Prayer Call Complications & Celebrations 2 His Birth.mp3 by Sherman L. Young, Sr.

Oxford Bible Church - Living in the Last Days (audio)

Who were the Wise Men (Magi), and why did they expect the birth of the King of the Jews at that time, and why were they looking for His Star? What was the Star of Bethlehem - a comet, supernova, conjunction of planets, or a manifestation of God's Glory? If it was the Glory of God, what was its connection with the other manifestation of Glory at that time? How did the Magi know it was the Messiah's Star; what was so special about it? How did it fulfil Balaam's Prophecy in perfect detail in Numbers 24:17? Derek looks first at the manifestation of God's Glory to the Bethlehem Shepherds, when Jesus was born (Luke 2:8-18). They were special levitical Shepherds with a special role of looking after the Passover Lambs, destined to be sacrificed in the Temple, just 5 miles away. Likewise, Jesus was born to die for us as the sinless sacrificial Lamb of God, the ultimate Passover Lamb. By doing this, He become the Saviour of the world, for all who receive Him. So, it was appropriate for God to choose these Shepherds to witness the birth of His Passover Lamb, the One born to save us by His sacrificial death (1Cor 5:7). Then we look at Matthew 2: “Now after Jesus was born in Bethlehem of Judea in the days of Herod the king, behold, WISE MEN (Magi) from the East came to Jerusalem, saying: “Where is HE, who has been BORN King of the Jews? For we have seen HIS STAR in the East (literally: ‘in its RISING') and have come to worship Him” (v1-2). The Magi were kingmakers, who confirmed, anointed and endorsed any new king. So, when God's King was born, it was only right these believing Magi from the nations were chosen to honour this new-born King. Whereas the Jewish Shepherds proclaimed the coming of the SAVIOUR of the world, the Gentile Magi proclaimed He was also the true KING of the nations. So, Jesus is both Saviour and King. How did the Magi know to look for Messiah's Star to appear over Israel? When Daniel was exiled to Babylon, he was exalted to be chief over all the Magi of Babylon (Dan 2:48). He taught them the messianic prophecies including Numbers 24:17: “I see Him, but not now; I behold Him, but not near; a Star shall come out of Jacob; a Sceptre shall rise out of Israel”, and his prophecy of the 70 Weeks (Dan 9:24- 27), gives a 490-year Countdown to the Coming of the Jewish Messiah. A core of believing Magi, faithful disciples of Daniel, knew these prophecies, and so knew the timing for His Birth was drawing near, and so were on high alert, watching for the Sign of His Birth in the Heavens, a new STAR, corresponding to the description in Num 24:17. They saw His STAR arise on the same night as His Birth, heralding His arrival (Matt 2:7), and then it disappeared, until it reappeared 2-3 months later: “When they heard the king, they departed; and BEHOLD, the STAR which they had seen in its RISING (on the night of His Birth) WENT BEFORE THEM, until it came and STOOD OVER where the young CHILD was. When they saw the STAR, they rejoiced” (Matt 2:9-10). The Star of Bethlehem has no other explanation, but that it was a supernatural manifestation of God's Glory. So, there were 2 manifestations of God's GLORY at Christ's Birth: (1) The Jewish Shepherds saw His Glory and multitudes of angels, proclaiming His Birth as the Lamb of God, the SAVIOUR of the world, and (2) the Gentile Magi saw the rising of a new Star from Israel, proclaiming His Birth as the KING of the world. The manifestation of God's Glory and the angelic host to the Shepherds was the very same manifestation of His Glory that the Magi saw in Babylon (the Star of Bethlehem), signifying that the same Jesus is Lord over both Jew and Gentile, and that the dual offices of Saviour and King are held by the same Person, our Lord and Saviour, Jesus Christ. Both events must have happened at the same time, on the night of Christ's birth, as they both heralded His Birth. When God's Glory appeared to the Shepherds, near Jerusalem: “An angel of the Lord appeared to them, and the Glory of the Lord shone around them” (Luke 2:9), this would have appeared to the Magi, watching from Babylon, like a bright Sceptre arising out from Israel, in the dark western skies, as Num 24:17 predicted. Then after delivering their message, the multitude of angels, surrounded by glory, did not just disappear, but visibly ascended higher & higher into the sky (Luke 2:15). To the watching Magi, this would have appeared like a bright new Star arising up out of Israel, just as Balaam had predicted for Messiah's Star (Num 24:17). While all other stars move westwards in the sky, they saw His Star rising from Israel and going in the opposite direction, before disappearing. They realised this unique Star that they saw in its Rising had to be the prophesied Star announcing the Birth of the King of the Jews (Matt 2:2). Thus the 2 manifestations of God's Glory at Christ's Birth were actually the same manifestation of His Glory, seen from 2 different viewpoints.

