We are Russian agents on this one. Billy, Joy, and new guest Nikolai discuss the Strelka Institute, an architecture and urban planning school/think tank housed in Moscow, which Joy and Nikolai both attend. We also discuss the strange dreams that Nikolai has been having, including one where he and his friends are running away from an apocalyptic event. Finally, Joy and Billy discuss the perils of going to single sex schools. And a bunch of other stuff, I don't really remember and I didn't re-listen to the whole thing honestly, so the quality might be off. In this episode, myself and Rob Kozar have a two-pronged thesis. The first part of it is that US government puts forth false narratives in order to justify our military presence in foreign countries, namely the Middle East. The second part of it is that the media often plays-down or mis-represents our actions involving foreign governments. We look at a plethora of articles and look at how this thesis holds up in our relation to Yemen, Iran, and Saudi Arabia. We begin with a quick look at Vietnam, and even earlier at the CPI, to find the origins of when the government began to put forth false narratives to justify our actions in the world. In episode 6, we do a little reading series. We look at Giorgio Agamben, Nietzsche, Chu Tien-Wen, some author whose name I forgot that Joy talked about, and Svetlana Alexievich. We also talk about Charles Murray's visit to Middlebury, and analyze how the right can "trigger" events such as the violent protests at Midd to occur, and then put that reaction into some overarching narrative of theirs that strengthens their side. The question is, can we use this force to trigger the right in effective ways?
