Ep. 186 (Part 2 of 2) | In this lively, mind and heart-opening conversation, Miranda Macpherson, contemporary spiritual teacher and author, shares the extraordinary wisdom she has gained from experience—both from the initial life-changing transmission of boundless love she received in Ramana Maharshi's cave, and from the subsequent need for integration of the deeper truths that were revealed upon being called back “down the mountain,” back to the West to teach and serve. For her, the trick of navigating ordinary life without reconstructing an ego boiled down to three words: What's needed now? Miranda discusses how to show up in the world of today and not let resistance to right action win. “Wake up and love,” she offers. “Take inventory, ask, is there anything in the way of me being openhearted and awake in this moment?” She explains a practice she developed called ego relaxation, emphasizes the power of devotion—the source of strength, love, courage, and motivation—and shares several of the key questions she asks herself in her own practice to keep her receptive to existential grace. Miranda's inspiring teachings are infused with her foundational sense of divine benevolence; “Grace is alive!” she tells us. And being human, we can embody grace; we can become “grace delivery devices.” Recorded November 1, 2024.“Being human is a grace delivery device.”Topics & Time Stamps – Part 2After the ascent the descent; "coming down the mountain" (01:28)The power of devotion (04:12)A mantra carries with it the love, spiritual energy, and devotion of countless beings before us (06:28)The power of pilgrimages (08:58)Miranda's practice now: Can I open my heart to all the suffering, let it be understood more completely, and be transformed?

In this episode, Thom takes a connotative look at the story of the Garden of Eden through the lens of the Vedic worldview. It's a fresh perspective that gives us the opportunity to reconsider the lessons that might be behind this pivotal story.Episode Highlights:[00:45] The Triumvirate[03:09] The Forbidden Fruit[06:17] Can You Surprise the Omniscient?[09:33] Breaking Symmetry with Turiya[13:28] Sophistication and Multitasking[17:37] Restoring Contact with Cosmic Intelligence[21:58] The Kingdom of Heaven is Within[25:06] The Radical Effect of Learning Vedic MeditationUseful Linksinfo@thomknoles.com https://thomknoles.com/https://www.instagram.com/thethomknoleshttps://www.facebook.com/thethomknoleshttps://www.youtube.com/c/thomknoleshttps://thomknoles.com/ask-thom-anything/
Do you ever feel like life is one big race—and you're not sure who signed you up for it? On this lively episode, Rebecca and Seth Greene pull back the curtain on why so many of us are always rushing around (spoiler: it's not just you, and it's not just moms!). They share real-life stories, relatable struggles, and hard-earned wisdom for anyone desperate to slow down, set better boundaries, and actually enjoy the ride—even if the weeds in your backyard are winning. 5 Key Takeaways: ➔ Notice your triggers: Identify what sets off your rushing—morning chaos, deadlines, or your own high expectations. ➔ Set boundaries and say no: You can't do it all. Get comfortable with setting limits, even if your calendar protests. ➔ Anchor yourself with mindful breaks: Use simple pauses like breathing at red lights, enjoying lunch, or clarity breaks to slow your pace. ➔ Focus on one thing at a time: Multitasking may feel productive, but single-tasking leads to less stress and better results. ➔ Shift your time mindset: Remind yourself you have enough time for what matters. The kitchen doesn't need to be spotless every night, and the world won't end if your to-do list rolls over to tomorrow. Modern work culture rewards busyness, but often at the cost of clarity and peace of mind. Trying to juggle everything—Slack pings, emails, meetings, personal errands—can leave you feeling like you're always behind, even when you're technically getting things done. That constant pressure eats away at focus, making deep work feel impossible and quiet moments feel like a luxury. Multitasking promises efficiency, but more often it just blurs the line between being productive and being burnt out. Over time, it becomes hard to remember what it's like to move through a day without feeling pulled in every direction. Tara Nylese blends science and mindfulness to help people reclaim focus in a distracted world. Once a corporate leader under constant pressure, she now teaches practical methods to reduce stress and improve clarity. Her 10 Minute Mindfulness program shows that a few intentional moments a day can make a real difference. Today, she shares how simple breathing and awareness techniques can boost productivity and mental health at work. For her, you don't need hours—just a few focused minutes to reset and refocus. Stay tuned! Resources: Ten Minute Mindfulness Follow Tara Nylese on Facebook Connect with Tara Nylese on LinkedIn
