Happy New Years good people We made it to another year and I'm truly thankful for the blessing and lesson from 2018. I am sincerely grateful for all of you. Thank you for the feedback and continued support you are responsible for the growth of this show and more importantly my growth as well. Now I know we've been slacking on the content for the month of December but it's not without good reason. For 2019 we wanted to do things a little different. Since the inception of the awesome black Dads Show we have largely interviewed fathers for their authentic stories about their challenges and successes in fatherhood. Don't worry, we are not getting rid of that. However we are going to be adding more content that's geared toward inspiring Dads to execute on becoming the best version of themselves. So here's how we plan to do that: 1st. According to Henry Health a company whose goal is to make access to mental healthcare easy and convenient, removing all barriers to seeking treatment the 5 stressors for black men are: Money & finances Race & Racsim Jobs & career Health & Illness Relationships We have created themed months where our conversations will be rooted in specific topics connected but not limited to those 5 stressors. I fundamentally believe that our growth and development as better fathers is hidden in the discussions and stories based on these 5 things. In these conversations you will still get the raw stories but you will get more tips and tools that will help you become More awesome. 2nd. In an effort to engage more with you; I will begin each month with a solo opinion episode dealing with either current events, social issues, and topics relating to the theme months. After the release of the opinion episode I would like to give a listener the opportunity to be on the show to respond or debate my opinion or position. To be considered please send an email to info@awesomeblackdads.com with a short reaction to the opinion and why you agree or disagree. I will review each response and choose a listener to be on the show to have an awesome debate. Lastly, Because growth doesn't happen without action we are kicking off our monthly awesome challenges today. Join the challenges to become better Physically, Intellectually, Emotionally, and Spiritually. I hope to see all of you join us on the journey. Go to awesomeblackdads.com/challenge to learn more and join. I'm looking forward to an awesome 2019. If you haven't already follow us on Facebook and Instagram at awesome black dads we would also appreciate an iTunes review, it will not only help us get better but it helps us move up the charts. Thanks for listening and May your 2019 be better than what expect.
Today's guest is an ex-Jehovah Witness that is currently being shunned by his family of active Jehovah's Witnesses. Chris has spent the last ten years in a state of self-discovery and healing, which by the way he is adamant about how successful he has been in his ten-year journey. I met Chris at a roundtable gathering and after listening to his story I knew I had to have him on the show. Chris passionately spoke about how disfellowshipping from the Jehovahs Witness religion completely wrecked his life. Chris lost his wife, his children, his parents, and his friends. I could not imagine losing my loved ones because of a personal decision to go in a different religious and spiritual direction. We talk so much about how the system breaks up our households but we never talk about how some religious constructs have the potential to do just as much damage. Today Chris goes by Freedom's Witness on his youtube channel where he shares his stories and insights with others like him, with the hope that he helps others realize that there is a future and it can be a bright one. Without further ado, I introduce to you, Mr. Chris Hale.

Awesome Black Dads podcast was started with the intent to create content that is rich with context relating the experiences of Black Men and Fatherhood. Awesome Black Dads wants encourage, educate, empower, and entertain black fathers in a way that inspires us to be the best version of ourselves. Today's episode is a bit of a departure from what you have previously heard. Previously, you have heard insights from other Men about who they are, what they stand for, and why they are the Men and Fathers that they are today. Today I have decided to share a little about what I believe and how I am creating a time capsule of my ideas and beleifs for my sons in the future. I have started writing letters to my sons that are effectively lessons that I have learned during my journey in this life with the hopes that that they will always have a piece of my experiences to fall back on in moments when I am not there to help guide them. This letter is dedicated to purpose and how important it is to find the thing or things that you know you were put on this earth to contribute. I hope you find this letter as inspiring as I did when I started writing because "The Purpose of Life is a Life of Purpose".
