This episode is recorded around the breakfast table with lukes Gran and grandad, as well as his dad, where everybody chats about the previous night's money in the bank extravaganza that we all watched together. Before the founders of Magic Spoon tackled the cereal aisle, their first startup was a line of protein bars using cricket protein called Exo. While the business was eventually sold, it taught them the importance of product-market fit and the difficulty of building a category from scratch. I sat down with Gabi Lewis, co-founder of Magic Spoon to discuss his journey as a CPG entrepreneur, the lessons he's learned along the way, and why Magic Spoon had to raise nearly $100 million to bring change to the breakfast cereal aisle.

Scott Pianowski of Yahoo Sports joins me on this episode to discuss the Pretenders' 1979 debut album. In addition to breaking down this classic album in depth, Scott talks about how he got started playing fantasy sports, how he embraces variety in both sports and music and how sees the Pretenders' musical legacy beyond their first album.Random notes:I'd commented that the band is listed as “Pretenders” on all of their albums, but on some, they are listed as “The Pretenders,” including on Learning to Crawl — an album I actually owned.I have few pet peeves greater than hearing someone say “Chrissie Hyndes,” so I was mortified to hear myself pronounce her name that way at 36:30.Kudos to our dog, Branny, for providing sound effects at 41:36, when I was talking about “being floored” by Talk of the Town. (NOTE: This podcast was recorded first for members prior to Gronkowski clearing protocol.) After a classic rock intro, Mike and Scott discuss the keys to the big game and pick the winner and the score. Is the Nick Foles we saw versus the Vikings, a much better defense than the Patriots, fact or fluke? Do the Patriots even have to be chameleons in this matchup? Yards per point. Concussion protocols. Deep passing stats. Some Girls vs. Beggar's Banquet. Was David Bowie correct that Jimmy Page should be feared? The odds of a Belichick or Brady retirement. Various prop bets and the one probable loser that nonetheless pays the best odds. Please visit Patreon to support this content going forward for as little as $1 per month. www.patreon.com/BreakfastTablePodcast)
Mike and Scott preview the AFC and NFC championship games. Is the Jaguars defense for real? Are they too scheme specific? What is likely to be the Patriots strategy? Who covers Gronk? Can Bortles win a game at this level like Sanchez once did vs. Brady with a similar defense? With the NFC, is Case Keenum a product of super-elite WR play? Is Nick Foles good enough or just too ponderous? Is this Keenum vs. Foles or are the Vikings better almost everywhere? Which of the big losers in the division round is most likely to appear soon in the Super Bowls: the Saints or the Steelers? And of course, we pick both the games, along with some fantasy sleepers. Breakfast of Champions is served. (Patreon members get this episode like all episodes a day early. All the Thanksgiving and Week 12 games are broken down and analyzed. Should we care about projecting players who are being played anyway? That's Scott's debate with Kareem Hunt and Adam Thielen, who are projected by Mike. Mike and Scott go over all the games and talk about our appearance on Sunday at Giants Stadium to answer your Week 9 fantasy questions live and in person, with our good friend and Yahoo colleague Dalton Del Don. This is another long pod but one filled with strong opinions and detailed analysis that you won't find anywhere else, in its most actionable form. Mike and Scott go over all the games. They bicker especially over Jerick McKinnon of all people. Scott, shocker, is all-in on Doug Baldwin. Mike lobbies to have the same weekly rankings analysis applied to him as it was critically to Tyreke Hill. Mike unsuccessfully tries to convince Scott that Thomas Rawls is worth a speculative add vs. a weak Giants run D. Both agree they're sick of Ezekiel Elliott suspension drama. Scott is in on Chris Thompson touches, too. Patreon members get the podcast Wednesday overnight. Please visit Patreon to support this content going forward for as little as $1 per month. www.patreon.com/BreakfastTablePodcast
This is one of the better ones. Lots of actionable analysis and deep-dives that you won't get anywhere else. Some bickering of course, too, with Scott scolding Mike for interrupting. Another futile attempt to come in under and hour: it's 1:14. But it's tight and fully packed for your fantasy pleasure. The highlights are too many to mention. Oddly, lots of gambling tips from Mike's Sopranos-ish childhood past. Plus Jets-Pats which has in the past pitted the two against one another as much as it does the teams.
Mike and Scott look at the full slate for sleepers and busts and examining some trends such as scoring in Thursday night games, the lack of dominant market share for most top wide receivers, the viability of the 2004 QB class, the sustainability of Marcus Mariota, Wentz vs. Goff, Barry vs. Emmitt, the brutal Ravens and the surprise team that's now Raven-like (we mean this in a bad way).