If you're wondering how creators are really making money online in 2025—beyond the hype, the hustle, and the ever-changing algorithms—this episode is for you. I'm pulling back the curtain on the top three ways I've consistently earned income from my creative business, and I'm also sharing three things I'll never do again. Whether you're just getting started or trying to scale, I hope this gives you a dose of clarity (and maybe a nudge of encouragement, too). https://creativesonfirepodcast.com/episode198 Hosting a Quarterly Online Event That Leads to a Membership Hands down, one of the most successful strategies I've used is hosting virtual events that funnel into a membership. It started as a fun way to bring people together around a shared interest, but it quickly became a reliable system for launching and growing a loyal community. Quarterly events bring urgency and energy. They give people a reason to show up, engage, and—most importantly—take action. When your event naturally leads into a membership or recurring offer, it removes the awkward sales pitch and feels like the next logical step. Tip: If you're considering this model, focus on serving first. Create something fun, helpful, and highly relevant to your audience—and the right people will want to stick around for more. Consistent Monthly Brand Deal Partnerships One-off sponsorships are fine, but long-term brand partnerships are where the magic happens. Not only do they provide steady, predictable income, but they also allow you to go deeper with your audience while staying in alignment with your values. I've learned that you don't need to say yes to everything—in fact, you shouldn't. Choose partnerships that genuinely make sense for your brand. The right deals feel like collaborations, not compromises. Tip: Once you've found your rhythm, pitch brands you already love and use. Consistency builds trust, and trust builds income. Blogging Ad Revenue Let's not underestimate the power of your blog. Even today, blogging is still one of the best ways to create evergreen, scalable income through ad revenue. It didn't happen overnight. I had to stay consistent with posting, learn SEO, and be patient with the process. But now? My blog works for me, even when I'm not working on it. If you're sitting on a blog that's been collecting digital dust, this is your sign to dust it off and get back to creating. What I'd Never Do Again Every lesson comes with a story. Here are three money-making tactics I've tried that I wouldn't repeat: 1. Accept Free Product Instead of Pay Unless the product is truly life-changing (think: dream vacation, high-end tech, or something you'd genuinely invest in), don't trade your time and energy for “exposure” or free stuff. Your skills have value. Your time is money. 2. Try to Monetize Everything at Once I used to believe that doing all the things would lead to faster growth. In reality, it led to burnout and half-finished projects. Now I focus on one stream until it runs smoothly, then move on to the next. Focus leads to income. Multitasking leads to overwhelm. 3. Depend on Social Media for Income Social media is a tool, not the foundation. It's unpredictable, exhausting, and entirely out of your control. These days, I use social platforms to direct people to where the real magic happens—my email list, blog, podcast, and products. Final Thoughts The best way to make money online isn't the trendiest or flashiest—it's the most sustainable. For me, that's looked like building systems, leaning into consistency, and choosing depth over distraction. Which one of these income streams are you focused on right now? I'd love to hear from you! n the Episode: FUEL Mastermind is HERE Free Guide: Start Your Blog Today You can GO HERE to subscribe and review (On mobile, scroll down past the episodes to "Ratings & Reviews" section, tap the stars, then scroll down to "Write a Review") 2025 Content Planner for Content Creators SUBSCRIBE AND REVIEW I am honored to share a new Blogging Creative on Fire each week on the podcast to bring you inspiration, behind-the-scenes secrets, and quality tips. For years, I thought nutrition had to be all or nothing… you either perfectly tracked your food, followed a strict diet, or you were "failing." I spent so much time overthinking every meal, trying to find the “perfect” way to eat, only to end up feeling stressed, guilty, and frustrated.I thought true health meant rigid rules, obsessive tracking, and pushing myself to stick to the latest diet trend. But the truth? Nutrition should be about fueling your body, building strength, and creating habits that support your life, not controlling every bite.In today's episode, I'm answering your top nutrition questions: from intermittent fasting, to how to actually hit your protein goals, to healing your relationship with food in a way that feels empowering, not exhausting. If you've ever struggled with overcomplicating nutrition, feeling lost with protein targets, or rebuilding trust with your body, this episode is for you!I Also Discuss:(00:00) Nutrition Myths You Still Believe (and What Actually Works)(07:41) How Much Protein You REALLY Need (Without Going Crazy)(16:17) Healing Your Relationship With Food (Without Strict Diets)(18:07) Navigating Sobriety When Your Partner Still Drinks(24:47) Why Broads Is Different: Strength Over ScalThank You to Our Sponsors:Broads App – Get structured, progressive training and a powerhouse community to keep you strong, consistent, and unstoppable.

