For years, I thought nutrition had to be all or nothing… you either perfectly tracked your food, followed a strict diet, or you were "failing." I spent so much time overthinking every meal, trying to find the “perfect” way to eat, only to end up feeling stressed, guilty, and frustrated.I thought true health meant rigid rules, obsessive tracking, and pushing myself to stick to the latest diet trend. But the truth? Nutrition should be about fueling your body, building strength, and creating habits that support your life, not controlling every bite.In today's episode, I'm answering your top nutrition questions: from intermittent fasting, to how to actually hit your protein goals, to healing your relationship with food in a way that feels empowering, not exhausting. If you've ever struggled with overcomplicating nutrition, feeling lost with protein targets, or rebuilding trust with your body, this episode is for you!I Also Discuss:(00:00) Nutrition Myths You Still Believe (and What Actually Works)(07:41) How Much Protein You REALLY Need (Without Going Crazy)(16:17) Healing Your Relationship With Food (Without Strict Diets)(18:07) Navigating Sobriety When Your Partner Still Drinks(24:47) Why Broads Is Different: Strength Over ScalThank You to Our Sponsors:Broads App – Get structured, progressive training and a powerhouse community to keep you strong, consistent, and unstoppable. If you're feeling fatigue, burnout, or just not like yourself lately… this might be why: you're leaking energy. In this solo episode, I'm diving into the three biggest energy drains I've experienced—and what might be draining you without even realizing it. From old friendships that no longer align, to overcommitting from fear of missing out, to the mental loops of comparison and perfectionism… these leaks add up. I'll show you how to spot where your energy is going (and why it's not coming back), how lower motivation and self-control often start with these hidden drains, and how certain interactions—even with people we care about—can fatigue us more than we know. In this episode: Why even "productive thoughts" like perfectionism tank your nervous system The 3 biggest energy leaks: people, patterns, and mindset Why your lack of motivation might actually be leaking energy, not lack of discipline What emotional labor and “attention residue” have to do with your burnout This isn't about cutting people off or hustling harder. It's about alignment. Energy alignment. Because when you plug those leaks, everything flows better—creativity, rest, even joy. 00:45 — Energy Leaks: What They Are & Why They Matter 02:00 — When People Drain You: Emotional Labor & Boundaries 08:10 — The Hidden Cost of Overcommitting and Multitasking 10:30 — Mindset Leaks: Perfectionism, Comparison & Burnout 18:50 — How to Audit & Plug Your Biggest Energy Drains LISTEN TO NEXT: Reparenting Yourself ( ep 287)

If we all have the same 24 hours in a day, why do some people seem to create massive momentum while others stay stuck in the spin cycle of "busy"? In this episode, we're unpacking one of the most powerful questions you can ask yourself about time management, and how finding the right answer could radically transform your productivity, your schedule, and your success. In this episode, you'll learn: The life-changing question you can ask yourself in the moment to get the most out of your time. How to tell if multitasking is killing your productivity Strategies to protect your focus time like your future depends on it — because it does Using the “domino effect” to get big results The Four hidden thieves of productivity that are robbing you of your time This isn't just another time management episode. It's a mindset reset for anyone who's ready to stop juggling everything and start focusing on what actually matters most. Resources From the Show: The One Thing by Gary Keller & Jay Papasan (book) The Wheel of Life Exercise Ep 75 - Is Your Environment Supporting Your Goals? Quotes to Remember: The most successful people don't find the time, they make the time. Multitasking is a myth. It's not something we should strive to be proud of. Don't underestimate the power of starting small. Success is not about being busy; it's about being intentional. Big results come from small, focused actions done with intention. Journal Prompts: What's the one thing in my business or life that if I really focused on it, would create a domino effect of momentum? Where in my day can I carve out protected time to focus on my most important priority? What distractions or “thieves” tend to pull me away from my focus? How can I minimize them? Some would argue our world has got too busy, too frantic, that we never get a chance to switch off. An estimate from a few years ago believes we have as much as 34GB of information coming into us every day. Some of this business is likely due to never being able to switch off from incoming info, as well as a loss of “stopping cues” around us, e.g. ads on linear tv, intermissions at movies. We can get into a pattern of always being on, always “doing”, never stopping and just “being”. It's arguably not good for our wellbeing —a constant low level of stress— and can also affect relationships, e.g. having a conversation at the same time as scrolling on your phone. Here are three things people could try if they want to experiment with an antidote to this business: 1) Mindfulness: one aspect of mindfulness is becoming aware of when your attention has shifted and moving it back to just one thing, e.g. your breathing. 2) Concentrating on doing everyday tasks one at a time, e.g. if brushing your teeth, just brush your teeth. Notice all the aspects of it – notice your mind wandering away and practice bringing it back to the task at hand. 3) Watch some slow tv. My best recommendation for the moment is the Great Moose Migration on Swedish tv (svtplay.sw). It's 24/7 coverage of moose migrating across a river —over 30 cameras but very slow— long shots of Swedish wilderness without a moose in sight. It's on right now but only lasts for a few more days – you can almost feel your blood pressure lowering. Give it a go, see if it makes a difference! As healthcare professions we are often pulled in different directions ALL AT ONCE. It happens. We "multitask" every day. Or do we? Neuroscience actually states that we don't multitask at all; rather, we "task-switch" and that may lead to increased physiologic and mental stress and patient error. Yep, there is a MYTH about multitasking. In this brief episode, we remind ourselves that its OK to put somethings off, as able, until one task is completed. As the famed stoic philosopher Publilius Syrus wrote, "To do two things at once is to do neither". Listen in for details.
Nutritionist Leyla Muedin details the impact of chronic stress on the brain, explaining how stress can lead to cognitive decline, weakened memory, impaired focus, and increased emotional reactivity. Leyla highlights the critical roles played by the hippocampus, prefrontal cortex, and amygdala in stress responses. Furthermore, she explores dietary choices that can help mitigate these negative effects, emphasizing foods rich in Omega-3 fatty acids, antioxidants, and magnesium, while cautioning against sugar, refined carbs, and excessive caffeine or alcohol consumption. Leyla advises on the importance of balanced nutrition in fostering brain resilience and reversing stress-induced damage.

