Guiding the aging process is a long-term project and I'm celebrating 11 years since I started to reverse engineer my biological age. In this episode, I break down my Functional Nutrition framework and tracking tool that will help you understand your baseline and get really clear on how you can improve your longevity strategy. In order to feel younger while growing older, you need to know what's happening inside your body and be aware of how external exposures make an impact internally. One of the simplest ways to do that in the comfort of your own home is by tracking your food, mood, and elimination via urine and bowel movements. I share tools to help you know what to look out for, like Vivoo and the Bristol Stool Scale. I also encourage all of my clients to examine their sleep quality, stress management, glucose levels, and energy levels after they exercise. There are so many effective treatments and modalities out there that can support you, but your central nervous system will override all of your efforts on an unconscious level if you don't do the emotional work first. If you haven't already, listen to Episode 8 - Making Peace with Your Past and use that as a launching point.  Listen in to learn more about my healing journey and methodologies that have helped guide the way. If you are enjoying these conversations, please subscribe and spread the love by leaving a review and sharing it with your friends.Listen to the episode on Apple Podcasts, Spotify, Google Podcasts, Stitcher, TuneIn, or on your favorite podcast platform. Topics Covered:Why you should care about the hallmarks of aging What I suggest doing before paying for extensive genetic and biometric testing Reflecting back on my life when I was really struggling with stress management Why it's important to hone in on your fasting glucose levels Understanding when your movement routine is too intense Exploring solutions outside of the conventional model Resources Mentioned:If you would like my list of lab recommendations or my health marker tracker, email dana@danafrost.comEpisode 48 - Urine Tracking with the Vivoo App. Use the code Vital30 for 30% off first purchase at vivoo.io Check out Lara Adler on InstagramGet in Touch: My WebsiteInstagramSpecial offers: Thanksgiving week giveaway: The first person to create an IG post or story and include #feelingyoungergrowingolder with a comment about what that means to them, tag @danafrost will receive a sleeve of 30 LifeWave Aeon anti-inflammatory patches which decrease inflammation, pain, and emotional triggers at the speed of light.Download the Daily Vitality eBook at danafrost.com/daily-vitality/Credit:Podcast Production by the team at The Wave PodcastingMusic by Phoebe GreenlandPhotography by Amy Boyle PhotographyPodcast art by SimplyBe. When you are truly in gratitude and allow yourself to sit in that feeling, it shifts your entire frequency. When you're feeling appreciation and gratitude, the reward center of your brain lights up and releases dopamine, the feel-good neurotransmitter in the brain. Does biotin actually work and help hair grow? That's the question I'm asking my friend, NTP and founder of JoelBrownWellness.com today. Joel is gracing this podcast with his presence and knowledge again! I love whenever I get a chance to look at beauty and wellness from the inside-out, so that's what is happening in today's episode.I've always wondered about biotin to be honest. I've taken it myself, in grandiose doses at times which I don't recommend, and yet I never see the mind-blowing results that others speak of in their social feeds. So does it help support hair growth on its own? In this conversation, Joel brings things back to reality through his holistic lens. He explains why biotin isn't a silver bullet and what we can do about it. I challenged him a bit as well, and bring up how complicated and confusing this ‘wellness' world can seem at times. You'll hear his response to that and so much more in this episode…Before I dive in I wanted to let you know that you can get 10% off his 1:1 Nutritional Intensive Session using code BRITT10. I am joined by Andrea Nakayama, an internationally-known Functional Medicine Nutritionist, educator, and speaker who is leading a movement to transform the health industry into a system that WORKS, empowering patients and practitioners alike with the systems and tools of Functional Nutrition. Andrea is celebrated as a leader in the field of Functional Nutrition because of her unique ability to teach and inspire practitioners and patients alike. Andrea synthesizes art and science, empathy and physiology, intuition and problem solving, into