If you're feeling fatigue, burnout, or just not like yourself lately… this might be why: you're leaking energy. In this solo episode, I'm diving into the three biggest energy drains I've experienced—and what might be draining you without even realizing it. From old friendships that no longer align, to overcommitting from fear of missing out, to the mental loops of comparison and perfectionism… these leaks add up. I'll show you how to spot where your energy is going (and why it's not coming back), how lower motivation and self-control often start with these hidden drains, and how certain interactions—even with people we care about—can fatigue us more than we know. In this episode: Why even "productive thoughts" like perfectionism tank your nervous system The 3 biggest energy leaks: people, patterns, and mindset Why your lack of motivation might actually be leaking energy, not lack of discipline What emotional labor and “attention residue” have to do with your burnout This isn't about cutting people off or hustling harder. It's about alignment. Energy alignment. Because when you plug those leaks, everything flows better—creativity, rest, even joy. 00:45 — Energy Leaks: What They Are & Why They Matter 02:00 — When People Drain You: Emotional Labor & Boundaries 08:10 — The Hidden Cost of Overcommitting and Multitasking 10:30 — Mindset Leaks: Perfectionism, Comparison & Burnout 18:50 — How to Audit & Plug Your Biggest Energy Drains LISTEN TO NEXT: Reparenting Yourself ( ep 287)

If we all have the same 24 hours in a day, why do some people seem to create massive momentum while others stay stuck in the spin cycle of "busy"? In this episode, we're unpacking one of the most powerful questions you can ask yourself about time management, and how finding the right answer could radically transform your productivity, your schedule, and your success. In this episode, you'll learn: The life-changing question you can ask yourself in the moment to get the most out of your time. How to tell if multitasking is killing your productivity Strategies to protect your focus time like your future depends on it — because it does Using the “domino effect” to get big results The Four hidden thieves of productivity that are robbing you of your time This isn't just another time management episode. It's a mindset reset for anyone who's ready to stop juggling everything and start focusing on what actually matters most. Resources From the Show: The One Thing by Gary Keller & Jay Papasan (book) The Wheel of Life Exercise Ep 75 - Is Your Environment Supporting Your Goals? Quotes to Remember: The most successful people don't find the time, they make the time. Multitasking is a myth. It's not something we should strive to be proud of. Don't underestimate the power of starting small. Success is not about being busy; it's about being intentional. Big results come from small, focused actions done with intention. Journal Prompts: What's the one thing in my business or life that if I really focused on it, would create a domino effect of momentum? Where in my day can I carve out protected time to focus on my most important priority? What distractions or “thieves” tend to pull me away from my focus? How can I minimize them? Some would argue our world has got too busy, too frantic, that we never get a chance to switch off. An estimate from a few years ago believes we have as much as 34GB of information coming into us every day. Some of this business is likely due to never being able to switch off from incoming info, as well as a loss of “stopping cues” around us, e.g. ads on linear tv, intermissions at movies. We can get into a pattern of always being on, always “doing”, never stopping and just “being”. It's arguably not good for our wellbeing —a constant low level of stress— and can also affect relationships, e.g. having a conversation at the same time as scrolling on your phone. Here are three things people could try if they want to experiment with an antidote to this business: 1) Mindfulness: one aspect of mindfulness is becoming aware of when your attention has shifted and moving it back to just one thing, e.g. your breathing. 