As the American Diabetes Ambassador and Executive Leader for the Tour de Cure, I'm on a mission to promote healthy living and empower others in their diabetic journeys.During the interview, I talked about the potential dangers of both Type 1 and Type 2 diabetes, stressing the importance of monitoring, eating well, and staying active. It's crucial to take care of our insulin, mental health, and physical well-being.Losing my grandmother to Type 1 diabetes at 29 and witnessing my father's battle with Type 2 diabetes inspired me to spread awareness and bring hope to those living with diabetes. With my A1C at 5.7, I'm proof that meticulous care can help us live vibrant lives despite the condition.I shared heartfelt personal stories and emphasized that with proper management and lifestyle choices, we can have a lifespan comparable to those without diabetes. He played for the Saigon Heat four years ago and is currently retired. Today We're speaking with Gary about his journey in life as a healthy, incredibly active diabetic basketball player.   Here are Gary's tips: 1. Research your body and keep track of your blood sugars. How it reacts to your medicine and the foods that you're eating. Keeping a 30 day journal is what Gary's father used to do to track his levels. 2. My Hemoglobin A1C has been consistently within an incredibly healthy range for several years and within the past four years between 5.7-5.4. My most recent A1C is 5.4 which was taken about two months ago.