a system that truly helps people get to the root cause of their illness, create a path towards wellness, and find their way back to life. Andrea joins us to discuss the power of purpose with passion throughout the life cycle. I started studying with functional nutritionist and lifestyle practitioner Andrea Nakayama in 2016, and I'm thrilled to have her on the show to share her framework and perspective on purpose. Andrea dives into ‘The 5 P's': passion, permission, purpose, persistence, and perseverance. She illustrates the interconnected nature of these five concepts and gives examples of how to implement them into your journey of feeling younger while growing older. When it comes to purpose, there's an effect called the positive psychological construct that has a profound effect on our mental health and cognition as we age. It can be challenging to look within and process the ebbs and flow of life. Andrea shares some helpful exercises that can support the practice of listening in without judgment and finding out what really lights you up. Part of that process involves appreciating your past and stepping into the love that you deserve. We're often taught to sacrifice our boundaries in order to please other people. We discuss examples of what that has looked like in our lives and how we choose to practice radical self-care instead. Listen in to hear more of Andrea's wisdom on purpose and graciously taking care of yourself as you age. If you are enjoying these conversations, please subscribe and spread the love by leaving a review and sharing it with your friends.Listen to the episode on Apple Podcasts, Spotify, Google Podcasts, Stitcher, TuneIn, or on your favorite podcast platform. Topics Covered:Why it's essential to allow yourself to sit in a place of witnessing Listening to what comes up with curiosity, not judgment Letting go of perfectionism and allowing yourself to be a beginner Resisting what puts us on the trajectory of seeking external validation and answers Creating and upholding beautiful boundaries Honoring yourself when your limits are being testing Connect with Andrea: InstagramFunctional Nutrition Alliance Website15-Minute Matrix PodcastGet in Touch: My WebsiteInstagramSpecial offers: Join me for the Magnesium 30-Day Foot Soak Ritual, starting November 1st! In today's episode, Dr. Meg Haworth shares the importance of getting to the emotional root cause of illness and releasing those emotions to allow for true healing.  We are talking about the effect of emotions and beliefs on the physical body over time.Dr. Meg is an Holistic Health and Wellness Expert and Transpersonal Psychologist.  She is also the best-selling author of Get Well Now.Dr. Meg shares a bit of her journey with us, which begins at the beginning of her life.  During childhood, she experienced all forms of abuse, including sexual, physical, and emotional, and even survived a childhood drowning incident, where she needed to be revived.By her 20's, she was experiencing multiple illnesses and diagnoses including: IBS, ulcers, severe depression, scoliosis, fibromyalgia, Mixed Connective Tissue disease, and Chronic Fatigue Syndrome. She read an article about alternative medicine and began to explore that world, starting with chiropractic care.  She incorporated meditation, yoga, energy work, and nutrition, and each modality helped her slightly improve.  Transpersonal Psychology, and getting connected with her body, allowed her healing to make a quantum leap!  The key was getting to the emotion root cause of her illnesses.Through her work with her clients, she has created an emotional release technique that allows clients to get in touch with, address, and replace the stuck emotions that are making them sick.BUT...this technique does it in a way that allows her clients to feel happier, lighter, and more free at the end of the session.  There is no two week recovery from reliving trauma in order to heal.We are constantly learning, growing, and evolving."The fun never stops!"Your body holds the answers and the wisdom you need in order to get to the next level of health.Freedom comes from healing! We tend to hold resentments and anger, and we all do it differently.Dr. Meg considers these to be "teaching emotions" instead of negative emotions.Using the emotional release technique and learning the tools to use moving forward leads to emotional self mastery - which is FREEDOM!Exercises:Close your eyes, place your hand on your belly and take a deep breath, inhaling through your nose and exhaling through your mouth.Focus on your body.Scan it.What does it need in this moment?Get up and MOVE.Stretch...dance...Move!

