Bryan Kohberger's defense team has brought on Dr. Barbara Wolf, a forensic pathologist known for her work with O.J. Simpson's defense, as an expert witness in his case. Dr. Wolf is expected to review and challenge the forensic evidence presented by the prosecution, potentially undermining its credibility. Her expertise will play a significant role in the upcoming hearing, where Kohberger's legal team is seeking to have the death penalty removed as an option. The defense plans to argue that Idaho's execution methods—lethal injection and firing squads—are inhumane and unreliable, using Dr. Wolf's testimony to support this claim. The hearing, scheduled for November 7, will feature Dr. Wolf's testimony via remote video. The addition of Dr. Wolf signals a strategic move by Kohberger's defense to bolster their case against the use of capital punishment in this trial.(commercial at 7:16)to contact me:bobbycapucci@protonmail.comsource:Bryan Kohberger hires OJ Simpson defense witness for Idaho murders trial | Daily Mail Online

The pathologist who did Pauline Hanna's autopsy has taken the stand in Phillip Polkinghorne's murder trial. The Auckland eye doctor is accused of killing his wife, Hanna, in 2021 - although his defence claims she killed herself. The court's heard today from Doctor Kilak Kesha. ZB's Chelsea Daniels says Kesha detailed seeing a belt impression on Hanna's neck at the scene. "An officer there alerted him to a belt found - he said it looked identical, but pretty much immediately after, defence lawyer Ron Mansfield got Kesha to concede the belt could have been used in her death." Heartbreaking was the only word that could be used to describe the death of a 10-month-old baby in Perth. What was less clear cut is the question that was posed to the judge - was the baby boy's death an accident, or was he murdered by his father? Judith Fordham has been lauded as one of Western Australia's most high-profile criminal lawyers, but her dual expertise in law and forensics sets her apart from her colleagues. The trial of Chad Daybell took an intriguing turn as forensic pathologist Dr. Kathy Raven testified, asserting that Tammy Daybell's cause of death should be classified as undetermined. This challenges the Utah Medical Examiner's previous ruling of asphyxia. The court session began with prosecutor Wixom addressing a minor inaccuracy in Heather Daybell's testimony regarding her communication with Detective Hope. Both Wixom and defense attorney John Prior agreed it was inconsequential, allowing the court to move forward without further concern. Judge Boyce noted that the defense had two more witnesses scheduled to testify, but they were not present. Until their arrival, the court addressed matters outside the jury's presence, ensuring the trial continued smoothly despite the temporary absence of witnesses. Dr. Kathy Raven, a board-certified forensic pathologist with over 25 years of experience, provided critical testimony. She reviewed Tammy Daybell's autopsy report, photos, toxicology results, and various investigative documents. Raven concluded that the cause of Tammy's death should be classified as undetermined due to the lack of anatomical evidence. “There was no anatomical cause of death found for Tammy Daybell,” Raven testified. “All her organs appeared normal, and the toxicology report was extensive with no positive findings, making poisoning unlikely.” Raven also addressed the bruises found on Tammy's body, describing them as nonspecific and inconclusive in determining the cause of death. “The bruises on her arms were nonspecific and could not definitively point to asphyxia,” Raven explained. Reegen Price, a neighbor of Chad Daybell, testified about hearing a gunshot before September 9 and discussing unusual events with law enforcement. Price mentioned creating a timeline with her husband to make sense of the strange occurrences involving the Daybells. “I contacted law enforcement about a few unusual things I noticed,” Price said. “Hearing the gunshot was just one of many strange events.” In a recent development in the ongoing Chad Daybell trial, a minor inaccuracy in the testimony of Heather Daybell was brought to the court's attention by prosecutor Wixom. Heather Daybell had testified earlier that she did not provide any information to Detective Hope. However, prosecutor Wixom discovered her name in a police report, indicating that she might have had some interaction with the detective. Wixom described the inaccuracy as inconsequential and promptly informed the court. Dr. Kathy Raven's testimony provided a crucial perspective, challenging the previously determined cause of death and emphasizing the lack of concrete anatomical evidence. As the trial progresses, the defense aims to cast doubt on the prosecution's narrative, potentially influencing the jury's perception of the events leading to Tammy Daybell's death. The trial