Acts 20:1-12 We are the fortunate ones, though his name may mean luck or fortunate Eutychus is not the point of the story. He is the disturbance that distracts us from what is most important. What is distracting you from what is most important in your walk with Jesus?
Acts 18:24-19:10 - Its really easy to be critical of people, and even easier to simply "cancel" them when compared to the patient, loving, and gracious approach that Jesus requires. Our intent should be to walk with others as they grow, all the while encouraging them and speaking the truth in love.

Acts 13:13-52, Of all the things in life that have been put on hold lately, God is not on hold, He is sovereignly working behind the scenes. The Good News we talk so much about is the prime example as God is shown to have been sovereign over every part of it, it really is His Good News!
Acts 10:1-48: God shows no partiality therefore the good news of the kingdom is for everyone who believes

Acts 3:1-4:4 The visible kingdom demands a Jesus explanation that leads to repentance and repercussions
Acts 2:42-47 Luke outlines for us the 4 things that the first church devoted themselves to. The Apostles teaching, the one another, to the breaking fo bread, and prayer. Today we begin a new series through the book of Acts entitled Thy Kingdom Come. Jesus spends the majority of his time on earth both before and after his death burial and resurrection teaching his disciples about the good news of God's coming Kingdom. What would it look like for His kingdom to come on earth as it is in heaven? What impact would that have on your life and the world around us? The book of Acts is about what Jesus continues to do even today as His kingdom reaches the ends of the earth.
In a world of uncertainty and disintegrating trust wouldn't it be great if there were someone or something that we could put our confidence in? The Good News is that we can be fully assured of all of God's will. Following Jesus is a journey and Paul highlights for us 3 things we can be sure of on that Journey. Greater is a series through the book of Colossians. Written by Paul to the church in Colasse encouraging them and us to have a greater vision of Jesus, to behold his absolute supremacy and allow that to permeate and transform our lives.
What now? It's a good question to ask once you have experienced the transforming power of the ruler of the universe! It's a good question to ask everyday as you seek to follow Jesus. The truth is God did not save us for our own benefit but his good purposes and pleasure! Paul directs the church to focus their attention outward, to Devote themselves to prayer rather than simply Default to prayer, to call on God to make His good news known and spread. Paul also calls us to Proclaim that message with grace, creativity, and urgency, the world is waiting to hear the message of the King. Greater is a series through the book of Colossians. Slavery is not something that is widely accepted anymore and for good reason. But when it comes to circumstances and situations in which Jesus has not released us we are faced with the question, how do we respond. The Gospel reforms our perspective and transforms our motivation. Whether our situation is favourable or not, our aim because of the Gospel should be to glorify Jesus. Greater is a series through the book of Colossians. Children obey your parents! Wow what a thought, but in a world that encourages a person to venture off on their own and do things their way that isn't easy. Fathers do not provoke your children? Raising children to know and love Jesus is not always easy either. But with a reformed heart, a new self, and the power of the Spirit we can follow the examples God has set for us. If Jesus is the example of obedience in all things then the Father is the example of loving discipline. Greater is a series through the book of Colossians. Written by Paul to the church in Colasse encouraging them and us to have a greater vision of Jesus, to behold his absolute supremacy and allow that to permeate and transform our lives.
Giving up our own desires for the sake of others is not easy, especially when you are married. Every relationship is broken before it even begins and is susceptible to the fallen nature of our world. But the good news of the Gospel is that through the Spirit and the new self he is giving us we can overcome ourselves and truly lay our lives down for our spouse. We can experience the completeness and wonder of true love! Greater is a series through the book of Colossians. Written by Paul to the church in Colasse encouraging them and us to have a greater vision of Jesus, to behold his absolute supremacy and allow that to permeate and transform our lives.
Mental Health matter to us all, we need to care for the vitality and well being of our minds just as much as our bodies and our souls. We need a holistic approach and that takes help. We need each other. This series aims to help alleviate the stigma of mental health and mental illness and bring the good news of the gospel to bare on our mental health. So how do we respond, with hope. Empathy opens the door for hope to enter, empathy is our presence with people in the darkness, in their pain and hope is the soft glow of our candle in the night. Brene Brown offers a very clear definition of empathy, we tried showing this in our gathering but unfortunately had some technical difficulties. (You will notice a gap near the beginning where we tried to show the video). Even in the darkest moments of life the hope have in Jesus is the light in the darkness.

We need each other. This series aims to help alleviate the stigma of mental health and mental illness and bring the good news of the gospel to bare on our mental health. Feelings of unresolved guilt can be detrimental to our physical, mental, and spiritual health so how do we deal with them? In this message we explore two types of guilt, true guilt which requires repentance, and false guilt which requires healing. The good news is that when we acknowledge our struggles we can disarm the condemning voices and be free of feelings of guilt.

Shame is the negative emotions and feelings about who we are as people. Often times we feel as though our mental illness or lack there of is what determines our value as a person, but we are not our illness. We are made in the image of God and our value is measureless! Shame is fuelled by fear of all sorts and it isolates us and holds us captive. But the good news is the gospel strips shame of all its power, so we don't have to be alone.

It really is the most wonderful time of the year! Join us Sundays this December as we revel in the wonder of Christmas! The way we celebrate things like Christmas says a lot about what we believe. The feasts that God gave to Israel were important because they reminded them of what God had done and pointed them toward what He would do. Every party, feast, and celebration, every meal for that matter, are all shadows of a greater celebration. Christmas, with all its trimmings and traditions, reminds us of all that God has done for us and proclaims His glory to a watching world.

Growth is largely determined by what nourishes our soul. Each every day we are confronted with a choice between rooting ourselves in Jesus or relying on the world around us. Suffering is one thing in life we all face and one thing we aren't very good at. Sometimes the suffering we face is for unfair reasons and other times its because of something more noble. But when it comes to following Jesus and the suffering that comes with it we can rest assured that it gives us a reason for hope. Greater is a series through the book of Colossians. Written by Paul to the church in Colasse encouraging them and us to have a greater vision of Jesus, to behold his absolute supremacy and allow that to permeate and transform our lives.
If Jesus really is Lord over everything, and if Jesus really holds all of creation together then regardless where we stand we continually rely on him whether we know it or not. What we believe is inconsequential to who Jesus is. But knowing that he is Lord of everything can be a source of great hope even if we don't fully understand or comprehend how. What does it mean to live a life worthy of the Lord? It might not mean what you think, in fact if Jesus has already accomplished our freedom living a life that pleases him would look a lot like enjoying the freedom he has gifted us with instead of drudging through life, it might actually be the more abundant life. Greater is a series through the book of Colossians. Written by Paul to the church in Colasse encouraging them and us to have a greater vision of Jesus, to behold his absolute supremacy and allow that to permeate and transform our lives.

A good news that spreads across the world and gives hope that inspires faith in Jesus and love for others. The gospel of Jesus is Greater Good News! Greater is a series through the book of Colossians. Written by Paul to the church in Colasse encouraging them and us to have a greater vision of Jesus, to behold his absolute supremacy and allow that to permeate and transform our lives.
Paul said that when a person puts their trust in Jesus and chooses to follow Him they become a new creation! The journey of discipleship is one of daily learning what it means to be a new creation in Jesus. When we are baptized our new name/identity is spoken over us, Father, Son, Spirit. This new name really helps to define who we now are becoming as a disciple of Jesus. This week we talk about how the same Holy Spirit that empowered and sent Jesus empowers and sends us to proclaim the good news to the powerless. Therefore we are missionaries. This four part series takes a look under the hood and explains what Sojourn Church is all about and where we are heading. Hope you'll join us for the journey!