The US life expectancy at birth is at its lowest since 1996, but meanwhile, we spend the highest amount on healthcare per capita than any other nation in the world relative to our wealth. On today's episode, I'm pulling back the curtain of what's been going on within the US healthcare system and what the statistics really show. Two of the leading causes of death in the US, heart disease and liver issues, are conditions that are both preventable and figure-out-able. Decreasing inflammation is easily done through diet and lifestyle changes, and I'm living proof that it's possible to reverse chronic conditions. But, these modalities don't provide any financial gain for corporations and Big Pharma. To date, the largest drug companies make higher profits than the largest companies of any other sector. Our healthcare budgets are increasing while health outcomes are decreasing. So, where do we go from here? Luckily, lifestyle medicine, functional medicine, and holistic practitioners are showing some positive health outcomes for people with chronic disease and pain. I'm urging you to take your health into your own hands and get curious about how you can truly heal. Listen in to hear my thoughts about the current state of healthcare in the US and where I see possible solutions.  If you are enjoying these conversations, please subscribe and spread the love by leaving a review and sharing it with your friends.Listen to the episode on Apple Podcasts, Spotify, Google Podcasts, Stitcher, TuneIn, or on your favorite podcast platform. Topics Covered:The metabolic chaos underneath that majority of chronic health conditionsRecent studies about healthcare in the US Who's really winning in the healthcare warTakeaways from the recent Biohacking Conference My perspective and advice about how to approach healing Resources Mentioned:Biohacking Conference hosted by Dave Asprey BioHarmonic Technologies  Fructose stimulated de novo lipogenesis is promoted by inflammationThe Costs of Chronic Disease in the U.S.Don't worry about the drug industry's profits when considering a waiver on covid-19 intellectual property rightsGet in Touch: My WebsiteInstagramSpecial offers: Download the Daily Vitality eBook at danafrost.com/daily-vitality/Credit:Podcast Production by the team at The Wave PodcastingMusic by Phoebe GreenlandPhotography by Amy Boyle PhotographyPodcast art by SimplyBe. When you're not feeling your best, or maybe feel a little cold coming on, how often do you suspect stress to be the reason? When we visit the doctor with even more serious concerns, how often are you being asked about your emotional state leading up to your illness.   An increasing amount of data coming out is starting to reveal how emotional stress, and even childhood trauma, whether it's big ‘T' or little ‘t' trauma, is directly linked to our body's immune system.   My guest today, Tiffany Cagwin, is a Functional Diagnostic Nutrition Practitioner who did the impossible and healed herself from chronic disease. Healing herself has taken her on a journey that she now guides others through as a Wellness Expert and Coach.  Tiffany's career evolved with her own journey of healing. She shares how early emotional trauma with her parent's divorce, and suppressing the emotions of disappointing her parents and feeling like she chose one over the other, eventually led to being a 17 year old diagnosed with Crohn's disease.   Holding trapped emotions in the body will manifest physically. Tiffany began with slowly finding ways to release some of the emotions of a younger version of herself that needed an emotional release in order to start biologically healing.  Tiffany found yoga to be so helpful that she did her teaching training for it in Boston, which led to opening multiple yoga studios, but she was still a way off from being healed. After having a severe flareup that hospitalized her and came with two more diagnoses for rheumatoid arthritis and Hashimoto's disease, Tiffany realized there was way more work to do.  “Just because you're having skin issues doesn't mean you have a skin issue.” -Tiffany Cagwin  Tiffany has ultimately developed a framework from years of figuring things out on her own that has been life changing for others as well. Her functional medicine foundational approach and way of healing is about A.M.E.N.D (action, mindset, energy, nourishment, and detox).  She ties mindset and what you believe about your own body into the beginning of this framework, along with taking action. If you've been diagnosed with an autoimmune condition, stop allowing yourself to see your body as the broken enemy. You only need to take one small action at a time towards seeing yourself as whole, refreshed, and healed.  