Welcome to the Father's House Augusta podcast. We hope you are encouraged and equipped as you listen to these messages.
"Learning from Jesus: Blessed are the Merciful"In Matthew 11 verses 28-29, Jesus invites His followers to “Learn from Me because I am gentle and lowly in heart.” Jesus further says in John 8 that He does nothing of Himself but only what the Father shows Him. Mercy is something we all need from God and from each other. And it is equally something God commands we should give. Mercy is not just a biblical concept--it is forgiveness in action, and as Praisy George shares, it must come from the depths of our hearts as an act of love towards others. There is a blessed revelation of mercy found in seeing circumstances from God's perspective towards us. Join Father's House Augusta as we begin to get a fresh revelation of Jesus for our lives as we dive into the Beatitudes.
“Learning from Jesus: Those Who Hunger & Thirst"In Matthew 11 verses 28-29, Jesus invites His followers to “Learn from Me because I am gentle and lowly in heart.” Jesus further says in John 8 that He does nothing of Himself but only what the Father shows Him. Righteousness is the character of Jesus, and it has the power call things to transform into the way God sees it should be. So often, we want things to be made "right," but we are welcomed into an awareness to see ourselves and our circumstances through the lens of truth so God can express His righteousness into the situation. The point of awareness is often the beginning point of transformation. Our posture must be to become hungry and thirsty for righteousness to work itself into every facet of life. Join Father's House Augusta as we begin to get a fresh revelation of Jesus for our lives as we dive into the Beatitudes.
“Learning from Jesus: Blessed are the Meek"In Matthew 11 verses 28-29, Jesus invites His followers to “Learn from Me because I am gentle and lowly in heart.” Jesus further says in John 8 that He does nothing of Himself but only what the Father shows Him. Jesus is meek, and He invites us all to live in meekness as we interact with others. Meekness is not weakness, but in many ways, it is controlled strength. Guest speaker, Doug Tesch shares his heart and understanding of meekness as we learn together how to "inherit the earth."Join Father's House Augusta as we begin to get a fresh revelation of Jesus for our lives as we dive into the Beatitudes.
“Learning from Jesus: Those Who Mourn”In Matthew 11 verses 28-29, Jesus invites His followers to “Learn from Me because I am gentle and lowly in heart.” Jesus further says in John 8 that He does nothing of Himself but only what the Father shows Him. Mourning is inevitable for everyone at one time or another in our lives. We mourn different things, and for different reasons, but the act of mourning is essential to our emotional and spiritual well-being. Whether we are grieving loss or the wrestling with the effects of sin, the Lord provides a blessed-ness to "redemptive mourning" as we lean into the help of the Comforter, the Holy Spirit. Join Father's House Augusta as we begin to get a fresh revelation of Jesus for our lives as we dive into the Beatitudes.
“Learning from Jesus: Poor in Spirit”In Matthew 11 verses 28-29, Jesus invites His followers to “Learn from Me because I am gentle and lowly in heart.” Jesus further says in John 8 that He does nothing of Himself but only what the Father shows Him. Jesus walked in such humility by emptying Himself towards us as our High Priest. He then invites us all to live like Him. It's in poverty of spirit that draws us into a truly blessed life of humble obedience and neediness of the Father. Join Father's House Augusta as we begin to get a fresh revelation of Jesus for our lives as we dive into the Beatitudes.
At Father's House Augusta, we have the desire to create a resting place for the Lord where He can rest in a holy habitation among His people. Psalm 132 expresses the desire to build the Lord a resting place where His presence can be fully welcomed and manifested on the earth. Join Pastor Chris Jones as he describes the heart of becoming a corporate and personal dwelling place of the Lord in order to make His name famous among the nations.
The upper room was an invitation from the Lord to take His people deeper--Passed religious duty, passed distraction, and passed busy-ness into a place of living filled, and consumed by Jesus. The Lord wants to dwell amongst His people, and He draws His people into the depths of worship, intercession, and intimacy with Him. Join Praisy George as she takes on a journey from being empowered of the Spirit to becoming a people zealous for Jesus and passionate in our pursuit of Him.
When we are caught up in the rat race of life--full of hurry, comparison, and pressure--we often miss moments of rest the Lord is inviting us into. In making room for rest and quietness, we are able to tune our ear to the still small voice of God, thus giving us strength, confidence, and trust. Join Pastor Tommy Ridgeway as he shares about engaging with the Lord through communion and rest.
