2 Corinthians 4:16-18 That is why we never give up. Though our bodies are dying, our spiritsare being renewed every day. For our present troubles are quite small and won't last very long.Yet they produce for us an immeasurably great glory that will last forever!! So we don't look atthe troubles we can see right now, rather we look forward to what we have not yet seen. The following episode is a live recorded sermon from the Sunday gathering at The Heights Church Denver on 04/28/24 Anger and Psalm 4 | Emotions and The Psalms Corbin Hobbs Everyone is trying to figure out how to deal with what they feel. In the Psalms we learn how to bring what we feel under the Lordship of Jesus. We are currently in the middle of “The Year of Prayer.” A full year devoted to learning the power and practices of prayer. In this series we want to use the prayer book of the bible to help us navigate our emotional/feeling life. Each week we will look at one of the eight core feelings and allow a Psalm to guide us in what it looks like to bring that emotion to God in prayer. In this episode, we stand on Pslams 37:25 which says " I have never seen the righteous forsaken" and God's word to me that all contracts, agreements, curses, and plans of the enemy are VOIDED by the blood of Jesus! We need to stand, DECREE, AND DECLARE VOID over your life, family, and more! Listen and tell me what are you voiding in your life? Resource: The Bible Promise Book - https://a.co/d/dTkDgCz
Read- Ephesians 2:1-22 Ecclesiates 6:1-12 Romans 11:29 Pslams 78:41 God has a plan even for the most broken parts of us since Day 1. The only thing the Lord asks of us to take care of though, is what He has given us. God gives us a destiny but He asks us to be a part of the destiny He has for us. We are the only ones that can limit God in our lives, but in 2024 what if we removed those limitations and watch God do the impossible! What you decide to do will be based on the vision you have for your life. God makes us master creators because we are His masterpiece To create room for God thoughts you have to bring all other thoughts to His throne Between your call and your destiny are choices that build your character. Growing up means we put away toys and pick up tools! It's time for us to be people that are real, that have Holiness and are shaped after His character. Only then can we hold the weighty destiny that He has for us. God doesn't want us to burn and fizzle out but He's wanting us to leave a legacy. God is calling us into maturity this year as a group of believers so let's make that decision as a family today! Application: What are some decisions you have to make that will help your character transform to look more like Jesus? Prayer: Father I'm thankful that in this New Year, I can truly become a new version of me. I'm praying for new thoughts, new visions and I'm asking that you develop the fruit of my Spirit so that I can develop the character necessary to hold the destiny that you have for me!
Normally as the holidays draw near, podcast and TV shows with series tend to provide mixed versions of The best shows, re-runs with the goal in mind ito give the host, co-host, actors and actress a break, with an early vacation. However as a Uber Eats driver I know the desperate need for content. Just give me Something on the move that I can listen to that isn't music therefore I made sure to produce an episode for all those who are traveling and want to continue with the scheduled program. Who would like to have something to stimulate their minds. Those who don't want a break from listening to their favorite podcast. Today I reflect on Psalms 68:19-20 and Connect it with the relevance of the Christmas holiday. I begin with a question: Why did the son of man appear? I hope this is a great reminder for people of faith and a blessing to you who decide to press play. Merry Christmas from The Truth Of The Matter is podcast family. Be well!

Throughout 2023, the first prayer guide of each month is being written by Michael "Sully" Sullivan. Periodically, we'll pull Sully in for a podcast to set up that prayer guide. This week, Brian and Sully will talk through Psalm 71 and the importance of Holy Week in the rhythm of the church, how the Psalms can frame up Holy Week, and then how we can enter into the prayer guide together this week. In the West, we've often been so wrapped up in Palm Sunday, maybe Good Friday, and Easter Sunday, that we miss the beauty of Jesus's actions through the other days. Further, we rarely if ever explore how the Old Testament prepares us for the story. We hope this episode will send you on a journey of exploration in the Pslams and the surrounding narrative of Jesus's suffering, death, burial, and Resurrection. Below, the titles for each day of the week are links to posts about that day, and I have included lines from each Psalm that complement the events of the day:Holy Week: The Final Days of Jesus Palm Sunday (April 2): Jesus Rides into Jerusalem Psalm 118:1-2, 19-29 (20: This is the gate of the LORD through which the righteous may enter.) Monday (April 3): Jesus Cleanses the TemplePsalm 36:5-11 (8: They feast on the abundance of Your house) *Tuesday (April 4): Jesus Teaches in the TemplePsalm 71:1-14 (4: Deliver me, my God, from hand of wicked) Wednesday (April 5): The Sanhedrin Plot to Kill Jesus Psalm 70 (1: Hasten, O God, to save me; come quickly, LORD, to help me.) Maundy Thursday (April 6): Jesus Participates in Passover w/ DisciplesPsalm 116:1-2, 12-19 (13-15: I will lift up the cup of salvation and call on the name of the LORD. I will fulfill my vows to the LORD in the presence of all His people. Precious in the sight of the LORD is the death of His faithful servants.) Good Friday (April 7): Jesus Dies on the Cross for the Life of the WorldPsalm 22 (1, 16-19, 24: My God, my God, why have You forsaken me? ... They pierce my hands and my feet. All my bones are on display; people stare and gloat over me. They divide my clothes among them and cast lots for my garment. But You, LORD, do not be far from me ... For He has not despised or scorned the suffering of the afflicted one; He has not hidden His face from Him but has listened to His cry for help.) *Holy Saturday (April 8): Jesus Confront Hades & Harrows Hell As We WaitPsalm 31:1-4, 15-16 (1: In you, LORD, I have taken refuge; let me never be put to shame; deliver me in Your righteousness.

Every man has an invitation. And God provides the inspiration. But we can't leave without noticing that we also have a warning. As we break down Pslams 95, we'll see all three elements and how YOU can become a man of God who is the man of valor you desire to be. Psalms 95 1Oh come, let us sing to the LORD; let us make a joyful noise to the rock of our salvation! 2 Let us come into his presence with thanksgiving; let us make a joyful noise to him with songs of praise! 3 For the LORD is a great God, and a great King above all gods. 4 In his hand are the depths of the earth; the heights of the mountains are his, also. 5 The sea is his, for he made it, and his hands formed the dry land. 6 Oh come, let us worship and bow down; let us kneel before the LORD, our Maker! 7 For he is our God, and we are the people of his pasture, and the sheep of his hand. Today, if you hear his voice, 8 do not harden your hearts, as at Meribah, as on the day at Massah in the wilderness, 9 when your fathers put me to the test and put me to the proof, though they had seen my work. 10 For forty years, I loathed that generation and said, “They are a people who go astray in their heart, and they have not known my ways.” 11 Therefore I swore in my wrath, “They shall not enter my rest.”

Psalm 33 || Dubbed the "untitled Psalm", Pslams 33 uniquely integrates some of the most basic themes of Christian theology: creation, covenant, history, and humanity - and ultimately our response of worship. It's easy to look at the past and say that God's power was present then but what about now?

We all have different experiences with the Psalms; sometimes we read them and think, “huh?” You may love the depth of emotion and vulnerability, or maybe you avoid them altogether. So, what do we do with them? How do we read and understand 150 chapters compiled over 1,000 years? In this episode, our Spiritual Formation Pastors, Angela Ekstrum, Casey Shirley, and Blake Zimmerman, explain the structure and history of the Psalms, the practices of lament and gratitude, and teach us how to approach reading scripture meditatively so that we can ultimately understand more about God and ourselves.
