Stub Me Down Podcast is back for Season 7! SMD was the official podcast of Oktoberfest at The Vortex, a new venue in Catonsville, MD, and we kick things off with a really cool conversation with Ricky James and Rob Compa from Neighbor, a Boston band making a lot of noise in the jam scene! Skinny and JW chatted with Ricky and Rob about their complimentary playing style, creating setlists, and choosing covers. Their music is entertaining and they bring an upbeat vibe to the stage, and we were so grateful for a few minutes of their time! Check out Neighbortunes.com for their fall tour, and get yourself into the Neighborhood!
This episode of "Learning Can't Wait" features JW Marshall, Vice President of Marketing at Summit K-12 and a seasoned podcaster, who shares his journey from growing up in a learning-rich environment to becoming a passionate advocate for EdTech and multilingual learners. JW discusses the evolution of EdTech from its early days to the current competitive market, highlighting the importance of storytelling and authentic customer voices in marketing. He emphasizes the power of podcasts in building relationships, sharing impactful education stories, and advocating for student and teacher voices, especially in underrecognized areas like multilingual education. JW's heartfelt stories, including recognizing dedicated teachers and encouraging districts and students to start podcasts, underscore how storytelling can inspire change and build community in education.
In this episode, Ezzi details the intense familial and organizational pressure that led to her baptism at age 15, despite her not feeling ready or understanding the doctrine. A significant portion of the conversation addresses the abuse and dysfunctional family dynamics she endured, including physical abuse from her mother and the coercive environment within the organization that affected both her mother and herself. We closely examine the traumatic process of being disfellowshipped (shunned) and the detrimental effects this had on Ezzi's relationships and mental health, highlighting the narcissistic and controlling nature often present in JW culture and relationships. Ultimately, Ezzi discusses her deconstruction journey and the increased freedom, happiness, and healthy relationships she has found after leaving the faith. In this episode, we head to the Free State to meet Johannes Willem (JW) Dercksen, who has been farming alongside his father in Hertzogville for the past four years. After gaining international experience working in the United States, JW returned home with a clear vision: to achieve maximum yields on minimum hectares while staying true to his philosophy of “back to basics.”JW shares insights into their current farming system, producing maize, soybeans, and sunflowers, and explains why building and repairing their own implements on-farm saves both time and money. He talks candidly about the mistakes that shaped his journey, the lessons learned, and why he believes keeping up with modern practices is just as important as sticking to what works.

Climbing Jamaica’s Dunn’s River Falls is an exhilarating experience. Water cascades over the smooth rocks of the Falls on its way to the Caribbean. It’s a challenge as climbers battle the water’s flow to make their way to the top. For a teenager named JW, it’s a near impossibility. He’s sight-impaired, with only a pinhole view of the world. But JW was determined to climb, and his friend Josiah was willing to team up with Him. Josiah was JW’s eyes—telling him which slippery rocks to avoid and where to put his hands and feet. And JW was Josiah’s heart—showing him what courage looks like. So much of life is like that daunting climb: we shouldn’t walk alone. King Solomon points us to that truth. “Two people are better than one, for they can help each other succeed” (Ecclesiastes 4:9 nlt). Both Josiah and JW were attempting something special—and they could do it only in tandem. The passage continues: “If either [person] falls down, one can help the other up” (v. 10). But neither fell and neither failed. Together, they reached their goals. God’s design for people, presented clearly by Solomon and demonstrated vividly by these two teenagers, is that we work together. The tasks God calls us to do are best done with others—each using what skills and emotions God has given to bring an outcome that points to Him.