The writer of Psalm 19:14 offers the prayer, "Let the words of my mouth and the meditations of my heart be acceptable in Your sight." Everyday life can present to us busy-ness, clutter, and overwhelm. The pattern of the world has us so full and distracted that we find little time authentically drawing near to God. Most of the circumstances of life tend to fill our minds and weigh heavy on our hearts. What consumes us often influences our beliefs and actions. Join Pastor Chris Jones as he describes how to approach the Lord through Biblical and holy meditations.
Matthew 5:8 states, "Blessed are the pure in heart, for they shall see God." So much in life takes up space within our hearts, and therefore robs us of the meaningful fellowship God is calling us into. In the third part of our series called "Creating Space," Pastor Chris Jones takes us into the discussion of allowing the Lord to align our hearts to His in purity and devotion so that we may see, perceive, and attend to Him in lifestyle of worship with delight and authenticity. Will you pursue purity of heart as an expression of your desire for more of the Lord?
Love will cause you to do sacrificial things. Scripture says that no one could take Jesus' life, but He laid it down (John 10:18). It was the joy that was set before Him that caused Jesus to endure the cross. There was delight in the fellowship that would result from the cross. As a response, the Lord calls us to take up our crosses, denying ourselves, and following Him as true disciples and lovers of God. Join us for this special Easter message as we corporately respond to the love of God by being devoted, living sacrifices offered as worship unto the Lord.
Fellowship with God is what works on the soil of your life--allowing you to grow and develop in relationship with Him. The deep of God is calling people into the deep of knowing Him as the One who sets free. Join Pastor Chris Jones as He invites the listener into making room for intimacy, truth, and freedom through devotion to the fellowship with Jesus.
"As the deer pants for the Lord, so my soul pants for you of God. My soul thirsts for God, for the living God. When shall I come and appear before God?" Psalm 42:1-2. In Part 1 of our new series, "Creating Space," Pastor Chris Jones describes the calling of the disciple of Christ to become dedicated to a life of fellowship with God. The Lord always invites us into deeper communion. Our depths are crying out for His deep. That drawing results in a life of encounter that establishes space to foster fellowship and sincere devotion. When will you come and appear before God?
How do we stay captivated by Jesus? How do we make hospitality to Him our greatest priority? Just like Mary sat at the feet of Jesus, the Holy Spirit is corporately drawing us deeply into "one thing" by beholding Him through humble adoration. As we make beholding him our priority, we can live our lives from a place of being captivated by Jesus. Join us at Father's House Augusta for this tender moment we had during worship.
When God is moving among us, we are often offered an invitation to participate in advancing His Kingdom. Through a dedication to a noble cause, willingness to live sacrificially, and a lifestyle of serving, we are used by the Lord to influence and impact others. In this message, Pastor Chris Jones describes three ways we can collectively contribute to the advancement in the Kingdom of God.
The Kingdom is a spiritual, unseen realm with visible effects and attributes that usually expresses the reign and the will of God on the earth. When we partner with God in prayer, "Your Kingdom come, Your will be done on earth as it is in heaven," we are welcoming the opportunity for God to rule and reign over every aspect of our lives. What does it look like when our lives are impacted by the Kingdom? Join Pastor Chris Jones as he continues our Kingdom Series.
Mark 1:15 expresses how the Kingdom of God is a reality that is to be personally experienced. Join Father's House Augusta for part 3 of our Kingdom Series as Pastor Presley George invites us into a lifestyle of repentance and a heart of hope-filled expectation in order to experience the power of the Gospel and the reality of the Kingdom of God in our every day lives.
Jesus preached the Gospel of the Kingdom while He physically walked the earth. He also gave insight that if we wanted to enter the Kingdom, we must first become like a child. Join Pastor Tommy Ridgeway as he shares how to approach the kingdom by developing a softened or tender heart towards the things of God.
Abraham was promised that what he could see would be his and his children's territory forever. God then shares with Moses and Joshua on separate occasions, that wherever they place the soles of their feet would be theirs. These promises were given to the children of Israel to express how the Lord would expand His Kingdom upon the earth. In the new covenant, we are also a part of an advancing Kingdom. The Lord is calling us into partnership with Him in our faith, through our prayers, and by means of taking "new territory" in the every day moments of our lives. It's by opening our eyes that we can see rightly. In seeing rightly, we can then partner with what the Lord is already doing through our lives, in our families, and within our community. A Kingdom awakening makes room for Kingdom advancement.
