What does it take to build safer communities from the inside out? In this episode, Barrett Gruber sits down with Jenny Desch — prosecutor, community advocate, and candidate for South Carolina House — for a substantive, policy-rich conversation that covers domestic violence reform, healthcare access, education funding, and the rapid growth reshaping Fort Mill.Jenny opens up about her path to law and what drew her toward criminal justice and prosecution. She shares the realities of building a domestic violence unit from the ground up — identifying the gaps in the system, understanding the cycle of abuse, and designing interventions that balance accountability for offenders with real support for survivors. It's a candid, informed perspective that goes far beyond talking points and into the mechanics of how the legal system succeeds and fails victims every day.The conversation expands into healthcare, where Jenny makes the case that access to mental and physical health resources isn't just a quality of life issue — it's a public safety issue. Her philosophy is straightforward: "Healthy kids grow into healthy adults." She outlines specific initiatives she'd champion in the SC House to close the gaps in healthcare access that leave too many South Carolina families behind.Education funding gets a similarly detailed treatment, with Jenny addressing the inequitable distribution of resources across districts and what equitable, outcomes-focused education policy could look like in practice. The episode also tackles Fort Mill's explosive growth — the infrastructure pressures, development concerns, and community safety challenges that come with being one of the fastest-growing areas in South Carolina.Whether you're a Fort Mill voter, a policy wonk, or someone who wants to understand what thoughtful local leadership looks like, this episode is required listening.Topics Covered:Jenny Desch's background and path to criminal prosecutionBuilding a domestic violence unit and addressing systemic gapsUnderstanding the cycle of domestic violence and intervention strategiesBalancing accountability and rehabilitation in the justice systemHealthcare access and mental health initiatives in South CarolinaEducation funding and equitable resource distribution across districtsFort Mill's rapid growth and development concernsCommunity safety and law enforcement collaborationCampaign strategy and Jenny's vision for SC HouseDesch For House | FacebookDesch for House | InstagramJenny Desch for SC State House 26Barrett Gruber | LinktreeThe All About Nothing: Podcast | LinktreeClick here for Episode Show Notes! As always, "The All About Nothing: Podcast" is owned and distributed by BIG Media LLC!Check out our network of fantastic podcasts!Click Here to see available advertising packages!Click Here for information on the "Fair Use Copyright Notice" for this podcast.Mentioned in this episode:Check Your Voter RegistrationVisit https://theallaboutnothing.com/voter to check your registration! (Fort Mill, S.C.) -- Silfab Solar in Fort Mill has been drawing criticism in recent weeks for a number of reasons, including two chemical spills, which disrupted operations at Flint Hill Elementary School. The company is also facing a lawsuit for allegedly failing to pay bills and has drawn the attention of S.C. Attorney General Alan Wilson. Regardless of the recent scrutiny, a grassroots Fort Mill group has been working to move the Silfab plant, which they say has put nearby residents at risk. The Palmetto Report's Olivia Miles speaks Dr. Andrea Olson, a Fort Mill veterinarian and member of Move Silfab, about the group's concerns.
The inherent strangeness of the political world is perfectly captured by the absurdity of Congress continuing to collect paychecks during a government shutdown, a practice that shields them from the consequences of their own failure. This disconnect is being highlighted by No Kings rallies in Fort Mill, which aim to expose a Democrat philosophy that critics argue is fundamentally detached from reality. Ultimately, these demonstrations underscore a growing frustration with a political class that many feel is impossible to negotiate with, as you simply cannot find common ground with someone who refuses to operate within the bounds of reason.