2) Concentrating on doing everyday tasks one at a time, e.g. if brushing your teeth, just brush your teeth. Notice all the aspects of it – notice your mind wandering away and practice bringing it back to the task at hand. 3) Watch some slow tv. My best recommendation for the moment is the Great Moose Migration on Swedish tv (svtplay.sw). It's 24/7 coverage of moose migrating across a river —over 30 cameras but very slow— long shots of Swedish wilderness without a moose in sight. It's on right now but only lasts for a few more days – you can almost feel your blood pressure lowering. Give it a go, see if it makes a difference! As healthcare professions we are often pulled in different directions ALL AT ONCE. It happens. We "multitask" every day. Or do we? Neuroscience actually states that we don't multitask at all; rather, we "task-switch" and that may lead to increased physiologic and mental stress and patient error. Yep, there is a MYTH about multitasking. In this brief episode, we remind ourselves that its OK to put somethings off, as able, until one task is completed. As the famed stoic philosopher Publilius Syrus wrote, "To do two things at once is to do neither". Listen in for details.
Nutritionist Leyla Muedin details the impact of chronic stress on the brain, explaining how stress can lead to cognitive decline, weakened memory, impaired focus, and increased emotional reactivity. Leyla highlights the critical roles played by the hippocampus, prefrontal cortex, and amygdala in stress responses. Furthermore, she explores dietary choices that can help mitigate these negative effects, emphasizing foods rich in Omega-3 fatty acids, antioxidants, and magnesium, while cautioning against sugar, refined carbs, and excessive caffeine or alcohol consumption. Leyla advises on the importance of balanced nutrition in fostering brain resilience and reversing stress-induced damage.

Send us a textEver feel like you're fighting an uphill battle with your to-do list? You're not alone. The entrepreneurial journey demands more than just managing tasks—it requires leading them to completion with purpose and focus. Drawing from my experience managing properties 2,000 miles away, I've discovered that the difference between merely surviving and truly thriving comes down to how we approach our daily battles with productivity. When we allow "loosey-goosey" approaches to project management, problems inevitably arise. The solution? Strategic follow-up without micromanaging. Creating prioritized task lists with clear timeframes transforms team performance and personal productivity alike. Think about it: just as you might ask your children, "Did you take out the trash? Did you make your bed?"—follow-up in business ensures accountability while showing you're engaged without hovering. My productivity breakthrough came when I abandoned the triage mentality. Attempting to juggle multiple tasks simultaneously typically results in completing none effectively. Instead, focusing on one revenue-generating task until completion before moving to the next has dramatically improved my results. My system now includes evening documentation of tasks and morning prioritization when my mind is fresh. Combined with intentional distraction management—turning off notifications and creating dedicated focus time—this approach has transformed my daily experience from overwhelm to accomplishment.Try conducting a time study to identify where your hours are actually going. How much time is consumed by emails, messages, and other distractions? Once you know, you can systematically reclaim your productive capacity and experience the freedom that comes from bringing meaningful tasks to completion. What productivity system works best for you? I'd love to hear your strategies for winning the daily battle against distraction and overwhelm.Support the showThanks for Listening! Follow us on Tik Tok Facebook and Instagram

There are all kinds of productivity tools out there promising to help you make the most of your day. Some people swear by timeboxing: the method of reserving time on your calendar each day for each task you want to get done, and then truly focusing on that one thing at a time. The return on merging your to-do list with your calendar like this, says Marc Zao-Sanders, is higher productivity, better collaboration, and less distraction and anxiety. He explains how try to the method yourself and the how your team and organization benefit from it, not just you. Zao-Sanders is author of the book "Timeboxing: The Power of Doing One Thing at a Time."