continues with further testimonies and evidence reviews, keeping the courtroom and public engrossed in the unfolding legal drama. Want to listen to ALL of our podcasts AD-FREE? During their investigations, police discovered Maxwell Anderson had a “sex dungeon” in the basement of his West Milwaukee home, according to a law enforcement source. Cops found a ‘sex sling', restraints, and handcuffs. A close friend of Anderson's said that on a visit to Anderson's home last year, he noticed a large hole in the ground about 5 feet long by 6 feet deep. Anderson said he was working on an underground basement, despite having a large basement in the home already. Neighbors say the basement in the home had small windows that were always covered, so you could not see inside. Police also found gas cans in the garage, and blood in several areas, including on bedding and the wall of a stairwell leading to the basement. After initial DNA tests, an amended probable cause affidavit reveals the blood is not Sade Robinson's. Katherine Aguasvivas is on a road trip, from her home in Homestead Florida, which is south of Miami, to central Florida to visit friends. After going through Orlando, Aguasvivas calls her husband Miguel in a panic. She tells him that she is in Winter Springs, and there is a green Acura running into her back bumper. He tells her not to stop, and keep driving, but neither of them calls 911. At 5:30 p.m., Aguasvivas stops for a traffic light at the intersection. What goes down next is caught on camera by a witness. A man dressed in all black gets out of the Acura approaches the driver's side of Aguasvivas' Dodge Durango and threatens her with a gun. He forces his way inside, climbing into the back seat, and forcing Katherine Aguasvivas to drive. The eyewitness calls 911. Over the past few weeks, we've been covering two cases in Arkansas: the murder of Gail Vaught, whose body was found on March 17, 1980, and Dennis Flowers. Police believe that Dennis was responsible for the execution style murders of Lee Dickson, a pharmacist who had become addicted to cocaine and started dealing it with Dennis, and Lee's wife Karen Dickson who was eight months pregnant. A few days after the brutal double homicide, Dennis' body was found under extremely mysterious circumstances, cause of death was listed as drowning in less than three feet of water and his manner death was ruled suicide. One of the questions that have come up in these cases and so many others is were these crime scenes as they appeared to be, or could they have been staged? This week Catherine Townsend speaks with investigator Arthur Steve Chancellor. who runs a company called Second Look Training and Forensic Consulting that provides investigative and forensic case consultation and training. You can find the company online at secondlooktraining.com or reach them at 919 360 3518. 5:30 p.m. April 2: Cudahy Police respond to reports of human remains found along Lake Michigan. At Warnimont Park, cops recover a severed human leg. Three days later, Milwaukee police find another unspecified human body part at a playground 11 miles away. A third set of unidentified human remains are recovered from a park just blocks from the previous discovery. In the meantime, Sade Carleena Robinson, 19, is reported ‘critically missing' by Milwaukee Police on April 1 when she fails to show up for a shift at Pizza Shuttle. Robinson's mother, Sheena Scarbrough, says Robinson texted her that afternoon to ask for money, which Scarbrough says is very unusual for Robinson. The next morning, police respond to reports of a car fire near 30th Street and Lisbon, 2 miles from Robinson's home. Fire investigators determined no one was inside the car, but family members identified the car as belonging to Sade. Sade Robinson's family joins the searches near the playground over the weekend. While police find unidentified human remains, Robinson's family discovers a blanket belonging to Sade. The distinct pink blanket pictures Sade with her beloved dog, Coco Chanel, who passed away. As more human remains are discovered, the family is losing hope Sade will be found alive. Authorities descend on a home 8 miles away in West Milwaukee. Investigators spend more than 24 hours searching the upper unit of the duplex, reportedly discovering blood in the stairwell and on a comforter. The homeowner is detained in connection with the remains found. Milwaukee Sheriffs reveal Maxwell Anderson remains in custody as a person of interest connected to the remains found along Lake Michigan. Anderson has not yet been criminally charged but does have a rap sheet. Anderson has several convictions including disorderly conduct, domestic abuse, and DUI over the last 10 years. In two incidents, Anderson became violent with relatives, and in a third, beat a stranger who intervened in an argument between Anderson and a woman. Anderson is said to work as a bartender for several establishments in the Milwaukee area. We're honored that you've joined us! Thank you! We're currently being downloaded in 111 countries! We deliver the facts … not fiction, covering every story with integrity and passion. In this explosive, follow-up, investigative interview, we further shine the light of the truth and drill deeper, farther and wider with Jana Guyewski Latigar (the sister of Crystal McCrory Jones).