Often I'll ask patients, "Do you believe you can get better?" This simple question, and subsequent answer, tells me so much about how they perceive their condition. This is more than "positive thinking." Instead, I'm referring to a central core belief about what's possible for them. Without belief, the mind-body connection feeds off the anxiety. So we have to learn how to reframe anxiety and stress so that we can believe healing is possible. In this episode, I explain the term "eustress," which is useful form of stress and how it can increase our belief in healing from GI and autoimmune conditions. BTW: I've added a new FREE offer at drskyler.net upon sign up that provides my safety-based protocol called "The 8 Mind-Body Methods to End Anxiety, GI and Autoimmune Conditions."

Modern Alchemy with James Arthur Ray and Bersabeh Ray

Stress appears to be a major problem in today's world, yet stress is not really the enemy, the enemy is lack of recovery. Dr. Hans Selye conducted extensive research on the concept of stress and found there are two types of stress: there's distress—what we typically think of when we think of stress; and yet there's another type of stress called eustress. Eustress is not exhausting, it's invigorating. Eustress is the “creative tension” between where you currently reside, and the gap that exists between the point where you are, and the point of where we choose to go...

The 4-Hour Workweek: Escape 9-5, Live Anywhere, and Join the New Rich   Here are some key takeaways from "The 4-Hour Work Week" by Tim Ferriss ¹:   - The New Rich (NR) are individuals who abandon the deferred-life plan and create luxury lifestyles using time and mobility. - To become a NR, one must replace assumptions and free time and location, as money is multiplied in practical value depending on the number of W's you control in your life. - Focus on being productive instead of just busy. - Eustress is the stimulus for growth, so be equally aggressive in removing distress and finding eustress. - The best first step is finding someone who's done it and asking for advice on how to do the same.     Here are 10 lessons from "The 4-Hour Work Week" by Tim Ferriss: These lessons aim to help you create a lifestyle of freedom, wealth, and adventure, rather than just following the traditional 9-to-5 routine.     1. Challenge conventional wisdom and question assumptions about work and retirement.   2. Focus on income automation and outsourcing tasks to achieve financial freedom.   3. Eliminate the things that take up your time but don't contribute to your income (Economic Liberation).   4. Create a "muse" business that generates income without requiring your direct involvement.   5. Use the 80/20 rule to identify and focus on high-impact activities (Pareto's Law).   6. Develop a lifestyle of wealth and freedom, rather than just accumulating wealth.   7. Use the concept of "mini-retirements" to take breaks and recharge throughout your life.   8. Focus on creating a "mobile income" that can be earned from anywhere in the world.   9. Learn to eliminate distractions and minimize time-wasting activities (e.g., email, meetings).   10. Develop a mindset of experimentation and continuous learning to achieve your goals. --- Send in a voice message: https://podcasters.spotify.com/pod/show/michael-kaagee-mante/message Support this podcast: https://podcasters.spotify.com/pod/show/michael-kaagee-mante/support

Well, I'm here to bring some peace and joy to this topic.  The majority of times when people refer to the word “stress”, they only have a negative connotation of what stress is. And there is truth in that aspect, for sure.  However, there's another perspective to what stress is and what it does, and how it can actually be a good thing. In this TAO-Living episode, we explore: Eustress (good stress) vs distress (bad stress) How overcoming challenges, putting your body to the test, and learning something new are all “stressing” your body and mind - yet it's good for you! The distinctions between “accumulative constructive survival values” and “accumulative destructive survival values” The tool of self-assessment and scanning your day to see if your activities, location, interactions, etc. are building you up or breaking you down How to Manage Your Environment and utilize Conscious Languaging to modify your perspective on stress in your life Mindfulness, thriving, and much more! If you only conceive of stress from a negative connotation, you're missing a powerful productive ally in your life.  Learning, growing, working out, overcoming challenges - all of these things are productive “eustress” that help you stay healthy and move forward in your life! ARCHITECTING Podcast - Career + Lifestyle Mentoring for Architects looking to move beyond overwhelm and make a difference thr

As a high performance person, you'd get bored reeaaaalll fast of a completely stress free life. Learn more about eustress, the kind that keeps you curious and motivated. I also share how to spot when distress starts creeping on your happyland and how it fools you into a downward spiral that makes you susceptible to burnout. To learn more, go to architectingpodcast.com and sign up for my free Stressless Success workskpop. Eustress is good stress. It keeps us motivated and focused- that hit of adrenaline that makes us excited. When external burnout conditions are present like work overload, lack of support and too many meaningless tasks, we can slip into distress and rely on our addiction to stress hormones to push through. Distress creates a physical response in the body that is harmful to our physical and mental health unless we have a physical response soon after it is activated. When distress is chronic, it harms our well being and leads to burnout. As we deal with this overtime, we become "wired and tired," and unable to relax and rest. Signs of burnout show up in the body as becoming overly controlling impatient and irritable, brain fog, extreme fatigue, resorting to "comfort habits" to numb out or stimulate ourselves, losing motivation. To reset, you need to identify the root cause, implement boundaries, and reconnection to self with salutogenic activities. Did you know a whopping 75% of adults experience moderate to high levels of stress on a monthly basis? We often overlook the impact of stress on our well-being, and fail to acknowledge how ongoing stress disrupts everything from digestion to decision-making. In this episode, Whitney dives into the topic of stress and how it affects our lives.   Whitney explores the two categories of stress: eustress and distress. Eustress is the good kind of stress that makes us feel challenged and motivated. It could be competing in sports, taking on meaningful projects or stepping out of our comfort zones for personal growth. On the other hand, distress, such as long-term stress, harms our health when left unchecked.   Help spread the word! Stress Management is a hot topic these days. We still talk about training in this episode, but we're focused more on the impact of training and less on a specific type of training. Eustress is defined as positive form of stress having a beneficial effect on health, motivation, performance, and emotional well-being. Strength Training is typically eustress. When you're training in a way that's working well for you it will result in a positive adaptation. We dive more into how this works and also go over the following: What about negative stress? How does negative stress impact your training? What action can you take to decrease negative stress? Is exercise the answer or could it be part of the issue?  Trying to figure out how to manage your stress can be a slippery slope. Sometimes you're trying to find ways to chill out, but end up adding so many de-stressing techniques (including exercise) that you add more to your overburdened schedule. Hopefully you'll find some wise advice in this episode to help you improve the way you look at stress management. Welcome to season 3 of the MED podcast with Mike Perry and co-host, Brett Jones.
