This episode explores the rise and fall of Tom Hayes, the former City trader at the centre of the LIBOR scandal, examining the culture of banking, the pursuit of profit, and the global investigation that followed. It was a small village in Hertfordshire, where very little ever disturbed the peace - certainly not the kind of brutal violence that unfolded when retired Army Colonel Robert Workman was shot dead on his own doorstep.Robert was an old-fashioned military man: well spoken, private, proud, and known for his calm and easy-going nature. He lived a quiet life and had no obvious enemies. So when news spread that he had been murdered outside his own home, the question on everyone's mind was chillingly simple - who could possibly have wanted him dead, and why? Please join me again on Friday, for the next episode of the UK True Crime Podcast.Writing Credit: Chris WoodYou can buy Chris's second book, 'Death in the Theatre' here: https://www.amazon.com/Death-Theatre-Chris-Wood/dp/1399009117Buy My New True Crime Content Creators Online Coursehttps://adam-s-site-be58.thinkific.com/products/courses/true-crime-content-creation-courseWatch my YouTube Channelhttps://www.youtube.com/@Adam-uktruecrime/videosGet All The News First - Subscribe To My Newsletterhttps://uktruecrime.comJoin UK True Crime Facebook Grouphttps://www.facebook.com/groups/UKTrueCrime Hosted on Acast. Between January 2022 and December 2024, 65,053 arson offences were recorded across the UK police forces that provided data - yet only 4.83% of these cases resulted in charges. Arson is a terrifying and often deadly crime with incredibly low conviction rates. In this episode of the UK True Crime Podcast, I look at the case of Stefan Geary and a series of arson offences that affected communities across the North East. I examine the police investigation, the evidence presented in court, and the impact the fires had on local residents and emergency services. Earlier this week, I had the pleasure of sitting down with legendary ex-detective Colin Sutton to talk about his new TV Series:Confessions of a Serial Killer: Levi Bellfield - available to stream on Prime Video from 25 May.In this series, Colin and his team re-examine the claims of serial killer Levi Bellfield, whose repeated and conflicting confessions to the 1996 murders of Lin and Megan Russell have reignited one of the country's most controversial cases. With another man still serving life sentences for the crime, this series unravels a complex web of evidence, doubt and deception, asking whether Bellfield is manipulating the system from behind bars. This is one series you really don't want to miss.I hope you enjoy my chat with Colin and I'll be back on Tuesday with the next episode of the UK True Crime Podcast.Watch my YouTube Channelhttps://www.youtube.com/@Adam-uktruecrime/videosGet All The News First - Subscribe To My Newsletterhttps://uktruecrime.comJoin UK True Crime Facebook Grouphttps://www.facebook.com/groups/UKTrueCrime Hosted on Acast. For many people living on the fringes of society, long-term plans often give way to simply surviving day by day. It can be a world shaped by addiction, instability and violence - as seen in today's case from Bournemouth on England's south coast. After human body parts were discovered in different areas of the town, a major police investigation led detectives to a cramped one-bedroom flat shared by three vulnerable people living chaotic lives dominated by drugs, alcohol and financial hardship. As tensions inside the flat spiralled out of control, the situation turned deadly, ending in a shocking and brutal murder.I release episodes every Tuesday and Friday, so please join me on Tuesday for the next episode of the UK True Crime Podcast.Buy My New True Crime Content Creators Online Coursehttps://adam-s-site-be58.thinkific.com/products/courses/true-crime-content-creation-courseWatch my YouTube Channelhttps://www.youtube.com/@Adam-uktruecrime/videosGet All The News First - Subscribe To My Newsletterhttps://uktruecrime.comJoin UK True Crime Facebook Grouphttps://www.facebook.com/groups/UKTrueCrime Hosted on Acast. A crime with no victims, just the faceless banks. Or is that ever really the case?Elliot Castro was one of the most prolific fraudsters in the UK, starting from a very early age where he stole identities and credit card details to fund a life of luxury across the world. From five-star hotels to designer shopping sprees, Castro lived under countless false identities while staying one step ahead of authorities for years. But behind the glamour was a deeply compulsive double life built on deception, manipulation and fraud. In this episode, I look at how Elliot Castro became one of the UK's most notorious conmen - and how his extraordinary criminal career finally came crashing down.I release episodes every Tuesday and Friday, so please join me on Friday for the next episode of the UK True Crime Podcast.Buy My New True Crime Content Creators Online Coursehttps://adam-s-site-be58.thinkific.com/products/courses/true-crime-content-creation-courseWatch my YouTube Channelhttps://www.youtube.com/@Adam-uktruecrime/videosGet All The News First - Subscribe To My Newsletterhttps://uktruecrime.comJoin UK True Crime Facebook Grouphttps://www.facebook.com/groups/UKTrueCrime Hosted on Acast. What began as a celebration ended in devastating violence.Pat Howard and Adam Fanelli were killed after a baby shower in Houghton Regis spilled out onto the street, where a confrontation escalated rapidly into a brutal and sustained attack. In front of multiple witnesses, the violence intensified - culminating in the use of both a vehicle and a knife. Along with Adam Fanelli, who was trying to defuse the situation, Pat suffered fatal injuries in a case which shocked the community.Investigators reconstructed the events through CCTV, witness accounts, and forensic evidence, revealing a deliberate and relentless assault. In this podcast I look at events leading up to the two murders, the police investigation and how those responsible were brought to justice. The events of that night remain a stark reminder of how quickly a minor argument can spiral out of control into shocking violence.Join me for the next episode of the twice weekly UK True Crime Podcast on Tuesday.Bedfordshire Violence & Explanation Prevention Partnershiphttps://bedsvepp.org/Watch my YouTube channelhttps://www.youtube.com/@Adam-uktruecrime/videosFind Our More About UK True Crime Podcasthttps://uktruecrime.comJoin UK True Crime Facebook Grouphttps://www.facebook.com/groups/UKTrueCrime Hosted on Acast. 