Drawing from my experience managing properties 2,000 miles away, I've discovered that the difference between merely surviving and truly thriving comes down to how we approach our daily battles with productivity. When we allow "loosey-goosey" approaches to project management, problems inevitably arise. The solution? Strategic follow-up without micromanaging. Creating prioritized task lists with clear timeframes transforms team performance and personal productivity alike. Think about it: just as you might ask your children, "Did you take out the trash? Did you make your bed?"—follow-up in business ensures accountability while showing you're engaged without hovering. My productivity breakthrough came when I abandoned the triage mentality. Attempting to juggle multiple tasks simultaneously typically results in completing none effectively. Instead, focusing on one revenue-generating task until completion before moving to the next has dramatically improved my results. My system now includes evening documentation of tasks and morning prioritization when my mind is fresh. Combined with intentional distraction management—turning off notifications and creating dedicated focus time—this approach has transformed my daily experience from overwhelm to accomplishment.Try conducting a time study to identify where your hours are actually going. How much time is consumed by emails, messages, and other distractions? Once you know, you can systematically reclaim your productive capacity and experience the freedom that comes from bringing meaningful tasks to completion. What productivity system works best for you? I'd love to hear your strategies for winning the daily battle against distraction and overwhelm.Support the showThanks for Listening! Follow us on Tik Tok Facebook and Instagram

What happens when you stop multitasking completely for one week? The unexpected benefits and painful withdrawals I discovered… - Art BlanchfordIn this revealing solo episode of Life in Transition, host Art Blanchford shares his week-long experiment of zero multitasking and the surprising results it yielded. Art describes how eliminating distractions—no podcasts while running, no phone calls while driving, no TV during meals—initially triggered intense feelings of loneliness and withdrawal. However, as the week progressed, he experienced profound benefits: improved presence, weight loss from mindful eating, deeper connections with others, and remarkably, the disappearance of his chronic afternoon fatigue that had plagued him since recovering from chronic fatigue syndrome in 2020.The experiment transformed Art's relationship with silence and presence, leading him to implement sustainable practices moving forward. He now commits to mindful eating without distractions, incorporates mandatory 15-minute silent periods before any media consumption during activities, and institutes a 5-minute pause before reaching for distractions. These simple yet powerful practices have created space for clearer thinking, better impulse control, and increased productivity on truly important tasks. Art's vulnerable exploration offers listeners practical insights for breaking free from the "always on" mentality that dominates modern life.About The Show: The Life in Transition, hosted by Art Blanchford focuses on making the most of the changes we're given every week. According to a new poll in the UK, men can multitask as much as women! This shocking revelation has left one question standing: is this really true?Henry McKean has been asking the public, and joins Seán to discuss.
The BS of Multi-Tasking This simple process could well change your life and achievements forever. We've all felt overwhelmed by trying to do too many things, and in effect, doing little or all of them below your standard, which then leads to more overwhelm and all manner of negative emotions and limiting beliefs. And I make no apologies for the simplicity of this advice and it's as old as the hills yet so few use it - boy that's so sad :O( So take out 5 minutes, take out a piece of paper and a pen and let's change all of that. Your thanks can be in the form of sharing this with everyone who you think needs it https://personaldevelopmentunplugged.com/fmq-487-the-bs-of-multi-tasking Shine Brightly

There are all kinds of productivity tools out there promising to help you make the most of your day. Some people swear by timeboxing: the method of reserving time on your calendar each day for each task you want to get done, and then truly focusing on that one thing at a time. The return on merging your to-do list with your calendar like this, says Marc Zao-Sanders, is higher productivity, better collaboration, and less distraction and anxiety. He explains how try to the method yourself and the how your team and organization benefit from it, not just you. Zao-Sanders is author of the book "Timeboxing: The Power of Doing One Thing at a Time."

In this episode, my guest is Dr. Ellen Langer, Ph.D., professor of psychology at Harvard University and the world's leading researcher on the mind-body connection and the power our thinking has on our physical health. She explains how specific ways of framing and asking questions about the world shape our physical health and rate of aging. Dr. Langer also explains how our perception of time and control significantly impact our rate of physical healing, hormones, immune system, and longevity. She describes mindfulness as a way of framing life, not simply a meditation or other practice, and discusses data showing how to use one's mind to overcome health challenges and achieve remarkable outcomes. Dr. Langer is a luminary and pioneer in researching the relationship between the mind and body with scientific rigor. Her work and our discussion are applicable to women and men of all ages and walks of life. Read the full episode show notes at hubermanlab.com.