Connect with Tiffany Cagwin:  Website: https://www.tiffanycagwin.com   Instagram: @tiffcagwin   My website with the show notes: https://www.meghanthomas.com/blog/podcast%2Ftiffany-cagwin   Learn more about your ad choices. When was the last time that you lost track of time? Being with my newborn grandson has reminded me of the wonders of nature and humanity. Watching him inhale and exhale, open his eyes, and develop has been a beautiful experience. With automation and the rapid pace of technology, we have less opportunities to observe and tap into a flow state, but in today's episode, I'm sharing a couple of techniques that help me get back to place. I've been exploring my relationship with goal-setting and achievement lately and realized that striving often crowds out wonder. I've been working on mimicking nature and simply receiving what comes my way instead of overworking. Sitting and observing the world around me, also called sit spot, has helped me connect deeper with myself and revisit different lessons that I've received from nature over the years. This precious time with my daughter, son-in-law, and grandson has strengthened my belief that we are stronger in community. In this episode, Joseph James speaks with Sharron Keogh a women's wellness expert who shows professional and entrepreneurial women transform their relationship with themselves so they can enjoy more clarity, have a greater sense of self-worth and self-belief, significantly improve wellness, and deeper connections with themselves and those around them.  She has experienced the highs and lows of maintaining physical and mental health, working full time, having multiple side businesses, and having a social life!  When Sharron was a child she was sexually abused, and this caused her to carry guilt and shame for years. As an adult, she had to learn how to let love in and let go of the shame.  They speak about how we all have a reason that we are here, we just have to uncover it. Finding our purpose is where our ultimate happiness will come from. It starts with talking about our emotions. In this episode: How her childhood sexual abuse led her to become suicidal in her teen years.  How she reestablished herself after hitting rock bottom. How she mentally processed 2 miscarriages in 6 months. How she found herself in a time where she had nothing going on, so she followed her passion.  Key Takeaway: Growing up with shame and finding ways to cope. How she learned to make her pain worth it by helping others. We all have a reason that we are here, we just have to uncover it. That is where our ultimate happiness will come from.  Tweetable moments: “How you look at things helps you process and move through things more powerfully.” “We are all so unique. From our DNA to our personalities we are all here for a reason.” “It's so important to normalize talking about the uncomfortable parts of life.” “I can create a new me.” - Joseph James  Connect with Sharron Keogh: Website: http://www.sharronkeogh.com (http://www.sharronkeogh.com) Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/theSharronKeogh (https://www.facebook.com/theSharronKeogh) Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/thesharronkeogh/ (https://www.instagram.com/thesharronkeogh/) Linkedin: https://www.linkedin.com/in/sharronkeogh/ (https://www.linkedin.com/in/sharronkeogh/) Download a FREE Self Care Guide https://www.sharronkeogh.com/selfcareguide/ (https://www.sharronkeogh.com/selfcareguide/) Connect with Joseph James: Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/meetjoejames (https://www.facebook.com/meetjoejames) Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/meetjosephjames/ (https://www.instagram.com/meetjosephjames/)

I'm joined by Angie Brown Harris, Licensed Massage Therapist, NAMS Certified Nutrition Consultant, Mindset and Motivation Coach, and Functional Nutrition Lifestyle Practitioner. After being diagnosed with Hashimoto's Thyroiditis in 2019, Angie wanted to explore holistic healing and discovered the world of functional medicine. On today's episode, we discuss honoring your inner voice, tools for feeling able and capable as you age, and how Angie is experiencing a new level of function and optimization with the help of LifeWave patches. When Angie started to feel like her body was breaking down, she learned to embody the mantra, “rest is doing something,” which is something I think we can all relate to. She started listening to her body so that she could continue to do the activities that she loved while managing her health condition. But, she didn't want to sign up for a lifetime of synthetic hormone supplements in order to do so. Angie breaks down the practical habits and lifestyle choices that she's made that have significantly improved her life. She explains the amazing effect that the LifeWave patches have had on her TPO antibody levels and daily wellbeing. In fact, she just ran her tenth marathon and has never felt stronger. Listen