Welcome to the Inverted Orthodoxy Podcast! We're Blake, Kyle, and Doug the pastors from Living Springs, here to take you on a weekly adventure through the twists and turns of faith. Got questions? We've got answers, and sometimes more questions! Join us as we explore, celebrate, and embrace the beautiful complexities of belief. This weeks episode covered the following questions:(5:12 into episode) 1. Hey, I've been wondering about something. I've heard some evangelicals say folks should leave their church if the pastor doesn't talk about Charlie Kirk—but he isn't a church leader, and I've even seen him say things about faith that aren't in the Bible. Why is he being treated like a spiritual authority? And also—when Melissa Hortman and her husband Mark were killed at home, or when John Hoffman and his wife Yvette were shot in their home—why wasn't there the same level of outrage? It seems unequal somehow. Can someone help me understand what's going on here?(7:30 into episode) 2. Hi, I've been struggling in my walk as a Christian recently, especially after seeing so many believers mourning the loss of Charlie Kirk and calling others “bad Christians” if they aren't doing the same. I believe that any loss of life to violence is tragic, but I'm wrestling with how to reconcile people saying he embodied Jesus when some of his public statements seemed so contrary to Christ's teachings of love, humility, and grace. For example, he made remarks about race, women, and the LGBTQ community that felt judgmental and divisive. (ex. If I see a black pilot, im going to be like boy, I hope he's qualified) I want to approach this with compassion, but I feel torn and confused about how to respond when fellow Christians insist he was a model of faith. How can I navigate these conversations in a Christlike way, while also holding onto the truth of what Jesus actually taught?(29:39 into episode) 3. A question/AER on Jehovah Witness: Not sure if this is AER or a question. Maybe both? Might be a long one! In church this morning (September 28), Pastor Kyle continued preaching on the current sermon series in 1 Corinthians. We also corporately read the Nicene Creed. Both of which come up in conversation when I got home...As soon as I got home, a nervous young man with a handful of brochures approached my door and knocked. a few steps behind him, a grey-haired unflappable statue of a man stood looming with a bright smile painted on his face. "Doesn't world peace sound nice?" The young man asked. "It sure does!" I respond." I can't wait until Jesus, my Lord, my God, comes back to make all things right. Until then, I gladly partner with Jesus in the work he started as I live in the 'now and not yet' of his kingdom." Silence. The young man looks startled. The older man stepped forward. I continue... "I am a Christian. I know you are Jehovah witness. We can likely agree on a few select things, but our doctrinal differences and basic theological understandings are vastly different." The older man gets defensive. The young man looks awkward and keeps staring at me like i have three heads (Jehovah witness Trinity pun not intended). Okay... Almost to the question(s). Many Christians, (my family members included), shy away from answering that dreaded knock. They would rather hide behind the kitchen island or living room couch than talk to a Jehovah Witness. Why do you feel this is? Should Christians answer the door? I feel as though many Christians feel unprepared in their faith to answer or refute the kind of JW rhetoric that they will encounter. How does one prepare for their line of questioning or scriptural analysis? Some points along with scripture they used (They used the NWT translation, of course). How would you go about countering their "theology?"Only the New World Translation (NWT) is validClaim: Other Bibles are corrupted by Trinitarian bias.Claim: The NWT restores the true meaning.Trinity1. Only the Father is Almighty God (no Trinity)Deuteronomy 6:4 – “Jehovah our God is one Jehovah.”John 17:3 – Jesus calls the Father “the only true God.”6. The Trinity has pagan rootsClaim: Pagan religions had triads of gods (Egypt: Osiris, Isis, Horus; Hinduism: Brahma, Vishnu, Shiva).4. The Holy Spirit is not a person, but God's “active force”Genesis 1:2 – “God's active force was moving to and fro.” (NWT wording)Acts 2:1–4 – The Spirit is “poured out.”1 Corinthians 8:6 – “There is actually to us one God the Father… and one Lord, Jesus Christ.”Jesus' divinity2. Jesus is a created being (Michael the Archangel / first creation)Colossians 1:15 – “He is the firstborn of all creation.”Revelation 3:14 – “The beginning of the creation by God.”Jude 1:9 – Michael the archangel.1 Thessalonians 4:16 – “The voice of an archangel.”5. John 1:1 shows Jesus is “a god”John 1:1 (NWT) – “In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was a god.” (They tried using Greek grammar to prove a lowercase god as opposed to God uppercase).Claim: Trinity was adopted later by the church under Constantine (Council of Nicaea, 325 AD).3. Jesus is subordinate to the FatherJohn 14:28 – “The Father is greater than I.”1 Corinthians 11:3 – “The head of the Christ is God.”1 Corinthians 15:28 – “The Son himself will also subject himself.”8. Jesus could not be God because He diedRomans 6:9–10 – Christ died once for all.Claim: God cannot die, therefore Jesus is not God.9. Jesus prayed to the Father, so He cannot be GodMatthew 26:39 – “Not as I will, but as you will.”10. The cross is pagan; Jesus died on a stakeClaim: The word for Jesus' execution device means “stake” not “cross.”Claim: The cross symbol was introduced later from paganism. There were more points made, but I forget some of the things we talked about. I think they had a