This past week should have reminded everybody that baseball is a long season. The Phillies followed a gruesome 1-9 stretch – a lot of people thought they were dead -- with a 5-1 homestand against the Cubs and Blue Jays. The offense came to life against two playoff-caliber teams. Brandon Marsh (1.167 OPS), Alec Bohm (1.128 OPS), Otto Kemp (.898 OPS), J.T. Realmuto (.980 OPS), Max Kepler (1.300 OPS), Trea Turner (.820 OPS), Nick Castellanos (.808 OPS) and Kyle Schwarber (.869 OPS) each had big moments against the Cubs and Blue Jays. So did the rotation, led by Zack Wheeler, Ranger Suárez, Cristopher Sánchez and Jesús Luzardo. First Pitch is powered by betPARX Sportsbook and Casino app. It's “Best Week” by Manco & Manco Pizza! Tek & Prem welcome The Philly Quizmaster and co-owner of Shibe Vintage Sports, Johnny Goodtimes, on the VetLine to talk Birds, Sixers, and his unique Kobe Bryant meeting. The Eagles Preseason is less than 2 months away, and minicamps have been very interesting. With an infusion of youth and energy, the Super Bowl Champs are close to beginning their march towards a repeat Lombardi Trophy in the 2025 NFL Season. Jalen Hurts seems to have galvanized his doubters, who are out at an all-time high, but as we discuss, that may serve to blow up in all of their faces. Another dinner with Michael Jordan before a Super Bowl could be on the horizon. The Phillies will only compete for a World Series if some drastic moves are made at the trade deadline, and it remains to be seen if the Front Office shares that sentiment, with the All-Star Break just a month away. Bryce Harper is still out with a wrist injury, although he has resumed baseball activities. Segments include: VetPhact, VetLine, Prem's MLB Picks.Courtesy of the Vet Alumni Members Association (VAMA)
The Green Bay Packers have released CB Jaire Alexander following complications in contract negotiations. How would you feel if Jaire Alexander became an Eagle? Would he be a good fit for this system? The Phillies FINALLY secured a win last night against the Cubs after Brandon Marsh walked it off in the 11th inning. Otto Kemp had a standout performance, going 3 for 5. The Brain and Mike Sielski face off in the inaugural 4 for 4 BUSTOUT games! Brian Baldinger joins to discuss Jaire Alexander and news around the NFL, while author Mark Kriegel joins the show to talk about his new book, Baddest Man: the Making Of Mike Tyson.
Otto Kemp was the standout in a Phillies win vs the Cubs! The former undrafted Phillie recorded his first career hit and set up Brandon Marsh's walk off single! On the other side of the coin, Alec Bohm continued to struggle and seemingly let it get to his head! This begs the question is Otto Kemp closing in on Alec Bohm's place in the starting lineup?!

The 94 WIP Morning team wonders if the Phillies need to consider making a trade for a center fielder. Brandon Marsh is showing his weakness at center field and Johan Rojas isn't great offensively. Do the Phillies need to consider trading Painter for a center fielder? Where is Crawford?
The WIP Morning Show discusses JT Realmuto's injury, Aaron Nola being out longer than expected, and Mick Abel's role with the Phillies. They question the Eagles' running game: will it look different than last year? Should the Phillies trade for a center fielder? Brandon Marsh struggles in center field, and Johan Rojas lacks offense. They could consider trading Painter to add an outfielder. Life Advice with the Hammer and Time's Yours!