I'm convinced that there are 2 types of people. Those who plan and organize and those who (on a whim) go & do. And they're married to each other. There's something to be said for those who are prepared. Preparation means that they're ready no matter what may happen. Jesus' instruction to His followers is that they are to always be prepared. In fact, over 55 places in Scripture, we are told to be ready/prepared. Here in this passage alone – 5 different illustrations are given to show us the importance of being ready. The message of the Bible isn't just about His Birth, Death and Resurrection. It's also about how we're to live between the time He ascended into Heaven and when He'll Return. We may not know the specific time but we're promised that He's coming back and this world as we know it will be no more. We're promised something better. But are we ready for it?  If you value God & His Kingdom, you will

This week's Advent topic is on the peace Our Lord brought into the world at His Birth. The fourth week of Advent is now upon us. As we light the fourth candle, or sometimes called the Angels' Candle, of the Advent wreath in our homes and churches, we reflect on and echo the words of the heavenly host proclaiming the birth of Jesus: “Glory to God in the highest and on earth peace to those on whom his favor rests.” We must choose to accept His peace. We can do this by striving to become a person with “whom his favor rests.” Peace is a grace readily available to those who are in communion with God through the sacraments and those that make peace in their earthly relationships. As Jesus taught in The Sermon on the Mount: “Blessed are the peacemakers, for they will be called children of God.” Into this world came the Prince of Peace. Into this world came Love incarnate. Into this world...came the only Son of God. With only His words He commands storms to be at peace by saying “Quiet! Be still.” May He also speak such words of peace into our weary souls so that we, too, can be at peace and in communion with Him. -------- Are you looking to "deck the halls" this Advent season in preparation of our Savior's birth? Born in Breslau, Germany, murdered in the Nazi death camp of Auschwitz, Poland, Edith Stein dedicated her life to a pursuit of truth leading from her roots in Judaism, via adolescent agnosticism to the study of philosophy, to Catholicism and ultimately to life as a Carmelite. She served God with prayer, scholarship and dedication to her fellow human beings, created in God's image. In 1933, while others kept silent, she sought help from the Vatican for her beleaguered Jewish community, an Esther who pleaded for her people. In her writings she probed the meaning of suffering and reached for closeness to God. She endured the indignities inflicted by her Nazi persecutors sustained by prayer and caring for the children around her. With her older sister Rosa, she died in the gas chambers of Auschwitz. Edith Stein was beatified and declared a saint by Pope John Paul II.” Text by Susanne M. Batzdorff  (Poet and Writer; niece of Edith Stein) “Those who join the Carmelite Order are not lost to their near and dear ones, but have been won for them, because it is our vocation to intercede to God for everyone….I keep thinking of Queen Esther who was taken away from her people precisely because God wanted her to plead with the king on behalf of her nation. I am a very poor and powerless little Esther, but the King who has chosen me is infinitely great and merciful. This is great comfort.” (Edith Stein on Carmelite vocation, 1938). After being transferred to Dutch Carmelite convent from Cologne because of severe persecusion of Jews in Nazi Germany, she wrote in her will these words:  “Even now I accept the death that God has prepared for me in complete submission and with joy as being his most holy will for me. I ask the Lord to accept my life and my death … so that the Lord will be accepted by His people and that His Kingdom may come in glory, for the salvation of Germany and the peace of the world.”“ A brilliant philosopher who stopped believing in God when she was 14, Edith Stein was so captivated by reading the autobiography of Teresa of Avila that she began a spiritual journey that led to her Baptism in 1922. Twelve years later she imitated Teresa by becoming a Carmelite, taking the name Teresa Benedicta of the Cross. Born into a prominent Jewish family in Wroclaw (Poland), Edith abandoned Judaism in her teens. As a student at the University of Göttingen, she became fascinated by phenomenology, an approach to philosophy. Excelling as a protégé of Edmund Husserl, one of the leading phenomenologists, Edith earned a doctorate in philosophy in 1916. She continued as a university teacher until 1922 when she moved to a Dominican school in Speyer; her appointment as lecturer at the Educational Institute of Munich ended under pressure from the Nazis. After living in the Cologne Carmel (1934-38), she was moved to the Carmelite monastery in Echt, Netherlands.  In Echt, Edith Stein completed her study of “The Church's Teacher of Mysticism and the Father of the Carmelites, John of the Cross, on the Occasion of the 400th Anniversary of His Birth, 1542-1942.” In 1941 she wrote to a friend, who was also a member of her order: “One can only gain a scientia crucis (knowledge of the cross) if one has thoroughly experienced the cross. I have been convinced of this from the first moment onwards and have said with all my heart: ‘Ave, Crux, Spes unica' (I welcome you, Cross, our only hope).” Her study on St. John of the Cross is entitled: “Kreuzeswissenschaft” (The Science of the Cross). In retaliation for being denounced by the Dutch bishops, the Nazis arrested all Dutch Jews who had become Christians. Teresa Benedicta was arrested by the Gestapo on 2 August 1942, while she was praying in the convent's chapel with the other sisters. She was to report within five minutes, together with her sister Rosa, who had also converted and was serving at the Echt Convent. Her last words to be heard in Echt were addressed to Rosa: “Come, we are going for our people.”