A praying church is a powerful church. A praying person is a fruitful person. One of the most fruitful contributions made by true disciples on behalf of the body of Christ is to become an individual with an authentic prayer life. What if a part of our prayer life was to fill our prayer time with intentional thanksgiving and blessings spoken on behalf of others? Pastor Chris Jones urges the church to pray for each other, not only out of need or duty, but constantly, and out of a sincere heart and affection for one another. It's a discipline that turns into love.
In Mark 9, we find the story of a father who was in desperate need of a miracle for his son. When it seemed hopeless, he cried out to Jesus for help. In that place of desperation, neediness, and unbelief, we can also see a powerful expression of trust. Join us in this message as Pastor Chris Jones encourages the church to not only develop "great" faith, but to also develop a constant trust in Jesus as the faithful one who does the impossible.
Luke 4 expresses the liberty the Lord provides for us when He "shows up". Psalm 23 reveals that the Lord is always leading us somewhere, especially towards restored souls. The Lord has provided everything we need to walk in healing and wholeness. Much of our inner turmoil and relational conflict is not usually because of our lack of passion for the Lord, personal anointing, or spiritual understanding--it's often due to a lack of attention to our souls. Join Pastor Chris Jones as he urges the church to pursue health, wholeness, and maturity for our souls as a way of becoming a healthy kingdom family.
Jesus is alive and still shows up when we gather in His name. There is a powerful expression of His liberty, revelation, and favor when He is "moving" among us. Through the cross, we have access to everything Jesus paid for, and where the Spirit of the Lord is there is always freedom. Join Pastor Chris Jones as He attempts to explain what happens whenever Jesus "shows up."
The pine is a unique and interesting tree that develops best within a forest of other pines. When it grows by itself, it doesn't really mature--it just grows bigger. Much like the pine tree, the body of Christ was never meant to grow alone. It was the will and wisdom of God to place us in community for our development, maturity, and health. Join guest speaker and professional forester, Tyler Verdery, for this special Father's Day service, as he encourages us to value and contribute to God's idea of community for our mutual wholeness and corporate benefit.
The Old Covenant was one that required various offerings and the sacrifices of lambs, goats, and bulls to ceremonially cleanse God's people of their sin. The New Covenant was made through the sacrifice of the pure, spotless Lamb--Jesus Christ. Our response to the sacrifice of Jesus is a life devoted to giving true praise and worship to the Lord. This is a life that understands we have a reason to praise the Lord, even when it is sacrificial. Join Presley George as he ministers to us about giving God what He truly deserves.
The Lord has poured out His Spirit upon us and gave us the ability to live in His likeness through righteousness. Everywhere we go, we have full access to righteousness, peace, and joy in the Holy Spirit. Jesus did the work, and now, we are able to live in the delight of the Lord. Join Pastor Chris Jones during this special worship encounter as we express our delight in walking in righteousness and no longer in the ways of the world.
The Lord has a mission within the world today, and He has commissioned us all to be a major part of that divine purpose. In fulfilling our "mission," we are invited into becoming acquainted with the Lord's purposes and passions on the earth, as well as His commands and mandates for us. But following Him is not just a matter of answering "the call," it is best expressed through obedience by first selflessly obtaining His heart. Join guest speaker Haley Lamb as she exhorts the church into a lifestyle of love and obedience as the proper response to the great mission the Lord has established for us in the earth.
Simon Peter encountered Jesus in a boat and was immediately called into a life changing destiny to become "fishers of men." As the story goes, Simon's impulsive nature and denial of Jesus found him back at fishing after Jesus' crucifixion. It wasn't the calling or the anointing that would sustain Simon Peter, but his ability to receive and be restored by God's love. In this convicting message, Pastor Chris Jones calls the church back into authentic community, fellowship, and destiny by allowing the transforming love of God to do a work in our hearts and within our relationships with each other.
Romans 6 describes that we were buried with Jesus through baptism into death, and equally as Jesus was raised for the dead, we were also raised with Him in newness of life. The Cross was the means by which we have been reconciled to God, and we are alive in the same resurrection power to now live as co-heirs with Christ. All this was a generous act of love all for the sake of being in communion with us. The broken body and the poured out blood on the cross was so we can live in authentic communion with God. Join us at Father's House Augusta as we celebrate the resurrection of Jesus.
