John Means to start for Baltimore. Means in three starts an ERA of 2.60 with WHIP of 0.81. The lefthander has a strikeout mark of 9.1% with 6.1% walks. Ground balls served at 30.9% with 1.56 home runs per nine innings. A FIP of 5.67 does suggest a rise in ERA based on his numbers.

Josh is back with Dante this week to recap the last week in Baltimore sports. After starting off with some Star Wars talk, the boys rap about the last week in O's baseball starting with their series win in Boston. The Playoff magic number is still four after losing the rubber match to St Louis, and with Tampa Bay coming into town for what should be a GREAT four game series, Dante and Josh discuss what they want to see from the Birds and how they should approach what will likely be an ALDS preview. Aside from the schedule, some good news on the Felix Bautista front. The All-Star closer has been playing catch this week, with reports coming out Wednesday afternoon stating he's stretching it to about 90 feet. We're not sure exactly what this means, but we think it's a good thing. Also, John Means is back for all those who observe. Means made his first start for the O's in almost 18 months and delivered a pretty good performance. Unfortunately the Orioles lost the game, but Means' outing was encouraging for Orioles fans. Moving on to the other Baltimore team that played this week, the Ravens secured a 1-0 start to their season beating the Houston Texans in their home opener. The defense was all over the field, including leadership from LBs Patrick Queen and Roquan Smith, as well as some encouraging performances from David Ojabo, Odafe Oweh, and Jadeveon Clowney. However on the other side of the ball, the offense was notably rusty, at times out of synch, and overall left much to be desired. However, Zay Flowers does appear to be THAT DUDE. To make matters worse, the Ravens have once again fallen victim to major injuries, including a catastrophic season ending Achilles injury to running back JK Dobbins. Josh and Dante explain just why and how much this sucks for both the team and JK himself, as well as diving into the other notable injuries that occured this week. Nevertheless, we move on as the NFL does to preview this week's matchup with the Cincinnati Bengals. Coming off a less-than-desirable performance in Cleveland, the Bengals host the Ravens as a 3.5 favorite in their home opener. Dante gives his 3 keys to victory, and Josh breaks down how the Ravens can leave Ohio 2-0. To kick off the show this week the boys are talking about the tantalizing feeling that football being so close is giving them. Thursday was a big day for Scoot, for a number of different reasons, so he comes in hot with tons of energy. The Orioles are finally back home after their 9 game road stretch in which they finished 6-3. They are currently staring down the barrel the last 6 of a 9 game home stint following a series win against Toronto, with Colorado and Chicago coming to town. Dante and Scoot give their thoughts on what we should expect from the O's in the two series against the two bad clubs. John Angelos has, once again, found a way to be the center of attention when it comes to the Orioles, this time saying (and lying about) how hard it will inevitably be to keep and extend their young core without "massively" raising prices. September is right around the corner which means one thing for baseball: roster expansion. Scoot and Dante discuss some of the likely candidates for the additional roster spots, and the potential of top prospect Jackson Holliday making his ascension to major league status. John Means is back to pitching and, according to Mike Elias, is very close to rejoining the birds for the stretch run. Moving on to football, the Washington Commanders have done the impossible winning a preseason game against the Ravens, and thus ending the eight-year run of undefeated preseason play from Baltimore. Scoot and Dante are very thankful we don't have to hear about this streak any longer, and also shed some light on the Commanders treating this game like the Super Bowl. Jeff Zreibec put out his stock report on some Ravens players following the second preseason game which included some interesting insight on a few notable players. Injuries are a perennial variable that every team attempts to plan for, but it is ultimately impossible to fully safeguard against. The Orioles are intimately familiar with that right now. As the team continues to exceed expectations, they now have to wrangle with some high profile bumps and bruises.By far the most important injury has happened to centerfielder Cedric Mullins. Arguably the team's most important player, Mullins exited a game over the weekend with a quad injury. Thankfully, it does not appear to be too serious, but the star outfielder will still be sidelined for several weeks at least.Elsewhere, the pitching crunch is real. In the same week that rookie Grayson Rodriguez was demoted for poor play, the O's also found out that two veterans they were depending on for return later this summer could still be a ways away.John Means, the potential ace of this thin starting staff, suffered a setback in his rehab from Tommy John surgery. The setback was in his back, not his surgically-repaired elbow. That's good news, but it will still push his return beyond the originally anticipated July window.In the bullpen, the O's will be without Dillon Tate for a bit longer as he had a stress reaction during his own rehab from an off-season injury.