strong tie to Psalm 37 that they kept referencing? We jumped around a lot in the conversation.Do you have a question you've been wanting answered? It's Tuesday, September 30th, A.D. 2025. This is The Worldview in 5 Minutes heard on 140 radio stations and at www.TheWorldview.com. I'm Adam McManus. (Adam@TheWorldview.com) By Kevin Swanson India's new anti-conversion law leads to 9 harassment cases against Christians India's Northwestern state of Rajasthan issued their Prohibition of Unlawful Conversion of Religion Bill in the state assembly on September 9th. And now, International Christian Concern reports at least nine documented incidents of harassment and assault on Christians over the last three weeks. Atheist Bill Maher objects to Nigerian genocide against Christians Bill Maher, the well-known comedian and secular humanist commentator, took to his HBO show last Friday to complain about the lack of coverage about Christian persecution in Nigeria. MAHER: “If you don't know what's going on in Nigeria, you are in a bubble. And again, I'm not a Christian, but they are systematically killing the Christians in Nigeria. They've killed over 100,000 since 2009 they've burned 18,000 churches. These are Islamists, Boko Haram. “This is so much more of a genocide attempt than what is going on in Gaza. They are literally attempting to wipe out the Christian population of an entire country. Where are the kids protesting this?” (applause) GUEST: “No one will talk about it. So, thank you.” MAHER: “Absolutely!” Chinese Communists sentence Christian attorney 4 years in prison And, in China, the Communists sentenced a Christian attorney and defender of human rights to four years in prison for the charge of “picking quarrels and provoking trouble,” and “seriously damaging her country's image.” Zhang Zhan has already served four years for the crime of reporting from Wuhan on the COVID-19 pandemic back in February of 2020. Mormon president allowed sexually perverse to remain in good standing The President of the Mormon faith, based in Salt Lake City, Utah, went to meet his Maker, over the weekend. Russell Nelson was 101 years old. Under his watch, the Mormons changed their policies on homosexuality, allowing those living in sexually-perverted relationships and faux-marriages to remain members in good standing. The group also allowed for the Melchizedek blessing to be placed upon children adopted by homosexuals living together. Dr. Nelson is also credited with ridding them of the “Mormon” moniker, while building the internet URL: “churchofjesuschrist.org". Membership in Mormonism expanded from 4.5 million to 17.5 million members since Dr. Nelson joined the top-tier leadership in 1984. That's a 3-fold increase in 40 years. That's about the same growth rate as the Jehovah Witnesses, with the JW's about half the size of the Mormons. In the words of Jesus: “Every tree that does not bear good fruit is cut down and thrown into the fire. Therefore, by their fruits you will know them.” (Matthew 7:19) Ken Ham and Al Mohler honor Voddie Baucham's legacy Ken Ham, from Answers in Genesis, took to social media to say, he was “greatly saddened to hear the news that pastor and theologian Voddie Baucham had gone to be with the Lord.” Ken called Voddie “a powerful voice for truth. a pioneer in challenging men to stand for Christ in leading their families. … No other voice had the impact his did to encourage the current generation to home educate their children—that they would know Christ and make him known. “Voddie called men to lead in family worship daily in their homes. He was a pioneer in bringing young people back into the churches to sit together as a family and witness their dads worship the Lord.” Al Mohler, the president of Southern Baptist Theological Seminary, also offered a tribute to Voddie Baucham on The Briefing. Listen. MOHLER: “Voddie Baucham died having done what the Lord called him to do. We're thankful for the power of his ministry and the clarity of his convictions. And it is a reminder to us that we must work, as Jesus said to His disciples, while it is day. Night is coming when no man can work. We'll pray for Voddie Baucham's widow and the entire family.” Plus, Masters Seminary shared a memorial on Facebook stating that “Voddie was a courageous shepherd, a bold defender of the true Gospel, and a beloved friend.” Lord: “Teach us to number our days that we may get a heart of wisdom.” And, just to remind us all, that this was the year that Phil Robertson, Pastor John MacArthur, Dr. James Dobson, Voddie Baucham, and Charlie Kirk died. Let us remember Moses's words in Psalm 90:12 -- “Teach us to number our days that we may get a heart of wisdom.” Artificial Intelligence the one bright spot in the economy In economic news today, the second quarter Gross Domestic Product in the United States registered a 3.8% improvement. But that improvement, thus far this year, is attributed to Artificial Intelligence investment and tariffs. All other parts of the economy were down including personal consumption, business investment, housing, government and inventories. While the NASDAQ Index is up 5.7% for the month of September, investors are moving to gold and silver as a safe haven now. Gold is up 10%, silver is up 15%, and Bitcoin is up 2%. Majority of top movies are R-rated Six out of the top seven movies this weekend are R-rated movies — mostly in the horror genre. And five out of six of last weekend's top box office favorites were also R-rated movies. R-rated movies netted four times the G-rated movie totals in 2007. This year, that ratio has increased to 100 times the G-rated movie totals. Neanderthals were fully human And finally, evolutionists are surprised to have found relations between the