The Triumphal Entry found in the Gospels describes a symbolic coronation ceremony of Jesus as the humble King of Israel. The worshippers crying "Hosanna" laid their cloaks down before Jesus and waved their hands and palm branches, acknowledging Him as the one true Messiah. Revelation 19 goes on to describe Jesus as the crowned King of Glory who would return on a white horse. We all have keys to the ancient gates that welcome the King of Glory in. Join Pastor Chris Jones on this Palm Sunday weekend as he invites the church to lift Jesus higher in every area of our lives.
What if the Lord had faithful gatekeepers that can welcome in the lost and the prodigals who would run into the abundant life God has prepared for them? Psalm 84 expresses "For a day in Your courts is better than a thousand. I would rather be a doorkeeper in the house of my God than dwell in the tents of wickedness." The Lord has been establishing "doorkeepers" and "gatekeepers" among us as we continue to steward the presence of the Lord among us. He has placed keys in our hand. Listen to this message that came out of a special encounter with the Lord at Father's House Augusta.
God's people are prophetic, and at Father's House Augusta, we believe prophetic people thrive best within the context of a supernatural, kingdom family--and more specifically, the "local church." Join pastor Chris Jones and special guest Paul Metcalf as they discuss how the prophetic can be expressed within the local community.
In 1 Kings 17 and 18, we read there is a drought in the land and after three years Elijah says he can hear the sound of the abundance of rain. James 5 clarifies that Elijah earnestly prayed to shut up the rain for three years and then he prayed for it to rain again, and it rained. The Lord has been revealing the sound of His voice like thunder as a sign to Father's House Augusta to prepare for an abundance of rain. Join Pastor Chris Jones as he instructs on how to posture ourselves in prayer and to establish our hearts in preparation for rain. Can you hear the thunder of His voice?
There is the obligation of believers to make seeking the Lord a constant posture of our hearts towards Him. Seekers find Him, and those who find Him have a testimony of His goodness. Like Bartimaeus or the women with the alabaster box, seeking Jesus can seem excessive, but their inner seeking got Jesus' attention. Join Pastor Chris Jones as he teaches on developing a lifestyle of seeking the Lord.
Pastor Chris Jones urges the listener to remember the past places of encounter with the Lord where He had begun good works within us. It's from these re-dug "wells" of first love devotion that we often obtain the inheritance to pass off to another generation. The Lord leads us into His heart to "remember" these personal experiences of whole-hearted communion. This message came from a powerful night of encounter and impartation at Father's House Augusta.
It's obvious that we are living in a tense political and religious climate, and disappointment is all around. It is often tempting to give into the influence of political and religious spirits versus standing upon the truth of the Word and the promises of God. Join Family Life Pastor Tommy Ridgeway as he describes how we can become empowered to understand God's promises instead of blinding and naively believing them without a healthy and intentional process. Lean in as faithful stewards of God's promises--learning to authentically inquire of the Lord.
Mark 3:14 states that Jesus appointed twelve that they might be with Him and that He might send them out to preach. Judas the betrayer was one of those twelve. He saw the miracles, listened to the sermons, and more than likely participated in all of the "activity." He was sent out to preach, but there seems to have been something missing. Pastor Chris Jones shares that being with Jesus in captivation of Him and with the willingness to lay their lives down with Him is greater than being sent out to do the deeds for Him. Listen to this heart cry as we seek to be captivated by Jesus above all else.
1 Corinthians 2 versus 4 and 5 reads, "My speech and my preaching were not with persuasive words of human wisdom, but in demonstration of the Spirit and of power, that your faith should not be in the wisdom of men but in the power of God." There is a Kingdom reality and a stewardship with your encounter with God that supersedes the speeches, agendas, and manmade causes. Pastor Chris Jones shares that it's through the fruit of an authentic encounter and a life-giving relationship with Jesus that will truly change the world.
The widow of Zarephath found herself in the midst of famine and with only a handful of flour and a small jar of oil left to make one last loaf of bread. The Lord sent the prophet Elijah to her, and the rest of the story is that of the Lord's faithfulness and the widow's miraculous abundance. She didn't even know what was in her hand. Join Pastor Chris Jones as he urges the church to acknowledge what the Lord has been doing among us even though it may seem there is lack and destruction all around.
