Matt, Ken and Kenny continue their series on what it means to follow Christ and be transformed into his image in the process. In this episode, we follow the Holy Spirit into the desert to be tested and tried and changed in the process. Immediately after Our Lord's baptism, he was led by the Holy Spirit into the desert. It's no coincidence that the Israelites' experience was the same; from their baptism in the Red Sea, the Holy Spirit led them into the desert. What was true for Jesus, and true for the Israelites, is true for us: the path to the Promised Land is a path that leads not around but through the desert. Matt, Ken and Kenny continue their series on what it means to follow Christ and be transformed into his image in the process. In this episode, they continue exploring the practical steps involved in the process of sanctification by looking at what happened to us in our baptisms. How exactly do we begin to break the hold that our unhealthy attachments, addictions and idols have on us so that we might attach ourselves more closely to Christ? And what can we learn about all of these questions from the story of God's deliverance of his people in the Exodus? Matt Swaim, Ken Hensley, and Kenny Burchard continue their series on what it means to follow Christ, and receive His promises as part of the Christian life. Ken unpacks the story of Israel in Exodus as a pattern of sin and restoration that so many of us can relate to: we chase idols and mirages, which can never satisfy, while God wants us to turn to Him instead, to find perfect wholeness and joy. In this second of three episodes on God's law, Jon and Justin talk about the three uses of the law. In considering the three uses of the law, we are essentially answering the question, "Why did God give the law?" The first use of the law is to show us our sin and drive us to Christ. The second use is to teach all men right and wrong--and to restrain our corruption. The third use is to serve as the guide for our living in Christ. Without these uses in view, we are prone to make all kinds of errors in our application and understanding of God's law.Semper Reformanda: Jon and Justin consider how the uses of the law are often collapsed in our day and the resulting fallout of this confusion. In contending for the uses of the law, we are simply seeking to use the law lawfully (1 Timothy 1:8).Resources:First episode in this series: "Intro to Law and Gospel Distinction"Our episode on "What Must I Do to Be Saved?"Our episode on "John Piper on Holiness"Our episode on "Following Jesus Is Not the Gospel"Our episode on "Faith Without Works is Dead: James 2"https://youtu.be/AG-ZMlbZ4Fg

In this first of three episodes on God's law, Jon and Justin talk about the distinction between the law and the gospel. The law and the gospel are both contained in the Old and New Testaments, respectively. The law and the gospel are distinct and ought not be mixed--and, yet, they are complementary in God's economy of salvation. The guys introduce the listener to this historically Reformed doctrine and consider why it is so important. In today's episode, Blake covers the fifth pillar in the Calvinist system, Perseverance of the Saints, by delving into what the Bible actually says about salvation, eternal security, and what gives the believer assurance of salvation. The Bible is consistent in its description of the Christian life: it's like a race that must be run, and each runner should compete to win a crown! In today's episode, Blake encourages believers to run their race with great conviction and with the full hope of winning a crown. What Must I Do to Be Saved? is a series produced by That You May Know Him Ministries and is hosted by Blake Barbera.Show Notes:With: Blake BarberaWebsite: www.thatyoumayknowhim.comSend us an email: info@thatyoumayknowhim.comSubscribe to That You May Know Him on YouTube: https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCQj8J9HlcMgTA7Z5raVpeEA/featuredSubscribe to the Podcast: https://www.thatyoumayknowhim.com/listeniTunes: https://podcasts.apple.com/us/podcast...Spotify: https://open.spotify.com/show/4KIz8KN...Amazon Music: https://music.amazon.com/podcasts/99551148-3529-466b-a628-dfe594d26eca/that-you-may-know-him Castbox: https://castbox.fm/channel/4743963?country=us Buy Blake's Book: Secularism, the Church, and the Way Forward https://wipfandstock.com/978166671051...Connect w/ Blake on social media:Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/blake.barber...Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/barberablake/ Twitter: https://twitter.com/realblakebarb Support the show
In today's episode, we continue our discussion on salvation by debunking the myths surrounding the unforgivable sin. We ask, “what is the unforgivable sin that Jesus mentioned, and is it possible I've already committed it?” We conclude our discussion by outlining how it is that Jesus could mention an unforgivable sin when the Bible also promises that we're saved by grace. Are these two ideas compatible? What Must I Do to Be Saved? is a series produced by That You May Know Him Ministries and is hosted by Blake Barbera. The message of salvation can be found all over, and in various forms, in the Bible. Should we just repeat a specific prayer? Do we have eternal life if we've grown up going to church? How about the message of salvation that we tell others about. How can we be sure that the people we lead to Christ are truly saved? In part 1 of "What Must I Do to be Saved?" we will explore carefully the most important piece of the entire Bible, the gospel. Join us for our study of James 4:7-10