♦ We have word that KNOE News Channel 8 has a team of investigators actively working this case and will soon have an investigative report on the fact pattern regarding Crystal's mysterious, untimely and shocking death.♦ We've uncovered shocking details regarding the Forensic Pathologist in this case — and devastating errors that led to the exoneration of the West Memphis Three. On February 9th, 2023 in the sleepy town of Oak Grove, Louisiana, (population: ~2,275), Crystal was found dead in her home from what was reported to be a “self-inflicted” gunshot wound to the head. The West Carroll Parish Sheriff's Office (WCPSO) had this case “solved” in 105 minutes — less time than it takes to drive from Oak Grove to Shreveport, LA.From the initial deputy being notified by WCPSO to perform a “welfare check on the deceased” — law enforcement would've had to find Crystal's body; secure the crime scene, gathering, bagging and tagging all relevant evidence; canvass the neighborhood; track down any and all investigatory leads; interview any/all relevant suspects; complete all investigative written reports, while preserving the chain of custody … in under 2 hours! This would be amazing if it happened. In fact, it DID NOT happen this way! Police reports were strewn with misspelled words and inaccuracies, timelines of the spouse that don't match up. Premortem bruising was ignored and overlooked — which is a clear indication of a pre-death vicious struggle.♦ What was the hurry? Why the rush to judgement?♦ Why the hostile, combative responses from the Sheriff when family members of the deceased simply sought information into the death of their loved one? Isn't it normal for a devastated family to have questions, to seek answers? In this exclusive interview Jana sheds personal insight from her trauma-informed experience on courageously, (slowly) working her way through the life-altering grief stemming from her sister's death. She shares insightful coping strategies for anyone dealing with similar traumas. Also:♦ We talk about Complicated Grief, which can occur as a result of the traumatic and unexpected death of a loved one. We explore the Cycle of Grief. Everyone experiences grief — it is part of our human experience.♦ Other residents of West Carroll Parish have shared their concerns that there've been other cases that were quickly ruled a “suicide” when the facts weren't so clear.Follow Justice for Crystal McCrory Jones (the Facebook Group honoring Crystal's life and memory) and sign the Change.org petition which seeks to press law enforcement officials to re-open an investigation surrounding her mysterious death.Tune in and be educated and empowered!

A sketch of a possible suspect in the brutal Maryland murder of Rachel Morin has now been released. DNA collected at the scene linked the suspect to another assault across the country in Los Angeles. A doorbell camera captures the suspect as the left the California home, but it didn't show the suspect's face. Working with a sketch artist, investigators interviewed the witnesses of the home invasion in Los Angeles, as well as witnesses in Maryland, especially around the Ma and Pa trail. Some new information has been released about where Rachel Morin's body was found and where investigators believe her killer was hiding. Captain Andy Lane says there are drainage culverts along the trail, but most people wouldn't notice them because they are hidden by shrubbery and trees in the summertime. Standing at the scene, there is a bend in the trail near the hidden culverts. Investigators believe the killer attacked Morin in the bend on the trail, then drug her body through the weeds, trees, and undergrowth to the culverts. That is where Rachel Morin was murdered. Alex Murdaugh's three-day evidentiary hearing takes place later this month. The hearings will held in open court and court-controlled television cameras will be allowed. They cannot, however, focus on the faces of testifying jurors, who will be referred to by their juror numbers, not their names. The hearing will determine whether Murdaugh will be granted a new murder trial, after his attorneys, alleged jury tampering by Colleton County Clerk of Court Rebecca “Becky” Hill. Former S.C. Chief Justice Jean Toal is now the judge hearing the case. She took control of her South Carolina courtroom -, making several rulings affecting Alex Murdaugh's bid. His attorneys say jury tampering by Colleton County Clerk of Court