A new era begins for the Philadelphia Flyers as they have now hired their new head coach smack dab in the middle of the rebuild. General Manager Danny Briere now has put into place the first major piece of this offseason as this team apparently moves into a “win now mode.” We dove into it this week along with the upcoming NHL Draft and its implications for this Flyers organization. Kelly Hinkle from BroadStreetHockey.com joined us for some fantastic analysis and a discussion about where this offseason is heading for the men in orange and black. But first, the guys dove into some Sixers talk as they now have the No. 3 overall pick in the NBA Draft. Who will they like take? (Approx. 4:40)From there, the guys got into a discussion about how Pete Rose and other dead former MLB players have now been reinstated by MLB's front office and are now eligible for the Baseball Hall of Fame. (Approx. 11:50)Then the guys discussed whether or not Brandon Marsh can keep up his offensive productivity as he recently came back from a rehab assignment in Lehigh Valley. (Approx. 16:55)The guys then discussed how the Union are No. 3 in the Eastern Conference and are having a nice season thus far. (Approx. 25:55)From there, they gave their thoughts on the hiring of Rick Tocchet as the Flyers new head coach. (Approx. 30:55)What they threw down on the Table this week was a fantastic and in-depth discussion with Kelly Hinkle from Broad Street Hockey about how this Flyers offseason has been progressing. Kelly gave her thoughts on Tocchet as the new head coach. What does the offer sheet threshold mean as a storyline this offseason? How should we be looking at the upcoming Flyers Draft? All of this and much more this week on the Table! The Word of the Day is Future (0:00-12:53) It is perplexing that some individuals are suggesting that Aaron Nola is facing greater challenges than Brandon Marsh, especially considering that Nola receives more support. (12:53-22:02) There are also claims circulating that Brandon Marsh aspires to emulate Jayson Werth, yet he falls significantly short of that comparison. (22:02 -31:49) Additionally, some argue that Aaron Nola's loyalty should not be viewed negatively, a notion that confuses Ricky. (31:49-40:03) Furthermore, a handful of fans advocate for selling players at the trade deadline, which seems illogical given the team's aspirations to compete for the World Series Follow The Station x.com/975TheFanatic instagram.com/975thefanatic/ https://www.facebook.com/975thefanatic/ Follow The Show x.com/975BestShowEver https://x.com/TyJohnsonNews https://x.com/rickybottalico https://x.com/sylvanakell Support the Show 975thefanatic.com/shows/the-best-show-
The Word of the Day is Future (0:00-7:53) Today, we are examining the futures of Aaron Nola and Brandon Marsh. Although it is still early in the season, Marsh is currently experiencing one of the worst offensive stretches in Phillies history. While we aim to support Nola, his recent performance has made that difficult. (7:53-16:22) There is a possibility that Brandon Marsh may not regain his previous form, as some players struggle to bounce back. Ricky suggests that Marsh's challenges may stem from a mental aspect of the game. (16:22 -27:26) Tyrone expresses skepticism regarding some of the Eagles' recent acquisitions, contrasting with those who place complete trust in Howie Roseman. He has greater confidence in the incoming rookies from the first three rounds than in certain existing players on the roster. (27:26-36:16) Fans are advocating for Trea Turner to be moved to the outfield, allowing Edmundo Sosa to take over shortstop duties. However, this change is unlikely to address the underlying issues facing the Phillies and may instead complicate matters for both fans and the media. In case you missed it, Alec Bohm and Brandon Marsh have been going through a terrible start to the 2025 season. But both had important at-bats in Tuesday night's 6-4 victory over the Giants. Marsh's sacrifice fly in the second inning gave the Phillies a 2-0 lead. Bohm's base hit in the sixth inning gave the Phillies the lead. Afterward, Harper had some philosophical thoughts about players struggling in the big leagues:“I just want [Bohm] to enjoy the game. Life could be a lot harder. Life can be a lot tougher. We get to play this beautiful game every day. I was standing in the on-deck circle in the third inning and I was thinking about it, 'Man, it's a great game we get to play.' Obviously, you're going to get your ups and downs in life and in the season. It's a hard thing to do. It is. But at the end of the day, we're all healthy, we're all strong. Just go out there and enjoy it because it'll go quick and you'll start thinking to yourself, 'Why did I take it so serious? And it's gone now.'”Schedule your PXG golf club fitting today at PXG.com/foul to save up to 20% on your entire order. Powered by WHYY... On Episode 948 of Hittin' Season, hosts John Stolnis, Justin Klugh & Liz Roscher react to a weak-hitting and ineffective offense, levels of worry about Brandon Marsh, Alec Bohm, Max Kepler, Zack Wheeler and Aaron Nola, and make sure to stay until the very end of the podcast when the gang gets really mad at Rob Thomson for not defending J.T. Realmuto in Monday night's loss to the Giants. Feelings were felt!