50-year-old Robert Powell was brutally murdered outside a party in Essex in what investigators believed was a planned, targeted hit - carried out in front of his two sons. A truly shocking and deeply distressing crime. Thanks to determined and meticulous police work, the main suspect, Nana Oppong (pictured), was tracked down after fleeing the UK immediately after the killing. He travelled to Spain, before attempting to cross into Morocco hidden in the back of a lorry, using a fake Maltese passport. He was intercepted at Tangier Port and returned to the UK to face justice.Oppong later stood trial for Powell's murder - but his courtroom history added a dramatic twist. On three previous occasions, he had faced murder charges…and been acquitted every time. In the late 1970's, LSD was big in Cambridge University's radical academic fringe, inspired by LSD pioneer Timothy Leary. He had a strong belief that the drug broadened the mind and could transform society and make it better for all of us. Henry Todd got very much into this scene and then started his own LSD lab, producing huge quantities of the stuff. In the episode of the UK True Crime Podcast, I look at the undercover police operation that was Operation Julie which soon had Henry Todd and other making and selling LSD under survelillance, and how Todd later made the unusual move into high altitude mountaineering.I release episodes of the UK True Crime Podcast every Tuesday and Friday, so please do join me for the next episode on Tuesday.Buy My New True Crime Content Creators Online Coursehttps://adam-s-site-be58.thinkific.com/products/courses/true-crime-content-creation-courseWatch my YouTube channelhttps://www.youtube.com/@Adam-uktruecrime/videosListen/Watch the True Crime Catch Uphttps://audioalways.lnk.to/TrueCrimeCatchUpFind Our More About Mehttps://uktruecrime.comJoin UK True Crime Facebook Grouphttps://www.facebook.com/groups/UKTrueCrime Hosted on Acast. Jean Windridge lived near Birmingham and was always immaculate in her appearance, with a real fondness for flashy costume jewellery which led to her gaining the nicknames among friends of ‘Diamond Lil' and ‘Goldfinger'. In this episode of the UK True Crime Podcast I delve into the criminal history of Paul Bint, a serial conman known as the “King Con.” Bint repeatedly posed as high-status figures, such as barristers and senior officials, to manipulate victims, often targeting women and gaining their trust before exploiting them financially. This episode comes from Coventry where thirty year old Thomas Coleman was taking a horticultural course to get the experience needed for a permanent job. There he met a man ten years his junior, Robert Green who was on the same course. The pair struck up a friendship of sorts, although the two men were markedly different people. For instance, Robert Green sported a satanic symbol tattooed across his forehead whilst Thomas Coleman placed great faith in his Christian beliefs – as you can see, not the most obvious of friends. When Green believed the Devil had told him to make a human sacrifice, the man he chose to attack was his quiet and gentle work colleague, Thomas Coleman.Writing Credit: Chris WoodYou can buy Chris's second book, 'Death in the Theatre' here: https://www.amazon.com/Death-Theatre-Chris-Wood/dp/1399009117Find out more about the UK True Crime Podcast:https://uktruecrime.comSupport me at Patreon:https://www.patreon.com/UKTrueCrime Hosted on Acast. It was 9.50 am when paramedics rushed to Queenswood Avenue in Bournemouth after a 999 call from Anita Turner. In a calm tone, she had told the call handler: “My son's friend is staying with us. This morning I tried to wake both of them up but the girl didn't wake up. I can't wake her up.” The ‘friend' she was referring to was her son's girlfriend of the past few months, seventeen-year-old Emily Longley. Why had a seemingly fit and healthy Emily died that night? In this episode, we discover once again, how families are not always what they seem, and secrets are held within the four walls.Writing Credit: Tanita MatthewsBuy Tanita's new book today:https://www.amazon.co.uk/Murder-Judith-Roberts-Peter-Sutcliffe/dp/1399080121White Ribbonhttps://www.whiteribbon.org.ukFind out more about the UK True Crime Podcast:https://uktruecrime.comSupport me at Patreon:https://www.patreon.com/UKTrueCrimeSourcesAn Entitled Man - UK True Crime Hosted on Acast. Christian Thornton was the landlord of the Hammer & Pincers pub, in Widnes in the north-west of England, and a very popular landlord he was too, who was very popular and worked closely with the many charities in the community. He didn't take any nonsense but he was a kind, good-humoured man who took his responsibilities as a landlord seriously. He had run the popular pub with his wife for 16 years and as well as their business, it was also the home of the couple and their three children. But on one quiet and very normal Sunday, events at the pub resulted in the most shocking murder.Find out more about the UK True Crime Podcast:https://uktruecrime.comSupport me at Patreon:https://www.patreon.com/UKTrueCrime Hosted on Acast. Essex Police was the police force that first realised that a serial sexual attacker was on the loose following three attacks in the Southend area. But as the number of attacks in other locations continued to increase, the inquiry became nationwide and was managed by the Met. By the time they made an appeal on Crimewatch, at least 22 attacks by just one man had been reported - in addition to all the others of which the police were unaware. One man watching Crimewatch that evening from his home in Cornwall was certain that the culprit was his brother. He phoned Crimewatch, and this call led detectives to investigate across the south of England from Cornwall to Essex, and also to the bars of Torremolinos, on the trail of a DJ with a long history of sexual assaults.Find out more about the UK True Crime Podcast:https://uktruecrime.comSupport me at Patreon:https://www.patreon.com/UKTrueCrimeWatch my latest video:https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DEmTUMAOUIM&t=44sSourcesThe Predator DJ - UK True Crime Hosted on Acast.