The life of Jesus of Nazareth did not unfold before the eyes of God, it was all of it- always present before Him, His Birth, Passion and Glorious Resurrection the whole life fully present, His glory was present in his birth and in his death, there was no uncertainty about how things would end up. Your life too- for all the doubt, uncertainty and vacillation, for all the weariness and wandering- your life, your whole life past present and future is all present before the face of God, God knows you in this way, even the you - you do not yet know is present before His face.

Hello, and welcome to HSPCOR podcast. I vowed to meet with you regularly and I am back! First, I want to wish everyone a very blessed and joyous CHRIST-MASS as we celebrate our #Risen Savior. I pray that we are all mindful that it is the Season of His Birth that we are celebrating and not the season of gift giving that we are celebrating. Sharing love is always wonderful But let us celebrate the one responsible for the gift that we're able to give. That being said, I have another wonderful event to share with you. It is a work that is dear to my heart. I believe that my ability becomes my responsibility and I feel responsible to to minister to those that are disfortunate, (homeless and jobless). And as a result of my desire to be a blessing to God's people, we will be FEEDING THE NEEDY IN MACOMB COUNTY!!!! On 14 January 2020 @ the old VFW hall on Gratiot Ave in Roseville Michigan from 6:30AM until 1:30PM. I want to take this time to invite you to participate in any manner that you feel led. Monetary and slightly worn warm clothing items are welcomed. As well as in person hands on at the site. If you feel led and would desire to be a part of whst we are doing, reach out to me on Facebook or YouTube. Or via Spreaker. We would love to welcome you as a part of our team. As we remember #love is an ACT! That is defined by a 4 letter word. Love is what is what live DOES. Not what live says. God blessings be upon you all as we all embrace the upcoming DECADE with joy and charity. Pastor seems

Hello and welcome to the Baha’i Blogcast with me your host, Rainn Wilson. In this series of podcasts I interview members of the Baha’i Faith and friends from all over the world about their hearts, and minds, and souls, their spiritual journeys, what they’re interested in, and what makes them tick. In our 40th episode of the Baha'i Blogcast, we thought we'd do something a little different by sharing an audio version of an animation called 'An Introduction to the Baha'i Faith'. I worked on this animation with Baha'i Blog and our friends at BahaiTeachings.org and SwissVBS, and we published it about a month ago – just in time for the 200th anniversary of the Birth of the Bab celebrations happening around the world. It's been really well received with over a million views so far, and seeing as so many of us are consuming content in audio format nowadays, we thought it would be useful to create an audio version for the Baha'i Blogcast with a little personal commentary from yours truly, at the beginning and at the end. I hope you find this episode both interesting and useful! Watch the animation, and check out other related links below: *Here's the animation: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zLSaDVG4yBE * Here's a link to the article I wrote explaining the project and the thought process behind the script: https://bit.ly/2LYFvmm * And here's Naysan Naraqi's article about some of the behind-the-scenes as well: https://bit.ly/35pVqSf *Find out more about SwissVBS here: https://swissvbs.com/ * Find out more about the Bab and the bicentenary celebrations of His Birth happening around the world here: https://bicentenary.bahai.org/the-bab/ Be sure to subscribe to the Baha’i Blogcast for more episodes on: * YouTube: bit.ly/2JTNmBO * iTunes: apple.co/2leHPHL * Soundcloud: @bahaiblogcast * Spotify: spoti.fi/2IXRAnb If you would like to find out more about the Baha'i Faith visit BAHAI.ORG, and for more great Baha'i-inspired content check out BAHAIBLOG.NET: bahaiblog.net/ Thanks for listening! -Rainn Wilson

INTENTIONAL with DrFaye

The word Christmas was created from two words Christ and Mass. A mass was held to commemorate the birth of the Lord Jesus Christ. The First Christmas begins long before there was a Mass. The first light was a star, the first gifts were Gold, Frankincense and Myrrh delivered by Men form the East who had come to Worship Him. The Story of His Birth are placed in the hands of two of his famed Disciples, Matthew and Luke. Luke speaks of Shepherds, the Manger and the Angelic Choir. Matthew speaks of men from the East, the death threat over the child's life and Herod. Both accounts are wonderful reads and are more than likely written at different times as history dictates. The Men from the East visited Him in a house. The Shepherds visited him in a stable. What they both knew is that Jesus was born of Mary a young virgin who was betrothed to a man name Joseph. God sent Angels to inform them of His plan and prepared them to be the earthly parents to watch over the boy Jesus as He grew to become the Man Christ Jesus. Christmas is the only time of the year where the world becomes a Global Village, a Community of lights. People from all over the world find time to celebrate this season in their own way. As you gather with your friends and family, remember the BIG picture of the grace of God sending Jesus that you might have access to all that He is now in this lifetime.