The Philadelphia Phillies continue to struggle with runners in scoring position, going 1-11 last night in the series opening loss to the San Francisco Giants. Taijuan Walker had one bad inning that doomed his start, giving up six runs in the 2nd inning after Bryson Stott, Trea Turner and Nick Castellanos got the Phillies on the board the inning earlier. What does Rob Thomson do about the centerfield position with neither Brandon Marsh or Johan Rojas hitting?
The Phillies lost their first series to the Cardinals in eight years, and Corey Seidman and Spencer McKercher are here to breakdown a disappointing road trip where the Phillies went 2-4.1:15 - Energy lacking as offense gets shutout twice over the weekend5:22 - Brandon Marsh's struggles to start 20258:32 - Wheeler's command goes away for second straight start13:38 - Could we see Justin Crawford sooner rather than later?19:43 - Andrew Painter looks good in his first rehab start22:14 - Phillies looking forward to a big home stand, starting with the Giants
Alec Bohm, Brandon Marsh and a bulk of the Philadelphia Phillies lineup struggled this weekend, and on the road trip in general, as the Phillies lose 2 of 3 to the St. Louis Cardinals, and finish the road trip 2-4. They're now 9-6 on the season, which is still their best start through the first 15 games of a season over the last few years. Now, the 11-4 San Francisco Giants come to town for a four game series. Can the Phillies power through a cold spell and lean on the starting pitching until things get going again?
The Word of the Day is Offense (0:00-10:16) Alec Bohm's ongoing difficulties are now impacting his defensive performance, while Brandon Marsh's challenges raise doubts about his suitability as a Major League Baseball player. (10:16-17:11) Although the season is still in its early stages, accumulating wins is crucial, and the team must focus on securing them. Fans express concern that Howie Roseman must successfully navigate the upcoming draft to address the gaps left by departing free agents, a task that is far from guaranteed despite some perceptions. (17:11 -28:30) Additionally, Bryson Stott is struggling against left-handed pitchers this season, which poses a significant issue for a team with aspirations of competing in the World Series, as their offensive output in recent series has been subpar. (28:30-37:32) Bohm's drop from the fourth to the eighth spot in the batting order suggests a clear message that he needs to improve, yet the hoped-for motivation from this demotion has not materialized. The Word of the Day is Offense (0:00-12:36) The Masters event yesterday was exhilarating, culminating in a remarkable finish. Tyrone and Ricky share their insights on the competition. (12:26-20:26) The Phillies have announced their lineup for today's game against the Giants, with Brandon Marsh sidelined and Alec Bohm batting eighth. (20:26-31:44) Dylan's preference for York Peppermint Patties as his favorite chocolate candy perplexes Tyrone, who questions the choice. The Word of the Day is Offense (0:00-13:07) A listener reached out to the show, suggesting that Brandon Marsh should consider cutting his hair to improve his performance at the plate. Sylvana took this idea further, proposing that he might also benefit from shaving his body hair. (13:07-21:38) Ricky Tyrone and Sylvana shared their insights on the Question of the Day, discussing whether Edmundo Sosa should be positioned in the outfield or the infield. (21:38-32:57) The challenges faced by the lower part of the batting order complicate Rob Thomson's responsibilities as a coach. It becomes increasingly difficult for him to manage the team when certain players consistently fail to contribute offensively. (32:57-45:21) While Rob Thomson is tasked with coaching, he cannot step onto the field to play for the athletes. There are instances when he is unable to provide guidance on matters that the players, as professionals, are already aware of.