Neanderthals and the Chinese ancient human group called the Denisovans. A recent report cites interbreeding, according to the genome sequence. Although at one time considered a link in human evolution, now scientists realize that the Neanderthals were fully human. For example, according to the Institute for Creation Research, they “made tools to make other complex tools, buried their dead, had controlled use of fire, practiced religious ceremonies, used complex syntax in their spoken grammar, and played musical instruments.” Close And that's The Worldview on this Tuesday, September 30th, in the year of our Lord 2025. What if I told you your front desk could be replaced—by someone halfway around the world, who does it better, faster, and never calls in sick? That's not just a bold claim. It's the new normal for hundreds of practices working with JW Oliver and his global team at ZimWorx and SupportDDS. In this episode, JW returns to the podcast to share the real story behind building a team of 1,600+ remote professionals serving over 3,000 dental offices—while giving 51% of company profits to global ministries. But this isn't just a tech or outsourcing episode. We dig into the ethical side of virtual assistants, how most U.S. doctors are underestimating what patients will accept, and why your labor challenges aren't going away unless you embrace smarter systems. And yes, we geek out about luxury watches and Rolex being a nonprofit (you'll love that part).QUOTES“There's always a cheaper way—but that doesn't mean it's a better way. In this special 2025 US Open recap, Andy Roddick and Jon Wertheim break down Carlos Alcaraz's incredible run in New York, including why his win over Jannik Sinner may be his most complete performance yet. They also dive into Sinner's response, what his next adjustments might look like, and how rivalries push both players to new heights. On the women's side, Aryna Sabalenka proves she's not just dominant but clutch, extending her insane tiebreak streak while solidifying her No. 1 ranking. Andy and Jon also react to the chaos surrounding the presidential visit, the state of American men's tennis, and offer gratitude for outgoing US Open director Stacy Allaster. Skinny and JW wrap up Season 6 of Stub Me Down, but some endings are beginnings! Episode 10 features the fellas getting to the bottom of their themes, including the big reveal from each and what drove their setlist selections. Then the BIG news hits, as JW and Skinny are joined by two guests who share information on an exciting festival coming to Maryland, including who the official festival podcast is going to be! As always, thank you for listening, and see you for Season 7 of Stub Me Down Podcast!
The lads take stock as Shelbourne and Shamrock Rovers are both tantalisingly close to group stage football after a quite incredible night on Thursday. Dan relays his trip to the Azores, where some locals were more interested in the staff in the chip van than whether the Rovers performance was different gravy to other LOI wins in Europe. The lads discuss that point but there is no debate around the emotional moment of the week. We're recording from JW's apartment for sale, but his last cup of tea in the old place is about as satisfying as the pitch in Drogheda, while he's alarmed at Galway's squad disintegrating in the off-season. Dan discusses the joys of a global transfer story, with the size of Victor Ozhianvuna's fee just one of the discussions arising from a crowded mailbag which includes something even more precious than the sweet taste of a jaffa cake - an actual quote from a referee! All of this and more is brought to you with our friends at Collar & Cuff, Sport Cosanta, Future Ticketing & Rascals Brewing

This week on the PicklePod: Zane Navratil and T-Dog (Erik Tice) break down the final MLP regular season event in Salt Lake City, where the Utah Black Diamonds shocked the league, Christian Alshon was mysteriously benched, and the Orlando Squeeze might've been playing 4D chess. Then, Nico “Nacho Libre” the Lefty returns to the pod to hand out the real MLP awards. Forget the MVPs — we're talking:

Jessica Morley, postdoctoral researcher at the Yale Digital Ethics Center joins Faces of Digital Health to discuss the overlooked aspects of AI, including biases, ethical issues, and common misconceptions. AI is not new, magical, or truly intelligent; its roots in healthcare trace back 30 years. While AI is often seen as infallible, it is merely statistical prediction and lacks semantic understanding, which excludes it from genuinely grasping human concepts like pain. Jessica remains skeptically optimistic about AI, noting its potential in scientific advancements and operational efficiency but doubting its transformative impact on diagnostics and patient care. The conversation also highlights the regulatory landscapes in Europe, the UK, and the US, each with varying approaches to AI regulation. Jessica emphasizes the unavoidable nature of bias in AI, advocating for more thoughtful adoption and regulation to ensure AI benefits everyone without deepening biases or relying excessively on surveillance. The discussion concludes with insights into ongoing research aimed at shifting focus from individual health optimization to maximizing population health. 00:00 Introduction to Digital Health and AI 02:21 Debunking Myths About AI 06:13 The Potential and Limitations of AI in Healthcare 11:10 Global Regulatory Landscape for AI in Healthcare 19:36 The Impact of AI on Personalized Medicine 34:41 Addressing Bias and Ethical Concerns in AI 38:39 Future Research and Conclusion www.facesofdigitalhealth.com Newsletter: https://fodh.substack.com/ Youtube: https://youtu.be/jW_p-w39wD8?si=Q34VZdDJPsmzOg44