Does Jesus still make us wonder? Do we still seek after Him with hearts of receptivity? Are we blown away by Jesus or are we in a place of desensitization towards Him and a place of wandering. We are being invited to be like Magi in Matthew 2 or Anna and Simeon in Luke 2--seeking Jesus, honoring the King, longing to see to Him, and waiting for Him in wonder. Join us at Father's House Augusta as we acknowledge Jesus as the one we seek in the midst of so much uncertainty and change. Stay for the very end of this message for a special time of prayer, worship, and encounter. Merry Christmas!
His name is Jesus, the Deliverer, the One who Saves, and Scriptures tells us that we when encounter Him, we can't help but express that "God is with us." When Jesus was born, the earth was being introduced to an abrupt and open encounter with Grace and Truth as God now physically walked with mankind in the flesh. As prophetically described in Isaiah 9:6, when we experience Jesus, we would be encountering the reality of Wonderful, Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, and Prince of Peace. We hope this message on "Encountering Immanuel" invites you into a refreshing experience with the goodness and beauty of God through the person of Jesus Christ.
John 1:11-12 says, "He came to His own, and His own did not receive Him. But as many as received Him, to them He gave the right to become children of God, to those who believe in His name." Poverty of spirit, humility, and wonder are three qualities that give us capacity to see Jesus with eyes of faith and to receive Him for who He truly is--the answer to our every need. Join us at Father's House Augusta as Pastor Chris Jones urges us to have a heart that is always ready to believe in Jesus and receive Him and His ways when it matters the most.
In 1 Thessalonians 5:16-18 Paul instructs the church to "rejoice always, pray without ceasing, and give thanks in everything." He goes on to urge that this is the will of God in Christ Jesus for us. There is a supernatural power in thanksgiving that helps the believer acknowledge the victory and liberty Christ has given. Join Pastor Chris Jones as he encourages us to embrace thanksgiving as an expression of honor and generosity towards God and others.
Chaos, confusion, and troubles surround many of us at one time or another. Peace can often seem difficult to obtain. However, Jesus says in John 14:27, "My peace I leave with you..." Join Pastor Chris Jones as he encourages us to embrace the gift and authority God has given us concerning peace.
Luke 24 describes an encounter two disciples had with Jesus after His resurrection on the road to Emmaus. Once Jesus revealed Himself, he vanished, and his followers asked each other, "Didn't our hearts burn within us..." Closeness to Jesus left a burning within. Join us at Father's House Augusta for this special encounter from the Lord as hungry hearts began to burn in His presence.
In Exodus 33, Moses sets up a "Tent of Meeting" where people could go to meet with the Lord. We find Moses meeting with God "face to face as one would meet with a friend." Join Pastor Chris Jones as he invites the church into a lifestyle of personal encounter to know Him more. (The last 20 minutes of this message is an expression of prayer and seeking the face of Jesus as we asked the Lord to show us His glory).
We often encounter places in life that feel stuck, seem impossible, or need a touch from the Lord. We need a breakthrough, but we also need to understand what the Lord has already done to make a way for us. Join Pastor Chris Jones as he shares how we can walk in tremendous hope as we pursue breakthrough in our lives.
You can't see everything happening on the earth right now, but God is up to so much. At times, the circumstances in our lives can cause us to lose the salt that flavor's the earth with God's goodness. God's nature is to work things out for our good and to restore us all back to true hope. Join Pastor Tommy Ridgeway as he brings a message on rediscovering hope and finding our life's "seasoning" out of the Lord's presence.
In the Old Testament, God often described Himself as "jealous" when His peoples' affections were after idols. What does the jealously of God mean in the life of the New Testament believer? What beliefs rule our hearts, minds, and affections that tend to lead us away from the simplicity found in Christ. Join Pastor Chris Jones as he calls us to surrender our emotions and affections to the Jealous One.
There are so many voices, beliefs, and opinions out there that impact our hearts, minds, and worldview. It's evident throughout the New Testament that Christians are called to have a Gospel-centered worldview as we engage with culture. This question must be asked, "What do we allow to fill our hearts and minds that form our belief systems and worldview?" Join Pastor Chris Jones as we navigate the urgency of the Apostle Paul, that Christ would be "fully formed in us."
The role of a father is essentially to demonstrate and impart love to children, and the strength of a father is found in his heart. Malachi 4:6 expresses the Lord's heart for the restoration of fathers and sons to be the answer to the brokenness in the land. Join Pastor Tommy Ridgeway as he imparts the revelation of fatherhood in this special Father's Day message.
