Hello listeners! This week's episode is a little different.  We hope to give back to our community and provide value for our listeners.  It is always a blast exploring other people's movement journeys, but today's episode looks at impacting you directly through a movement exercise.  I'm going to recite a movement exploration exercise from one of my favorite books, Making Connections, by Peggy Hackney.   I discovered this book during University in a course on  Bartineff Fundamentals. Bartineff Fundamentals is a mind-body technique that guides Guides the Mover to directly experience what is truly fundamental in human movement and how movement development influences an individual's perceptions and abilities to interact in the world.  This experiential approach to movement fundamentals involves patterning Connections in the body according to principles of efficient movement that encourage personal expression and full psychophysical involvement.   This exercise is an introduction to the most fundamental pattern, breath.

This episode is a brief introduction to stretching and why it is important.     Some things to keep in the back of the mind: 1.It took you a long time to get to the body you are in, so remain patient and consistent with your stretching/ fitness. 2.Listen to your body when you start stretching - our bodies are constantly communicating with us.  Your body will tell you what needs stretching 3.The best way to start listening is to connect to your breathing. Breath is the most fundamental connection we have with our body Focus on inhaling in through the nose and out through the nose (when you need more breath focus on exhaling through the mouth )   You can reach out to Maillard  @mnhowbeta or John @jfkbeta on Instagram.  Or visit us at https://www.thebetaway.net/

This week's episode is part 1 with artist and director Lubomir Arsov.  Lubomir is the writer, director, and producer of In-Shadow- A Modern Odyssey.  In Shadow is an animated film that dares to embark on a visionary journey through the fragmented unconscious of the west.   Before you go on to listen to the conversation, please view the film to get a more detailed picture of what we discuss.  The run time is brief at around 13 minutes, yet it leaves the viewer with a sense of courage to face the Shadow. The link is https://www.inshadow.net/ or for youtube, https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=j800SVeiS5I .  The subject matter in the film is intense and I would suggest watching it when you have the emotional bandwidth in your day. I would like to redirect you to Lubomir's website, https://www.inshadow.net/ , for more information about the film as well as ways of supporting the art.  I personally bought some artwork that I'm excited to receive in the mail.
