This one is all about 6 big keys to time-feel. And time and feel are connected by still kinda 2 things... You can have feel and naff time... You can have time and soulless feel... So the first 3 focus on time, and the last 3 focus more on feel. As always, hope you enjoy, let me know your thoughts.
This episode is really a stream of consciousness, where I am sharing some of my own ideas and thoughts on creativity in playing and teaching drums. And how we in order to express ourselves at some point need to stop copying others and find out own processes or little stamps to develop the ideas around us. That we can make drumming exciting if we explore as a child would. Enjoy and let me know if you'd like to hear more on this. --- Send in a voice message: https://anchor.fm/infinitydrumming/message

I was helping a student who would not be able to access a kit over the weekend and is preparing a recording. So I made him air drum in the lesson and he was blown away how just 2 plays through a song air drumming transformed his performance of the tune when he returned to the kit. I had to go years like this... Air drumming everywhere... and it served me incredibly well. Learn more in this episode. --- Send in a voice message: https://anchor.fm/infinitydrumming/message
There are 2 negative extremes in performance. The robot, who barely moves and feels nothing... And the faker, who flicks their hair and gitrates yet still feels nothing. This episode is all about how to avoid both of these and how to generate genuine authentic emotional performance of songs... Even if their meaning is a riddle or a mystery. --- Send in a voice message: https://anchor.fm/infinitydrumming/message
There can sometimes be a disconnect with this... No one seems to talk about how to develop your own vocabulary... It's easy to add sound effects and put drums in funny orders... But how do we actually develop a PERSONAL VOCABULARY? You know. Like Bonham. Buddy. Etc etc. How do we start to sound like we made some of our own decisions about how to interpret phrasing... And hidden in that is the point... We must of course be interpreting the music for it to sound great... How do we get there directly? --- Send in a voice message: https://anchor.fm/infinitydrumming/message

This is a pretty candid episode... I am going to talk about my deeper spiritual point of view on drumming and what I believe to be music's deeper role in society and how it can be transformative to us and those around us if we go a little deeper, and stop using music as a tool just to be better than others or just to be happy, but also to find a deeper part of ourselves that is pure and free of judgement. --- Send in a voice message: https://anchor.fm/infinitydrumming/message
