King David was anointed on three separate occassions. I Samuel 16:13, II Samuel 2:4 and II Samuel 5:3. Yet, it wasn't until that third anointing and possibly 20 years after the first anointing that he became King of all Israel. Life takes twists and turns on this journey, but God is faithful. Anxiety lends itself to feelings apprehension, uneasiness or nervousness, usually over an impending or anticipated ill according to the Merriam-Webster Dictionary. Additionally, it is defined as an abnormal and overwhelming sense of fear, often marked by physical signs (such as tension, sweating, and increased pulse rate), by doubt concerning the reality and nature of a threat, and by self-doubt about one's capacity to cope with it. Luke 15:11 - 32 is the scripture reference in today's discussion. It's speaks of the return of the Prodigal Son and the magnitude of love the his good father extends towards him. We are never so far removed from God that his love cannot reach us. We can come to ourselves, turn from our wayward acts and make our way home to him. The beauty of the story, is that he (the father) is ready with open arms to receive us. The father never looses sight as to where we are. He never forsakes the son despite his deeds. John 4:4 - 30 This biblical account of the Samaritan woman that meets Jesus at a well in Sychar is a wonderful illustration of reconciliation and restoration. Her encounter with a loving Savior transforms her life and changes her future. Likewise, we too can have an exchange with Jesus Christ. The Word of God can penetrate our hearts and mend our brokenness while leading us to a place of wholeness.
The Bible is full of beautiful stories of imperfect people. The twelve disciples can go at the very top of the list. As imperfect and flawed as they were, Jesus hand picked them non the less. These same men went on to turn the world upside down. If you look carefully, I am confident that you can see traces of yourself in at least one of the chosen twelve. Regardless of your flaws and imperfections, God has handpicked you and has a plan for your life.
