Paul Meenan and I discuss the Public Draft of BS 7671 Amendment 2 and the comments that we feel we will make.
In this episode we discuss the upcoming deadline for commenting on the draft for BS 7671:2018 amendment 2 which is this coming Friday 11th December. We play a highlight discussion with the e5 guys discussing SPD selection in a Q&A with Professional Electrician magazine. What changes has Covid made to electrical training and are the changes going to stay. We briefly introduce the Schneider Electric partner portal as a great CPD resource.
I'm joined by Paul Meenan, John Ward and Kirsty Johnson to talk about SPDs and some of the considerations we may have to make on EICRs. You can watch the vidoe here: https://youtu.be/oj7Y4wXTKHA
We get a lot of inquiries with regards to the 2396 design qualification and many people are failing the exam when they've gone to other training providers. So Phil and I wanted to discuss the qualification and go through the chief examiners reports to see what the common problems are.
This is a recording of a webinar given on 2nd April 2020. In this webinar, Phil and I discuss inspection and testing from both perspectives in the classroom and out in the sector. We take a lot of comments from the great chat amongst the attendees and discuss them. This is the audio recording from a webinar hosted last week where Phil Watts and I discuss the inspection and testing process, and the tests that are either not carried out and reported effectively or are just outright missing from the inspection and testing training and reporting, including the model forms in BS 7671. The webinars can be found at: https://sparkyninja.com/webinars Social: twitter: https://twitter.com/Sparky_Ninja instagram: https://www.instagram.com/sparky.ninja/ Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/SparkyNinja/
It's time I bring my first guest on to the podcast and there is no one better than my old man, Phil Watts. In this podcast we get to know a bit about how he joined the electrical industry and some of his opinions on the training sector. There will be more podcasts coming up with Phil including: BS 7909 Inspection and testing Part P Fire  - premature collapse, a station commanders perspective Sign up for interest with https://sparkyninja.com/ twitter: https://twitter.com/Sparky_Ninja instagram: https://www.instagram.com/sparky.ninja/ Faecbook: https://www.facebook.com/SparkyNinja/
When carrying out inspection and testing work it is easy to be persuaded into just carrying out the necessary tests required to fill in all those lovely little boxes on your certification modelled to BS 7671. However there are some tests which we should always be considering which are not given in the BS 7671 model, but are given in the BS 7909 model.. why is this and why is it so important that we always consider it? Well I had an example of this with a client just recently so thought now would be a good time to bring it up. It's been a couple of months break while I have enjoyed taking part with the e5 group on building up our podcast together, but it is time to put some work back into the SparkyNinja one. The e5 podcast will carry on, but there is so much to talk about from a training and development perspective and the SparkyNinja journey that both podcasts are going to be full of information. Be sure to catch the e5 podcast on all platforms as well.
#SparkyNinja #Free #Electricians #CPD When I went to a recent Elex I spoke with the people on the CONNEXBOX stall to talk about how they have innovated on methods for the newer small profile Wago devices to fit within their existing and upcoming WAGOBOX. In this video I briefly discuss the issue and show what CONNEXBOX have done to assit with this - this video is to raise awareness in case you are not aware of these inserts that CONNEXBOX provide, in which case you may risk non compliance with BS 7671. #SparkyNinja #Electricians #Free #CPD #18thEdition There has been some confusion and frustration with regards to testing Hager RCCB's after they chose t ocomply with BS EN 6008 with an alternative method of requirement to the norm - namely to 250mA test current. Electricians have been asking questions about how to test these devices and therefore Hager have announced a change to try to make the devices more suitable for the UK market.
