éli del (Ariane Gagné) aims to dive into crude, visceral and enlightening experiences to come back and share what they have found in the abyss. Their practice makes use of calligraphy, diagrams, drawings, songs and tattoos, tools which allow them to connect to their epigenetic legacy of trauma, poverty, mental health and addiction problems, while invoking an inspiring heritage of witchcraft, visions and spirituality. This process leads to pictorial objects that form an erratic cartography inspired by Chaos Magick, psycho-pop literature and ecofeminist practices. Like molts that result from moments of healing, evolution or involution, their works integrate poetic messages – a sibylline prose that is blurred by sharp and sinuous scribbles and abstruse symbols. This textual aspect of their work is made to be sung, deciphered, or left to interpretation, taking the form of motivational phrases and enigmatic advice that serve as an invitation to regeneration, fluidity and ruin. Graduate of UQAM's Visual and Media Arts program (2019), they live between europe and Tio'Tia:Ke (Montreal), where their work has been shown in exhibitions, festivals and various public and private spaces such as Projet Casa, Art souterrain and Espace Maurice. #146: Linley Dixon, co-director of the Real Organic Project, speaks to the progress of our movement and the challenges we face, including new and misleading terms like "climate smart agriculture" and a misunderstood villainization of tillage. Linley was the lead-off speaker at our recent in-person event at Abby Rockefeller's Churchtown Dairy in Hudson NY, in mid-October.Dr. Linley Dixon is the co-director of the Real Organic Project and the owner-operator of Adobe House Farm in Durango, Colorado. She has a Master's Degree in Plant and Soil Science, specializing in Organic Agriculture,  and also earned a PhD in Plant Pathology from the University of West Virginia, specializing in tomato diseases. Linley has worked as a scientist for both The Cornucopia Institute and at the USDA. Our add-on food label distinguishes soil-grown fruits and vegetables from hydroponically-raised produce, and pasture-raised meat, milk, and eggs from products harvested from animals in horrific confinement (CAFOs - confined animal feeding operations). To find a Real Organic farm near you, please visit:https://www.realorganicproject.org/farmsWe believe that the organic standards, with their focus on soil health, biodiversity, and animal welfare were written as they should be, but that the current lack of enforcement of those standards is jeopardizing the ability for small farms who adhere to the law to stay in business. The lack of enforcement is also jeopardizing the overall health of the customers who support the organic movement; customers who are not getting what they pay for at market but still paying a premium price. And the lack of enforcement is jeopardizing the very cycles (water, air, nutrients) that Earth relies upon to provide us all with a place to live, by pushing extractive, chemical agriculture to the forefront. If you like what you hear and are feeling inspired, we would love for you to join our movement by becoming one of our 1,000  Real Friends:https://www.realorganicproject.org/real-organic-friends/To read our weekly newsletter (which might just be the most forwarded newsletter on the internet!) and get firsthand news about what's happening with organic food, farming and policy, please subscribe here:https://www.realorganicproject.org/email/

Inside the Episode with Mitch Hampton “From South to North: A conversation on visual art, Geography and personal biography with Danielle Norris” Danielle Norris is an artist who I knew very well when I was living in Boston. She had been working, among other gigs, as a waitress in one of the oldest and more famous of spots in Cambridge  . You can see that she did the artwork for Tyler Bejoinas' album on which I played keyboards. But even as I knew her personally, there were many things I did not know about her art until much later and this opened a whole world in much the same way as her artwork is unafraid to open up a world. The word that Danielle first used when describing her artwork was “realism”. And notably and uniquely, her work is unafraid to use representations of culture and real life, many times quite popular ones. Her work comes out of her own experience as well as the images and symbols of pop culture and photography. I really enjoyed this conversation and learned a lot from it. I hope you enjoy listening to it as much we enjoyed doing it and hope you engage with her artwork and more info in the links provided here.” Danielle’s Bio Danielle Norris is a painter working to explore the framework of conceptual photo realism. Originally from the mountains of western NC , she studied art at the Museum of Fine Arts in Boston , graduating in 2014. Since then she has moved to Upstate NY where her multidisciplinary practice has turned primarily to painting. She was accepted into the Yale Norfolk painting residency in 2013 , and has shown work in Boston , New York City, and Hudson NY. She also currently works as a painting assistant to the artist Jeffrey Gibson.