00:12 This is a warning. This is a warning for all of you Republicans, all of you conservatives, all of you MAGA Americans in the Fort Mill area of South Carolina, right there up 77 at the Catawba River. This is a warning. Do not cross paths with a young woman 00:41 named Alyssa Hayes, H-A-A-S-E. Alyssa Hayes, do not cross paths with Alyssa Hayes, because she says your days are numbered. Count your days, presidential party. If I see any one of you and I know who you are, I'm not going to have to say it out loud, I know. If I see any one of you and I have a loaded shotgun, I'm putting it between your eyes. 01:10 It goes, starts with Trump first, obviously, and then it goes down the line of power. So if any of you guys are coming across my path and I happen to see you, it will be your last. Have a good day. Yeah. Oh, she sounds so sweet. Doesn't she? Alyssa Hayes, I guess it's Hayes in Fort Mill, threatening not only the president of the United States, not only all the members of the cabinet. 01:40 Not only all the Republican members of Congress, House and Senate, but you as well. You as well. I wonder if Alyssa Hayes has had a visit paid to her by the Secret Service. I wonder if her employer knows about this. Now understand, this isn't something she wanted kept secret. This is something she posted on social media herself. She wanted you to see this. 02:10 The least I could do was oblige. She wants to be famous, so I thought I could help. 02:17 So if you are any Republicans out there in Fort Mill, whoo, watch out for Elissa Hayes. I think she needs a visit. 02:26 I think she needs a visit. really, really do. Have you ever sat down and talked with a Secret Service agent? It's not fun. I've had to do it several times throughout my radio career because of things people said on the radio. It's not a fun conversation. They are, in general, humorless people. They really are. So, let's see what happens with that young lady. And listen, when something does happen and you do get a visit, 02:55 or you lose your job if you have one or whatever. Please, please, please do not. 03:05 claim to be the victim here because you are not the victim. You're the victim of your own stupidity. Let's go to Stephen and Clemson. Stephen, welcome. Hey, Charlie. I just I'm appalled at this woman. I lived in Fort Mill for two years and it's one of the best places I've ever lived. So not all the people are like that. Number one, number two. uh 03:34 This lady definitely needs to be arrested. uh She's threatening the president. She's making direct threats publicly to a whole group of people. And I'm serious, man. uh I never heard of her. But gosh, in this day and time when someone says something like that, it used to be you just blow it off. Right. People are crazy now. These days you got to take it seriously. 04:03 Got to take it very seriously. I'm surprised that I'm surprised. Tick tock allowed that on their on their platform. Which is kind of amazing. Pretty liberal themselves. Yeah, they are. They really are. You're right about that, Steven. I appreciate it, buddy. Thank you very much. W.O.R.D. Talkline 800-9050-989. Would love to chat with you this afternoon. Coming up in just a few minutes, the Democrat, the hive mind of the Democrat. They've got a new plan. 04:33 They've got a brand new plan to make to convince you that the SAVE Act is a bad thing. And that plan is to be stupid. Let's go to uh Will and Taylor's. How are doing, Will? I'm Will Charlie. How are you? I'm great. What's on your mind this afternoon? I would like to encourage as many of your voters or listeners who are like-minded. 05:02 to dial area code 202-224-5972 and urge Senator Lindsey Graham to resign prior to the primary so that he will not face being a powerful U.S. senior senator defeated in the primary. All right, there you go. So you guys, we'll want you to call Lindsey Graham and tell him, hey, Lindsey. 05:31 Save us a lot of trouble. Go ahead ...

Tune in here to this Monday edition of Breaking With Brett Jensen! Breaking Brett Jensen discusses a situation that occurred during the Los Angeles Marathon. Jensen said the temperature during the race reached about 82°F, which organizers described as hotter than expected. As a result, participants who completed 70% of the full marathon distance could still receive the same medal as those who finished the entire race. Jensen said the decision illustrates a broader cultural and political trend he believes could eventually affect Mecklenburg County. Later, Jensen highlights the ongoing dispute between Silfab Solar and the town of Fort Mill. He criticizes the company’s explanation that the hydrofluoric acid incident was “just a drip.” He argues that even a small amount of such chemicals would be unacceptable in someone’s yard or home, suggesting that minimizing the event does not address legitimate safety concerns. Investigative journalists — Mandy Matney and Liz Farrell — broke major news this past Tuesday with the announcement that Myrtle Beach pastor JP Miller has been accused of raping a 15-year-old girl at his father's church, Cathedral Baptist Church (formerly All Nations Church), in 1998 and again sexually assaulting her in 2023. The lawsuit was filed by Jane Doe No. 1 against John-Paul Miller, Reginald Wayne Miller, and their churches, including Solid Rock Ministries. Mandy and Liz share details of the lawsuit while connecting the dots on what was happening in JP's life at the time. Plus, they sit for an interview with Rock Hill attorney Randy Hood of McGowan, Hood, Felder and Phillips law firm, who is representing Jane, to learn more about Jane's case and what the world of litigating institutional child sexual abuse looks like. Hood is no stranger to suing churches on behalf of sexual assault victims. He also represents clients in the case against Morningstar Fellowship Church in Fort Mill, South Carolina. On Tuesday, Mandy and Liz also broke the very important news that attorney Mark Tinsley from the Murdaugh Murders trial — aka Zero Dark Tinsley and Tiger Tinsley — is also representing Jane in her case against the Millers. Also on the show, JP Miller appeared in Magistrate Court on Wednesday for a hearing related to seven of his cases against protesters and … well, he did a terrible job, as expected… The premium extended episode includes a play-by-play featuring the most pertinent highlights. Special thanks to Ben from Artistic Eye Productions based in Summerville, SC for covering the Magistrate Court Proceedings Let's dive in...
