Sports, drafts and nonsense with Joe Posnanski and The Good Place's Michael Schur.
The PosCast with Joe Posnanski & Michael Schur is a delightful podcast that combines a love for baseball with a healthy dose of nonsense. If you're a fan of the sport and enjoy meaningless banter, then this is the perfect place for you. The hosts' camaraderie shines through in every episode, and their entertaining drafts and discussions add to the overall enjoyment of the show. As a long-time listener, I can confidently say that The PosCast has become one of my favorite podcasts ever.
One of the best aspects of this podcast is the easy rapport between Joe Posnanski, Michael Schur, and their guests. Whether they are discussing baseball or tackling random topics, their conversations feel natural and filled with humor. The drafts in particular are a highlight, as they bring out unexpected choices and hilarious arguments. The meaninglessness of it all adds to the charm, making it a fun listen for anyone looking to unwind and have a good time.
However, there are moments when the podcast can be overly rambling and may lose focus. While this can be seen as part of its charm, some listeners may find it tiresome or wish for more structure. Additionally, the content sometimes leans heavily towards specific teams or individuals that not everyone may be familiar with or interested in. This could potentially alienate certain listeners who aren't invested in those particular subjects.
In conclusion, despite its occasional ramblings and niche interests, The PosCast remains an enjoyable listen for fans of baseball and nonsense alike. Joe Posnanski, Michael Schur, Ellen Adair, and their guests bring radio magic to each episode with their humor and insights. While it may not be the most information-dense podcast out there, it certainly stands out as an entertaining piece of entertainment created by two talented individuals who clearly have a passion for what they do.

Let me tell you what a trooper Molly Knight is. She has been deathly ill the last couple of weeks dealing with Covid. Like SUPER sick — can’t get out of bed sick. But she texted me after Vin Scully passed away and said we HAD to do a podcast. So we recruited Mike Schur and talked a whole lot about Vin Scully … and the Dodgers … and the Juan Soto trade … and the sad existence of the Angels … and how much better peanut M&Ms are than regular M&Ms … and so much more!Shortly after we did this, Molly had to check into a hospital for severe dehydration. She’s much better now. But I gotta tell you, that’s the sort of Kellen Winslow commitment you get from Molly Knight. Sign up for her Substack, like, right now! This is fun — Molly Knight and I talk about our five “favorite” baseball stories of the year so far. Only they aren’t really our favorites since we HAD to talk about the Yankees. I mean, the Yankees are overshadowing everything else in baseball so far.So we do talk about the Yankees … and we also talk about some of our favorite stuff like Byron Buxton, the Joc Pederson-Tommy Pham thing that never ends, the Phillies’ and Braves’ winning streaks, etc. Get full access to JoeBlogs at joeposnanski.substack.com/subscribe
If you haven’t gotten enough baseball preview stuff here the last couple of weeks, Molly Knight and I talked some baseball, why the Dodgers didn’t bring back Kenley, how much magic the Giants lose without Buster, how much we love the Blue Jays infield and so on.Please check out Molly’s Substack “The Long Game” because it’s fantastic. Jackie Stiles is one of the greatest college basketball players ever — she set the NCAA scoring record while playing at what was then Southwest Missouri State and most of you, surely, will remember her team’s extraordinary run to the Final Four that year. She is also an amazing person. I’ve known her now for closing on 25 years, and followed her from when she was just a kid in Claflin, Kansas, making 1,000 shots a day, through her incredible college career, through her injury-plagued pro career and into her post-career life as she has searched to find the person she is without basketball. On March 1, a new documentary by Brent Huff called “The Jackie Stiles Story: Anything is Possible,” will premier in her hometown of Springfield, Mo. With that in mind, it seemed a good time to catch up with Jackie, talk a bit about her life and, sure, relive a couple of Jackie Stiles legends (like the time she won the Kansas state track titles in the 400, 800, one mile and two mile on the same day).Super fun conversation. Hope you’ll like it. Get full access to JoeBlogs at joeposnanski.substack.com/subscribe
