Towards Emotional Wholeness by Apostle Joseph Mintah in the series The Ministry System of the Believer
In Matthew 18, the disciple Peter approaches Jesus to ask Him about forgiving others. Peter approaches Jesus with the assumption that there are limits to forgiveness – one person can only forgive so much. In response, Jesus tells Peter a story that provides an insight into God's forgiveness and makes it clear that there are no boundaries on forgiveness. This week we pick up our series, “Beneath the Surface: Following Jesus into Mental and Emotional Wholeness” by digging into Jesus' teaching and learning how we can begin to understand what God has done for us in Jesus and begin to apply the forgiveness we have received to the people around us.

Fund conversations that matter: donate.accessmore.com During today's conversation on Back Porch Theology Alli and I are diving in deep with Dr. Curt Thompson, who's a board-certified, practicing psychiatrist who loves God and His Word and His people. I first met Dr. Thompson about ten years ago through a mutual friend who gave me one of his books called Anatomy of the Soul. I was immediately intrigued by the title because that's my favorite description of the Psalms, written by ancient church father, John Calvin, and I was also intrigued by how Curt connects his medical expertise in neurobiology with Christocentric theology. Dr. Walter Brueggemann, who's a world-renowned Bible scholar, describes him as having remarkable agility between neuroscience and theological verities. In other words, God has given this incredibly kind man a gift to help the rest of us better understand what Paul was talking about in Romans when he encourages Christ-followers to renew our minds. This conversation blew redemptive gales of fresh wind in the sails of my heart and I really think it's going to do the same for y'all. So please grab a cup of coffee and your Bible –unless you're hollowing out a huge gourd for a Fall centerpiece, of course - and come allow your great, big, beautiful – albeit possibly weary - heart to exhale on the on the porch with us! Mark has authored three books including, “HELP! My Teen is Self-Injuring: A Crisis Manual for Parents,” and “The Path Out of Loneliness: Finding and Fostering Connection to God, Ourselves and One Another.” We spend our conversation talking about his new (and soon-to-be-released) book, “The Path to Wholeness: Managing Emotions, Finding Healing, and Becoming Our Best Selves” (releasing on May 9 from NavPress). I got the privilege of reading an advance copy and found the book to be incredibly accessible and helpful not only for me personally but in my work trying to help others. And there are a couple of things in our conversation that I wrote down in bold capital letters in my journal and am quite sure they are going to show up in several future sermons and lectures. It's a great book and a rich conversation.

In today's episode, I'm going to teach you why you should be striving for “emotional wholeness” instead of happiness. I'm really excited to share the concept of “emotional wholeness” that I've created which has helped me and my clients to attain a deep sense of inner peace and contentment. I start with a beautiful quote by Dr. Elizabeth Kubler Ross. Then, I cover three main points: Emotional wholeness is about accepting all of your emotions and where you are right now in your "emotional season." There are two main types of emotions we experience: what we perceive as desirable and what we perceive as undesirable. There is a richness of emotion for a reason. There are “emotional seasons” in life that mimic the physical seasons we experience with the weather. In addition, I share exciting NEWS. Stay tuned to the end (and if you want a sneak peak, go to https://coachbayla.com/awakentoyou to find out what I have in store for you!)
Many people try to follow religious rules to feel more connected to God. But we can find the POWER to heal and become our best selves when we know the secret of spiritual rest. This first podcast explains the relational nature of God and how that allows us a place of rest in the ups and downs of life. This podcast provides information and inspiration to help you on your journey to wholeness but it is not a substitute for medication or counseling. --- Send in a voice message: https://anchor.fm/antoinette-t-cooper/message
Fanicy Hunter (pronounced like “fancy”) is a therapist AND a yoga instructor. She combines both, in the park, to empower people towards total wholeness… I asked her how she came up with that combination, so she told me the back story. “When I was a kid, I couldn't decide if I wanted to teach dance or if I wanted to be a psychologist. This does both.” No, there wasn't a straight line from 9-year old kid, charting her life dream, to where Fanicy is today. As we often say, life is BOTH beautiful and hard… it includes progress and pain alike. ⭐️⭐️⭐️ In this episode, Fanicy talks about emotional wholeness— from a therapist's experience. That is, whereas I often write and teach about things I'm exploring, she talks HERE about an area where she already has expertise. She talks about—
