Thousands of people left Summit Church within a year. A big part of the Christian community in Orlando was left to figure out how to move forward. Difficult questions needed real answers. After finding out that Isaac Hunter resigned, people all over the city of Orlando were left with tons of questions. What happened? What went wrong? The idea of a calling from God can be really challenging to face. As the days turned into weeks where Isaac's behavior became more strange, it led to deeper questions. Was Isaac ever really called to be the Pastor of Summit Church? If he was, what does that mean for all of us? We're deep in Fantasyland.

Ten years ago, our hometown of Orlando, FL was a bedrock of contagious Christianity. Young people all over the city were experiencing God with a love that felt like it could spill out and bless the whole world. Churches were growing, and one church in particular had a vision not unlike that of Walt Disney himself. The call of God inspired the founders of Summit Church to see an entire city transformed, and they had the momentum and the power of God moving among them in a way where nothing seemed impossible...Today, however, Orlando has become a Christian ghost town among local Millennials, a city of Lost Magic. Connecting with people who are different than us can be awkward. A few weeks ago on the show Mia challenged us to get lunch with someone who is super different than us. Mia joins us on the show again as we talk about what happened when we stepped out of our comfort zone to engage people who believe, act, and see the world differently than us. It was an interesting experiment for sure and it taught us more about how to enter the world of others the way Jesus did.

The idea of Listen, Connect, and Help is a powerful plan for making meaningful connections with people so that they can experience God's love through us.Mr. Rogers was a man who really understood the power of Love, and he helped people experience the kind of Love that God has for each of us.Christians have been confused over the years about evangelism, with popular sayings like "come out and be ye separate" and in turn thinking that we shouldn't associate with sinners. But Paul makes it clear in 1 Corinthians 5 that any separation we should do from people is NOT from everyday people in the world, (These are the very people we should RUN towards and love with everything we've got.) but rather we should separate ourselves from church-going people who claim to be Christians who are also intentionally immoral when they are confronted and do not begin to take on more of the Jesus kind of life.Have you ever made this clear distinction and let it inform your approach to people who do not yet know Jesus?
