Detroit Lions 2025 Cutdown To Kickoff: Initial Breakdown Chris & Jeff cover the Lions' status shuffle of Hendon Hooker, roster cut drama, and depth-chart breakdown—a perfect setup for a new episode of the Detroit Lions Podcast. The Detroit Lions have executed their most critical roster maneuver of the year—trimming to the 53-man roster—and currently sit at 52 players ahead of the season kickoff. The most notable surprise was the release of quarterback Hendon Hooker, who enters free agency after a preseason marred by turnovers and inconsistency. Head coach Dan Campbell had already signaled a shift in the QB hierarchy toward Kyle Allen, and Hooker's performance sealed his fate. Other casualties included veteran tackle Dan Skipper, along with several developmental players who were unable to solidify roster spots. The Lions' final roster currently features three potential openings as they continue to evaluate waiver and practice squad possibilities. Depth Chart Moves and Players to Watch With the Detroit Lions roster in flux, attention now shifts to who solidified their place and who remains on the bubble. The most pressing spotlight falls on: Kyle Allen, now cemented as the clear backup QB following Hooker's release. Daniel Thomas, added to bolster special teams and safety depth, immediately becoming a name to watch for situational snaps. Edge depth was shored up with defensive linemen Tyler Lacy and Tyrus Wheat, potentially shifting the Detroit Lions depth chart in ways fans haven't yet calculated. Training Camp 2025 emphasized competition at every level, particularly with remaining developmental players and late-round picks fighting to define their roles. As the regular season draws nearer, every snap becomes a statement. For a complete rundown of all roster cuts, a deep dive into Hooker's release, and who moved up the charts as the Lions enter the final buildup before kickoff, tune in to this pivotal episode of the Detroit Lions Podcast.https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GtmB3fjD900 Let us know what you think about the show by commenting in the podcast thread in the subreddit, or by leaving us a voice mail message via Skype at: Detroit Lions Podcast Your input will help make the show better, and if you leave us a message on Skype, you just might be featured in an upcoming podcast! What if the harsh voice in your head isn't “the truth,” but a clumsy survival strategy that can be rewired in minutes? In this episode, Megan blends Scripture with brain science to reveal why negative self-talk keeps recreating the same outcomes—and how a few surprisingly playful shifts (yes, playful) can lower its volume, change its meaning, and open up a calmer, more productive inner world. You'll hear a raw origin story, then step-by-step tools to interrupt the spiral, recode your “mental operating system,” and finally feel congruent with the woman you're working so hard to become. Inside the episode The real reason self-criticism sticks: its hidden “positive intent” and how to meet that need in a healthier way. A fast dissociation exercise to shrink the critic's power (including the “remote control” trick). The thermostat principle: how inner narratives quietly reset your results, regardless of achievement. Pattern-interrupt language that stops rumination and pivots you into action. Faith × neuroscience: practical ways to “renew your mind” so behavior change lasts. State shifts on demand: using the body to move the mind when you're stuck. A bite-size, 3-day reset to turn your inner voice from bully to coach. A new study is making waves in the bodybuilding community that hints that IFBB professional bodybuilding carries a higher risk of death compared to amateur bodybuilders. Almost 20,000 bodybuilders were followed for an average of 8 years. Results: 1 in every 167 bodybuilders had died and of those 46 deaths were related to sudden cardiac arrest. Their hearts stopped working suddenly, without warning. Among Mr. Olympia competitors, it was 1 out of every 20. What's the cause and are these results to be believed? Here's what you need to know. In this episode, we talk with Don Shor from Redwood Barn Nursery about summer gardening - specifically tomatoes - in the context of this year's mild weather. We share successes with tomato varieties like Dr. Wyche's Yellow and Chef's Choice Orange, while addressing challenges like blossom end rot and effective watering techniques. Don offers insights on various tomato cultivars, including promising hybrid-heirloom crosses, including the one pictured - the Genuwine - a cross between the Costaluto Genovese and the Brandywine. We also discuss the growing trend of peppers as perennials, along with best practices for cultivating them and other crops like cucumbers and rhubarb in hot climates. The conversation blends practical gardening tips with personal experiences for all levels of gardeners.Previous episodes, show notes, links, product information, and transcripts at the home site for Garden Basics with Farmer Fred, GardenBasics.net. Hopestream for parenting kids through drug use and addiction
ABOUT THE EPISODE:It's the season parents often dream of - their high school senior has successfully walked the stage and they're now packing the family car to make the ceremonial drive to the four-year university their family goes to. They'll do Parent Weekend, buy the sweatshirt and bumper sticker and wave their child off until they see them at Thanksgiving. But it doesn't go like that for everyone, and it sometimes feels like a facade if your child is on their way to a four-year university when they may be better suited for a community college - or a treatment program.Cathy and I sat down to talk about this very difficult transition period for parents - discussing various reasons why parents hesitate to change plans last minute when their budding college student shows signs they may be headed in the wrong direction, the pressure parents are under at this time, and of course, our personal experience and insights. We also share what parents can be looking for in the senior year of high school and the summer before beginning college, as well as