in to hear how Angie has found harmony in her body and is rewriting the narrative around what's possible when you have an autoimmune disorder. If you are enjoying these conversations, please subscribe and spread the love by leaving a review and sharing it with your friends.Listen to the episode on Apple Podcasts, Spotify, Google Podcasts, Stitcher, TuneIn, or on your favorite podcast platform. Topics Covered:Why Angie became a Functional Nutrition Lifestyle PractitionerBreaking the conditioning that many of us have to ignore what you body is telling you and push through pain Way to heal your relationship with food Finding your optimal weight, regardless of what the scale says What Hashimoto's is and how Angie discovered she had it Angie's go-to methods for combating the symptoms of Hashimoto's Connect with Angie: Angie's WebsiteAngie's LifeWave PageGet in Touch: My WebsiteInstagramSpecial offers: Download the Daily Vitality eBook at danafrost.com/daily-vitality/Credit:Podcast Production by the team at The Wave PodcastingMusic by Phoebe GreenlandPhotography by Amy Boyle PhotographyPodcast art by SimplyBe. There's a two-word phrase that's come up a lot since 2020, and it makes me cringe every time I hear it: be safe. I'm reflecting on some of the ways that I've defied that sentiment in my adult life and how getting outside of my comfort zone has always paid off in the end. I also touch on my experience at the LifeWave Global Convention that I went to recently and my thoughts on becoming a grandma at the end of September. Learning more about light therapy and getting involved with LifeWave has been one of the greatest ways that I've challenged the status quo. Research shows that light therapy helps to decrease pain and inflammation and increase blood flow, and I believe that LifeWave has the most effective and affordable solution out there. In today's episode, I highlight how incorporating the LifeWave patches into my wellness routine has impacted my life and what I think about the future of effective medicine. As always on this show, I like to be honest about the lessons that I've learned throughout my life and embrace the challenges that have been thrown my way. I share a major regretful decision that I made when I was about to graduate college, and how that experience informed my relationship to risk and safety as I got older. Plus, I talk about some things that are shaking up my world right now and how I'm approaching those milestones and events. Listen in to hear my thoughts about why I don't believe in living a “safe” lifestyle and what I've learned by taking risks throughout the years. If you are enjoying these conversations, please subscribe and spread the love by leaving a review and sharing it with your friends.Listen to the episode on Apple Podcasts, Spotify, Google Podcasts, Stitcher, TuneIn, or on your favorite podcast platform. Topics Covered:Why playing it safe will keep your life small and boring An overview of how activated stem cells can help you feel younger while growing older Why you have to move against your own survival instincts and get out of your zone of safety Discovering your power, limits, and resilience as you take risks Questions to help guide your reflections about your relationship to risk and safety Resources Mentioned:Check out Bennd yoga mats and props: benndyoga.comGet in Touch: Email dana@danafrost.com to share your story of being safe or riskyMy WebsiteInstagramSpecial offers: RSVP dana@danafrost.com to attend and receive the link for the LifeWave presentation on September 6th at 7 pm CSTDownload the Daily Vitality eBook at danafrost.com/daily-vitality/Credit:Podcast Production by the team at The Wave PodcastingMusic by Phoebe GreenlandPhotography by Amy Boyle PhotographyPodcast art by  SimplyBe. Back in episode 42 with Miray Tayfun, the founder and CEO of Vivoo, I spoke about my early experiences with the urine test strips and accompanying app. After more than a month of daily use, I wanted to chat with Vivoo's Nutrition and Wellness Expert, Melisa Karabeyoğlu, about my results and learn more about the parameters that Vivoo measures. Vivoo provides information in 90 seconds on 11 key wellness parameters, including hydration, vitamin C, calcium, magnesium, ketones, sodium levels, and oxidative stress. Melisa and I zoom in on my results and I get answers about how my varied diet is affecting my body's absorption of certain vitamins and minerals. Because I've been able to monitor my levels, I've made small tweaks to my supplement routine and I feel like I'm more conscious of how my food choices affect my daily life. Melissa explains the oxidative stress parameter in detail and we talk about how stress affects the body. We also touch on the ketone measurement and how you can use the Vivoo app to ensure your body actually is in balance.