Becky Hill impacted the original trial's outcome, and that according to Toal, will be the defense's burden to prove. The attorneys argued the law only required them to prove improper contact with jurors had occurred. Toal says she will rule that, “Prejudice must be proved, not presumed.” Toal says the stand she will take on the specific evidence of ”what was said, when it was said, and how it impacted the jury,” lies with the defense, not an assumption on Becky Hill's credibility. Toal told the courtroom that she would not allow the upcoming evidentiary hearing to turn into a trial of Becky Hill. Becky Hill is facing her own ongoing ethics and criminal investigations related to her conduct during and after the Murdaugh trial. The judge says she intends to limit the witness list to the twelve deliberating jurors and Becky Hill. An alternate juror and Juror 785, now known as the “egg lady” due to her insistence that she retrieve a dozen eggs from the jury room before leaving the courthouse, will not be allowed to testify. Toal says she sees “no necessity” to hear from anyone other than the (deliberating) jurors.” What's more, Toal says she will be the one asking the questions. David and Cindy Rainey rent a cottage for the weekend along a canal in Suwanee, Florida, 140 miles from home. The couple's two adult sons, Bailey and Jack, plus a family friend, join them for the weekend getaway. On Saturday, David walks away from the home and doesn't come back. Cindy and David Rainey reportedly got into an argument. David left, walking out of the house. He left his glasses, wallet, and cellphone behind in their rental home. The next morning, David still hadn't returned. Cindy calls the police. An extensive search ensues and continues throughout the day without success. It wasn't until early evening that same day, that deputies found David Rainey's body submerged in the canal in the backyard of the rental house. He had been stabbed multiple times in the chest and was still in the same clothes he was last seen wearing. Police say the body was placed in the water after death. David Rainey's death was ruled a homicide. It's been more than two years since David Rainey's body was found submerged in water and stabbed to death. Police have no suspects in the murder, but that doesn't mean they've not made an arrest. The Dixie County Sheriff's office says three of David Rainey's family members have been arrested. David Rainey's wife and two sons are all charged with tampering with evidence, apparently related to the dumping of Rainey's body in the canal after he was stabbed. Investigators with the Dixie County Sheriff's Office traveled to Bunnell, Florida, and arrested Cindy Rainey and Bailey Rainey, then traveled to Orlando, Florida, and arrested Jack Rainey. Cindy Rainey, Bailey Rainey, and Jack Rainey are being held without bond. In Florida, tampering with evidence is counted as a third-degree felony, with penalties of up to 5 years in prison, or 5 years of probation and a $5,000 fine. Police still have not released a suspect or a possible motive for Rainey's murder. Today we talk to forensic pathologist Werner Spitz. Dr. Spitz is 96 but shows no signs of retirement. As we'll find out, he wouldn't even want to retire on his 100th birthday in 2026. Spitz was born in what was then Germany and is now Poland in 1926 to a Jewish family and moved to France early in Hitler's rise to power. The family moved to Israel, where Spitz would later receive an MD. After he moved to the U.S., Werner worked as a forensic pathologist in Maryland and in Michigan, where he's based now. Over his career, Spitz has worked on the cases of JFK, MLK, JonBenet Ramsey, Nicole Brown Simpson, and others. He's also a coauthor of the textbook, Medicolegal Investigation of Death, an over 700 page tome written to help new forensic pathologists and the police. The book's in its fifth edition, it now contains color photographs, and has gotten rave reviews from many, including David Sedaris. We'll talk about the structure of forensic pathology, Werner's family, and his career. We'll be starting our annual summer hiatus soon. In Alex Murdaugh's trial, a forensic pathologist named Dr. Jonathan Eisenstat took the stand and explained why he disagreed with the autopsy findings on the trajectory of the bullets that killed Paul. Dr. Eisenstat's testimony was a crucial moment in the trial, as he testified that Paul's shooter would've been covered in blood and brain material based on his findings. This testimony challenged the prosecution's case and added a new twist to the already complex trial. The expert witness's testimony brought the focus back to the forensic evidence and the credibility of the autopsy report, reigniting discussions on the validity of the prosecution's case. #ForensicEvidence #TrialTestimony #ForensicScience #MurderTrialUpdates Want to listen to ALL of our Podcasts Ad-Free?