options there are for kids in this tricky season.EPISODE RESOURCES:Success is Subjective podcastTreatment locator - AllKindsOfTherapy.com Assoc. Every finish line moment you've celebrated was made possible by someone who showed up before dawn, prepared water stations, or cheered when you needed it most. In this heartfelt episode, we pull back the curtain on race volunteering with insights from experienced volunteers who've supported events from local 5Ks to the Boston Marathon. Our volunteer panel—Ilyana, Steve, Kay, and Mike—share what motivates them to give their time, the behind-the-scenes work few runners see, and the special connections formed with participants during races. From setting up thousands of water cups hours before runners arrive to finding creative ways to encourage struggling participants, these stories will transform how you see the smiling faces along your race route."I want any runner that interacts with me to know that I'm there to help them in any way I can," explains Steve, capturing the generous spirit that defines the volunteer experience. Kay reminds us that volunteers are often the first to arrive and last to leave, asking nothing in return but the joy of supporting others' achievements. We're also joined by Mark Lane-Holbert, who shares his profound experience guiding a blind runner at the Boston Marathon and discusses his upcoming handbook on running therapy. His work with Achilles International highlights another dimension of the running community's supportive nature. The episode features a delightful conversation with five women who formed the "Joyful Runners" relay team for the Centennial 100K in Washington after meeting through our podcast community. Their story of strangers becoming teammates exemplifies how running creates meaningful connections.Whether you're a seasoned racer or preparing for your first event, this episode will deepen your appreciation for the volunteers who make our running journeys possible. New data shows the nations with the highest standards of living are seeing the sharpest declines in wellbeing, while people in poorer countries are reporting more happiness. What's going on? David Brooks' recent article looked at data from 142 countries, and he concludes that spirituality and social connection, not just wealth, are critical to human flourishing. In related news, since legalizing euthanasia in 2016 and expanding access to it, Canada has seen an alarming trend. Then, it's been 100 years since the Scopes Monkey Trial. Phil talks to Chris Staron, creator of the Truce podcast, about what really happened at the trial and how fictional retellings of the event are still impacting American culture. 2025 Detroit Lions Halfway Through Preseason: Practice Takeaways & Depth Chart Shifts With three days of joint practices in the books and their third preseason game looming against the Miami Dolphins, the Detroit Lions are striking the right balance between refinement and evaluation. In this episode of the Detroit Lions Podcast, titled “2025 Detroit Lions Halfway Through Preseason,” we break down key developments—from standout performances in joint workouts to the Detroit Lions depth chart dynamics shaping up as Training Camp 2025 winds down. Amon‑Ra St. Brown has been nothing short of spectacular. During joint sessions against the Dolphins, he repeatedly outmatched defenders with crisp routes and reliable hands. He opened one-on-one drills with a smooth 40-yard touchdown and continued to dominate in the red zone with back-to-back scores. Teammates and analysts have labeled him a “matchup nightmare”. Meanwhile, “Jamo”, a.k.a. Jamison Williams, continues to stand out this summer as well, showing explosive playmaking ability and drawing that supportive nod of confidence from his teammates and opposing coaches. Detroit's defense looked dominant, holding Miami scoreless over nine red zone snaps and stifling drives with relentless pressure and tight coverage. Players like Aidan Hutchinson, Jack Campbell, and Myles Adams delivered impact—supporting the notion that the defense remains a group to fear. Injuries are reshaping the depth chart: Cornerback Dicaprio Bootle and OL Keaton Sutherland have been placed on IR, prompting the Lions to add cornerback Allan George and offensive lineman Zack Johnson for depth ahead of their next preseason appearance. As Detroit Lions players to watch, keep an eye on Jamo continuing to carve his path, Amon‑Ra sustaining his elite form, and the young defenders who are quietly rising. The adjustment to new coaches and schemes, particularly with OC John Morton in place, has been noticeable, though St. Brown expressed the offense still has growing pains. Looking ahead, the upcoming game against Miami isn't just another preseason contest—it's another chance to redefine pecking order on the Detroit Lions depth chart before the regular season drops. With the roster still evolving, every rep counts. Tune in to this week's episode of the Detroit Lions Podcast as we break down the pressure points, breakout candidates, and the shifting landscape of Detroit Lions preseason football. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5vJsxBbaijs Let us know what you think about the show by commenting in the podcast thread in the subreddit, or by leaving us a voice mail message via Skype at: Detroit Lions Podcast Your input will help make the show better, and if you leave us a message on Skype, you just might be featured in an upcoming podcast! The Holy Post crew is suspicious of a new study that finds MAGA supporters score higher in authoritarianism, social dominance, and malevolent personality traits, while liberals score higher in compassion and empathy. Church planter, Brad Edwards, says many of us hold beliefs, language, and values that sabotage our ability to benefit from participation in a church. He talks to Kaitlyn about his new book, “The Reason for Church,” and why our anti-institutional instincts are self-defeating. Also this week, the Secretary of Defense reposted comments from his pastor that women shouldn't be allowed to vote. The Catholic Church says ICE detainees are being denied their religious rights.