This episode is highlighting the importance of caring about our brothers and sisters in the world, as well as concerning ourselves with others before we consider our wants. So many times we become self-interested rather than being ministry minded in order for God to be glorified. In this day and time of pandemics and chaos, we as the people of God need to calm the storms of our neighbors so that they can ask, "What Must I Do to be Saved?" I hope this blesses you! --- This episode is sponsored by · Anchor: The easiest way to make a podcast. https://anchor.fm/app Support this podcast: https://anchor.fm/chariteamvmt/support
Season 1- episode 4 Beautiful Surrender: He Has My Yes Part 1: The Call of Surrender. Chapter 2- What Must I Do? This episode looks at the story of a rich young ruler who conversation with Jesus left him feeling disappointed and Jesus' disciples confused. "This story saddens me. This young man who had everything in the world you could want: riches, status, and even a belief in something greater than himself, still felt something was missing. He knew it, and that is why he ran to find Jesus, the man who he heard had all the answers. I think there are some of us in our churches and maybe even reading this book who like this man say we want to surrender everything over to Jesus. We have tried to find pleasure in the things of life, but have not found it to be fulfilling or long lasting. We have been told that true fulfilment can only be found by walking with Jesus and therefore we now approach Him hoping to find answers. The rich young man who had it all thought he wanted an answer from Jesus for his question, but the truth was he didn't. I think some of us don't either. Jesus knows our hearts, and he knows the areas in our lives where we have the most fear and therefore the most control over. The young man was rich because of his deep fear of having a lack, and through this fear he did everything he could to control his financial security. Jesus knew this and still had compassion on him. When we approach Jesus and say we surrender, Jesus will often expose these areas in our lives and allow us to make the choice whether we will surrender it. Often surrender to Jesus leads us to action. Whether it be selling our favourite technology gadget, or letting go of an unhealthy intimate relationship. In my experience walking alongside those who desire to go deeper with Jesus it is often attached to surrender and the need to let go of a dream, relationship, career, or even sometimes what part of town you live in. There always is an action attached to our surrender. Some of us say we want to surrender everything over to Jesus but once we approach Jesus and He shows us what that will mean, we also walk away from him with our face to ground." Thanks for listening!

9/25/19 BRUCE COTE GREAT ENCOUNTERS WITH JESUS: 10. WHAT MUST I DO? by The Abbey
This message is a follow up message to our VBS 2019 Outreach.. In this message, Dr. Smilie answers the question, “Who is Jesus?“ and "What Must I Do with Jesus?"Scripture References: John 1:1-10Have you ever heard someone speak of another who just has “it”? If so, they were speaking of the “IT Factor”. The IT Factor is that undefinable “something” that makes for star quality in successful people. If there was ever a person who had “it”, it was Moses, the friend of God. In this series, Pastor Smilie will help us understand all that goes into becoming people who, like Moses, have the “IT Factor” for successful Christian living.Click here to listen
What Must I Do to Be Saved? Acts 16:16-40 June 2, 2019 Pastor Tony Felich ----more---- Acts 16:16–34 [16] As we were going to the place of prayer, we were met by a slave girl who had a spirit of divination and brought her owners much gain by fortune-telling. [17] She followed Paul and us, crying out, “These men are servants of the Most High God, who proclaim to you the way of salvation.” [18] And this she kept doing for many days. Paul, having become greatly annoyed, turned and said to the spirit, “I command you in the name of Jesus Christ to come out of her.” And it came out that very hour. [19] But when her owners saw that their hope of gain was gone, they seized Paul and Silas and dragged them into the marketplace before the rulers. [20] And when they had brought them to the magistrates, they said, “These men are Jews, and they are disturbing our city. [21] They advocate customs that are not lawful for us as Romans to accept or practice.” [22] The crowd joined in attacking them, and the magistrates tore the garments off them and gave orders to beat them with rods. [23] And when they had inflicted many blows upon them, they threw them into prison, ordering the jailer to keep them safely. [24] Having received this order, he put them into the inner prison and fastened their feet in the stocks. [25] About midnight Paul and Silas were praying and singing hymns to God, and the prisoners were listening to them, [26] and suddenly there was a great earthquake, so that the foundations of the prison were shaken. And immediately all the doors were opened, and everyone's bonds were unfastened. [27] When the jailer woke and saw that the prison doors were open, he drew his sword and was about to kill himself, supposing that the prisoners had escaped. [28] But Paul cried with a loud voice, “Do not harm yourself, for we are all here.” [29] And the jailer called for lights and rushed in, and trembling with fear he fell down before Paul and Silas. [30] Then he brought them out and said, “Sirs, what must I do to be saved?” [31] And they said, “Believe in the Lord Jesus, and you will be saved, you and your household.” [32] And they spoke the word of the Lord to him and to all who were in his house. [33] And he took them the same hour of the night and washed their wounds; and he was baptized at once, he and all his family. [34] Then he brought them up into his house and set food before them. And he rejoiced along with his entire household that he had believed in God. The gospel for every person: Salvation is by faith alone in Christ alone. Subject: Book of Acts Speaker or Performer: William Pope Scripture Passage(s): Acts 16 Date of Delivery: July 22, 2018 The Apostle Paul and the Apostle Peter were two very different men. Paul was highly educated, Peter was a fisherman. Peter followed Christ from the beginning, Paul at first persecuted Christians and did not follow the Gospel until his conversion on the Damascus Road. Paul even tells us in one of his letters how he and Peter had an argument once. Yet, we find that in the Book of Acts, they both had the same answer to this very important question, What Must I Do to be Saved? What was that answer? We examine that answer and more in this message from Acts 13-16.

Today’s religion has ceased to be relevant and today’s gospel does not bring people to that pivotal point of asking the question, “What Must I Do.” What is the proper way to preach the gospel and how have we deluded ourselves into thinking we are preaching the gospel?
