the Patreon only video) Footrot Flats is a newspaper comic by the New Zealand creator Murry Ball. It's about a working sheepdog called “Dog” who lives on a farm owned by Wal, a single guy who works hard, drinks beer, and loves rugby. It's a comic that Australians saw as very “Australian” because it played into the mythological rural, working class image that we invented for ourselves, New Zealanders who have a similar history and felt the same, hence the shared popularity of this amazing very classically Kiwi comic from New Zealand. Footroot flats comics be seen in many great collected works as well as an awesome animated film from the 1980s called “Footrot flats: The Dog's tale”. I fondly remember it for the hit theme song sung by New Zealand singer Dave Dobbin, “Slice of Heaven” which is one of my favourite ever songs. Gunwallace has even designed a cocktail inspired by it. I will list the recipe here and I urge to try it while listening to that song! Cocktail recipe! Slice of Heaven — Dave Dobbyn & Herbs 50 ml Beerenburg jenever herbal gin 20 ml Drambuie 2 dashes bitters Half-fill an Old Fashioned Glass with ice, pour ingredients into glass. Add dashes of bitters. Stir gently. Garnish with a slice of orange. We used : Sonnema Berenburg, Drambuie, Peychaud's Bitters -New Zealand Music Cocktails by David Tulloch & Michael Sutorius The comics you enjoyed as a kid are determined by what was available to you at the time. For me what I recall most are the newspaper strips like Modesty Blaise, Mandrake the Magician, Wizard of Id, Crock, B.C., Footrot Flats, Hagar the Horrible, Peanuts, Blondie, Denis the Menace (British version), Andy Cap, Torkan,The Far Side, Garfield… The comics I actually bought were the Commando war comics, Scrooge McDuck, Mad Magazine, and The Phantom, which was very popular in British Commonwealth countries. I loved Asterix but would only get those from the library. Looking back a lot of those comics were quite influential on my art style and even my outlook on the world in some cases. My character Pinky has a LOT of modesty Blaise in her look, and I can see that I thought of myself as Torkan! Which comics did YOU like as a kid, which can you say STILL influence you now? This week Gunwallace has given us a theme inspired by Snake in the Office - Chaotic, sexy, rocking, snake charming to layers of groovy electric guitar and a piano tiptoeing around with a charming little tune tying it all together like a fine Persian rug! A sinuous synth clarinet impersonates a snake charming flute while giving us a lovely 1920s feel. Join The Stronger Collective today for Crock-tober 2024 & the perfect Accessory workouts for your goals: thestrongerco.com In today's episode we chat about: 1. The Truth About Arms and Nutrition:While nutrition plays a huge role in fat loss, it's the workouts that build the muscle. Many women focus too much on isolated exercises to tone their arms, but the secret to achieving strong, toned biceps and triceps is strength training combined with proper nutrition. Your muscles are built in the gym and revealed in the kitchen. So, if you want to see definition, it's about building muscle through compound lifts and supporting that work with proper nutrition. 2. Myth Busting: Spot Training Doesn't Work:It's common to believe that if you work a specific muscle (like your arms) frequently, it will reduce fat in that area. However, fat loss is systemic, meaning you can't target fat loss to one specific area of your body. Instead, fat loss occurs across your body based on genetics, and that's where proper nutrition and a balanced workout routine come into play. The more you build muscle, the more your body burns calories, even at rest. 3. The Science Behind Arm Muscles:Your arms are made up of fast and slow-twitch muscles, which are responsible for different types of movements. Biceps (two muscle heads) and triceps (three muscle heads) are smaller muscles that fatigue quickly when overworked. Overtraining these muscles, especially with repetitive isolated movements, can stall your progress and even lead to burnout or injury. 4. Focus on Compound Lifts:Rather than isolating your biceps and triceps with constant curls and dips, focus on compound exercises like push-ups, bench presses, and overhead presses. These movements already engage your arms, meaning less direct arm work is necessary. When done correctly, compound lifts will help build the overall strength and tone you're looking for without the risk of overtraining. 5. How to Incorporate Arm Training into Your Routine:If you want to specifically target your arms, it's important to do so smartly. I recommend: Full-body workouts 3 times a week: If you're doing 3 or fewer workouts a week, focus on total body strength training to build overall muscle. 1 dedicated accessory day: Add one additional accessory day focused on bicep and tricep exercises like curls and tricep dips. Keep it short and effective, aiming for 2-3 sets per exercise. Progressive Overload: Gradually increase your weights or reps week by week to challenge your muscles and stimulate growth without overtraining them. 6. Avoid Burnout:Consistency is key. Overdoing arm exercises, or any exercises for that matter, can lead to injury, burnout, and stalled progress. Train smart, not excessively. Focus on quality over quantity, and always give your muscles time to recover. By doing this, you'll avoid injury and ensure you stay on track with your fitness goals. Takeaways for Your Fitness Journey: Less is More: Instead of overworking your arms, focus on compound lifts and strategic accessory work. Systemic Fat Loss: Remember, fat loss happens across the body, not in specific areas, so your nutrition plays a huge role in revealing those toned arms. Avoid Overtraining: Quality over quantity is key to staying consistent and avoiding burnout. Ready to see real results with your biceps and triceps?
