Were YOU the “smart” one - the “creative” one - the “slow” one ... the “lazy” one? We all do it in some way - but are we (as parents) labeling our kids too early in their lives - at a point when they are still finding out who they are or what they want to be or do? For what reasons do we label our kids or even each other as parents? Is it a way of coping - making sense of the world - or is it an indirect way of actually killing the full potential of our kids and ourselves as parents. In what ways can negative labels continue to reach into grown up life - we hear from our two Young Adults about the pros and cons of labels. NOT fashion labels!! Find out answers to these questions and many more in this episode of Confessions of A Modern Parent. They take questions and suggestions from listeners on their experiences in parenting roles. If you have a parenting question or suggestion for Mark or Nadia, you can get in touch at: Twitter @mark_adderley

Happy Monday Motivation! Thank you for listening, sharing the podcast and connecting with me on social media to help continue to grow personally and professionally! Last week's podcast was about the negative effects MULTITASKING has on you, your relationships and your business or career! What did you determine? Are you, or WERE YOU a multitasker (until now!)? Did you recognize how it was affecting you? So, how did you modify your behavior so that you were able to get all the noise out of your head so you're able to focus 100% on your task, project, meeting or client? I know, I know, there's NEVER a good time to modify your behavior, let alone anything! It's kind of like a diet, isn't it? I'll start "after this project", or "this vacation". "I'll try that out once I have more time!" Hahaha, how do you ever expect to find more time to achieve better results if you don't change things NOW?!?! You'll have to listen in to this week's podcast to hear me talk more about what's behind that resistance to change. What's behind that "It's not a good time...." bullshit excuse! And how by how living in the NOW... you've WON! Because if you want to achieve MORE, if you want to BE MORE, then when IS a GOOD TIME? Hmmm! If you're struggling with stopping wanting to change the past or worrying about the future, email me and let's set up a time to talk! Have a great week! Cheers! Sandi
Phyllis Strong Interview. Phyllis Strong began her work on Star Trek with the seventh season episode of Star Trek: Voyager called "Body and Soul," which she wrote with her writing partner Mike Sussman. After an additional three credits on that show, she was offered the position of Executive Story Editor for first season of the new Star Trek spinoff which would be called Enterprise. During the show's run, she would write or co-write 12 episodes, many of which have become fan favorites including "Damage," "Dead Stop," and "Fusion." In this episode of Warp Five, Floyd Dorsey and Brandon-Shea Mutala are joined by Phyllis Strong to discuss her early writing career, beginning with spec scripts for shows such as Star Trek: Deep Space Nine and The X-Files. We also talk about how she began to write with Mike Sussman, and the path that lead them to working on Enterprise. We also discuss some of her favorite Trek episodes that she wrote, as well as some of the easiest and hardest characters to write for on that show. Chapters Intro (00:00:00) Welcome, Boomers! We’ve all had to endure breakups in one form or another. Have you had to go through the “other” kind of break up, the one with a close friend? On this episode of Duhmericana, we explore how it’s different to break up with a friend versus a significant other. So much history, so many memories. Sometimes friends slowly phase out from each other’s lives due to time and distance, but the hard ones are when they are the result of two people no longer seeing eye to eye. Breaking up can be healthy, though. It’s part of the growing-up process. We must come to terms with the absolute fact that people change over time. When you’ve tried your hardest to be a friend but the person is toxic to your life, or when you can’t stand around watching them destroy themselves anymore, or when you realize that maybe YOU are the toxic friend in the relationship, honesty is the best policy. Have you ever had to break up with a friend? Were you ever the toxic friend and had to cut it for the sake of the other person? Were YOU ever “broken up” with? Let us know in the comments!
